W: Thanks for coming to this art gallery opening. As you can see, all the art here has been painted and created to represent and celebrate local natural beauty. We come from such a beautiful place, so it is very important to realize how at risk it is. I’m not saying this to scare anyone, but to remind us how much we love our planet and how important it is to protect what we love.
Here, you’ll see images of hills on fire, powerful typhoons, and rising floods. Within our coastal city, the biggest danger is sea-level rise. Many local artists have painted our streets and train stations underwater to show how real these risks are.
Before we open the room to guests, I want to share the origin of this show. The initial idea was not fundraising or even climate messaging. We simply wanted to expand art classes in our community centers. That modest goal grew into this exhibition as students, teachers, and neighbors offered their talent, stories, and support.
Because of everyone of you, more workshops will launch next month. To thank you for helping us reach this moment, I’d like to invite several of our lead supporters to say a few words about the student program.

(本题10分)Genres are often viewed as structural frameworks for literary texts, onto which elements like imagery, character, plot, and setting are layered. These frameworks are passed down through generations, evolving over time.
Among all genres, the novel received the most critical attention in the twentieth century, often praised as the “king of genres” due to its reflection on the real world. Yet, in the nineteenth century, it was primarily seen as a form of middle-class entertainment. It was not until the twentieth century that the novel was lifted to the status of an art form, joining in the same league as painting or classical music. Later on, many scholars successively studied the characteristics of novels from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Recently, in a book of Edwin Frank, Stranger Than Fiction, he raises an appealing question: Is there such a thing as a “twentieth-century novel”? Is it meaningful to distinguish the twentieth-century novel from the nineteenth-century one—or even from the novel of the twenty-first century? Frank thinks so. In his book, he illustrates how the twentieth-century novel matures into a distinct literary genre. The twentieth century was a period of violent change; therefore, violent change is what the twentieth-century novel reflects—not, or not only, in its subject matter but in its form. Frank suggests that, modern as the twentieth-century novel is, it shows the cultural relevance to development of societies.
However, that relevance seems to have decreased. Today, the novel no longer holds a central place in the cultural conversation. People’s daily question has shifted from “What are you reading?” to “What are you streaming?” Television series have emerged as the dominant form of middle-class entertainment in the twenty-first century.
Has influential television reshaped the role of the novel? Many nineteenth-century novels gained vitality in the twentieth century through film adaptations. Henry James, for example, would likely be pleased to know that The Portrait of a Lady has been adapted into a BBC miniseries, a feature film, and even a television version—each reaching a far larger audience than the original print edition could ever have hoped for.
Why did the novel gain recognition in the twentieth century?
A.It mirrored real life.
B.It displayed attractive characters.
C.It was penned by the middle-class.
D.It was presented in entertaining styles.
Which aspect of the twentieth-century novel does Stranger Than Fiction talk about?
A.Its rises and falls. B.Its expansion and effect.
C.Its significance and limitation. D.Its evolution and uniqueness.
What is the author’s attitude towards the current role of the novel in paragraph 4?
A.Optimistic. B.Indifferent. C.Content. D.Concerned.
What does the example of The Portrait of a Lady indicate?
A.Novels lose their artistic appeal.
B.Adaptations reduce novelsˈ flavor.
C.Media breathe new life into novels.
D.TV shows change the role of novels.
