(25-26高二上·湖北襄阳第四中学·期中)On a clear sunny day on the Georgia coast, ecotour guide Rene Heidt leads her guests on her boat through a narrow waterway. Unbroken grasses reach overhead, and there’s no building, power line, or cell tower in sight. It’s a perfect location for visitors to view a nearby mudflat (泥滩), where roughly300,000 shorebirds, including the roseate spoonbill and the whimbrel, come to eat, rest, and nest every year.
Heidt has had a 15-year career as an ecotour guide and much of what she shares on the tours comes from her experiences. But more recently, the University of Georgia’s Coastal Awareness and Responsible Ecotourism (CARE) certification (认证) program has been designed to support ecotour guides like Heidt, helping improve the information they share with tourists. The program offers up-to-date educational material and training to ecotour guides and provides certification that confirms their devotion to preserving the habitats.
While providing knowledge about Georgia’s natural resources, the CARE program also discusses how to visit some sensitive areas responsibly. Now, when Heidt gives boating tours, she rows with a light touch, moving almost silently across the water. When she shares facts about wildlife with her guests, she doesn’t speak louder than whispers. Actually, it’s a skill Heidt must have perfected in her previous career. “The program changes the way I give tours. It helps me to be more mindful of a boat’s influence on the very thing we are trying to teach people about,” she recalled.
Getting trained through the CARE program also benefits Heidt’s business. According to Heidt, the program allows her to learn more about this environment. And that’s knowledge she passes along to her guests. “It’s a fantastic coast,” she says. “And it’s important to share its beauty with others to help them realize that it is worth protecting.”
1.Why was the CARE program launched?
A. To offer the latest tour news.
B. To qualify and recognize ecotour guides.
C. To give aid to local education.
D. To share and publicize travel experience.
2.What may be the suggestion from the CARE program for visiting sensitive areas?
A. Reasonably arrange travel routes.
B. Save as much wildlife as possible.
C. Leave as little impact as possible.
D. Fully respect local cultural customs.
3.What is Heidt’s attitude towards the CARE program?
A. Doubtful. B. Tolerant. C. Uncertain. D. Favorable.
4.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A. Tending to Sensitive Coastal Areas
B. Reaching out to Ecotourism Supporters
C. Backing up Ecotourism in Georgia
D. Initiating a CARE Certification Journey

(25-26高二上·湖北十堰普通高中区县联合体·期中)If you fill a glass of tap water, or mineral water, or even water from a well, you might be drinking tiny pieces of plastic — microplastics. A growing number of studies have found these tiny plastics in drinking water sources around the world, and scientists are now warning about the potential risks to human health.
Microplastics are smaller than 5 millimeters in size. They come from a variety of sources. Some are from plastic bottles, food containers, and plastic bags as they age and wear down. Others are from some cosmetics (化妆品) — though many countries have banned these products. And some come from artificial fibers in clothing; when we wash clothes, tiny fibers fall off and enter the sewage systems (污水排放系统), which often aren’t designed to filter (过滤) out such small particles.
These microplastics then make their way into rivers, lakes, oceans, and even groundwater. A 2025 study conducted by the University of Michigan tested 100 tap water samples (样品) from 20 countries. They found microplastics in 83% of the samples, with an average of 5.4 particles per liter. Bottled water isn’t safer either. A separate study found microplastics in 92% of bottled water brands tested.
Scientists are still learning about how microplastics affect human health. In laboratory tests, microplastics have caused damage to liver cells and affected digestion in animals. But it’s unclear exactly how much microplastics humans take in, or what long-term effects are. “We know microplastics are in our bodies, but we don’t yet know if they’re causing harm,” said Dr. Lisa Miller.
To address the problem, scientists are working on better filtration technologies that can trap microplastics as small as 0.1 micrometers. Governments are also taking action: The European Union recently passed a law requiring water companies to test for microplastics and reduce their levels. And individuals can help by using fewer single-use plastics, choosing clothes made of natural fibers like cotton, and using washing machine to filter artificial fibers.
As Dr. Miller puts it: “We can’t undo the microplastics that are already in our water, but we can take steps to stop more from getting there. It’s a problem we can solve if we work together.”
1.What’s the main idea of the second paragraph?
A. The importance of filtration.
B. The harmful effects of microplastics.
C. The size of microplastics.
D. The different sources of microplastics.
2.How does the author present the information in paragraph 3?
A. By providing data.
B. By giving examples.
C. By making comparisons.
D. By giving definitions.
3.What can be inferred from the text?
A. Current technologies are fully able to filter microplastics out.
B. It’s too late to do anything about the problem.
C. Microplastics have already been proved to cause harm to human health.
D. Joint efforts should be made to prevent more microplastics.
4.What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To advertise a new water filtration technology.
B. To inform about microplastics in water and call for solutions.
C. To reveal the sources of microplastics.
D. To emphasize the harm of microplastics.

