(本题10分)Alex de Minaur, an Australian professional tennis player, has impressed the tennis world with a beautiful act for his opponent (对手) after the Washington final. De Minaur saved three championship points to win the 10th ATP title of his career, defeating (战胜) Spanish player Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Fokina was heartbroken after losing three championship points in the third set — the last one came when de Minaur made an amazing effort to survive. The Spaniard has never won a title at the ATP level, and has now lost in two finals.
Fokina cried after the final point and hid his face in his towel (毛巾). De Minaur noticed his opponent’s low spirits and at once went to comfort him.
The Aussie was seen sitting next to Fokina before resting an arm around him and offering some words of encouragement. Tennis fans were blown away by de Minaur’s act, which came before he’d celebrated the victory (胜利).
De Minaur also offered some kind words for Fokina in his victory speech, saying: “You’re way too good not to have one of these victories. It’s coming for sure. You deserved (值得) it today. I just got lucky. You are a great competitor and player. This is not the end.”
Davidovich Fokina also praised de Minaur, saying the Australian “deserved the win”. “He was fighting for every ball,” he added.
The beautiful moment between the pair made the tennis world fall in love with de Minaur even more. One person wrote online: “Hard not to feel for Alejandro Davidovich Fokina today and hard not to admire how kind this was of Alex de Minaur.” Another commented: “I have a newfound respect for Alex de Minaur after he comforted Fokina. (本题10分)Nearly everyone in the world has heard of the Olympic Games, and many people are familiar with the Paralympic Games, but very few know about the equally important Transplant Games. Held every year, these games celebrate the courage of transplant recipients (接受者) and the selflessness of donors’ families.
According to a news release from the Sheffield City Council, the games — which the city will host in the summer of 2026 — are the main event for the Transplant Active charity, which aims to raise awareness of organ (器官) donation and inspire recipients to stay healthy and active.
A blog on Westfield Health’s website explains that over 7,000 people in Britain are waiting for organ transplants now. On average, about three people die every day while waiting, but one donor can save more than nine lives.
The lack of donors still exists even though Britain introduced an “opt-out” organ donation law (默认捐献制) in 2020 — everyone is a potential donor unless they say otherwise. However, it is their families that decide whether to donate their loved ones’ organs, and many people never talk with their families about their wishes.
That’s why the Transplant Games are so important. They draw attention to organ donation and show that recipients can live happy, full lives. Anyone healthy who attends at least one team training camp can join.
During the 2025 Games in Oxford, a five-year-old liver (肝) recipient took part in the obstacle race, the 25-meter sprint, and the ball throw. Another participant, who received a kidney at age 13 and is now 36, trains for the Games every year.
Then there is Jenny Glithero, who had an emergency liver transplant. Six months after learning to breathe again, she was back on a bike, training for the Games. She told Positive News, “Why do I do this? Because I’ve been given the gift of life. It is a way to honor my donor. Some people go to church. I get on the bike.”

A.To honor outstanding athletes. B.To attract tourists to Sheffield.
C.To compete with the Olympics. D.To encourage organ donation.
What can we learn about organ donation in Britain?
A.Its law works perfectly. B.Donors’ choices are final.
C.Few patients need transplants. D.Demand is greater than supply.
What can be inferred from the examples in paragraphs 6 and 7?
A.Recipients rebuild life actively. B.Organ failure affects all age groups.
C.Athletes must be young and energetic. D.Sports games require professional skills.
What is the main focus of the text?
A.The importance of Transplant Games. B.The popularity of international games.

