In this guide, we will share some of the best things to do there. Visit Guaita Tower Known as the oldest of the three towers, Guaita Tower sits high atop a mountain. Standing here gives you a glimpse into the Republic’s medieval (中世纪) past, and breathtaking views that stretch across the landscape. Inside the tower, you can explore its historical significance, including displays about its role in defense and the Republic’s history. The architecture with thick stone walls and narrow openings is an amazing example of medieval engineering. Attend Changing of the Guard Ceremony This ceremonial event happens at Palazzo Pubblico every hour and showcases the traditions of San Marino. You’ll see guards in traditional uniforms performing the change with precision and elegance. The ceremony includes music and ceremonial movements, making it enjoyable for all ages. Arriving a few minutes early ensures you have a good spot to watch the ceremony as both locals and tourists gather at the square to observe. Hike Monte Titano As you hike Monte Titano, you’ll enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of nature. The most popular route is the Cammino del Titano, which provides well-marked paths perfect for hikers of all levels. Along the hike, you’ ll come across rocky outcrops and peaceful forests. This makes it an ideal getaway from the fast-paced city life. Discover the Museum of Curiosities This unique museum houses a collection of oddities. As you explore, you’ll encounter strange inventions, odd medical tools, and surprising historical facts. It’s a journey into the unusual and unexpected. B In Pampa Miraflores, most families rely on cocoa farming — a livelihood so unstable that children are often called upon to work the fields to help keep their family afloat. Merlyn had a different dream and he is currently working to complete his first year as a civil engineering student at a top university in Lima. The road to success was not an easy one, and was paved with hard work and support from a strong family. Merlyn’s parents, John and Nayci, know this struggle well. Merlyn’s father once dreamed of becoming a mechanic, but he had to drop out of school to work and support his family. Nayci’s journey was equally arduous. She loved her studies, braving a dangerous, hour-long walk to school over rough roads. However, when her mother fell ill, her educational journey came to a sudden end. “My husband grows cocoa on the farm, but he doesn’t have a fixed income,” Nayci explains, adding that the family helps Merlyn with day-to-day expenses. To make ends meet, she works two roles — as an early childhood educator and a social worker. Together, her two salaries total approximately $435 a month. It’s a challenge supporting a family and a son studying in the capital, but a vital lifeline has helped them bridge the gap. When Merlyn was 5, the family enrolled in Juntos, a national conditional cash transfer program. Through the program, families receive about $57 every two months, provided they fulfil specific responsibilities: keeping their children in school and ensuring they attend regular health checkups. For Nayci, the impact is felt in small but essential moments of daily life. “Now the children are healthier and learning better,” she says. “Most of the time, we have nothing at home, and then the money arrives — we use it to buy food, a notebook, or shoes.” Such investments are paying off. Merlyn has become a symbol of hope for the entire community. His success has created a ripple effect among other children at the local school: If Merlyn did it, we can too. 24. What does the underlined word “arduous” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Boring. B. Bittersweet. C. Harmful. D. Struggling. 25. What can we learn about Merlyn’s parents? A. They didn’t value their opportunity to study. B. They had difficulty supporting his education. C. They benefited from Juntos in their childhood. D. They were unwilling to send him to the capital. 26. How does Merlyn’s family mainly spend the money from the program? A. Purchasing some necessities. B. Sponsoring their community. C. Celebrating special occasions. D. Having family health checkups. 27. What impact does Merlyn’s success have on his community? A. It allows neighbors to form close bonds. B. It reminds others to mind their health. C. It inspires more students to study hard. D. It drives more organizations to donate. C You ask your wife to pick a local restaurant and pick up some take-out one evening. Then, while logging in to a Zoom meeting, you also ask your mom to buy some wine on her way home. While they follow through on your requests, you are left astonished and annoyed: How is it that they could pick a restaurant that was involved in a health scandal (丑闻) last month? And why would they choose a type of wine you hate? The husband above has been caught by a psychological effect known as the curse (诅咒) of knowledge. It’s a simple but destructive effect: once we know something, it’s very difficult to imagine not knowing it, or to take the perspective of someone who doesn’t. The effect was first put forward by Elizabeth Newton, a Ph. D. candidate at Stanford, in 1990. Newton arranged an experiment in which one person, a tapper (敲击者), was asked to tap out the melody (旋律) of a popular song, while another person, the listener, was asked to identify it. The tappers assumed that their listeners would correctly identify about 50% of their melodies: they were amazed to learn that the listeners only got about one out of 40 songs correct. To the tappers, their melodies sounded perfectly clear and obvious, but the listeners heard no music and no instrumentation in their heads, who only heard noise of a finger tapping on a table. As I noted in a post about the Dunning Kruger effect last year, people who aren’t well-informed are quite likely to feel confident in their opinions, because they don’t know enough to question their own unearned confidence. Similarly, we often make an unrecognized assumption: someone can read our minds or form opinions based on information we haven’t shared. This assumption often leads us to feel we’ve clearly expressed our wants and needs even when we haven’t. 28. Why is the husband shocked and angry? A. His requests were refused. B. He preferred sweet wines. C. His wife purchased unnecessary items. D. He disagreed with his family’s options. 29. What is a feature of the curse of knowledge? A. It overstates people’s innovation. B. It causes people to ignore advice C. It blinds people to others’ ignorance. D. It stops people from sharing opinions. 30. What can be inferred from Elizabeth Newton’s experiment? A. Tappers succeeded in controlling the speed. B. Tappers failed to consider listeners’ actuality. C. Listeners with hearing loss had bad perception. D. Listeners fond of pop music hated instruments. 31. How can we remove the curse of knowledge? A. By detailing our thoughts. B. By figuring out our needs. C. By listening to diverse ideas. D. By showing the action steps. D Psychologists have long debated whether the human mind can be explained by a single, unified theory. Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is entering that debate, offering a new way to explore how the mind works. In July 2025, a study published in Nature introduced an AI model called Centaur. Built on standard large language models and refined using data from psychological experiments, Centaur was designed to model human cognitive (认知的) behavior. It reportedly performed well across 160 tasks, including decision-making, executive control, and other mental processes. The results drew widespread attention and were seen as a possible step toward AI systems that could copy human thinking more broadly. However, researchers of a new study published in National Science Open in December 2025 argue that Centaur’s apparent success may come from overfitting. In other words, instead of understanding the tasks, the model may have learned to recognize patterns in the training data and reproduce expected answers. To prove this idea, the researchers created several new evaluation scenes. In one example, they replaced the original multiple-choice prompts (提示) which described specific psychological tasks, with the instruction “Please choose option A.” If the model truly understood the task, it should have consistently selected option A. Instead, Centaur continued to choose the “correct answers” from the original dataset. This behavior suggests that the model was not interpreting the meaning of the questions. Rather, it relied on learned statistical patterns to “guess” answers. The finding highlights the need for caution when assessing the abilities of large language models. While these systems can be highly effective at fitting data, their “black-box” nature makes it difficult to know how they arrive at their outputs. This can lead to issues such as hallucinations (幻觉) or misinterpretations. Although Centaur was presented as a model capable of modelling cognition, its biggest limitation appears to be in language comprehension. Specifically, it struggles to recognize and respond to the intent behind questions. The new study suggests that achieving true language understanding may be one of the most important challenges in developing AI systems that can model human cognition more fully. 32. What can we know about the study in July 2025? A. It was initially well received. B. It was irrelevant to human thinking. C. It encountered immediate criticism. D. It focused on AI’s physical abilities. 33. What’s paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The design principle of Centaur. B. Actionable steps for modifying Centaur. C. Reasons why Centaur is newly tested. D. The process of testing Centaur in a new way. 34. What does the new finding indicate about large language models? A. They can easily overcome overfitting. B. Their outputs are not necessarily reliable. C. They are incapable of fitting training data. D. Their interpretation skills are underestimated. 35. What should researchers do to improve Centaur based on the new study? A. Adapt the questions to its level. B. Integrate more data with more choices. C. Enhance its language comprehension ability. D. Prioritize understanding how the mind works. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 We all know that our dogs have feelings, and that they can be happy or sad. But, do dogs actually cry real tears when they get sad? Dogs are highly sensitive pets, and they experience a variety of emotions, just like humans. 36 They might just have watery eyes. As far as scientists know, humans are the only species that cry for emotional reasons. Dogs do “cry” when they’re sad. However, dogs use voices to express feelings rather than having watery eyes. They begin doing this at a young age by crying out for their moms when in trouble. 37 As they get older, dogs may continue this whining (哀鸣) when sad. Once they have matured, dogs consider their human owners to be the pack leader, or mother figure, and will direct their whining or crying towards them. Many specialists believe dogs suffering from separation anxiety will whine for their mothers. 38 39 They can also be sad, in pain or attempting to let you know that they’re feeling uncomfortable or want something. Also, dogs may howl (嗥叫) occasionally, which is just another form of “crying”. In fact, many experts believe that howling is a dog’s ultimate expression of sadness. If dogs don’t produce emotional tears, why do they tear up at all? Studies show there is oftentimes a medical reason behind dogs having tears. 40 A dog’s tear ducts (泪管) work somewhat differently. For dogs, the tears or liquid will flow back into the throat and nose rather than from the eyes. A. This is because dogs are social animals. B. However, no science proves dogs cry for sadness. C. Separation anxiety isn’t the only cause of dogs whining. D. Similarly, when sad, they go to their parent-like person. E. Virtually, that may be a sign of a serious health condition. F. The reasons for dogs crying or howling are exactly the same. G. They learn to make distinct sounds that can be recognized instantly. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Seven-year-old Brixon Hayes recently received recognition at school for being an accelerated reader. But there was one thing about our trips that embarrassed me terribly: his “train station pants”. They were a pair of bright purple pants with orange skateboarding dinosaurs printed all over them. Every time we went to a train station, he would wear the pants. People would stare and some would even point and laugh. I could feel my face burning with shame as I was a shy and sensitive girl. “Dad, please don’t wear the pants,” I would beg him. “They’ re so ugly and embarrassing! Everyone else is looking at us!” He would just smile gently and shake his head. “The pants have a special purpose,” he would say. “If we ever got separated, you would spot me immediately in a crowd, or you could describe me to others easily — ‘My dad is wearing purple pants with orange skateboarding dinosaurs.’ No one else would be wearing that, right?” I didn’t buy his explanation. I thought he just liked being the center of attention. So I kept complaining, and he kept wearing the pants. My attitude changed one summer when I was about eight years old. We were at a busy train station during the holiday season. The place was packed with travelers rushing in every direction. As usual, my dad was wearing his silly pants. As we were checking the train information board, a wave of people suddenly pushed through. One moment my dad was right beside me; the next moment, he was gone. Panic flooded over me as I scanned the faces of the people around me, but my dad was nowhere to be seen. I tried to shout “Dad”, but my voice got lost in the noisy crowd. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized I was completely alone in this crowded train station. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just then, something flashed in my mind. ______________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ When I finally found my dad, I hugged him tightly. ______________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
