(本题10分)It was the final race of the season, the 800 meters, and my legs felt like lead (铅). The hot sun beat down on the track, and the roar of the crowd seemed distant. I had trained hard all summer, but now, facing my toughest competitor, Sarah Chen, doubt crept in. She always seemed to have an extra burst of speed at the end.
The starting gun fired. We surged forward. The first lap felt surprisingly smooth, but as we turned into the second lap, the familiar burn started in my lungs. Sarah pulled slightly ahead. “Just keep her in sight,” I told myself, remembering Coach’s words: “Run your own race.”
With 200 meters to go, the gap between Sarah and me widened. My legs screamed to slow down, and negative thoughts flooded my mind: “You can’t catch her. Second place is okay.” I glanced at the stands and saw my teammates waving wildly, their faces full of encouragement. Then, Coach’s voice cut through the noise: “Kick NOW, Mia! Everything you’ve got!”
Something clicked. It wasn’t just about winning against Sarah anymore; it was about pushing myself to my absolute limit, about honoring all those hours of practice. I dug deep, deeper than I ever had before. My arms swung faster, my stride (步幅) lengthened, and I focused solely on the finish line. The pain was intense, but it was pushed aside by sheer determination.
The last few meters were a blur. I threw myself forward. As I crossed the line, breathless and shaky, I had no idea who had won. Then I heard the announcement: “First place... Mia Johnson!” A wave of disbelief and pure joy washed over me. Sarah finished a split-second later, offering a tired but genuine smile and a handshake. “Great kick,” she said, breathing heavily. That moment of mutual respect meant almost as much as the medal.
That race showed me more than just how to run faster. It reminded me that your biggest competitor is often yourself — the voice that says you can’t. And that finding the strength to silence that voice, even for just the final stretch, can lead to achievements you never thought possible.

C.It highlights Mia’s physical superiority (优势). D.It indicates Sarah’s pity for Mia’s effort.
What does Mia realize is the most important thing she learned from the race?

(本题10分)The Night of the Radishes (萝卜) is a centuries-old event held on December 23 every year in Oaxaca, Mexico, where people carve oversized radishes into scenes for a competition. The radishes grown for the competition are different from the small, thin, red and white ones that are commonly on the tables of most restaurants in Mexico. Most often, they’re not very tasty. Instead, they’re used as artists’ canvas and hand-carved into different festive scenes.
There are two primary radish-carving types in the modern-day Night of the Radishes competition — traditional or free. The traditional one requires the radish works to reflect the Oaxacan culture and festivals. The free type allows entrants to carve anything they want.
The tradition of carving radishes dates back to the late 19th century, when Oaxaca’s farmers would attract buyers’ attention in the Zócalo, the city’s main square, by creatively showing their seasonal produce. Oaxaca’s long-standing wood carving tradition also plays a part. At some point, local wood carvers showed interest in the big radishes on display and decided to carve them into eye-catching scenes in the hope of making an extra sale. In 1897, Oaxaca’s Municipal President, Francisco Vasconcelos, decided to make the radish-carved scene tradition official and created a competition to be held on Dec.23.
Today, the radish festival’s cultural roots remain the same. Early on the morning of December 23, Oaxaca’s main square is changed into an exhibition (展览) space. Competitors begin to work on their radishes at first light. Their works will formally be judged by mid-afternoon. More than 120,000 Mexican pesos(around $ 6,000)are on the line for the best designs, which are decided by a respected judging team made up of officials, previous winners and artists, who will award the prizes at 18:00.
As night draws in, competitors can carry their masterpieces back home. These radishes will be shown on mantelpieces (壁炉架) or outside homes for a few more hours before the white radish flesh begins to turn brown and soften. In 24 hours, they’ll be only good for compost (肥料), from which new radishes can grow the next year.

A.Big and tasteless. B.Red-white and delicious.

