Dear Jack,
I remember the moment—it truly hit me that your autism(自闭症) lasted forever. I had already mental-
ly planned our trips up north with the boys. I was going to spend endless hours playing baseball with you—
like Grandpa did with me.
When we said goodbye to kindergarten I knew it was real. I spent some time being sad. Now you are 8.
You still have no words. We have never had one of those father-son moments I pictured when you were a
baby. But I'm learning that that's OK. I still have unbelievable things to offer as your dad, even if they aren
't the things I originally expected.
You have taught me to be patient. You have taught me that it's OK to be different and to be sad when
life doesn't go as planned. You have taught me that it is OK to talk about those feelings and fight for what is
right. Stand up and say this is wrong, and encourage others to stand up for you and say the same.
My job on this earth is to create a world for you and other kids like you. Be the voice you don't have,
and build the kind of community which I want to see you grow up in. I used to shy away from contacting
people with disabilities or just not consider them. Before you were born, I was so caught up in my own
world that I probably wouldn't have even noticed. Now, I see things differently. I notice. You did that for
me. And hope my example will do that for others.
Your mom and I have spent 8 years trying to find your voice. And honestly, we don't know if we ever
will. I promise you I will spend my life keeping you safe and making this world better for you.

A.He has changed his attitude to the disabled.
B.He is at a loss what to do to help Jack.
C.He is to blame for Jack's present condition.
D.He hasn't accepted the reality up to now.
根据倒数第二段中的“I used to shy away from contacting people with disabilities
or just not consider them.”和“I was so caught up in my own world that I probably...Now, I see
things dif-ferently. I notice.”
故选A。
22.How does the author sound in the text?
A.Ashamed. B.Caring. C.Regretful. D.Indifferent.

亲子关系,可能会出现在杂志的Relationship(关系)专栏。

When my dad visited me in London recently, I took him for a classic English afternoon tea at the Ritz
Hotel. The thought of showing him a piece of authentic British life excited me for weeks, so when we finally
sat down in the Ritz's elegant tearoom, with the sound of a pianist's playing in the background, I was
thrilled.
I looked at the silver tea stand topped with tasty sandwiches, freshly baked scones(烤饼), and mouth-
watering teacakes. I was ready to dig in. Then I looked at Dad and a trace of nervousness flashed across his
face. He carefully copied what I ate and how to use the knife and fork.
When we got to the scones, Dad took a big bite and commented on how delicious it was. He asked me
to explain how the British eat scones, so I told him in detail about the custom of breaking scones into small

pieces and spreading cream and strawberry jam on top, before eating each piece in one mouthful.
“Oh, why didn't you tell me earlier?” Dad's face turned red with embarrassment, suddenly realizing
his mistake. For the rest of the scones session, he busied himself with neatly spreading the cream and jam
like an obedient(听话的) child.
Suddenly, I felt a complex mixture of happiness, sadness and loneliness. Growing up, Dad was my hero
and my mountain. I still remember flying into his arms after school at the kindergarten gate. Through the
sound of his voice, I learned to feel and understand the world.
After moving to London alone, I have learned to achieve academic grades, found a job, and started a
new life all by myself. But I did not fully realize how much I had grown up, until I saw how dependent Dad
was on me in London. Although he is still a mountain in my heart, I realize I have in the meantime built a
strong mountain of my own. And by being away from Dad's protective wings I have come to understand
more of myself and to find my own place in the world.

C
The group member misses the deadline. The classmate talks loudly during your exam study. The parent
focuses only on the low grade. Situations such as these often get our hearts racing and make us angry. Anger
isn't a pleasant feeling. Some of us bottle up the emotion, while others shout out in anger. Both habits
influence our bodies, our minds, and our relationships negatively.
Anger may feel uncomfortable, but it's also normal and healthy. “A lot of people think they have to
free themselves from their anger,” says Patrick Keelan, a mental health expert. “But anger is an emotion
built into us to signal (发信号) that something needs to be dealt with.” When we take notice of that signal
and actually deal with the problem instead of ignoring it, we're usually much better.
One method of dealing with anger is to talk about it. Brain imaging at the University of California, Los
Angeles has shown that if you name your feelings, you can actually calm the activity in the amygdala (杏仁
核), the part of the brain that causes the let-out of hormones (激素) that lead to anger.
It helps to have a cool-down period before trying to explain to someone that you're angry about how he
or she rocked the boat. Do some controlled breathing or find some physical activities to reduce the anger.
That will allow the effects of the hormones to disappear, which in turn allows you to think about what's
troubling you.
When you're ready to talk to the other person, focus on the behavior and why it concerns you, not the
person's character. Don't make general complaints, such as “You always do this”. Bring up your reason-
able points to the other person in a way that you are most likely to get a constructive (有助益的) response.
If you're on the receiving end, remember that it's good to admit and try to understand the other person
's anger. Try offering to make a change if you are really wrong. If you're willing to work through heated

situations, the other person will be much more likely to mention this matter peacefully in the future. In the
end, you'll both be healthier.
28.What does the underlined phrase “bottle up” in paragraph 1 mean?
A.Hide. B.Express. C.Improve. D.Recognize.
根据第一段中的“Some of us bottle up the emotion, while others shout out in
anger.”可知,此处提到两种不同的处理愤怒的方式,bottle up the emotion与shout out in anger(愤怒地
故选A。
29.Which of the following statements might Patrick Keelan agree with?
A.Anger is a negative but common feeling.
B.Anger is a natural feeling but should be avoided.
C.Anger is an inner emotion that we seldom notice.
D.Anger is a signal that things go wrong with your mood.
根据第二段中Patrick Keelan的话“A lot of people think they have to free them-
selves from their anger” “But anger is an emotion built into us to signal that something needs to be
dealt with.”
30.What is the author's advice on dealing with anger?
A.Focusing on changing the other person's character.
B.Expressing your anger immediately to prevent the build-up.
C.Naming your feelings to calm down before discussing the conflict.
D.Using sentences like “You always...” to stress your point.
根据第三段中的“if you name your feelings, you can actually calm the activity in
the amygdala, the part of the brain that causes the let-out of hormones that lead to anger”以及第四段
中的“It helps to have a cool-down period before trying to explain to someone that you're angry about
how he or she rocked the boat.”
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Why is anger a healthy feeling?
B.Why do people often get angry?
C.How can you stop an angry person?
D.How can we deal with anger in the right way?

