Directions: Read the following sentence and decide whether the statement is TRUE or FALSE.
Original: A team of 120 archaeologists and local workers completed the excavation of a 3,000-year-old city in central China within eight months, using both traditional tools and satellite imaging.
Statement: The excavation took longer than a year.
TRUE □ FALSE
【答案与解析】 答案:______ 解析:原文的时间限定是__________,statement 说的是__________,
二者在__________上方向__________(一致/相反)。
Step 1

1. The project received funding from the government. → The government provided financial support for the project.
转述形式:__________ 被换掉的部分:________________________
2. Because the road was blocked, we took a detour. → Taking a detour was necessary due to the road blockage.
转述形式:__________ 被换掉的部分:________________________
3. The device can detect minute changes in temperature. → The device is sensitive enough to pick up tiny temperature shifts.
转述形式:__________ 被换掉的部分:________________________
4. The ceremony included speeches, music, and a fireworks display. → Various celebratory activities marked the ceremony.
转述形式:__________ 被换掉的部分:________________________
我的结论: □ 守恒 □ 不守恒 丢掉的两个核心限定是:__________、__________
【答案与解析】 理由:____________________________________________________________
Step 2
Passage excerpt

验证:A 错在__________;C 错在__________;D 错在__________
Step 3
The old building was torn down last year.
选项:The old building was torn down recently.

我的判断:原文的 interest 指__________,选项的 interest 指__________,属于__________陷阱。
The study found that 80% of participants preferred online learning.
选项:Some people liked online learning.
我的判断:丢掉的关键限定是__________;能被 some 代替吗?__________,理由:____________________
He didn't attend the meeting because he was ill.
选项:He must have caught a cold.

1. The restoration of the ancient temple required not only skilled labor but also advanced technology to preserve the original frescoes.
A. The restoration needed skilled labor but no technology. B. Both skilled labor and advanced technology were necessary for the restoration. C. Advanced technology alone was enough to restore the temple. D. Skilled labor was more important than technology in the restoration.
▍答案 B
▍解析 原句"not only...but also"表示两者都需要。A项否定了technology,C项限定only technology,D项比较重要性,均与原文不符。
2. The discovery of the fossil pushed back the timeline of human migration by at least 50,000 years.
A. The fossil proved humans migrated earlier than previously thought. B. The fossil showed that human migration happened later. C. The discovery had no effect on the timeline. D. Humans migrated exactly 50,000 years ago.
▍答案 A
3. Despite the heavy rain, the outdoor concert went ahead as scheduled.
A. The concert was cancelled due to the rain. B. The concert proceeded despite the bad weather. C. The concert was postponed to another day. D. The rain stopped before the concert started.
A项cancelled、C项postponed、D项rain stopped均与原文不符。
4. The new policy aims to reduce carbon emissions by 40% before 2030, a target that many experts consider ambitious but achievable.
A. Experts think the target is too difficult to reach. B. The policy will cut emissions by exactly 40% by 2030. C. The target is seen as both challenging and possible. D. The policy focuses on increasing emissions.
▍答案 C
▍解析 "ambitious but achievable" = challenging and possible。A项只取了too difficult,B项exactly过度绝对,D项increasing方向相反。
5. The museum's new exhibition features artifacts never before displayed to the public, offering a rare glimpse into ancient trade routes.
A. The exhibition shows items that have been shown before. B. It provides an uncommon opportunity to see ancient trade route artifacts. C. The museum is closed for renovation. D. The artifacts are all from modern times.

6. Volunteers spent three months cleaning the coastline, removing over two tons of plastic waste.
A. The cleanup took less than a month. B. Volunteers removed plastic waste from the coast. C. Two tons of waste remained after the cleanup. D. The coastline was completely free of plastic.
▍答案 B
▍解析 原文核心是volunteers cleaned and removed waste。A项less than a month与three months矛盾,C项remained方向相反,D项completely free过度绝对。
▍答案 FALSE
▍解析 原文"within eight months"表明少于一年;statement说longer than a year,属于反向转述(反义转述)。

