(本题7.5分)Building and maintaining healthy relationships is a key part of a happy and successful life. Whether at school, in the workplace, or in the community, good interpersonal skills help us connect with others. Here are some practical tips to enhance your social abilities.
Start with a Simple Gesture
Many people feel shy about starting a conversation. You don’t need to say something perfect. A friendly smile, a warm greeting, or a simple compliment (赞美) can open the door. Being the first to say “hello” shows confidence and makes others feel comfortable.
Find Common Ground
Shared interests are the foundation of strong connections. When you talk to someone, try to discover what you both enjoy — be it sports, music, books, or movies. Discussing common topics makes conversations flow more naturally and helps build a bond.
Listen Actively
Good communication is more about listening than talking. Show genuine interest in what others say. Maintain eye contact, nod, and ask follow-up questions. This makes people feel valued and understood, which deepens your relationship.
Handle Conflicts Wisely
Disagreements are normal. When they happen, stay calm and respectful. Express your feelings honestly without blaming the other person. Try to see the situation from their perspective and work together to find a solution. A wise resolution can sometimes make a relationship even stronger.
By practicing these skills, you can build a wide and supportive social network. Remember, positive relationships require effort, but the rewards are truly valuable.

A.Prepare a well-organized speech. B.Use a simple and friendly gesture.

A.It helps to build a relationship. B.It makes you win an argument.

A.Try to avoid them in a wise way. B.Stay calm and talk it out respectfully.
C.Express your anger clearly and directly. D.Ask a third person to decide properly.
(本题10分)Saahil Mehta, a 40-year-old Indian living in the United Arab Emirates, believes in gifting his two children, Yuvraj, 8 and Alisha, 6, experiences rather than material possessions (东西) to celebrate special occasions. This could be in the form of a visit to a theme park or a staycation in a new hotel.
“As a result, their desire to buy things has gone down. This is our way of addressing their basic needs,” said Mehta.
In December 2019, Mehta took the family to visit the Indian city of Dharamshala where they spent time with poor children in a school. This was an eye-opener for Alisha and Yuvraj, as they realised that what was normal for them was a treat for those kids. “For those kids, it is a blessing (幸福) to be able to attend school. This experience taught my kids to count their blessings,” said Mehta.
During the holiday, the Mehta family gave away pens and pencils to 250 children. This helped Alisha and Yuvraj understand the cost difference in schooling. “They notice how much we spend on their education. The difference in costs helped them make a comparison,” explained Mehta.
Back home, the kids are encouraged to do basic housework like making their beds, opening curtains, etc. But Mehta never gives them money for doing those things. This way, they are taught that everyone has to chip in to keep the household running. When they do other tasks beyond the essentials, like massaging the mother’s shoulders, etc., Mehta pays them a small amount.
Pointing out a weakness in the education system, Mehta said children don’t get any experience in financial literacy (知识) until they attend university. The father is planning to introduce the concept of a family bank to his children. He also wants his children to pay attention to financial pitfalls such as spending beyond their means, too much use of credit cards, etc. He has set a plan on how money will be spent on some needs. It’s up to his children to use the money carefully.
What do we know about Mehta’s way of gifting his children?
A.It isn’t really to their liking.
B.It changes the way they buy things.
C.It allows him to connect with them.
D.It teaches them about spending money wisely.
What did Mehta’s children learn during the visit to Dharamshala?
A.They should appreciate what they have.
B.They should make friends with the poor.
C.They should cut the cost of their education.
D.They should treat different people differently.
Why did Mehta refuse to pay his children for doing housework?
A.To warn that they must work hard to make money.
B.To show that it’s what they’re supposed to do.
C.To encourage them to be selfless and careful.
D.To force them to develop a good habit.
What is the problem with the education system according to Mehta?
A.It doesn’t prepare children for money management.
B.It doesn’t suggest the importance of saving money.
C.It doesn’t encourage children to pay with cash.
D.It doesn’t teach children ways to make money.
(本题10分)People at your age, like classmates, are peers. When they influence your decisions or actions, it’s called peer pressure — something all of us have faced and must deal with at some point in our life. The need to follow the crowd and do what the majority are doing forces us to take up activities which we wouldn’t otherwise engage in.
Recent studies show peer pressure can bring an upside: it makes you reflect on your actions and improve. Observing others working hard to reach their goals will definitely encourage you to make a great effort to achieve something positive. For example, when a teen knows that his teammates are practicing hard to become better players, it will directly affect his own performance. He will put in twice the time and energy to raise the level of his game and ensure he has a place on the team. Positive peer groups also help you develop healthy habits that shape your personality and future. If friends read regularly or exercise daily, you may adopt these habits too, with peer pressure turning into motivation.
However, just as everything has two sides, peer pressure also has negatives. It can lower self-confidence; some kids give in to fit in, avoid mockery (嘲笑), or satisfy curiosity, abandoning good judgment for “everyone’s doing it.” It may also distance you from loved ones, making teens feel misunderstood and drawn to bad company.
Peer pressure affects many areas of life, from clothes to music. It can be hard to resist, forcing you into discomfort. Thus, recognizing and choosing positive peer influences for healthy, happy experiences is a lifelong task.
What does the underlined word “upside” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Risk B.Advantage C.Difficulty D.Change
Which of the following is a result of positive peer pressure?
A.A student starts reading often because his friends do.
B.A teen smokes to avoid being laughed at by peers.
C.A child skips homework to play with classmates.
D.A teenager keeps secrets from parents to fit in.
Why do some kids give in to negative peer pressure?
A.To learn from others’ good habits B.To keep up with the crowd and avoid being mocked
C.To double their effort in team training D.To develop a lifelong good habit
What is the author’s suggestion towards peer pressure?
A.Ignore all peer influences in daily life B.Give in to peer pressure to fit in with the group
C.Recognize and choose positive peer influences D.Stay away from all peers to avoid pressure
(本题10分)The value of embracing adversity (逆境) is almost always discovered after the fact. This is because it is also a truth that learning in the face of challenge, disappointment and frustration is as important as understanding what it takes to be successful. Learning these lessons well and surviving the tests that the lessons lie in lead to even greater moments of confidence and accomplishment.
Young athletes that are comfortable overcoming adversities are the ones that find the greatest growth, and ultimately the greatest success. Famous strength coach Vern Gambetta and others summarized this concept in the thought that, to be great, you must “be comfortable being uncomfortable”. To put it bluntly (直言地) the best athletes welcome challenge and adversity as a requirement for growth and achievement. The best coaches create environments that challenge limits and take athletes to places they wouldn’t go to on their own, and even create adversity from time to time for this reason.
To sum up, one very basic but exceptionally powerful conclusion can be reached: Young athletes, when facing moments of frustration and challenge in their personal sporting development, must be encouraged to solve problems themselves, work harder to overcome disappointments, and take ownership and control of their own destinies.
In today’s society, unfortunately, eliminating any sign of potential adversity for young athletes is universal (普遍的). Well-intentioned individuals (parents, coaches and many other related adults) frequently try to remove every barrier and challenge on the road their young athlete travels. The unfortunate product of these good intentions is only realized when the athletes finally come to a challenge that they must meet alone and then find themselves completely unprepared to deal with it and have a tough time reviving if they fail to overcome the challenge.
Psychologist Max Trenerry notes that the concept of willingness to accept adversity or failure is important whether for learning new skills in sports or dealing with anxiety-causing thoughts in therapy. He adds that, while every parent may ‘rescue’ their children from time to time, doing so frequently creates bigger long-term complications and prevents growth of personal perseverance.
Which statement will Vern Gambetta probably agree with?
A.Great athletes are good at avoiding adversity.
B.Good learners tend to have ambitious goals.
C.Athletes leading a relaxed life can be more successful.
D.Coaches should bring more challenges to athletes.
Which of the following can replace the underlined word “eliminating” in paragraph 4?
A.Facilitating. B.Creating. C.Removing. D.Welcoming.
What can we infer about the practice of removing adversity for young athletes?
A.It helps athletes build confidence quickly.
B.It may cause long-term problems for athletes.
C.It is supported by most psychologists.
D.It prepares athletes well for future challenges.
What does Max Trenerry think of parents “rescuing” their children frequently?
A.It is harmful to the development of children’s perseverance.
B.It is the best way to protect children from failure.
C.It helps children learn new skills more easily.
D.It reduces children’s anxiety about challenges.