【答案】28.A 29.D 30.D 31.C
根据第二段中“Among all genres, the novel received the most critical attention in the twentieth century, often praised as the “king of genres” due to its reflection on the real world.(在所有体裁中,小说在20世纪受到了最重要的关注,因其对现实世界的反映而被誉为“体裁之王”)”可知,小说在二十世纪获得了认可是因为它反映了与现实的联系。故选A。
根据第三段“In his book, he illustrates how the twentieth-century novel matures into a distinct literary genre. The twentieth century was a period of violent change; therefore, violent change is what the twentieth-century novel reflects — not, or not only, in its subject matter but in its form. Frank suggests that, modern as the twentieth-century novel is, it shows the cultural relevance to development of societies.(在他的书中,他阐述了20世纪的小说是如何发展成熟,成为一种独特的文学体裁的。
根据第四段“However, that relevance seems to have decreased. Today, the novel no longer holds a central place in the cultural conversation. People’s daily question has shifted from “What are you reading?” to “What are you streaming?” Television series have emerged as the dominant form of middle-class entertainment in the twenty-first century.(然而,这种相关性似乎已经减弱。今天,小说在文化对话中不再占据中心位置。人们的日常问题已经从“你在看什么?”到“你在看什么电视剧?”电视连续剧已成为21世纪中产阶级娱乐的主要形式)”可知,作者对于小说当下所扮演的角色的态度是担心的,故选D。
31.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Many nineteenth-century novels gained vitality in the twentieth century through film adaptations. Henry James, for example, would likely be pleased to know that The Portrait of a Lady has been adapted into a BBC miniseries, a feature film, and even a television version—each reaching a far larger audience than the original print edition could ever have hoped for.(许多19世纪的小说在20世纪通过电影改编而焕发了活力。例如,Henry James可能会很高兴地知道,The Portrait of a Lady已经被改编成BBC的迷你剧、故事片,甚至是电视版本——每一部都吸引了比原版印刷版所希望的更多的观众。)”可推知,The Portrait of a Lady的例子表明媒体为小说注入了生命。故选C。
(本题10分)For thousands of years, humans have dreamed of exploring outer space. This ancient dream has finally come true with the development of modern aerospace technology. Space exploration, known for high costs and strict technical requirements, has become an important sign of a country’s scientific strength.
In the early days, space exploration projects were completely controlled by government space agencies. At that time, rocket launch and space equipment maintenance cost a huge amount of money. Ordinary private companies did not have enough money or technology to join this field. However, with technological progress, modern reusable rockets and simple space equipment have appeared. More private space companies have taken part in space research, bringing new development chances to this field.
Though space exploration sounds far from daily life, it actually brings many practical benefits to ordinary people. Weather satellites can watch atmospheric and ocean changes in real time, helping people predict natural disasters and reduce losses. Space positioning technology supports smart transportation and global logistics. Besides, new materials created for space exploration are now widely used in medical devices and sports equipment. Space observation also helps scientists find new planets for future human exploration.
However, space exploration still faces many unavoidable problems. Long-term stay in space will harm astronauts’ bones and cardiovascular health. Cosmic radiation may damage human body cells. What’s more, plenty of waste space equipment has become space debris. These fast-moving fragments may hit working satellites, causing serious safety problems for future space activities.
Despite these technical and safety challenges, space exploration is still of great value. It not only helps humans know more about the universe but also encourages young people to study science. In the long run, space exploration will keep pushing human civilization forward.
What can we know about early space exploration?
A.Wide private participation. B.Total government control.
C.Low-cost rocket use. D.Civilian-tech improvement.
What practical benefit does space technology bring?
A.Better transport management. B.Improved magnetic environment.
C.Instant planet migration. D.Enhanced physical health.
What is the author’s view on current space exploration?
A.Easy-to-solve technical problems. B.Space debris as the top threat.
C.Minor radiation influence. D.Various restricting risks.
What is the author’s attitude toward space exploration?
A.Critical. B.Doubtful. C.Uncertain. D.Cautiously optimistic.
【答案】32.B 33.A 34.D 35.D
根据第二段中“In the early days, space exploration projects were completely controlled by government space agencies.(早期,太空探索项目完全由政府航天机构控制。)”
根据第四段“Long-term stay in space will harm astronauts’ bones and cardiovascular health. Cosmic radiation may damage human body cells. What’s more, plenty of waste space equipment has become space debris. These fast-moving fragments may hit working satellites, causing serious safety problems for future space activities.(长期驻留太空会损害宇航员的骨骼与心血管健康。宇宙辐射可能损伤人体细胞。此外,大量废弃航天设备形成了太空碎片。这些高速飞行的碎块有可能撞击正常运行的卫星,给未来太空活动带来严重安全隐患。)”可知,当前的太空探索面临着多种限制性风险。
35.推理判断题。 根据第五段“Despite these technical and safety challenges, space exploration is still of great value. It not only helps humans know more about the universe but also encourages young people to study science. In the long run, space exploration will keep pushing human civilization forward.(尽管存在这些技术与安全层面的难题,太空探索依旧具备重大价值。它不仅帮助人类加深对宇宙的认知,还能激励青少年钻研科学。长远来看,太空探索会持续推动人类文明向前发展。)”可知,作者在承认挑战的同时肯定了太空探索的价值,持谨慎乐观的态度。
(本题12.5分)Schools across the country have invested billions of dollars in tablets, laptops, and high-speed internet with the expectation that more technology means better learning. 36(2.5分) A large body of evidence demonstrates that the issue is complicated, with more downsides than most people anticipate.
