Today was a wonderful day in Jingdezhen, and it was my first time coming here. The city is famous for its ceramics The landscape made a deep impression (印象) on me on my arrival. There are many mountains around the city, and the air is very fresh.
First, I visited the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum. There are so many beautiful ceramic pieces from different times. There are also some fine artworks made hundreds of years ago with beautiful pictures on them. Making ceramics needs many steps and a lot of skills. I was surprised at the complexity (复杂性) of the work. I tried to make a small piece of ceramic myself. It was hard for a boy like me, but I succeeded in making one.
Then I went to the Ancient Kiln Site Park It was very interesting to see the places where the ancient workers used to make ceramics. I really wanted to know how the workers made ceramics. In the park, I watched an artist painting a plate. He was very creative. I found myself deeply drawn by his way of making ceramics. I tried making a small bowl with his guidance. It seemed like a piece of cake, but I failed to complete it. Finally, I bought a small ceramic cup as a souvenir for myself. It was a great way to remember the visit to Jingdezhen.
I really enjoyed my day in Jingdezhen. It is a place full of history and art. I can understand why it is called the “Porcelain Capital (瓷都)”. I believe I will have more chances to revisit it and learn more about ceramic culture in the future.

Dear Tom,
I'm the child of your host family (寄宿家庭) in Canada. Welcome to my family as an exchange (交换) student. I’m really happy to tell you how we decorated your room.
Yesterday my parents and I spent one day making it look great! First, we thought that the walls looked a little old, so we decided to paint them blue. We went to the store near our house and chose the best blue paint. We also bought some paintbrushes. It took us a few hours, but the walls looked much better when we finished. After painting, we put up some photos. We found a few of your favourite pictures and stuck (粘贴) them on the walls. They made the room feel more like home. Then, we used stickers (贴纸), like cute animals and nice plants, to make the walls interesting. We put them all around the room. We also moved your desk close to the window so you could have more sunlight to study. And we put your books on the table and they are tidy. Now the room looks quite different.
I hope you like what we did. If there’s anything else you want to change, just let me know. I can’t wait to see you! Best wishes!

Last Saturday, Lily’s family decided to relax at home. Lily was really unhappy because she didn’t like staying at home at weekends.
“I really want to go to the beach,” Lily said sadly. “I want to make sandcastles (沙堡) and swim in the sea.”
Lily’s mom sat down beside her and gave her a hug, “Let’s make this home holiday just as special! How about starting by cleaning together? After that, we can cook together,” her mom said.
As they worked, Lily cleaned the floor and said, “This isn’t as fun as traveling. It is so boring.” Her little brother Tom, who was cleaning the windows, said happily, “But we can decorate the living room after cleaning! Let’s put up balloons to make it more beautiful!”
Their dad nodded, “Good idea. And then we’ll make dumplings together.”
When it was time to cook, Lily was still a little sad. She learned to make dumplings from her mother. “Mom, my dumplings look ugly!” Lily said. Her mom laughed, “Just pinch (捏) the dumpling like this. Practice makes perfect.”
Tom was making fruit salad with Dad. He showed it to Lily, “Look, I added many strawberries. I know you like eating strawberries.” He said excitedly.
That evening, sitting around the table, Lily’s family really had a great time together. After dinner, they took a walk around the lake near their house. Lily thought it was a great holiday after all.

1.第二段Lily说“I really want to go to the beach... I want to make sandcastles and swim in the sea”,第四段她一边打扫地板一边说“This isn’t as fun as traveling. It is so boring.”;结合上文“Let’s make this home holiday just as special! How about starting by cleaning together?”及“Lily cleaned the floor”可知,This指代她此刻正在做的Cleaning the floor。
I added many strawberries. I know you like eating strawberries.”

