But objectively speaking, you may underestimate the power habits have in your life. A new study finds most daily actions are done on autopilot. Habitual behaviour is made up of the things that we do without thinking, prompted(引起) by our envi- ronment and learned through repeated action. Meeting a familiar situation can cause a learned association, which in turn prompts a non-conscious(无意识的) desire to act. The sound of your alarm clock, for exam- ple, may be enough to prompt you to reach for your phone, without consciously deciding to. How much of our day-to-day lives are shaped by habit? To answer the question, we recruited(招募) 10 5 people, aged 18-73, and sent messages to their phones six times a day over one week. Each message asked four questions: what were they doing when we interrupted them? To what extent was that action begun without conscious thought? To what extent was it performed automatically? And how much had they wanted to do it? The most commonly reported behaviour types were working, studying, or using a screen-based de- vice. More importantly, 65% of all actions were done out of habit. However, this does not mean that we simply act mindlessly, without awareness or free will. Around one in three actions in our study were intentional but not habitual. People had consciously chosen to do them, probably because the action or setting was unfamiliar, or because their habits were not strong enough to gen- erate influence. Crucially, 76% of all actions were things people intended to do. Habits develop when we re- peatedly do things in certain settings. Several studies suggest that, with once-daily repetition, it takes around 第1讲 描述运动的基本概念 two months to form a habit. The time required for habit formation ranges considerably, though. One 2021 study found habit formation to take anywhere from 4 to 335 days. Therefore, habits aren't free will's enemy—they ease life. Problems arise when habits conflict with goals. When such conflicts occur, understanding how to change those habits becomes crucial. 1.What's the purpose of paragraph 1? A.To show the use of phones. B.To list people's daily habits. C.To compare different habits. D.To introduce the habitual behaviour. 2.How are habits primarily developed? A.Through strong non-conscious desires. B.Through repeated actions in stable contexts. C.Through conscious choices in new situations. D.Through exposure to unfamiliar environments. 3.Why did the researchers send messages to participants' phones? A.To monitor their screen time habits. B.To track their daily routine patterns. C.To remind them to form new habits. D.To collect data on their behaviours. 4.What will the text talk about next? A.Ways to break those habits. B.Data about intentional actions. C.Approaches to designing a new study. D.Reasons why people hate changing habits. 塑造 2.will熟义:modal v. 第一段在列出“醒来就习惯性地去拿手机、在站台固定站位”两个日常例子 后,用表示转折的“But”引出核心观点“you may underestimate the power habits have in your life(你可 能低估了习惯在你生活中的影响力)”,最后以“A new study finds most daily actions are done on autopi- lot.(一项新研究发现,大多数日常行为都是下意识自动完成的。)” 由第四段第五句“Habits develop when we repeatedly do things in certain set- tings.(当我们在特定的环境中反复做某事时,习惯就会形成。)”可知,B项“Through repeated actions in stable contexts.(通过在稳定环境中反复践行。)”符合题意,其中“repeated actions”对应“repeatedly do things”,“stable contexts”对应“certain settings”。 通读第三段可知,该段主要介绍了研究的对象(105 people, aged 18-73)、过程 和方法(sent messages to their phones six times a day over one week. Each message asked four questions...) (The most commonly reported behaviour types...habit.)。 故选A。 七选五   [2025海南华中师范大学琼中附属中学月考] Years of observing people at college and at work have led us to discover some specific reasons why many people are unable to learn quickly and efficiently. 1 : Struggle to Start Learning Something from Scratch As you've probably experienced yourself, sometimes when wanting to learn something new, 2 . For example, you might have wanted to learn how to play chess, but didn't know the best way to start this. So you tried learning from well-rounded sources at the same time: books, videos, friends and family members. The problem with this uncritical approach is that you will find it hard to focus and you'll un- 第1讲 描述运动的基本概念 avoidably be demonstrated conflicting advice—which is unhelpful when you're starting out. 3 Think back for a moment to when you were at school. I'm sure there were endless times when you were taught things by teachers only for you to forget the information within weeks, days or even minutes! And of course, 4 . How many times have you been in meetings where important things have been said only for half the attendees to forget the details soon after the meeting concluded? Struggle to Put What You've Learned into Practice 5 . They spend all their time learning theory, but never put anything into practice. For example, consider for a moment how people learn to ride a bicycle. In most cases, a parent or elder sibling would tell you the steps you need to take to successfully get on and begin riding a bike. However, it's only when you at- tempt to ride a bike for the first time that the real learning begins! A.Struggle to Continue Your Learning B.Struggle to Recall What You've Learned C.you find yourself not knowing where to start D.Here are some tips for you to overcome learning blockers E.this problem continues from education into the workplace F.See if you can spot yourself in any or all of these learning blockers G.This is one of the most common reasons for people failing to learn new things 1.______ 2.______ 3.______ 4.______ 5.______ G      E      B      C      F The problem with this uncritical approach is that you will find it hard to focus and you'll unavoidably be demonstrated conflicting advice—which is unhelpful when you're starting out. 根据该段的小标题“Struggle to Start Learning Something from Scratch”和下文“For example, you might have wanted to learn how to play chess, but didn't know the best way to start this.(例如,你可能想学 习如何下棋,但不知道开始的最好方式。)” 由下文“Think back for a moment...” 4.由上文中的“when you were taught things by teachers”可知空前介绍在学校的情况;由下文中的 “you been in meetings”和“after the meeting”可知,空后介绍在工作过程中遇到的情况。 本段的小标题是“Struggle to Put What You've Learned into Practice”,结合选项可知,G项(这是人们无 法学习新事物的最常见的原因之一)符合语境。 完形填空   [2025安徽安庆期中] Riding a bus to and from school every day is not that inspiring.
