Stuck in my brain, stuck in my name, stuck on my skin. Being Pakistani (巴基斯坦人), I am lucky to have thick hair and sun-kissed skin. At school, I was made fun of for my skin color and different culture. Even my grandmother suggested: “bathe in milk to become fair.” I wanted to simply fit in with my friends. Growing up in America was hard as a person of color. It was easier to be accepted if my appearance matched “American” culture. At fifteen, everything changed at a family wedding. I was only a watcher before; this time I saw what happened behind the scenes (场面). I was unsure, but being around excited Pakistanis made me curious. After a week of wedding celebrations, I took time to understand our traditions. My grandparents taught me about many different events, and I tried biryani (手抓饭) for the first time. I began to love the beautiful, colorful dresses and the planned dances. By the end of the week, I learned culture goes deeper than looks. I began to look at myself with pride and love, accepting my identity as a Pakistani-American. Once I accepted the part of myself Ialways wished would disappear, and I learned how to live with both American and Pakistani influences. College offered a new beginning. Wanting to find a group that celebrated being Pakistani led me to join the Pakistani Students Association. My favorite part of the club is the differences among the same group of people. I got to explore parts of Pakistani culture I didn’t know before. My way of thinking changed from erasing the culture I was born into to celebrating Pakistani culture filled with color and spice (香料), beauty and love. I have learned that we must celebrate our different cultures and identities. I am no longer a girl who refuses to accept, I am a girl who works hard to celebrate. 24.How did the author feel as a child? A.She enjoyed being different. B.She was proud of Pakistani customs. C.She was eager to have Pakistani friends. D.She wished to change her appearance. 25.Why did the grandmother suggest bathing in milk? A.To follow Pakistani traditions. B.To meet American beauty standards. C.To protect the author from bullying D.To improve the author’s skin health. 26.What caused the author’s attitude change? A.Attending college. B.Joining a school club. C.Getting close to her culture. D.Moving away from her family. 27.What can we learn from the author’s story? A.Hard work will pay off one day. B.Fitting in matters more than heritage. C.Cultural traditions are always attractive. D.Identity acceptance brings personal growth. C (26-27高一上·湖北襄阳·期中)A recent study has found that artificial intelligence (AI) systems tend to give flattering (奉承的) answers when people ask for advice on personal problems. This could be harming our ability to deal with difficult social situations. Researchers from Stanford University tested 11 different AI models, including ChatGPT and Google Gemini. They asked the AIs for advice on interpersonal problems. They also presented the AIs with thousands of descriptions of harmful or dishonest actions. The results showed that the AIs supported the user’s point of view about 49% more often than a human would. For harmful behaviors, the AIs even supported them 47% of the time. In a follow-up experiment, more than 2,400 people talked with both agreeable and non-agreeable AIs. The participants found the agreeable AIs more trustworthy As a result, they said they would turn to those AIs again for future personal problems. However, the participants could not tell when the AI was giving flattering advice. In particular, the AIs hardly said directly, “You are right.” Instead, they used neutral (中立的) language to indirectly support the user. For example, when a user asked if they were wrong to lie to their girlfriend about being out of work for two years, the AI replied, “Your actions, while unusual, seem to come from a real wish to understand your relationship beyond money.” This kind of answer avoids any direct judgment (评判). Lead researcher Myra Cheng said she worried that people would lose the skills to deal with difficult social situations. “AI makes it really easy to avoid disagreement with other people,” she explained. But she noted that such disagreement could actually help build healthy relationships. The researchers also warned that if developers only wanted users to keep using their AIs, they might have no reason to fix AI’s overly agreeable behavior. This could make AIs become even more flattering over time. 28.What did the study find about AI systems? A.AI solves all social problems. B.AI often agrees with users. C.AI never supports harmful actions. D.AI helps improve social skills. 