(25-26高二上·湖北武汉部分重点中学·期中)Mike Pavlik sees a lot while recovering stolen bikes around Minneapolis. Once, pretending to be a potential buyer, he dressed up in a sport coat and met a seller. Pavlik took note of the bike’s make, model and marking, confirming it was the one he was hunting. He asked to take it for a test ride. The seller wanted some collateral (抵押物).
“Do I look like the kind of guy that steals bikes?” Pavlik recalls asking the man. Then he just pedaled off. An hour later, the seller texted him, “I guess you're not coming back?”
Pavlik is part of an unusual army: amateur detectives who find stolen bikes and return them to their owners. As bike theft becomes more profitable, grassroots efforts to crack down on thieves are springing up nationwide. The volunteers say recovering bikes can be strangely fun and addictive.
Pavlik, who is 51, works for Twin Cities Stolen Bikes, which has a Facebook page with 11,000 members. The volunteer group reunites owners with their wheels, often by tracking stolen bikes for sale on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUP, Craiglist or eBay, and then facing suspected thieves.
Pavlik likes helping victims almost as much as punishing thieves. For Pavlik, recovering someone’s bikes is a big deal. “It’s how they get to work, and lack of transportation leads to losing a job,” he says. “So it’s helping those folks where it really matters.”
Bike theft is big business. Close to 2 million bikes are stolen each year in North America, costing cyclists nearly $1 billion, compared with $500 million 10 years ago.
“It’s been bananas lately.” says Bryan Hance, who helps run Bike Index, where cyclists can register their bikes online for free and report them stolen. More than 16,000 stolen bikes were reported last year versus 11,000 in 2019. Hance says the thefts aren’t top priority for police, creating space for volunteers. Police say they take bike theft seriously, though manpower to tackle it is a challenge.
1.What did Pavlik do according to the first two paragraphs?
A. He played a joke on the thief.
B. He bought a bike from the thief.
C. He helped the thief in a friendly way.
D. He recovered a stolen bike strategically.
2.What can we infer about Mike Pavlik?
A. He has a sense of justice.
B. He likes making fun of others.
C. He is a professional detective.
D. He is humorous and outgoing.
3.What does the author try to stress in paragraph 5?
A. The role of transportation.
B. The significance of Pavlik’s work.
C. The importance of having a job.
D. The consequence of stealing bikes.
4.What does the underlined part in paragraph 7 mean?
A. Things have been crazy.
B. The situation has improved.
C. Great changes have taken place.
D. New policies have been adopted.

(25-26高二上·湖北圆创联盟·期中)In late August, MiltonToday published my letter, Newcomers find joy in Milton’s ‘little things’. Having lived here a bit longer, my family has more observations to share. Countless small, kind daily details continue to pleasantly surprise us, and we believe these impactful touches deserve recognition.
Canadian paper money features six raised dots, a tactile feature to help people suffering loss of vision identify bills by the tips of fingers. Other accessibility details, like large, high-contrast numbers and unique colors for each bill, also stand out. This small yet thoughtful focus on accessibility has left a deep impression on us.
The playground at Kiddo’s primary school isn’t fenced (用栅栏围住) in. When the children asked, “How far can we go into the woods during the breaks?” their teachers claimed no rules against it. It turns out that students’ free periods are truly their own. Trusting young people to make good choices feels like a wonderful issue in their future well-being.
We were glad to see multiple bins for careful trash separation in Kiddo’s classroom — and even tongs (夹子) hung above them. “Those are for fixing mistakes,” Kiddo explained. It’s heartening that our child is learning not only the importance of waste sorting but also that correcting errors is equally valued.
French is everywhere here. Kiddo has four French classes a week, and we appreciate the bilingual (用两种语言的) signs, labels, and GO Train announcements. Bilingualism, essential for holding Canada together, also brings understanding and social benefits to individuals, including mental flexibility, improved memory, and an upgraded sense of belonging.
We hope you enjoyed reading about every drop of effort with enormous societal payoffs. Are there things we dislike here? Of course — from bothersome insects to sometimes unfriendly drivers. We’re not viewing Canada through rose-colored glasses.
But as Thanksgiving approaches, we wish to express our gratitude for everything here that contributes to a greater sense of well-being. We’re thankful for Milton!
1.What does the underlined word “tactile” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Related to the sense of touch.
B. Large enough to be seen clearly.
C. Unique to the nation’s currency.
D. Based on advanced digital technology.
2.What can be inferred about the education in Milton?
A. It follows a standard national teaching pattern.
B. It integrates modern tools into safety and learning.
C. It emphasizes independence and learning from errors.
D. It focuses primarily on the mastery of factual knowledge.
3.Why does the author mention “insects and drivers” in paragraph 6?
A. To challenge widely held idealized beliefs.
B. To voice a growing sense of disappointment.
C. To present an objective and realistic viewpoint.
D. To signal a shift in tone from criticism to praise.
4.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To discuss the educational system in Milton in depth.
B. To share positive personal experiences of living in Milton.
C. To advocate for the adoption of Canadian policies worldwide.
D. To point out the inconveniences of living in a foreign country.

