Research tells us that grateful people are happier and more likely to keep good friendships. Being grateful reduces stress, improves our sleep, and energizes us. It is not only when someone does you a favour that you should express your gratitude. There are many more occasions where you may try saying thank you.;②场合一:Say thank you when you're running late——Being late is bad both for you and for others. It's stressful for the person who is running late and it's disrespectful to the person who is waiting. It might seem strange to thank someone for waiting for you, but in some cases, that's exactly the correct response. Most people rush in the door and say, "Sorry I'm late." The problem is that this response still may not make the other person(s) feel better about your being late. Saying "Thank You" instead means you are expressing your gratitude to the other person(s) for caring enough to wait for you. You walk in the door 15 minutes late. Instead of saying: "So sorry I'm late. Traffic was awful out there." Try saying: "Thank you for your patience." When we make a mistake, someone else often pays for it. Our response is to apologize for our failure, but a better way is to praise their patience and support. Thank them for what they did for you.;③场合二:Say thank you when you're receiving unfair criticism——Sometimes criticism isn't helpful at all. It may even be mean. One of the best ways to deal with it is to just say thank you and move on. This might be good advice for beginners, but anyone who knows what they are doing will find this useless." Instead of saying: "Well, clearly, I wrote this for beginners. This might be a surprise, but not everything was written with you in mind." Try saying: "Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'll try to improve next time." Your statement is the worst thing I've ever read." Instead of saying: "You're an idiot. Let me tell you why..." Try saying: "Thank you for the feedback. I still have a lot to learn.";④收束:A simple "thank you" and a show of appreciation can make all the difference. That's why it's important not only to practice gratitude yourself but also to help develop a culture of gratitude in your school.;⑤追问:为什么「谢谢你的耐心」比「对不起我迟到了」更有效? (5’) ①Activity 2(Post-reading):Group role-play——Students make short dialogues for being late and receiving criticism, using key words, then perform in class.;②要求:每组任选一个情境,须含「刺激语句 + Instead of saying... + Try saying...」 B(Reading can transform a lazy person into a hard-working learner.);②be grateful to sb. for sth. (I am grateful to my teachers for their constant guidance.);③energize v. (Morning jogs always energize me for the whole day's study.);④do sb. a favour 帮某人一个忙;owe sb. a favour 欠人情;Could you do me a favour and hand me the notebook on the desk?;⑤on...occasion 在……场合(Weddings and birthdays are important social occasions.);⑥stressful (Exams are always stressful for students who lack preparation.);⑦disrespectful 无礼的(It is disrespectful to interrupt others while they are speaking.);⑧in some cases 在某些情况下;in most cases 在大多数情况下;in this case 在这种情况下;in that case 既然那样;in any case 无论如何(In some cases, gentle words can solve conflicts faster than arguments.);⑨in response to 作为对……的回应;make/give a response 作出答复(Her warm smile was a soft response to my greeting.);⑩apologize to sb. for sth. (You must apologize to your deskmate for breaking his ruler.);⑪criticism n. 批评(We should listen to useful criticism to improve ourselves.);⑫get/receive feedback (Teachers often give timely feedback on our homework.);⑬in appreciation of 为感谢……;art appreciation 艺术鉴赏(We prepared small gifts in appreciation of volunteers' hard work.)。 应用实践 内化与运用 apologize to sb. for sth. 搭配运用;in... case 短语组辨析 Step 6 单元自查 复盘梳理 (6’) ①Self-check 表逐项自查——I can talk about the importance of communication:Sometimes friends have misunderstandings. / Friendship requires good communication. / If we can't communicate well, we likely have difficulty getting along with our friends or partners. / Good communication can make teamwork easier. / Communication can help people succeed in their jobs.;I can talk about some communication tips:Remember other people's names. / Smile. / Find a proper topic. / Be a good listener. / Be honest. / Keep your promises.;I know how to solve problems in the teamwork:It's always better to get things out in the open — talk about a problem, come to a solution, and move on. / When there is a problem, it is better to talk it out and find ways to solve it.;②每项请学生自评 ✓ / 待提高,并填写 Improvement needed(需要改进之处);③同桌互查复述,教师抽查 2—3 名学生。 You and me——You and me, from one world, we are family. Come together, put your hand in mine.;②跟唱一遍,体会歌曲中「相聚与沟通」的主题,呼应本单元Communication 的单元主题。 A simple "thank you" and a show of appreciation can make all the difference.——迟到时致谢耐心、受不公批评时致谢反馈;本单元核心:沟通很重要,坦诚交流解决问题;②完成巩固检测并即时核对(见作业设计);③布置分层作业(见作业设计):复习整个单元,预习下一课。