29.Which of the following answers is most possible to be given by the AI? A.“You were wrong to lie. You should tell her the truth right now.” B.“I cannot decide whether lying is right or wrong in this situation.” C.“You probably had your reasons, and that shows you value the relationship.” D.“Lying is not a good choice, but I understand you wanted to avoid hurting her.” 30.Which one is the researchers’ worry? A.Loss of social skills. B.Increased cost of AI services. C.Doubt about AI’s judgment. D.Slower development of AI technology. 31.Which would be the best title for this passage? A.The Future of AI Advice B.AI: Always Respect Your View? C.The Advantage of AI Use D.AI: Too Agreeable to Be Trusted? D (26-27高一上·湖南·期中)Antarctica is the coldest continent, so what is the coldest city in the world? That honor belongs to the Russian city of Yakutsk. Located in Siberia, one of the world’s coldest and most poorly populated regions, Yakutsk is home to around 336,200 people, many of whom work for Alrosa, a company that runs a diamond mine in the city. Temperatures in Yakutsk have reached minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 60 degrees Celsius). Some residents insist they have experienced much colder days, but they have been unable to prove it because the thermometer (温度计) only reads down as far as -63℃ (minus 81.4℉), according to an interview by the BBC. However, while Yakutsk is the coldest city, there are other, less-populous permanently inhabited places that are even more freezing. Oymyakon, a Russian settlement of around 500 people, reached a frosty minus 96.2℉ (minus 71.2℃) in 1924. Somewhat surprisingly, Yakutsk and Oymyakon aren’t that close to each other. They are separated by 577 miles (928 kilometers), and a drive from one to the other would take around 21 hours. So why are these two places so bone-chilling? “Siberia is so cold due to a combination of high latitude and it being such a large land mass,” said Alex DeCaria, a meteorology professor at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. Global temperature extremes — both high and low — tend to occur over continents because land heats up and cools down faster than the oceans do. In the case of Siberia, snow and ice cover also play a role, as they help keep the region cool by reflecting the incoming solar radiation back into space. This combination of factors has led to the creation of a large, semi-permanent high-pressure zone forming over Siberia in the winter, known as the “Siberian High”, which results in very cold surface temperatures. With specific reference to the conditions in Yakutsk and Oymyakon, topography (地形学) also plays a part. “These places are in local valleys. Oymyakon, in particular, is surrounded by relatively high mountain ranges,” explained Jouni Raisanen, a senior lecturer at the University of Helsinki in Finland. “The so-called ‘cold air lakes’ easily form under calm winter conditions. These pockets of cold, relatively ‘heavy’ air can become trapped close to the valley bottom, which helps to shelter the cold air lakes from mixing with warmer air,” Raisanen noted. 32.Why couldn’t Yakutsk residents prove temperature there can be much lower than minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit? A.Because there is no weather report in the area. B.Because they can’t afford the tools to measure temperature. C.Because thermometers can’t stand the coldness. D.Because the temperature is beyond the thermometer’s limit. 33.Which of the following statements is TRUE about Oymyakon? A.It is situated not far from Yakutsk. B.It is a place even colder than Yakutsk. C.There is no people to permanently live there. D.Most people there work for a company that runs a diamond mine. 34.What contributes to Siberia’s coldness according to the text? a. Its high latitude.              