Test A阅读理解
Inspired by an event held by the Dallas-
based Daddy Stroller(婴儿车)Social Club
(DSSC),a group for fathers,Brandon Shaw
wrote an 83-page typed letter to his father. From
the BLACKLIT bookstore,Tro Juan Henderson
led 15 dads,including his own father,who was
seated next to Shaw,in an emotional event
where the men dug into what they hated, loved,
misunderstood and appreciated about their fathers
as they grew up.
Founded by Kalvin Bridgewater in 2021,
DSSC initially met with about 30 dads per event
but skyrocketed in popularity after two online
videos became hits in April 2024.It now attracts
over 150 dads at events, where fathers bond over
shared experiences and provide emotional
backing for one another.
DSSC's appeal is broad,attracting dads
from various professions,including doctors,engineers,
and electricians.The group emphasizes emotional
support,with members regularly checking in
with one another. As Shaw shared, the group
provides a space where men can be open, asking,
"How are you feeling?"Shaw, who joined the group
when he first became a father, said it has made him
more patient and understanding.
Bridgewater,who became a certified doula
(产妇陪护)to better support his wife through
pregnancy(孕期),also ensures DSSC allows
partners some time for themselves. At a May
event, mothers had the day off while fathers
spent time bonding with their children.
Brandon Shaw described the experience as
transformative,saying it helped him connect
with his own weaknesses, something he had
previously kept hidden. He sent the letter he
wrote to his father. It arrived soon.He said he

Test B七选五
As writers,we tend to be hard on
ourselves. It's easy to overlook small but
significant steps toward your goals if you're
focused on comparing yourself to others.Instead,
what if you change your mindset to take into
account the progress that is happening every
day?1 It is not just about word count or a
finished manuscript(手稿).Here are some
mindset shifts and actionable ideas.
Redefine productive writing time.Writing
involves more than time spent with a keyboard

or a pen.Stepping away from your work can
actually improve the quality of your writing.
2_Instead,treat that“off”time as just as
valuable as sitting at your desk writing. You
need to recharge to be creative and productive.
3 In order to set realistic goals,it's
essential to know how long things actually take
you to accomplish. That's why timing your
writing sessions is important.Once you understand
your personal output rate of words per hour, you
can use timing data to set achievable goals and
avoid unrealistic expectations.
Rework your work space.Where you write
has a big impact on how you feel about your
work.4 If that's not an option,you can
rearrange your current work area.Clear the
mess,move your desk,get a new lamp-play
around and see what feels right.A little novelty
can break you out of a dull routine and change
your mindset.
Chart your progress.5 For example,if
you have a word count goal each day, make a
calendar and give yourself a big check each time
you meet it.Seeing all those checks can help
remind you that you have a lot to be proud of!
A.Breaks shouldn't cause guilt.
B.Assess your time management.
C.List realistic and actionable goals.
D.Sometimes a change of scenery can help.
E.It's important to acknowledge all aspects of
the writing process.
F.Keeping visual track of your progress
can remind you of how far you've come.
G.Tapping into your own personal productivity
style will make all the difference.

One week later,I got an email from Dad.He had
good news for me that his talk with the owner of Love
Dad went very smoothly. As the restaurant owner, who
they called Mr.Penn,is getting old and finding it too
much for him to handle all the chores,he gladly
accepted my parents as partners to run the restaurant
on one condition:they had to keep it secret whose
parents they are, which they readily accepted and
planned to start work two months later.
One day,I was sitting in Love Dad again. While
waiting to be served,I glanced over the customers,
thinking maybe one of them was Mr.Penn's son or
daughter. Then I took out my phone to scroll through
the daily news. When my dishes were served,I looked
up from my phone and saw Mom standing beside me,
smiling.I managed not to show my excitement and
smiled back. The meal that day tasted especially nice.
When checking out,I took a card on which a family
scene was drawn. The sentence beside the picture read,
"Even when we grow up,we are still our parents'
kids.”
