第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Located in eastern France, right on the border with Germany, Strasbourg is a melting pot of both cultures. Here are four historic German towns to visit near Strasbourg.
Gengenbach
This village has a well-maintained and medieval(中世纪的) town center, showing you into a folktale from ancient times. Surrounded by the Black Forest, it’s also a scenic spot for visitors to wander around. Don’t miss out on the Lowenberg Palace nearby, which combines history inside the 18th-century home with modern art exhibits.
Freiburg
Named Germany’s greenest city, Freiburg is covered with leaves and crossed by cycling paths. It’s also famous for its 13th-century Gothic church, which stands high into the sky. The nearby Shauinsland Mountain is recommended. It gives you a jaw-dropping view of the Rhine Valley and Black Forest.
Gutach
There’s no direct train between Strasbourg and Gutach, meaning you’ll need to switch. Ultimately, that makes the journey longer. If you enjoy nature and want to immerse yourself in the Black Forest, it’s worth the trouble.
You can take private tours of the forest. There’s also a very long slide that lets you get down a local mountain. But the coolest offer is the Open Air Museum that showcases how locals lived in the past.
Baden-Baden
Nearby is the world-famous spa town of Baden-Baden. It’s also home to one of Europe’s oldest continuously running hotels and a range of unique museums. Baden-Baden should be on your list if you enjoy a good soak at the spa.
It’s been a spa town home to saunas, pools, and other specialty baths since Roman times. That’s right: it was founded 2,000 years ago thanks to its healing mineral-water springs, where Roman officials and soldiers used to relax.
21. What do we know about Gengenbach
A. It is in need of urgent protection.
B. It is a hot-place for forest walks.
C. It is Germany’s greenest village.
D. It is famous for the Rhine Valley.
22. What is the drawback of travelling to Gutach
A. Private vehicles are prohibited.
B. Gutach lacks historic elements.
C. Visitors have to change trains.
D. The journey is costly and risky.

C
It’s long been popular advice for people looking to lose weight to avoid late night eating. It’s no wonder, with a host of research showing that late night eating is linked to greater body weight. But until now, few studies have actually investigated why. This is what a recent US study set out to uncover.
Researchers had 16 participants follow two different meal schedules, each for a period of six days total. The first group had their meals early in the day with the last meal consumed six hours and 40 minutes before bedtime. The second group had their daily meals four hours later. This meant they skipped breakfast and instead had lunch, dinner and an evening meal. Their last meal was consumed only two and a half hours before sleep. All the participants consumed an identical diet, and all of their meals were equally spaced with around four hours between them.
The researchers looked at three measures associated with weight gain: the influence of appetite, the impact of eating time on calories burned, and changes of fat tissue. They found that compared to an early eating pattern, late eating not only increased feelings of hunger the following day, it also increased the rate of “hunger” hormones (荷尔蒙) in the blood. Late eating also caused a decrease in calories burned the following day. Fat tissue samples taken from the participants also showed the increased fat storage. These results reveal that late eating could lead to weight gain.
Given the study was only conducted on a limited number of participants and over a very short time, more research will be needed to further understand whether these changes are only temporary, and what effects long-term late-night eating can have on the weight gain mechanisms (机制).
Anyway this study adds to a growing body of evidence showing just how important meal timing can be when it comes to body weight. Therefore, people who are watching their weight may want to quit the late-night snacks and favor eating most of their meals earlier.
28. What do we know about the second group in the study?
A. They had breakfast four hours later than normal.
B. Their meals differed from those of the first group.
C. They had daily meals roughly every fourth hour.
D. Their late night meal lasted for about 150 minutes.
29. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. Discoveries of the study. B. Causes of feeling hungry.
C. Measures of gaining weight. D. Advantages of dieting early.
30. Which of the following is a result of late eating?
A. The slow intake of nutrition. B. The gradual fall of appetite.
C. The increase of blood pressure. D. The quick gathering of fat.
31. What is the drawback of the study?
A. A small number of participants and trial days.
B. The different times of eating in the two groups.
C. Ignoring more measures related to weight gain.
D. Collecting tissue samples only from volunteers.
【答案】28. C 29. A 30. D 31. A