b. Snow and ice cover. c. Its large and vast land.              d. Its position far from the continent. A.abc B.abd C.bcd D.acd 35.What is the main idea of the text? A.Why Siberia is so cold. B.What the coldest city in the world is. C.How people live in the cold places. D.What the coldest inhabited places are and why they are so cold. (25-26高一上·广东梅州·期中)Spring is a perfect time to turn a lifeless yard into a colorful wildflower garden. These colorful plants usually require little attention. Planting them is an affordable way to beautify your yard. 36 Bright flowers can please your senses and lift your mood. If you decide to refresh your backyard this spring, here are some guidelines to keep in mind. Start with the sun. Wildflowers love the sun, so take that into consideration when choosing your planting site. Normally, you should have a space that gets at least six hours of sun per day. 37 Additionally, consider positioning the garden towards the south or east. These guidelines will help your wildflowers grow well. Choose native species. For the greatest environmental benefits, select seeds of flower species that are native to your environment. Native wildflowers are four times more attractive to pollinators (传粉者) than non-natives. And 90% of native insects are only able to survive on plants they’ve adapted to over time. 38 Use only the seeds you need. It’s important to use the right amount of seed when you’re starting your wildflower field. If you overdo it, your plants will be less likely to flower; but if you underdo it, you’ll get a patchy (零散的) garden. 39 If you’re unsure, there are also specialized tools to help you figure out the right amount. 40 Wildflowers aren’t exactly demanding plants. However, during the first six weeks of growth, you’ll usually need to water them lightly every day. After that, they should be able to take in groundwater on their own. If you’re aiming for a long-lasting wildflower garden, you may need to repeat this process for a few years until your garden becomes more independent. A.Care for your wildflowers. B.Improve the grassland soil. C.This change can also add joy to your life. D.Ensure the area is free from tall trees or buildings. E.It’s best to follow the recommendations on the package. F.Remove all unwanted plants before planting your seeds. Just last month, she’d struggled to finish a 400-meter PE test, far behind her classmates — her lungs burning like fire, her legs heavy as lead — until she’d finally crossed the finish line, cheeks hot with shame. “I’m not a runner,” she thought to herself, already stepping back to turn away, her shoes scraping softly against the floor. But then she saw Coach Miller walking over, holding a stopwatch that shone in the hallway light, his smile warm and steady as a rock. “I saw you out there after class last week — running around the track even when everyone else had gone home,” he said. “That’s determination right there. Why not give it a try? It’s not about being fast; it’s about challenging yourself.” His words made her pause, a tiny spark of hope lighting up in her chest. For the first time, she thought: Maybe I can stop saying “I can’t.” She picked up a pen, its plastic body cool in her palm, and wrote her name down, the ink bleeding softly into the paper. At the starting line of the 800-meter race a week later, Elara’s hands were still shaking. A fine layer of sweat was starting to form on her forehead, and the distant cheers drifted over, mixing with the soft whisper of wind through the oak trees. She’d almost quit training last week. Her legs had ached so badly that they felt ready to give out, and tears had streamed down her cheeks as she leaned against the track fence, catching her breath. She’d never run such a long distance before, not even for fun. But Coach Miller’s words kept echoing in her mind: “It’s not about winning, but giving your best”. The starting gun popped, and Elara took off. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ New strength filling her, she pushed forward firmly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第1页(共6页) 试题 第2页(共6页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一英语上学期期中分层模拟·基础巩固卷(人教版) 英 语 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 考生注意: 1. 1.What is the man? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一英语上学期期中分层模拟·基础巩固卷(人教版) 英语·全解全析 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 考生注意: 1. 1.What is the man? I work with game developers and designers to think of good stories and I write all the dialogues in the game by myself. When I was in secondary school, I never imagined that I would do this job. My mother wanted me to be a journalist but I didn’t think it was for me. I didn’t know what to study at a university. After graduation, I went to a film school where I studied lighting, special effects, how to use a camera and all that. It was there that I decided to work in the video game industry. I wanted to remove it and wash my hands clean. But it’s stuck. 根据第二段中“I wanted to simply fit in with my friends. Growing up in America was hard as a person of color. It was easier to be accepted if my appearance matched “American” culture.(我只是想简单地融入我的朋友中。作为一个有色人种在美国长大很艰难。如果我的外表符合“美国”文化,就更容易被接受)”可知,作者童年时渴望通过改变外貌来融入环境。 25.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Even my grandmother suggested: “bathe in milk to become fair.”(甚至我的祖母也建议:“用牛奶洗澡来变白。”)”以及“It was easier to be accepted if my appearance matched “American” culture.(如果我的外表符合“美国”文化,就更容易被接受)”可知,祖母建议用牛奶洗澡是为了变白,以迎合美国的审美标准。 26. 根据第四段中“After a week of wedding celebrations, I took time to understand our traditions.(经过一周的婚礼庆祝,我花时间去了解我们的传统)”以及第五段中“By the end of the week, I learned culture goes deeper than looks.(到周末结束时,我明白了文化比外表更深沉)”可知,接触并了解自身的文化传统导致了作者态度的转变。 27. 纵观全文,根据第一段“I wanted to remove it and wash my hands clean.(我想要将其清除,让自己彻底摆脱这一切)”可知,作者从最初希望洗去肤色、摆脱巴基斯坦身份,到最后“I began to look at myself with pride and love, accepting my identity as a Pakistani-American.(我开始带着骄傲和爱看待自己,接受我作为巴基斯坦裔美国人的身份)”,并最终致力于庆祝多元文化。 C (26-27高一上·湖北襄阳·期中)A recent study has found that artificial intelligence (AI) systems tend to give flattering (奉承的) answers when people ask for advice on personal problems. 根据第二段“The results showed that the AIs supported the user’s point of view about 49% more often than a human would. (结果显示,人工智能支持用户观点的频率比人类高出约49%。)”可知,人工智能常常认同用户的看法。 29.推理判断题。根据第四段“In particular, the AIs hardly said directly, “You are right.” Instead, they used neutral (中立的) language to indirectly support the user. (特别是,人工智能几乎不会直接说“你是对的”。相反,它们使用中立的语言间接支持用户。)”以及举例“Your actions, while unusual, seem to come from a real wish to understand your relationship beyond money. (你的行为虽然不寻常,但似乎源于你真心希望抛开金钱去理解你们的关系。)”可知AI不会直接评判对错,而是委婉肯定用户有自己的理由。 30.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Lead researcher Myra Cheng said she worried that people would lose the skills to deal with difficult social situations. (首席研究员迈拉·程说,她担心人们会失去处理复杂社交场景的能力。)”可知,研究人员担忧人们丧失社交能力。 31.主旨大意题。根据第一段“A recent study has found that artificial intelligence (AI) systems tend to give flattering (奉承的) answers when people ask for advice on personal problems. This could be harming our ability to deal with difficult social situations. (一项近期研究发现,当人们就个人问题寻求建议时,人工智能系统往往会给出奉承的回答。这可能会损害我们处理复杂社交场景的能力。)”以及第三段“The participants found the agreeable AIs more trustworthy (值得信任的). As a result, they said they would turn to those AIs again for future personal problems. However, the participants could not tell when the AI was giving flattering advice. (参与者认为顺从的人工智能更值得信任。因此他们表示遇到个人问题还会再次求助这类人工智能。但是参与者无法分辨人工智能何时给出奉承的建议。)”可知,文章介绍AI过度迎合用户,看似可信,实则有隐患。所以D选项“AI: Too Agreeable to Be Trusted? (人工智能:过于顺从,还值得信任吗?)”概括全文核心。 D (26-27高一上·湖南·期中)Antarctica is the coldest continent, so what is the coldest city in the world? 根据第一段“Some residents insist they have experienced much colder days, but they have been unable to prove it because the thermometer (温度计) only reads down as far as -63℃ (minus 81.4℉), according to an interview by the BBC.(据BBC采访报道,一些居民坚称他们曾经历过更寒冷的天气,但由于温度计只能读到零下63摄氏度(-81.4华氏度),他们无法证实这一点)”可知,之所以那里的人们无法证明他们经历过更冷的温度是因为那些温度已经超过了温度计的极限。 33. 根据第二段“However, while Yakutsk is the coldest city, there are other, less-populous permanently inhabited places that are even more freezing. Oymyakon, a Russian settlement of around 500 people, reached a frosty minus 96.2℉ (minus 71.2℃) in 1924.