(本题10分)You might not have noticed, but most modern hotels hide their stairways for safety, security or beauty. So people tend to be surprised when they see someone running up them. I know this because I’m a Stairs Guy now.
Still, I’m not alone. Stair running is a pastime on the rise, at least if you look at the amount of events on it. The first ever full-scale tower race, reportedly, took place at the Eiffel Tower in 1905, with about 300 runners climbing a mere two levels (729 steps) of the monument. More events followed, but it took a while before the sport spread to the UK in 1968, and the US in 1978. Today, hundreds of events across dozens of countries allow the light-limbed and big-bodied to race each other up some of the world’s most recognizable skyscrapers
“My first love is running, and I miss long-distance running races terribly, but my body can’t afford it any more after many years — so stair climbing works very well for me. There’s much less harm, but it’s still extremely challenging,” says Suzy Walsham, who competed in lots of marathons before making the move to stair running. “It’s also a very individual sport and probably two-thirds of the races are time trials — so you are racing against the building and the clock,” she explains. And, of course, it’s fast. The best runners can climb the 1,576 steps of the Empire State Building Run-Up in less than 10 minutes.
Marathon runners often struggle as stair races require lactic acid tolerance and a degree of anaerobic (无氧的) fitness (which works when you’re moving too fast to use oxygen for fuel) as well as the aerobic kind used for longer efforts. “I’ve been faster on the stairs than people who were 10 minutes faster than me over a half marathon,” says Walsham.
What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A.The benefits of stair running.
B.The matches of stair running.
C.The tallest buildings in the world.
D.The development of stair running.
Why did Walsham move to stair running?
A.Its cost is not high. B.It’s not very challenging.
C.It’s suitable for her body. D.Its popularity has grown.
Why is the Empire State Building Run-Up mentioned?
A.To stress the speed of stair running.
B.To praise those runners.
C.To introduce this match.
D.To show the difficulty of stair running.
What can be learned from the last paragraph?
A.Walsham needs more aerobic exercise.
B.Walsham usually runs fast in marathons.
C.Marathon runners often join stair races.
D.Marathon differs much from stair races.
(本题12.5分)I have never been good at badminton. But since moving to Australia with my non-Malaysian husband, I’ve developed an interest in the sport. In Australia, there is little representation of my culture. 36(2.5分) From being asked if I’m good at kung fu to being mistaken for a cleaner, these experiences are hard to shake off.
However, as I watch my fellow Malaysian badminton players on the global stage, a feeling of safety and familiarity washes over me. 37(2.5分) In a heart-racing 2024 Olympics Bronze medal match — against Denmark on August 4th, Malaysia’s men’s doubles pair managed to save themselves from the edge of defeat to win Malaysia’s first medal at the games.
I clearly remember the moment when Malaysia was 16-20 against the Danes — one point away from losing the entire game. 38(2.5分) The two Malaysians did not assume defeat and pressed on. The Danes did not get their winning point. Instead, we kept gaining one point after another.
When the Malaysians scored an equalizer that put them 20-20, I let out a roar. That roar was echoed thousands of miles away as Malaysians everywhere cheered their hearts out. Finally, when Malaysia scored the winning point, I experienced a collective near heart attack. Hope was rushing out of me, and along with it, a feeling I had not felt in ages.
40(2.5分) Perhaps it’s a reminder that it is beautiful that I have more than one identity. It is beautiful that a sport I am bad at can become a symbol of the home I left behind. And it’s beautiful that while the 2024 Olympics brought the world together for a few glorious weeks, it brought me-for a moment in time -back home.
A.But then the impossible happened.
B.Watching the match made me miss living in Malaysia.
C.I still don’t fully understand what that moment did to me.
D.I’ve faced countless moments of discomfort and discrimination.
E.I felt a sense of togetherness with my fellow Malaysians far away.
F.The determination of the players inspired me to fight discrimination bravely.
G.These faces on my screen look like everyday folks I could run into back home.

The Great Wall Marathon at Huangyaguan, China, is widely considered the world’s second 56(1.5分) (tough) marathon, just behind the Everest Marathon.
Originally 57(1.5分) (start) in 1999 by a Danish travel company to promote tourism, it has grown into 58(1.5分) amazing annual race. It now attracts around 1,300 runners from over 50 countries.
The route 59(1.5分) (include) a very difficult section with 5,164 ancient, uneven stone steps of varying heights. Runners must climb them in intense heat and high humidity. Unlike flat city marathons, 60(1.5分) usually take about 4 hours to complete, this race takes an average of 7.5 hours 61(1.5分) (finish). The hardest part comes at the 34-kilometer mark, where runners usually face huge physical 62(1.5分) mental challenges. At this point, they are directed back onto the high parts of the wall, breathing 63(1.5分) (heavy).
Due to these extreme conditions, medical and rescue teams are stationed along the route to treat injuries like falls and a severe lack 64(1.5分) water. Despite the 65(1.5分) (difficulty), very few participants quit. Instead, most choose to run sensibly to enjoy the unique cultural and historical experience.