Every Saturday, 14-year-old Mia had to help wash clothes. But she hated it. One day, when her mother asked her to wash socks, she complained and threw them into the basket, “Why me?” Her mother was cleaning the kitchen floor and answered, “We’re a family, aren’t we?”
Mia felt upset. Her friend Emma’s house was always clean because they had a cleaner. “Why don’t we hire a cleaner (清洁工)?” Mia asked. Her mother replied, “Doing chores teaches responsibility (责任).”
Last week, Mia’s history teacher gave a project called “Hidden Heroes.” While researching, Mia found a story about Mierle Ukeles, an artist from the 1970s. Ukeles called housework “art” and even cleaned museums to show its importance. Mia was surprised—could chores be special?
That weekend, Mia noticed things she had never seen before: her father fixed the sink (水槽), ________, and her brother watered flowers carefully outside. She realized their home needed everyone’s care.
For her project, Mia made a video and showed pride in her family’s Saturday chores. She wrote funny titles like “Dad: Fixer and Breakfast Maker” and “Mom: Cleaning Boss.” When she showed the video, her classmates loved it. Emma said, “Maybe chores aren’t so bad.”
Now, Mia loves washing, and she understands its value. As Ukeles said, “In fact, chores aren’t boring— they keep life going well.”

1.根据第一段中“One day, when her mother asked her to wash socks, she complained…”

“Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?” It is popular among young people around China today. Many people are interested in it so that they take a personality test (测验) named MBTI test to find out the answer.
Many people find the MBTI useful. It groups people into 16 types (类型), which start with the letter “I” or “E”, such as ENTJ or INFP. “E” is short for “Extroversion” while “I” is for “Introversion”. “I’m an ‘E’ person. I should go to the party and make more friends.” “I’m an ‘I’ person, I’d like to work by myself. I could be a writer in the future.” They believe different types can help them make decisions for activities, jobs or even life choices more quickly.
But there are also problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it hard to answer some questions. “I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?”
When you take a personality test, you may think, “Oh, that’s me.” That’s because the descriptions (描述) are generic. They can describe many people. Studies found that over 50% people get a different result when they took the MBTI test again just five weeks later. “Personalities can change with time, and they are not “black-or-white”, scientists say. You may be an “I” person now but become an “E” person when you get older. Or, you can be both an “I” person and an “E” person. Don’t label (贴标签) yourself! Studies also show that the test is not real at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.
1.What is MBTI according to the text?
A.It’s a test about interests. B.It’s a test for the personality type. C.It’s a test about young people in China.
2.If you are an “E” person, what may you like to do?
A.To cook meals at home at weekends.
B.To read books in the library on vacation.
C.To have fun at different festivals with different people.
3.What does the underlined word “generic” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Common. B.Special. C.Different.
4.Why does the writer write the text?
A.To help people understand MBTI right.
B.To explain why MBTI is becoming welcome.
C.To encourage more people to try the MBTI test.
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.A 4.A

4.文章介绍了MBTI的用途和问题,最后指出“Don’t label yourself!...don’t take it too seriously.”,目的是帮助人们正确理解MBTI。
What would you do if you and your best friend had different ideas? At first, I didn’t know what to do when I found that my best friend Cathy disagreed (不同意) with me on some things.
When we first met at a summer camp, we got along so well.
But then something happened at a picnic. “Did you hear about the shopping center news?” asked one of our friends, Luna. “They want to cut down lots of trees to make room for a shopping center.”
“That’s terrible! We have to stop that,” I said.

“But animals would lose their homes!” I said. “I want people to have jobs, but it doesn’t mean cutting down trees.”
I wished Cathy could agree with me about saving the trees, but she had her reasons for believing what she said. I was so angry that I didn’t talk to her for days.
Later, my mother knew it and said to me, “No two people are the same. You should respect (尊重) each other. And no matter what happens, the difference doesn’t mean losing a good friend.”

Trees are one of the oldest plants of our Earth. They keep our air clean, make less pollution, make water cleaner and provide food and building materials.
Just like us, trees change a lot as they grow. At one to three years old, young trees learn how to protect themselves. For example, many trees grow thorns (刺) to stop animals from going near.
At the age of four, trees begin to grow very quickly and become strong enough to face many difficulties (困难) later in life. At the age of 15, trees become young adults They grow more slowly and begin to produce (长出) flowers and fruit.
When the tree is 20 to 25 years old, it becomes a real adult. The tree reaches its largest size. It gives us shade and provides a great place for a tree house, or a place for us to read a book, listen to music and so on. If we all learn how to protect the adult tree, it will live healthily for many years.
Little by little, trees begin to grow older and older and even die. At this time, older trees are still very important in nature. When a tree becomes hollow or part of it dies, it can be a home to small animals.
In many ways, the life of a tree is similar (相似的) to our own life. When looking at the life of a tree, we should enjoy every minute of its life and take care of the tree!