Identifying common bird species through their sounds has never been easier, with the phone apps and
software available to both ecologists and the public. But what if the identification software has never heard a
particular bird before, or only has a small sample of recordings to reference? This is a problem faced by e-
cologists and conservationists monitoring some of the world's rare birds.
To overcome this problem, researchers at the University of Moncton, Canada, have developed ECO-
GEN, a deep learning AI tool that can generate lifelike bird sounds to enhance the samples of rare species.
These can then be used to train audio identification tools used for ecological monitoring, which often have
more information on common species.
The researchers found that adding artificial bird sound samples generated by ECOGEN to a birdsong i-
dentifier improved the birdsong classification accuracy by 12% on average.
Dr. Nicolas Lecomte, one of the lead researchers, said, “Due to significant global changes in the ani-
mal population, there is an urgent need for automatic tools, such as acoustic monitoring (声学监测), to track
shifts in biodiversity. However, the AI models used to identify species in acoustic monitoring lack compre-
hensive reference libraries. With ECOGEN, you can address this gap by creating new instances of bird
sounds to support AI models. Essentially, for species with limited wild recordings, such as those that are
rare, difficult to find, or sensitive, you can expand your sound library without further disrupting the animals

or conducting additional fieldwork.”
The researchers say that creating artificial bird sounds in this way can contribute to the conservation of
endangered bird species, and also provide valuable insight into their vocalizations, behaviors and habitat
preferences.
The ECOGEN AI tool has other potential applications. For example, it could be used to help conserve
extremely rare species, like the critically endangered regent honeyeaters, young individuals of which are un-
able to learn their species' sounds because there aren't enough adult birds to learn from.

故填a。
此处是with的复合结构,all of her classmates与live之间为主动关系,需用动词-ing
作主语,先行词为well(水井)。故填which或that。
be used as... 故填as。
故填to meet。
故填was built。

Dear Jim,
I'm sorry to hear you are upset about the argument between you and your parents. To be honest, this time it
is your fault for being so addicted to mobile games.
Attractive as mobile games are, they do take up too much of your time, which does harm to your health
and study. Thus, it is advisable to focus more on study and reduce the time spent on the mobile phone. Be-
sides, having an honest conversation calmly can help you to improve the relationship between you and your
parents.
I sincerely hope that you can go through it and enjoy your high school life.
Yours,
Li Hua

When Lisa was a little girl, she learned an important lesson from her father. Her father told her that
when facing a problem, she should never give up and try another solution. In the following years, Lisa al-
ways remembered her father's words.
When Lisa was little, she dreamed of becoming a fashion designer. It was always her dream. But it was
not an easy road. After leaving college, Lisa went to Paris with her designs in order to make her dream come
true. In Paris, she tried to talk to famous designers and show them some of her designs, but none of them
showed any interest.
Though Lisa was discouraged, she didn't give up. One day, at a friend's party, she was introduced to a
young lady who was dressed in a beautiful knitted(针织的) sweater. It wasn't a fancy color, but it did have

very special stitches(针法). Lisa asked that lady if she knitted it herself. She said it was a work of a lady in
Paris.
Lisa really loved the special stitches and wanted to include them in her designs. And then Lisa had an
even braver idea. “Why not own a fashion store of my own? That way, I can design, make and sell my own
clothes,” she thought. So she decided to begin with that kind of sweater.
Lisa's friend introduced her to Madam Dean who knitted that sweater. The lady was from Armenia and
she learned to knit that kind of sweater from people in her country.
Lisa drew a picture of a sweater and asked if Madam Dean could knit the sweater for her. Madam Dean
agreed. One week later, Lisa got the sweater. The following day after Lisa received it, she wore it to a party
in the fashion industry.
Lisa was very nervous but she was lucky. Not long after the party began, her sweater drew the attention

解析
One possible version:
The next day, Lisa told the good news to Madam Dean. Madam Dean almost shouted when she heard about
that. “What? 40 such sweaters within just two weeks? That's impossible! Do you know how long it took
me to make the sweater for you? It took me one week,” Madam Dean cried. Lisa was very sad to hear that.
But she didn't want to lose such a great opportunity. It was really important to her.
Lisa then remembered her father's words. She decided to find another solution. She thought that Madam
Dean might not be the only one in Paris who knew how to knit that kind of sweater. She asked Madam Dean
if she knew anyone else who could help her. Madam Dean then started to make some phone calls. Finally,
she found 20 women who agreed to help her. At last, all the sweaters were finished within two weeks. The
sweaters were all delivered to New York on time. Lisa was closer to her dream.

Scotland is a place with unique languages, sports and landscapes. The most interesting thing about this place is that there are hundreds of tiny islands off the mainland to explore, but the most popular places to visit are not the hills or island, they are the beautiful old castles. The Harry potter series was based on scotland city streets and buildings, and if you come to visit, you can see how similar they are to those in the books and movies. I moved here when I was twenty years old and started my own company within the first five years. My company now provides special tools for visitors. Instead of driving visitors around or taking a bus, I get tourists on bicycles to ride through the region.