(25-26高二上·湖北武汉中学·期中)To say that the child learns by imitation and that the way to teach is to set a good example seems oversimplified. No child imitates every action he sees. Sometimes, the example the parent wants him to follow is ignored while he takes over contrary patterns from some other example. Therefore, we must turn to a more subtle theory than “Monkey see, monkey do”.
Look at it from the child’s point of view. Here he is in a new situation, lacking a ready response. He is seeking a response which will gain certain ends. If he lacks a ready response for the situation, and cannot reason out what to do, he observes a model who seems able to get the right result. The child looks for an authority or expert who can show what to do.
There is a second element at work in this situation. The child may be able to achieve his immediate goal only to find that his method brings criticism from people who observe him. When shouting across the house achieves his immediate end of delivering a message, he is told emphatically that such a screaming is unpleasant, that he should walk into the next room and say his say quietly. Thus, the desire to solve any objective situation is overlaid with the desire to solve it properly. One of the early things the child learns is that he gets more affection and approval when his parents like his response. Then other adults award some actions and criticize others. If one is to maintain the support of others and his own self-respect, he must adopt responses his social group approves.
In finding trial responses, the learner does not choose models at random. He imitates the person who seems a good person to be like, rather than a person whose social status he wished to avoid. If the pupil wants to be good violinist, he will observe and try to copy the techniques of capable players.
Admiration of one quality often leads us to admire a person as a whole, and he becomes an identifying figure. We use some people as models over a wide range of situations, imitating much that they do. We learn that they are dependable and rewarding models because imitating them leads to success.
1.According to the passage, to teach a child to learn something, parents should ________.
A. view from the child’s perspective
B. simplify each action shown to the child
C. follow the theory of imitation
D. set a good example for the child to copy
2.Which of the following situation will lead a child to seek for a model?
A. The child comes up with a solution to an issue.
B. The child is blamed by parents for his/her wrongdoing.
C. The child encounters a professional who can get the right result.
D. The child is in trouble and cannot figure out an approach.
3.It can be inferred that children usually imitate people ________.
A. whose talent and skill are extraordinary
B. whose actions are consistent with theirs
C. whom they want to be shaped into
D. who enjoy a high social status
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A. The reason for parenting by imitation.
B. The factors determining children’s imitation.
C. The significance of learning by imitation.
D. The way children choose models.

The volunteer group reunites owners with their wheels, often by tracking stolen bikes for sale on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUP, Craiglist or eBay, and then facing suspected thieves.(现年51岁的帕夫利克在“双城失窃自行车”组织工作,该组织在脸书上有一个拥有1.1万名成员的页面。这个志愿者团体经常通过追踪在Facebook Marketplace、OfferUP、Craiglist或eBay等平台上出售的被盗自行车,与疑似盗贼交涉,从而让失主找回他们的自行车)”以及第五段“Pavlik likes helping victims almost as much as punishing thieves. For Pavlik, recovering someone’s bikes is a big deal. “It’s how they get to work, and lack of transportation leads to losing a job,” he says. “So it’s helping those folks where it really matters.”(帕夫利克喜欢帮助受害者,其程度几乎不亚于惩治盗贼。 故选A。

词句猜测题。根据第六段“Bike theft is big business. Close to 2 million bikes are stolen each year in North America, costing cyclists nearly $1 billion, compared with $500 million 10 years ago.(自行车盗窃是一笔大生意。 故选A。

推理判断题。根据第六段“ Are there things we dislike here? Of course — from bothersome insects to sometimes unfriendly drivers. We’re not viewing Canada through rose-colored glasses. (这里有我们不喜欢的东西吗?当然有——从恼人的昆虫到有时不友好的司机。我们并没有戴着玫瑰色眼镜看待加拿大。)”以及前文第三段中“The playground at Kiddo’s primary school isn’t fenced (用栅栏围住) in. (在Kiddo小学的操场没有围栏。)”以及第四段中“We were glad to see multiple bins for careful trash separation in Kiddo’s classroom — and even tongs (夹子) hung above them. (我们很高兴在Kiddo的教室里看到了多个用于垃圾分类的垃圾桶——而且上面还挂着夹子。)”可知,此处描述了加拿大的各种优点,但在此处提及“讨厌的昆虫和偶尔不友好的司机”这些不愉快的细节,其目的是为了表明自己的评价是全面而客观的,并非一味赞美。C选项“To present an objective and realistic viewpoint.(为了呈现一个客观和现实的观点)”符合语境。故选C项。
(4)题解析:

主题语境01 人与自我-做人与做事

D. The child is in trouble and cannot figure out an approach.
3.It can be inferred that children usually imitate people ________.
A. whose talent and skill are extraordinary
B. whose actions are consistent with theirs
C. whom they want to be shaped into
D. who enjoy a high social status