An emergency room doctor named Shane Naidoo participated in the New Jersey Half Marathon on September 28th. Despite his professional commitments and job demands, Naidoo has always found time to lace up (系) his running shoes and hit the pavement. As an amateur athlete who had not been engaging in strict training in recent weeks, he had set relatively low expectations for himself. He had planned to simply enjoy the race and maintain a leisurely pace throughout. What he didn’t know was that this ordinary race would take an unexpected turn that would redefine its meaning for him.
Near the marathon’s halfway mark in Newport, Naidoo saw a mid-thirties female runner, Chrystal Rinehold, collapse suddenly just ahead of him. The entire scene unfolded suddenly. Naidoo, who works at JFK University Medical Center, immediately rushed to her side with four other witnesses, his medical instincts (本能) kicking in as he started assessing her condition. Among them, a race volunteer in a bright orange vest quickly radioed for help, while another witness, wearing an official’s badge, assisted in clearing the crowded path.
Upon conducting a thorough examination of her, he discovered that she was struggling to breathe and barely able to speak. She whispered in a weak voice, “I think I’m dying.” Naidoo strongly suspected that she might be suffering from dehydration (脱水) or low blood sugar levels. Such conditions could prove deadly for runners, especially during long-distance events like this one. Moreover, he also noticed that she was experiencing chest pain and confusion, symptoms that were extremely alarming and indicated a potential risk of cardiac arrest This situation demanded immediate and decisive action, leaving no time for him to think about his unfinished race.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Naidoo called for medical assistance while giving instructions to people around.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hurrying back to the race course, Naidoo found that the marathon’s closing time had just arrived.

What is the main purpose of the Transplant Games?
C.The development of British sports laws. D.The new method to solve organ shortage.
【答案】28.D 29.D 30.A 31.A
根据第二段中的“According to a news release from the Sheffield City Council, the games — which the city will host in the summer of 2026 — are the main event for the Transplant Active charity, which aims to raise awareness of organ (器官) donation and inspire recipients to stay healthy and active.(据谢菲尔德市议会发布的新闻通告,该市将于2026年夏季承办的这项赛事是移植活力慈善机构的核心活动,该机构旨在提升器官捐献的公众认知,并激励器官移植受捐者保持健康、积极的生活状态。)”
根据第三段中的“A blog on Westfield Health’s website explains that over 7,000 people in Britain are waiting for organ transplants now. On average, about three people die every day while waiting, but one donor can save more than nine lives.(韦斯特菲尔德健康保险公司官网的一篇博文介绍:英国目前有七千余人等待器官移植。平均每天约有三人在等候期间离世,而一名器官捐献者能够挽救九条以上生命。)”可知,英国器官需求远大于捐献供给。
30.推理判断题。根据第六段中的“During the 2025 Games in Oxford, a five-year-old liver (肝) recipient took part in the obstacle race, the 25-meter sprint, and the ball throw.(2025年牛津赛事中,一名五岁肝移植患儿参与障碍赛、短跑和投球项目。)”以及第七段中的“Six months after learning to breathe again, she was back on a bike, training for the Games.(珍妮术后六个月就骑车备战赛事。)”
通读全文,尤其第五段中的“That’s why the Transplant Games are so important. They draw attention to organ donation and show that recipients can live happy, full lives.(这正是移植运动会的重要意义:它提升器官捐献关注度,展现受捐者能够拥有圆满人生。)”
【答案】32.D 33.C 34.A 35.D
根据第二段中的“Still, I’m not alone. Today, hundreds of events across dozens of countries allow the light-limbed and big-bodied to race each other up some of the world’s most recognizable skyscrapers.(不过,我并非个例。
根据第三段中的“but my body can’t afford it any more after many years—so stair climbing works very well for me. There’s much less harm(但是,多年后我的身体已经承受不住马拉松了——所以爬楼梯对我来说非常合适,伤害小得多)可知,沃尔沙姆转向爬楼梯运动是因为它适合自己的身体状况。故选C项。
根据第三段中的“And, of course, it’s fast. The best runners can climb the 1,576 steps of the Empire State Building Run-Up in less than 10 minutes (当然,它速度很快。最优秀的选手能在不到10分钟内爬上帝国大厦登楼赛的1576级台阶)”可知,提及帝国大厦登楼赛是为了强调爬楼梯运动的速度之快。故选A项。
根据最后一段中的“Marathon runners often struggle as stair races require lactic acid tolerance and a degree of anaerobic fitness (which works when you’re moving too fast to use oxygen for fuel) as well as the aerobic kind used for longer efforts.(马拉松选手在爬楼梯比赛中往往会感到吃力,因为这类比赛既需要选手具备乳酸耐受性和一定程度的无氧耐力(指身体运动速度过快、无法利用氧气供能时所依赖的体能),还需要长距离运动所需的有氧耐力)”可知,马拉松与爬楼梯运动所需的体能素质不同,二者差异很大。故选D项。

