The benefits of travelling
[导读] 如果你想远离日常的烦忧,身心放松地投入到自然的怀抱;
如果你想开阔视野,重获新知;如果你想锤炼意志,增强责任感……那么,
就让我们一起去旅行吧!
Travelling is wonderful in many ways. It gives us a strong sense
of longing for more destinations to visit, more cultures to experience,
more food to eat, and more people to meet. It also lets us open our
mind to new things and experience new life in exciting and
different ways.

Travelling gives us the opportunity to say goodbye to our regular
life. Since we all have crazy schedules, work and a family to take care
of, going away alone or with some friends can give you distance and
perhaps even make you realize how important these people are to
you. Like the saying says: we never know what we have until we lose it.
Travelling gives us the relaxation we cannot get in the office. It’s
nice to live life to the fullest and enjoy the stress-free time with
ourselves. Going on vacation lets us recharge our “batteries” (电池)
by disconnecting us from our regular life. When we come back we
主题素养积累
feel refreshed and we are happy to be back in our day-to-day
routine (日常生活).
Travelling increases our knowledge and widens our perspective
(看法). It gives us a new perspective on life and helps us change some
of our habits or even create new ones. Discovering different values
and ways to get by in life is really interesting. Besides, we need to visit
new places of a new country and discover what this wonderful world
has to offer.
主题素养积累
Travelling makes us more responsible for ourselves. If we plan
travels ourselves, we will learn to manage our time and money
effectively. Taking care of our valuables like money, tickets and
passports can make us responsible and more aware of our
surroundings. Managing in a new city or country which we don’t
know too well can give us the confidence to stand on our own feet,
and make us aware that we can take care of ourselves.

Most of us travel with our parents as children and teenagers. For
some of us, during the travel, our parents are our inspiration. These
trips are normally full of rental cars, beaches, and hamburgers. My
family would go to Galiano Island every summer, and we did a week
in Mexico in 1995, and then we did two different trips to Anaheim to
experience the magic of Disney, Universal, and Knott’s Berry Farm.

I was in New Zealand for a study abroad, and invited my parents
to come down for a 2-week road trip around the North Island and
then 10 days in Fiji. Why not? They said, as if this was something they
were invited to do every day. I didn’t really plan anything, but my mum
had done some reading and I knew some highlights after living in New

I had booked a hotel for their first night in Auckland. The only

that neither of them had ever been in a country where you drive on
the left-hand side of the road and on the right-hand side of the car.
This led to me driving my parents around the entire North Island of
New Zealand for 2 weeks! But still, everybody had jobs. Dad had the

B [2026·广东茂名高一期中]
In recent years, the concept of “slow travel” has appeared as a
reaction to the fast-paced tourism that dominates (主宰) the industry.
Slow travel encourages travellers to engage deeply with local cultures,
stay longer in destinations, and form meaningful connections with
local communities.
One of the key principles of slow travel is to reduce environmental
impact. By choosing to stay in locally-owned accommodations, eating
at family-run restaurants, and using public transportation or bicycles,

travellers can greatly decrease their carbon footprint. For instance, a
study found that tourists who engage in slow travel produce up to
70% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to those on traditional
package tours.
Slow travel also allows a deeper cultural understanding. Instead
of rushing through tourist attractions, slow travellers take the time to
participate in local traditions, learn about historical importance, and
interact with locals. This not only enriches the travel experience but also

provides economic benefits to local communities. In some rural areas,
“slow travel” has helped preserve (保存) endangered crafts and save
dying traditions.
However, slow travel is not without challenges. It requires more
planning and flexibility (灵活), as travellers need to research local
customs, transportation options, and authentic (真实的) experiences.
Additionally, slow travel may not be feasible for everyone due to time
or budget limit. For busy professionals or families with limited vacation
days, spending weeks in a single destination may seem unrealistic.

9.__________
to stay
[解析] 考查非谓语动词。make up ones mind to do sth为固定搭配,
意为“下定决心做某事”,所以此处用动词不定式to stay。故填to stay。
10.________________
which/that
[解析] 考查定语从句。此处为定语从句,先行词为a feeling of wonder,
指物,在从句中作主语,所以用关系代词which或that引导。故填which/
that。