【29题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第三段“They found that compared to an early eating pattern, late eating not only increased feelings of hunger the following day, it also increased the rate of “hunger” hormones in the blood. Late eating also caused a decrease in calories burned the following day. Fat tissue samples taken from the participants also showed the increased fat storage. These results reveal that late eating could lead to weight gain. (他们发现,与早进食模式相比,晚进食不仅会增加第二天的饥饿感,还会增加血液中“饥饿”激素的含量。晚进食也会导致第二天燃烧的卡路里减少。从参与者身上提取的脂肪组织样本也显示了脂肪储存的增加。这些结果表明,晚进食会导致体重增加)”可知,该段主要介绍了这项研究的发现。故选A项。
【30题详解】

Electronic waste, or e-waste, is the name given to old electronic devices that get thrown away. These can include old computers, phones, TVs, as well as all kinds of other electronics.
As newer, more advanced devices come out, huge amounts of electronics are thrown away, instead of being recycled. They often end up in landfills, where the chemicals inside them may be a threat to the environment. Electronics can contain hazardous materials, like lead or mercury (水银). If these materials get into the ground or water, they cause serious problems.
Most electronics require rare metals. These metals, like gold and copper, must be mined from the earth. Often the mining process creates serious pollution. In many cases, these rare metals are harder to find. If more e-waste was recycled, many rare metals could be taken from old electronics instead of being mined.
Researchers are trying to make people more aware of the problems of e-waste. Recently, they studied a kind of e-waste that’s often not noticed because people don’t consider the items to be electronics. Researchers call this category “invisible” e-waste. The study revealed about 1/6 of all e-waste is “invisible” and that the value of this unseen waste is actually about $9.5 billion a year.
Though it’s “invisible”, it’s certainly not a small amount. The invisible e-waste weighs about 19.8 billion pounds. Researchers say that if this e-waste were piled into 40-ton trucks and the trucks were then lined up, the line of trucks would stretch for about 3,500 miles.
The surprising category leading the invisible e-waste group was toys. Worldwide, roughly 7.3 billion electronic toys are thrown away each year. But the problem is far larger than just toys. The study also shows that other everyday items like home alarms, smoke alarms, power tools, and computer cables are also big sources of invisible e-waste.
Researchers are hoping that as more people become aware of e-waste, they will make much greater efforts to make sure electronics get re-used or recycled.
32. What is the purpose of Paragraph 1?
A. To propose a definition. B. To present a conclusion.
C. To blame wasteful habits. D. To arouse readers’ reflection.
33. What does the underlined word “hazardous” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Invisible. B. Precious. C. Stable. D. Dangerous.
34. Why did researchers carry out study on e-waste?
A. To obtain much financial support.
B. To sort out waste more accurately.
C. To raise public awareness of e-waste.
D. To promote the closedown of mining.
35. What can we know about the invisible e-waste?
A. It’s too tiny to be seen by the eyes. B. It’s massive and remains a threat.
C. It benefits waste-collectors most. D. It comes from electronic toys only.
【答案】32. A 33. D 34. C 35. B

There was a time when I lived alone in quite a large apartment which is 60 square meters right in the city center. I lived there alone because my former roommate had moved out, and I could afford to keep renting it. It was nice and had an open-space format. I was something like the first tenant (租户) after it had been decorated, and it was the envy of many of my friends.
At that time, I used to take several two-to-three-week hitchhiking trips throughout the year, during which the flat was basically empty. My best friend Lucy was living far from the city center. The Bus there took about 40 minutes and it ran something like once every two hours or so. I told Lucy she could have the key when I was gone. I didn’t have any plants to take care of, but if she wanted to, she and her friends — whom I also knew — could hang out whenever they liked. I trusted her completely, and so they did.
The day after I returned from one of these trips, I looked around the flat and noticed something different. I immediately texted my friend and asked, “Why are the walls in the flat somewhat whiter than they used to be?”
I immediately got a call back. Lucy said, “I’m sorry. I meant to tell you the story, but I haven’t had the chance since you got back.” Apparently, she and two of her friends were hanging out at my place one day, and one of them got a cold can of soda. Can you already see where this is going? The can burst, getting the couch and two large walls in a corner dirty. The girl with the can was shocked by what she had caused, and Lucy sighed and told the other two that I had trusted them with the place.
Lucy tried to comfort the girl, saying they would fix it.