4.What can we infer (推测) from this article?
A.We can find flowers and fruit on 4-year-old trees.
B.Older trees can be great places for people to live.
C.An adult tree can live long and well if we all learn how to protect it.
D.The life of the tree is the same as the life of people.

Chickens are common but very important animals. Their eggs and meat help feed many people every day. But did you know that people have been keeping chickens for thousands of years?
Chickens came from a wild (野生的) bird called the red junglefowl (原鸡) . This bird lived mainly in Southeast Asia. About 4,000 years ago, people in Thailand began feeding these birds. Later, they took them to other parts of the world, like Africa and Europe.
At first, people did not eat chickens. They saw them as special pets. But they soon found out how palatable a chicken could be. Around 400 BC, people in Israel started eating chickens more often. After that, people across Europe, Asia and Africa began raising (养殖) chickens on farms.
Chickens came to North America much later. A few arrived from South America before the 10th century (世纪) . But many more came with the European people in the 1500s.
In the US, chicken meat was once for rich people. During the Great Depression (大萧条时期) , poor families began raising chickens too. Later, new ways to feed chickens helped farmers raise them safely in great numbers. Now, there are over 30 billion (十亿) chickens in the world! That’s more than any other kind of bird.

The Venus flytrap (捕蝇草) is an amazing meat-eating plant growing in a small area of North Carolina and South Carolina in the United States. While most plants get their “food” from the soil, this clever hunter uses special leaves to catch insects. Each leaf acts like a tiny green mouth with special hairs.
When an insect touches one of the hairs, the leaf is triggered (触发), but it doesn’t close right away. However, if the insect touches a second hair within 20 seconds, the leaf closes quickly and catches the insect inside. This “double-touch rule” stops the plant from wasting energy on things like drops of rain. Even then, the plant waits for the fifth touch from the insect before digesting (消化) it.
The Venus flytrap does not need to eat insects very often. In fact, it can live for weeks without food as long as it gets enough sunlight. On average, it catches two to three insects every month. These meals help the plant to grow, much like a bear living off a few large fish.
▲ A survey by the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program in 2019 found 163,951 Venus flytraps in North Carolina and 4,876 in South Carolina. This marked a 93% drop compared with 4.5 million in 1979. By 2016, the plant could only be found in the wild in 71 places. However, only 20 of these could help the plant to grow.
The Venus flytrap shows us how creative nature can be. It’s not just a plant—it’s a smart hunter too!
1.What does Paragraph 2 mainly want to show?
A.How the hunting system works. B.Why the Venus flytrap eats insects.
C.What the Venus flytrap looks like. D.What the Venus flytrap needs to grow well.
2.Which of the following can be put into “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4?
A.Where can people find the plant?
B.Sadly, this amazing plant is in danger.
C.Scientists are interested in this amazing plant.
D.How many Venus flytraps are there in the world?
3.What question can the text answer?
A.How can people protect the Venus flytrap?
B.Where did people first see the Venus flytrap?
C.Is it possible to grow a Venus flytrap at home?
D.What else can help the Venus flytrap grow besides insects?
4.What’s the best title of the text?
A.The good points of a plant. B.Ways to protect the Venus flytrap.

1.根据第二段“When an insect touches one of the hairs...if the insect touches a second hair within 20 seconds, the leaf closes quickly…waits for the fifth touch…before digesting it.”
2.根据第四段“…found 163, 951 Venus flytraps in North Carolina and 4, 876 in South Carolina. This marked a 93% drop compared with 4.5 million in 1979.”
3.根据第三段“The Venus flytrap does not need to eat insects very often. In fact, it can live for weeks without food as long as it gets enough sunlight.”

Dear Tom,
I'm the child of your host family (寄宿家庭) in Canada.
Yours,
Peter

“I disagree,” said Cathy. “The shopping center would offer new jobs to people in need.”