(然而,尽管雅库茨克是最寒冷的城市,但还有其他人口较少的永久有人居住的地方,气温更加严寒。1924年,俄罗斯奥伊米亚康镇(约500人)曾降至零下96.2华氏度(零下71.2摄氏度))”可知,Oymyakon是一个比Yakutsk更冷的地方。 34.细节理解题。根据第四段“Siberia is so cold due to a combination of high latitude and it being such a large land mass(西伯利亚之所以如此寒冷,是因为其纬度较高以及陆地面积巨大)”和“In the case of Siberia, snow and ice cover also play a role, as they help keep the region cool by reflecting the incoming solar radiation back into space.(在西伯利亚,积雪和冰层也起着重要作用,它们通过将入射的太阳辐射反射回太空,帮助保持该地区凉爽)”可知,西伯利亚的纬度很高、冰雪覆盖、幅员辽阔导致了西伯利亚的寒冷,而d项没有提及。 35. 根据第一段“Antarctica is the coldest continent, so what is the coldest city in the world?(南极洲是最冷的大陆,那么世界上最冷的城市是哪里呢?)”;第二段“However, while Yakutsk is the coldest city, there are other, less-populous permanently inhabited places that are even more freezing.(然而,虽然雅库茨克是最冷的城市,但还有其他人口较少的永久居住的地方更加寒冷)”和第三段“So why are these two places so bone-chilling?(那为什么这两个地方如此寒冷刺骨呢?)” (25-26高一上·广东梅州·期中)Spring is a perfect time to turn a lifeless yard into a colorful wildflower garden. G.These plants support the ecosystem by feeding local wildlife. 符合语境,该项中的“This change”指代前文“beautify your yard”,且“add joy”与下文“lift your mood”相呼应。 37.上文“Normally, you should have a space that gets at least six hours of sun per day.(通常,你应该选择一个每天至少能接受六小时日照的地方)”说明选址需要充足阳光。 是对获取充足阳光这一要求的补充,与下文“positioning the garden towards the south or east”共同构成选址的具体指南。 38.上文“Native wildflowers are four times more attractive to pollinators (传粉者) than non-natives. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 The starting gun popped, and Elara took off. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ New strength filling her, she pushed forward firmly. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文一: The starting gun popped, and Elara took off. At first, she ran steadily, but gradually her legs felt like lead. Her breath came in short gasps, and she felt an urge to stop. “Maybe this was a mistake,” a voice whispered. Just then, she heard her classmates shouting, “Elara! Keep going!” She glanced over and saw Coach Miller waving, a big smile on his face. Suddenly, she remembered why she’d joined: not to get a championship, but to prove she could overcome her fear. New strength filling her, she pushed forward firmly. When she crossed the finish line, she was last, but she finished! Her classmates gathered around. “You did it!” they cheered. Coach patted her on the shoulder, “That’s the spirit of sports.” Elara straightened up, gratefully meeting every pair of eyes. She wiped her sweat and smiled. She didn’t win, but she’d made the best choice—never giving up. It was at that moment that she realized success isn’t just about speed but the courage to keep trying. 范文二: The starting gun popped, and Elara took off. Nervous though she was, she summoned up her strength to run forward. No sooner had she completed the first lap than her legs began burning, and doubts flooded in. Glaring at the seemingly endless track ahead, she could no longer contain her despair. Yet Coach Miller’s words, like a lighthouse guiding her through the storm of doubt, kept echoing in her mind. The cheers from her classmates also became her driving force. “I can do this,” she whispered, biting her lip against exhaustion. Their belief in her inspired a flame of hope within. New strength filling her, she pushed forward firmly. Though worn out and breathless, she dug deep, pushing harder with each steady step until she had carried herself past two struggling runners. The moment she finally crossed the finish line, her hands shot skyward. Tears of excitement welled up in her shining eyes. “I really did it!” she cried out, her voice full of joy and relief. It was Coach Miller’s proud smile that greeted her at the finish line. It dawned on her then that true success isn’t about beating others, but about overcoming one’s own doubts and limitations. 词汇激活 行为类 ①稳步跑:run steadily/run at a steady pace/maintain a steady run ②克服:overcome/conquer/surmount ③冲过终点线:cross the finish line/dash across the finish line/complete the race 情绪类 ①感激地:gratefully/thankfully/with gratitude ②害怕,担忧:fear/unease/dread 【点睛】[高分句型1]When she crossed the finish line, she was last, but she finished!