The painter arrived, examined the walls, and confidently announced he could correct the color.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文:
Lucy tried to comfort the girl, saying they would fix it. But when they went to buy paint, they realized that they had no idea about the original color code. They guessed and bought a shade that they thought was similar. However, after painting, the walls looked completely off – not just whiter. They were quite disappointed. Lucy started researching paint color-matching online. Just as she was about to give up, she found a local painter who claimed to be able to fix any color-mismatch. With a glimmer of hope, they invited him over.
The painter arrived, examined the walls, and confidently declared he could correct the color. He mixed some paints right. As he applied the new mixture, they watched, holding their breath. Slowly but surely, the walls started to regain a more familiar color. It was a relief when the painter finished, and the walls looked almost as good as before the soda incident. This experience taught us all a valuable lesson about handling unexpected situations, and our friendship grew even stronger. That’s friendship. There was a lot more between us.

I have an appointment with my dentist. What about next monday? perfect. I'll try to arrange my work so that I can have a couple of days off next week. If we drive there, i'll need to fill up the tank. No need. I think it's still plenty full. I would rather travel by bus or by train. IT would cost much less than driving. We can take the train. IT will be faster. I'll books the tickets tomorrow afternoon. great. Oh, one more thing. Don't forget to check the weather forecast before we go. I hate to head out for a visit to the countryside and then have nothing but rain. No problem. I'm really looking forward to the coming week. Me too. I'll make a list of what we need to take with us. I, darling, I have a one month vacation saved up. How about a trip to europe? We haven't been there before. I could go for that, but i'm afraid our budget is a little tight this year.
23. Which place suits most if one is fond of water
A. Gutach B. Freiburg C. Gengenbach D. Baden-Baden

Bruce, an international student from Ghana, has undertaken an inspiring journey from his home country to China, driven by his passion for aerospace technology. Now pursuing a PhD in Aerospace Science and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an, he is deeply involved in research on propellant combustion (推进剂燃烧).
Bruce’s fascination with aerospace began in his youth. Growing up in Ghana he was attracted by the Chinese classic “Journey to the West,” which was often broadcast on national television. “I love Sun Wukong, because even though he has weaknesses, he still tries to give his best self,” Bruce said.
This inspiration led him to choose a specialized university in Ghana that offered aerospace majors. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Bruce set his sights on China to further his studies. In 2022, Bruce completed his master’s degree at the Beijing Institute of Technology. To conduct more research on propellant combustion, he moved to Xi’an to pursue a PhD at the School of Aerospace Science and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University. The open experimental environment and diverse academic activities there have broadened his horizons.
“We do experiments that are really advanced in the development of the space industry in China and the whole world,” said Bruce, adding that he values this experience because it reflects a can-do attitude.
Bruce’s parents initially thought that studying aerospace was “unrealistic.” However, his experiences in China have strengthened his resolution and increased his confidence in China’s aerospace industry. Bruce said every time there’s a launch, he will watch the entire video.
During his study in China, Bruce has consistently achieved excellent grades and received numerous honors. He attributes these to the cooperation and traditional friendship between China and Africa. As more international students join the program, Bruce began sharing the story of China’s aerospace industry with a wider audience.
Bruce aims to contribute to the advancement of rocket engine design through his studies and hard work. Looking ahead, he dreams of joining the Chinese space station as an aerospace engineer.
24. Why did Bruce have a passion for aerospace at his early age?
A. Because he was influenced by “Journey to the West”.
B. Because he was brought up in a family of astronauts.
C. Because he regarded aerospace as a promising major.
D. Because he hoped to contribute to Ghana’s aerospace industry.
25. What benefited Bruce most while studying at Northwestern Polytechnical University?
A. The friendly and helpful students. B. The fine experimental conditions.
C. The ancient culture of Xi’an City. D. The cultural and sports activities.
26. What attitude did Bruce’s parents probably take to his major at first?
A. Confident. B. Disapproving. C. Ambiguous. D. Uncaring.
27. Which proverb best describes Bruce’s experience?
A. Time and tide wait for no man. B. Actions speak louder than words.
C. You can’t eat your cake and have it. D. Nothing is difficult to a willing heart.

D