(本题10分)Nearly everyone in the world has heard of the Olympic Games, and many people are familiar with the Paralympic Games, but very few know about the equally important Transplant Games. Held every year, these games celebrate the courage of transplant recipients (接受者) and the selflessness of donors’ families.
According to a news release from the Sheffield City Council, the games — which the city will host in the summer of 2026 — are the main event for the Transplant Active charity, which aims to raise awareness of organ (器官) donation and inspire recipients to stay healthy and active.
A blog on Westfield Health’s website explains that over 7,000 people in Britain are waiting for organ transplants now. On average, about three people die every day while waiting, but one donor can save more than nine lives.
The lack of donors still exists even though Britain introduced an “opt-out” organ donation law (默认捐献制) in 2020 — everyone is a potential donor unless they say otherwise. However, it is their families that decide whether to donate their loved ones’ organs, and many people never talk with their families about their wishes.
That’s why the Transplant Games are so important. They draw attention to organ donation and show that recipients can live happy, full lives. Anyone healthy who attends at least one team training camp can join.
During the 2025 Games in Oxford, a five-year-old liver (肝) recipient took part in the obstacle race, the 25-meter sprint, and the ball throw. Another participant, who received a kidney at age 13 and is now 36, trains for the Games every year.
Then there is Jenny Glithero, who had an emergency liver transplant. Six months after learning to breathe again, she was back on a bike, training for the Games. She told Positive News, “Why do I do this? Because I’ve been given the gift of life. It is a way to honor my donor. Some people go to church. I get on the bike.”
What is the main purpose of the Transplant Games?
A.To honor outstanding athletes. B.To attract tourists to Sheffield.
C.To compete with the Olympics. D.To encourage organ donation.
What can we learn about organ donation in Britain?
A.Its law works perfectly. B.Donors’ choices are final.
C.Few patients need transplants. D.Demand is greater than supply.
What can be inferred from the examples in paragraphs 6 and 7?
A.Recipients rebuild life actively. B.Organ failure affects all age groups.
C.Athletes must be young and energetic. D.Sports games require professional skills.
What is the main focus of the text?
A.The importance of Transplant Games. B.The popularity of international games.
C.The development of British sports laws. D.The new method to solve organ shortage.
(本题12.5分)I have never been good at badminton. But since moving to Australia with my non-Malaysian husband, I’ve developed an interest in the sport. In Australia, there is little representation of my culture. 36(2.5分) From being asked if I’m good at kung fu to being mistaken for a cleaner, these experiences are hard to shake off.
However, as I watch my fellow Malaysian badminton players on the global stage, a feeling of safety and familiarity washes over me. 37(2.5分) In a heart-racing 2024 Olympics Bronze medal match — against Denmark on August 4th, Malaysia’s men’s doubles pair managed to save themselves from the edge of defeat to win Malaysia’s first medal at the games.
I clearly remember the moment when Malaysia was 16-20 against the Danes — one point away from losing the entire game. 38(2.5分) The two Malaysians did not assume defeat and pressed on. The Danes did not get their winning point. Instead, we kept gaining one point after another.
When the Malaysians scored an equalizer that put them 20-20, I let out a roar. That roar was echoed thousands of miles away as Malaysians everywhere cheered their hearts out. Finally, when Malaysia scored the winning point, I experienced a collective near heart attack. Hope was rushing out of me, and along with it, a feeling I had not felt in ages.
40(2.5分) Perhaps it’s a reminder that it is beautiful that I have more than one identity. It is beautiful that a sport I am bad at can become a symbol of the home I left behind. And it’s beautiful that while the 2024 Olympics brought the world together for a few glorious weeks, it brought me-for a moment in time -back home.
A.But then the impossible happened.
B.Watching the match made me miss living in Malaysia.
C.I still don’t fully understand what that moment did to me.
D.I’ve faced countless moments of discomfort and discrimination.
E.I felt a sense of togetherness with my fellow Malaysians far away.
F.The determination of the players inspired me to fight discrimination bravely.
G.These faces on my screen look like everyday folks I could run into back home.

Leo had always loved running and was once the fastest kid on the middle school track team. Unluckily, a car accident in senior one injured his right leg. After treatment, the doctor told him he would spend his rest life in a wheelchair, never able to run. When returning home, Leo stared at his dusty running shoes, lost in thought.
It suddenly occurred to him that he could join wheelchair races. Later on, he told the idea to his parents and they expressed their full support. Leo’s father drove him to a training centre. “Show me what you’ve got,” a coach there said. Without a word, Leo grasped the push rims (推轮) and drove forward. The coach watched him circle the track once, twice… When Leo stopped, breathing hard but looking steady, the coach nodded, “Be here at 6 tomorrow morning.”
With professional training, his overall ability rose. By senior three, Leo had won several races. But the Boston Marathon was what he had been longing for. When he handed in his application and expressed his dream, race officials encouraged him: “Go for it. If you finish in under three hours without any assistance, you’ll qualify for the certificate (证书).”
On race day, according to race rules, wheelchair racers started thirty minutes earlier. Full of confidence, Leo kicked off the race. Around mile 23, a professional runner named Bill began to close the gap. Then, he ran alongside Leo, matching his pace, and nodded. For the next two miles, they stayed together. Gradually, Leo’s arms gave out. His pace slowed. Bill pulled ahead. But Leo did not stop.
With less than a mile to go, his body was shutting down. Every push sent fire through his arms. The clock read 2:52 — he had eight minutes left to cover the final mile. It seemed impossible.