1. The project received funding from the government. → The government provided financial support for the project.
2. Because the road was blocked, we took a detour. → Taking a detour was necessary due to the road blockage.
3. The device can detect minute changes in temperature. → The device is sensitive enough to pick up tiny temperature shifts.
4. The ceremony included speeches, music, and a fireworks display. → Various celebratory activities marked the ceremony.
some things"丢掉了 celebratory(庆典性质)与 activities(活动形态)这两个核心限定,属于"概括变笼统",是错的。
Step 2
Passage excerpt
The 2026 Mars mission successfully deployed a drone that collected soil samples from the Jezero Crater. Unlike previous rovers, this drone could navigate autonomously using AI-powered terrain recognition.
1. What was special about the 2026 Mars drone?
A. It was the first rover to land on Mars. B. It used AI to recognize terrain and move independently. C. It collected rock samples from the polar region. D. It was controlled remotely from Earth.
▍解析 转述: 原文"navigate autonomously using AI-powered terrain recognition" = "used AI to recognize terrain and move independently"。
Step 3
The old building was torn down last year.
选项:The old building was torn down recently.
The bank manager said the interest on the loan was reasonable.
选项:The manager showed great interest in the new project.
The study found that 80% of participants preferred online learning.
选项:Some people liked online learning.
He didn't attend the meeting because he was ill.

Passage C
The decision to ban single-use plastics in coastal cities has yielded mixed results. While overall plastic waste on beaches decreased by 34%, microplastic levels in seawater actually rose by 12%. Scientists attribute this to the breakdown of existing larger plastics into smaller fragments, which are harder to collect. The finding underscores the need for upstream solutions — reducing production rather than just managing disposal.
5. What does the author imply about the plastic ban?

Two recent studies offer conflicting views on the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation. Study A, conducted over six months, found that daily meditation significantly reduced anxiety scores among college students. Study B, however, followed participants for two years and reported no lasting benefits compared to a control group that engaged in light exercise. Critics point out that the duration and intensity of practice may explain the discrepancy — short-term gains often fade without sustained effort.
7. Which statement best summarizes the relationship between the two studies?
A. Both studies agree that meditation reduces anxiety. B. Study B proves that meditation is useless. C. The studies examined different populations. D. Study A supports meditation; Study B contradicts its long-term effects.
8. The phrase "short-term gains often fade without sustained effort" suggests that ______.
A. meditation should be practiced daily for life B. the benefits of meditation disappear quickly unless maintained C. light exercise is better than meditation D. critics doubt the validity of both studies
A项daily for life属于额外条件,C项比较关系原文未涉及,D项与critics解释差异原因的表述不符。

Directions: Read the passage below. Then, for each statement, decide if it is a Correct Paraphrase, a Wrong Paraphrase (contradicts the text), or a Too Broad / Narrow Paraphrase (loses or adds key information). Provide a one-sentence justification for your choice.
Passage G
The concept of "digital twins" — virtual replicas of physical objects — is revolutionizing urban planning. In 2026, the city of Singapore unveiled a complete digital twin that simulates traffic flow, energy consumption, and even wind patterns in real-time. Planners can test the impact of a new skyscraper on the surrounding microclimate or predict how a festival might affect crowd movement before any physical change is made. This proactive approach saves millions in potential costs and reduces disruption to citizens' lives.
1. Statement: Digital twins allow city planners to predict outcomes of changes without implementing them physically.
□ Correct Paraphrase □ Wrong Paraphrase □ Too Broad / Narrow
Justification: ____________________________________________________
2. Statement: Singapore's digital twin can only simulate traffic and energy usage.
□ Correct Paraphrase □ Wrong Paraphrase □ Too Broad / Narrow
Justification: ____________________________________________________
3. Statement: The digital twin helps planners avoid the cost of testing ideas in the real world.
□ Correct Paraphrase □ Wrong Paraphrase □ Too Broad / Narrow
Justification: ____________________________________________________
4. Statement: Digital twins have become a standard tool for solving every problem in modern cities.
□ Correct Paraphrase □ Wrong Paraphrase □ Too Broad / Narrow
Justification: ____________________________________________________
1—Correct 2—Wrong 3—Correct 4—Too Broad
▍解析 1: 原文"test...before any physical change is made" = "predict outcomes without implementing them physically",句型转换 + 同义替换,信息量一致。
▍解析 3: 原文"saves millions in potential costs"与"test...before any physical change"合起来正是"避免在现实中试错的成本",属概括性转述,信息量守恒。