Take, for example, an international study conducted by a global educational research organization. In it, researchers examined standardized testing data from 15-year-olds across dozens of countries. They found students using technology the most tended to perform worse than those using it moderately. A separate analysis revealed that the more hours American students spent daily on computers doing English language arts, the lower their reading scores. 37(2.5分) Another research found that higher levels of screen time at ages two and three were significantly associated with poorer performance on developmental screening tests at ages 3 and 5.
But researchers say the evidence demonstrates that technology can also be used to promote learning. For example, a well-known educational research project found that using computers for research is associated with higher reading scores.
How technology is used also matters. 39(2.5分) Instead of just putting devices in students’ hands, these nations used technology to support teacher collaboration, professional development, and lesson-sharing, which saw better outcomes than those that focused primarily on student-facing devices.
To effectively support student learning, the research shows that moderate levels of technology use that support broader educational goals work best.
A.But what does the research show?
B.And the reality is far from satisfying.
C.The same holds true for younger children, too.
D.Using technology in educational settings is complex.
E.Researchers found students performed worse without electronic devices.
F.And other researchers found some literacy and math apps do support learning.
G.A global educational research group found some nations with top-performing students used technology differently.
【答案】36.A 37.C 38.F 39.G 40.D
上文“Schools across the country have invested billions of dollars in tablets, laptops, and high-speed internet with the expectation that more technology means better learning. (全国各地的学校在平板电脑、笔记本电脑和高速互联网上投入了数十亿美元,期望更多的技术意味着更好的学习。)”指出学校对技术提升学习的普遍期待,A选项“But what does the research show? (但研究表明了什么?)”与上文构成转折关系,引出下文对研究结果的探讨;下文“A large body of evidence demonstrates that the issue is complicated, with more downsides than most people anticipate. 六、书面表达
67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
A few months before I started high school, my parents gave me the best gift: a cellphone. I spent the whole summer with my face in the screen. I didn’t pay attention to my family or the things around me. Being online was more important than being with people.
So, you can guess how unhappy I was when I learned what my dad planned for our family vacation that year. “This year, ” my dad said, “we’re going to do something special. We’re going camping!” It was not my dream vacation because I was still thinking about my phone.
In fact, I was so busy looking at my phone that I didn’t look up until we drove across a bridge to the campsite. I looked out of the window and saw tall redwood trees. Their branches (树枝) seemed to touch the sky. I saw a river, with dark water showing between the white rapids (激流). The air from the open windows was hot. But none of that caught my eye. The reason I looked up was much more serious: my phone had no service
The last hour in the car was hard. My dad said he had chosen a campsite with no cell service, and my phone would be useless until we got home. I would be stuck in the forest for four days with no way to reach the outside world!
On the first day, I went through every teenage feeling: I was angry, I asked for help, and I kept going between sadness and anger. I went to bed angrily that night. But when I woke up in the morning, something had changed.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右,可参考文中加粗词汇部分;
I stopped looking at my phone and started looking around me.

The next days went by fast because we did many fun things.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I stopped looking at my phone and started looking around me. I walked out of the tent and saw how beautiful the forest was. The trees stood tall and quiet. Birds sang in the morning light. I saw a small river running beside the campsite. The water was so clear that I could see the stones at the bottom. For the first time, I felt peace. My dad came over with a smile. “Want to go for a walk?” he asked. I nodded. We walked along the river and talked about many things. I didn’t think about my phone at all. It felt good to just be there with him.
The next days went by fast because we did many fun things. We went fishing and I caught my first fish. Dad taught me how to make a fire. We cooked together and ate under the stars. At night, we sat by the fire and told stories. I even made friends with other kids at the campsite. We played games and ran through the forest. I laughed more than I had in a long time. When it was time to go home, I felt sad to leave. On the way back, I looked at my phone but didn’t turn it on. I just looked out the window and smiled. I realized that being present is better than being online.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右,可参考文中加粗词汇部分;
I stopped looking at my phone and started looking around me.
