Unit 2 Wildlife Protection Period 1 Listening and Speaking 导学案
——2026-2027学年高一英语上学期 人教版必修第二册
一、学习目标
1. 听完这段材料,能把里面的数字、原因、措施找出来,别漏。
2. rate, extinction, habitat, aware
Before class 课前做
1. 这几个词查一下,写中文意思,上课听写:
rate ________ extinction ________ habitat ________ aware ________
2. 你知道哪种濒危动物?写一个,再写一条它为啥濒危。上课点人说。
Animal: ____________ Why: ____________
In class 课堂上
Part 1 Warm-up
Look at the posters on Page 20. Talk with your partner:
① What are these posters trying to tell us?
② "When the buying stops, the killing can too." You agree or not? Why?
* Translate this sentence into Chinese: ____________________
Part 2 Listening
Tip: the recording will be played twice. If you miss something, try to guess from the words around the blank.
▸ First, guess
Look at the title and the pictures. With your partner, guess what you will hear:
• Problems wildlife face: ____________________
• What people may do: ____________________
▸ Listen once — fill in the blanks
Listen and write down the missing words. Pay attention to the words before and after each blank.
Our planet's ①________ is dying out at an alarming ②________. Between 150 and 200 species are becoming extinct every day. This ③________ extinction is caused by hunting, habitat ④________, and pollution. We must make people ⑤________ of the problem and help protect the endangered wildlife before it's too late!
▸ Listen again — answer questions
This time, listen for feelings and reasons.
1. How did the students feel when they saw the poster?
________________________________________________
2. Why are so many species dying out? (Give two reasons.)
________________________________________________
3. What should we do then?
________________________________________________
▸ Listen to the second part — numbers!
Don't zone out — the numbers are all in this part.
1. How many elephants are killed each day on average?
A. 34 B. 54 C. 45
2. What did Prince William say about China?
A. China has made a lot of progress.
B. China can lead the world in wildlife protection.
C. China protects its natural habitats very well.
▸ Group talk
Four people a group. Chat about:
• What's the last sentence of the listening?
• What does it mean to you? Give one small example from your life.
Part 3 Speak up
▸ Quick grammar note
You heard these in the listening, right?
Elephants are being hunted.
Measures are being taken.
That's "be + being + past participle" — it means something is happening RIGHT NOW. Use it when you talk about problems and solutions. Try it later!
▸ Read this example first
Page 21. Read the dialogue with your partner. See how they use the passive voice?
A: I'm worried about African elephants. What do you know about them?
B: Well, people hunt them for ivory, and their habitat is getting smaller because cities and farms take over the land. They're in danger of dying out.
A: That's bad. What are people doing to help?
B: Some countries banned ivory sales, and zoos are trying to breed them. But it's still not enough.
▸ Now you try
Pick one animal from the pictures, or use your own. Make a dialogue with your partner.
Stuck? Use these:
• I'm worried about...
• They are being... / their homes are being...
• People are doing things like...
• But we still need to...
P.S. You don't need perfect grammar. Just speak!
Extra: talk about the finless porpoise (if you have time)
Oh, and by the way — we have our own endangered animal right here in Wuhan: the Yangtze finless porpoise. Those "jiangzhuzi" you sometimes see in the river? Yeah, there are not many left.
If you finish early, chat about:
• What problems are they facing?
• What are people doing to help?
Homework 作业
1. Practice your dialogue with your partner. Next class I'll call a few groups to perform.
2. Write 3 sentences: what can YOU do in daily life to protect wildlife? Example: I will not buy things made from wild animals. Keep it short, no need to write a paragraph.