W: Then what made you run again?
M: Two years ago I made friends with a man. He believed that people should let nothing hold them back from achieving their goals. I was encouraged by his words and decided to run in the LA Marathon.
W: People must have thought you were crazy.
M: Yes. Even my parents didn’t think I would make it. But I wanted to give it a shot. I started self-training. I started jogging. To my surprise, my feet didn’t ache. Slowly, I increased the distance.
W: You proved that your doctors were wrong.
M: Yes. I knew that if I didn’t train to my fullest, the doctors would win. So I trained seven days a week. And I succeeded in crossing the finish line of the LA Marathon.
W: Thank you for telling me your story. You are really a great man.

How did Mia feel at the beginning of the race?
A.Confident and energetic. B.Focused only on beating Sarah.
C.Excited by the crowd’s noise. D.Doubtful and physically heavy.
When the coach shouts “Kick NOW, Mia”, the word “kick” most probably means ________.
A.to ignore pain and continue moving. B.to hit the ground with one’s foot.
C.to suddenly increase running speed. D.to focus on proper running form.
What is the symbolic meaning of Sarah offering Mia a handshake after the race?
A.It reflects the universal sportsmanship spirit. B.It helps to cover Sarah’s disappointment.
C.It highlights Mia’s physical superiority (优势). D.It indicates Sarah’s pity for Mia’s effort.
What does Mia realize is the most important thing she learned from the race?
A.Winning against a strong competitor is the ultimate goal.
B.Following Coach’s instructions is essential for success.
C.Her biggest challenge is overcoming her own self-doubt.
D.Physical pain is temporary, but medals last forever.
【答案】24.D 25.C 26.A 27.C
根据第一段“It was the final race of the season, the 800 meters, and my legs felt like lead (铅). The hot sun beat down on the track, and the roar of the crowd seemed distant. I had trained hard all summer, but now, facing my toughest competitor, Sarah Chen, doubt crept in.(这是本赛季的最后一场比赛,是800米赛跑,我的双腿沉重得像铅块一样。炽热的阳光直射在跑道上,观众的欢呼声听起来很遥远。整个夏天我都在刻苦训练,但现在面对我最强劲的对手萨拉·陈,心中的疑虑悄然涌起)”可知,米娅在比赛开始时感到怀疑且身体沉重。
25.词句猜测题。根据第一段“She always seemed to have an extra burst of speed at the end.(她似乎总能在最后时刻爆发出额外的速度)”以及第三段“With 200 meters to go, the gap between Sarah and me widened.
根据倒数第二段“Sarah finished a split-second later, offering a tired but genuine smile and a handshake. “Great kick,” she said, breathing heavily. That moment of mutual respect meant almost as much as the medal.(萨拉只晚了不到一秒就完赛,她露出疲惫但真诚的微笑,并与我握手。“很棒的冲刺!”她气喘吁吁地说。那一刻的相互尊重几乎和奖牌一样重要)”可知,在比赛结束后,萨拉与米娅握手这一举动体现了普遍的体育精神。
27.细节理解题。根据最后一段“That race showed me more than just how to run faster. It reminded me that your biggest competitor is often yourself — the voice that says you can’t. And that finding the strength to silence that voice, even for just the final stretch, can lead to achievements you never thought possible.(那场比赛不仅教会了我如何跑得更快,还让我明白,最大的竞争对手往往是自己——那个认为自己做不到的声音。而且,找到力量去压制住这个声音,哪怕只是在最后的冲刺阶段,也能带来你从未想过能够实现的成就)”可知,米娅意识到从这次比赛中她学到的最重要的事情是她面临的最大挑战是克服自己的自我怀疑。
How would you describe competition radishes?
A.Big and tasteless. B.Red-white and delicious.
C.Round and sweet. D.Sharp and strange in shapes.
What played a role in starting the radish-carving tradition?

C.They are eaten by the owners and visitors.
D.They are used to help the next radishes grow.
What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.A Unique Mexican Cultural Festival B.How to Make Beautiful Radish Arts