根据上文“I have never been good at badminton. But since moving to Australia with my non-Malaysian husband, I’ve developed an interest in the sport. In Australia, there is little representation of my culture.(我向来不擅长打羽毛球。
38.根据上文“I clearly remember the moment when Malaysia was 16-20 against the Danes — one point away from losing the entire game.(我清楚地记得当时马来西亚队与丹麦队的比分是16比20——距离输掉整场比赛只差一分)”以及后文“The two Malaysians did not assume defeat and pressed on. The Danes did not get their winning point. Instead, we kept gaining one point after another.(那两名马来西亚选手并未认输,而是继续努力。而丹麦队未能获得胜分。然而,我们却不断得分,一点一点地逐渐领先)”可知,前文说比赛比分16-20,马来西亚队差一分就要输,后文说选手没有认输,连续追分,A项“但接着,不可能的事情发生了”正好引出这场逆风翻盘的转折,符合逻辑。
39.根据上文“When the Malaysians scored an equalizer that put them 20-20, I let out a roar. That roar was echoed thousands of miles away as Malaysians everywhere cheered their hearts out. Finally, when Malaysia scored the winning point, I experienced a collective near heart attack. Hope was rushing out of me, and along with it, a feeling I had not felt in ages.(当马来西亚队扳平比分,将比分定格在 20 比 20 时,我发出了一声欢呼。
40.根据后文“Perhaps it’s a reminder that it is beautiful that I have more than one identity. It is beautiful that a sport I am bad at can become a symbol of the home I left behind. And it’s beautiful that while the 2024 Olympics brought the world together for a few glorious weeks, it brought me-for a moment in time -back home.(也许这正提醒着我,拥有多重身份是一件美好的事情。一件我并不擅长的运动能够成为我所离开的家乡的象征,这本身就是一件美好的事情。而且,尽管2024年奥运会让全世界在短短几周内团结在一起,但它也让我(在那一刻)回到了自己的家乡)”可知,后文用“或许这提醒我……”来阐释这场比赛带给作者的感悟,C项“我至今也不能完全说清那个瞬间带给我的改变”引出后文作者的感悟,逻辑通顺。

Due to these extreme conditions, medical and rescue teams are stationed along the route to treat injuries like falls and a severe lack 64(1.5分) water.
56.toughest 57.started 58.an 59.includes 60.which 61.to finish 62.and 63.heavily 64.of 65.difficulties

此处考查固定结构sth. takes time to do sth.,表示“做某事花费多少时间”,所以应填不定式to finish。

注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Naidoo called for medical assistance while giving instructions to people around.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hurrying back to the race course, Naidoo found that the marathon’s closing time had just arrived.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Naidoo called for medical assistance while giving instructions to people around. He told the nearby crowd to step back at once to keep the air clear and avoid blocking the rescue way. Relying on his emergency room experience, he helped the woman lie in a safe position, checked her pulse and breathing nonstop, and whispered gentle words to calm her down and ease her fear. He also took quick first aid steps to relieve her chest discomfort and stabilize her condition. Before long, the professional medical team arrived and took over, and the woman’s situation got much better.
Hurrying back to the race course, Naidoo found that the marathon’s closing time had just arrived. He failed to cross the finish line and didn’t finish the half marathon as planned. However, he felt no regret. As an emergency doctor, saving a life was always more important than any race result. This unexpected experience taught him that sports is not just about competition, but about kindness and responsibility. Although he gave up the race, he got the most valuable reward — saving a stranger’s life, which filled his heart with pride.
