4.B. how excited they were — 宾语从句用陈述语序,且 how 修饰形容词 excited。
5.B. would fix — 主句 promised 是过去时,从句用过去将来时 would fix。
6.B. that light travels faster than sound —
7.A。 B、D是疑问语序,直接排除;C的语序不对,正确说法是 what the matter is。而 what is wrong with it 本身就是主系表结构,what 作主语,语序没问题,所以选 A
8.D。 A、B缺少助动词,构不成特殊疑问句;C的从句部分 can you get 是疑问语序,排除。
固定搭配上,used to do 表示“过去常常/过去是”,be used to doing 表示“习惯做某事”。结合语境“我不在乎你过去是什么样子”,应该用 used to be like,所以选 B。

Later the trader Haley and his slaves(奴隶) started their journey on the Ohio River on a steamboat, the
LaBelle Riviere. It was crowded with people on the deck.
One day, Haley went on business at a small town. Later the trader returned with a black woman. She had a baby in her arms. She was smiling and wearing nice clothes with a large box.
As the La Belle Riviere started sailing, the woman sat down with her baby. Haley said something to her. She became worried."I don't believe it." Uncle Tom heard her say.
" Look here!" said Haley, showing her a document." This says your master sold you. Your name is Lucy, isn't it?"" He told me that I was going down to Louisville for a job as a cook at the same restaurant where my
husband works," said the woman. Then she became quiet, sat on her box, turned her back to the land and stared at the river.
At Louisville, when Lucy got up to the side of the steamboat, hoping to see her husband,a man took her
baby and got off— he paid 45 dollars for the baby. When they left Louisville, Lucy returned to her seat and
found her baby was missing.
" Lucy," said the trader," you couldn't take your child down south. I sold him to a very good family that will take care of him better than you." Lucy sat down. She looked calm.
"I know it's hard, at first, Lucy," he started," but you' re a clever lady and you' ll understand."
" Master, please don't talk to me now," said the woman.
Uncle Tom went to sit with Lucy, and tried to comfort her, but she didn't want to listen.
Night came and everybody went to sleep, but something woke Tom up at midnight. He saw something
move quickly to the side of the boat. And he heard a splash(落水声) in the water. He got up and saw that Lucy, wasn't there.
The next morning Haley wrote her name in his account book under losses. All the slaves became more
silent.

根据第一段"on the Ohio River on a steamboat, the La Belle Riviere.
He told me that I was going down to Louisville for a job as cook at the same restaurant where my husband works"可知,Lucy一开始笑是因为她以为自己要去丈夫工作的同一家餐馆做厨师,可以和丈夫相见、一起生活工作。
I sold him to a very good family that will take care of him better than you"可知,是商人Haley卖掉了Lucy的孩子。

Dear Tom,
I’m so glad to hear from you. And I understand your feeling about the busy study. As a Grade 9 student, my school life is also full of challenges, but I’ve found some ways to manage my time well.
First, I make a plan for daily tasks. I write down all the important tasks. Then I work out how much time I need for each one. This helps me stay organized and remind me not to forget anything. In addition, I carefully consider my tasks. I always do the most important or difficult ones first when I have the most energy. For example, I will work out my math problems before I get tired.
As for my hobbies, I love playing basketball, and I make sure to spend about half an hour on it every week. It’s important to have some fun, which helps keep a good balance between study and life.
Don't worry too much. Hope my experience will be helpful to you.
Yours,
Li Hua