(The Night of the Radishes)
根据第一段“The radishes grown for the competition are different from the small, thin, red and white ones that are commonly on the tables of most restaurants in Mexico. Most often, they’re not very tasty. (用于比赛的萝卜不同于墨西哥大多数餐厅餐桌上常见的那种又小又细、红白相间的萝卜。它们通常不太好吃。)”可知,比赛用的萝卜个头大但味道寡淡。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段“Oaxaca’s long-standing wood carving tradition also plays a part. (Oaxaca悠久的木雕传统也起到了一定作用。某个时候,当地的木雕匠人对展台上的大萝卜产生了兴趣,决定把它们雕刻成引人注目的场景,希望能多卖一些。1897年,Oaxaca的市长Francisco Vasconcelos决定将萝卜雕刻场景的传统正式化,并创建了一个在12月23日举行的比赛。)”可知,当地悠久的木雕历史促成了萝卜雕刻这一传统的兴起。
30.细节理解题。根据最后一段“In 24 hours, they’ll be only good for compost (肥料), from which new radishes can grow the next year. (24小时后,它们就只能用作堆肥了,而新的萝卜可以在次年从这些堆肥中生长出来。)”可知,节日过后,被雕刻的萝卜会被用来培育新萝卜。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“The Night of the Radishes (萝卜) is a centuries-old event held on December 23 every year in Oaxaca, Mexico, where people carve oversized radishes into scenes for a competition. (“萝卜之夜”是一项有着数百年历史的活动,每年12月23日在墨西哥瓦哈卡市举行,人们将超大的萝卜雕刻成各种场景进行比赛。)”可知,本文主要介绍的是墨西哥瓦哈卡市(Oaxaca)一个有着数百年历史的独特文化节日——“萝卜之夜”(The Night of the Radishes),因此最恰当的标题是A选项“A Unique Mexican Cultural Festival (一个独特的墨西哥文化节)”。

根据第三段中的“A blog on Westfield Health’s website explains that over 7,000 people in Britain are waiting for organ transplants now. On average, about three people die every day while waiting, but one donor can save more than nine lives.(韦斯特菲尔德健康保险公司官网的一篇博文介绍:英国目前有七千余人等待器官移植。平均每天约有三人在等候期间离世,而一名器官捐献者能够挽救九条以上生命。)”可知,英国器官需求远大于捐献供给。
34.推理判断题。根据第六段中的“During the 2025 Games in Oxford, a five-year-old liver (肝) recipient took part in the obstacle race, the 25-meter sprint, and the ball throw.(2025年牛津赛事中,一名五岁肝移植患儿参与障碍赛、短跑和投球项目。)”以及第七段中的“Six months after learning to breathe again, she was back on a bike, training for the Games.(珍妮术后六个月就骑车备战赛事。)”

根据上文“I have never been good at badminton. But since moving to Australia with my non-Malaysian husband, I’ve developed an interest in the sport. In Australia, there is little representation of my culture.(我向来不擅长打羽毛球。
38.根据上文“I clearly remember the moment when Malaysia was 16-20 against the Danes — one point away from losing the entire game.(我清楚地记得当时马来西亚队与丹麦队的比分是16比20——距离输掉整场比赛只差一分)”以及后文“The two Malaysians did not assume defeat and pressed on. The Danes did not get their winning point. Instead, we kept gaining one point after another.(那两名马来西亚选手并未认输,而是继续努力。而丹麦队未能获得胜分。然而,我们却不断得分,一点一点地逐渐领先)”可知,前文说比赛比分16-20,马来西亚队差一分就要输,后文说选手没有认输,连续追分,A项“但接着,不可能的事情发生了”正好引出这场逆风翻盘的转折,符合逻辑。
39.根据上文“When the Malaysians scored an equalizer that put them 20-20, I let out a roar. That roar was echoed thousands of miles away as Malaysians everywhere cheered their hearts out. Finally, when Malaysia scored the winning point, I experienced a collective near heart attack. Hope was rushing out of me, and along with it, a feeling I had not felt in ages.(当马来西亚队扳平比分,将比分定格在 20 比 20 时,我发出了一声欢呼。
40.根据后文“Perhaps it’s a reminder that it is beautiful that I have more than one identity. It is beautiful that a sport I am bad at can become a symbol of the home I left behind. And it’s beautiful that while the 2024 Olympics brought the world together for a few glorious weeks, it brought me-for a moment in time -back home.(也许这正提醒着我,拥有多重身份是一件美好的事情。

注意:(1)续写词数应为 150 个左右;

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
All of a sudden, Leo saw Bill coming back. “Thought you might need a hand,” Bill smiled, falling into step beside him again. Leo shook his head firmly and said, “I have to finish this by myself.” Bill didn’t push, just slowed his run and called encouragement every time Leo pushed his chair forward. Spectators along the route rose to their feet, cheering so loud that it drowned out the ache in Leo’s arms. He gathered every bit of his strength, forcing shaking muscles to keep turning the wheels, one slow push after another.
Amazingly, Leo finished the race on his own at 2:59:51. As he crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted in cheers. The race officials handed him the qualifying certificate, their eyes shining with respect. Bill patted him on the shoulder, grinning, “I knew you deserved it.” Leo held the certificate tightly with happy tears rolling down. Though he could never run with his legs again, he proved that with persistence and courage, nothing can stop a person from chasing his dream.