Emphasize the reason to purchase tickets early, and count down to the date of the sale in each post.

40(2.5分) The most successful promoters offer limited-time sales windows several times throughout the months leading up to the event. If your attendees hit snooze for the first promotion, give them a chance to jump at the alarm for the next one.

Society often celebrates success and hides failure, but the path to achievement is usually paved with setbacks. J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter manuscript was rejected by twelve publishers. Steven Spielberg was rejected from film school multiple times. These stories remind us that failure is not the opposite of success; it is 56(1.5分) integral part of the journey. Failure provides invaluable data. It teaches us what doesn’t work, 57(1.5分) forces us to innovate and adapt. Thomas Edison famously said of the light bulb, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” This mindset views failure as a learning opportunity rather than 58(1.5分) final verdict. The fear of failure, however, can be paralyzing. It can prevent us 59(1.5分) taking risks or trying new things. To overcome this, we must reframe our perception of failure. We should aim for progress, not perfection. Each small stumble is a step forward 60(1.5分) (long) as we learn from it. Resilience — the ability to bounce back from adversity — is a key trait developed through experiencing and overcoming failure. Building resilience requires self-compassion and a focus on effort over outcome. It’s also helpful to share our failures; 61(1.5分) (do) so reduces stigma and creates a supportive environment where others feel safe to take risks. In science, business, and art, breakthroughs are rarely achieved without prior failures. Embracing failure as a teacher, 62(1.5分) than a tormentor, unlocks creativity and perseverance. So, the next time you face a setback, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this?” This simple question can transform a moment of 63(1.5分) (frustrate) into a powerful catalyst for growth. Remember, the only true failure is the failure 64(1.5分) learn and to try again. Success often lies just beyond the point where most people choose 65(1.5分) (give) up.

My father had been a sales trainer who taught presentation skills. He traveled across the world for work and competed in tennis tournaments on the weekends. “Life is good,” he would always say, with a twinkle in his eyes.
Everything changed during my second year of high school. A sudden stroke (中风) left my dad with severe physical and neurological deficits. He was unable to move the right side of his body. But the most serious problem, amidst so many others, was his loss of speech.
The stroke resulted in a disorder called aphasia, which damages someone’s ability to communicate and understand language. It was like my father was a prisoner in his own body, unable to do and say exactly what he wanted.
The aphasia also caused my dad to say things he did not mean. He would sometimes cry in the middle of a funny movie and laugh when something tragic happened. I found myself going through embarrassment whenever we were in public. My father would wave his cane like a weapon and shout incoherent yet harmless phrases at passersby. It upset me. I hated the stares and hushed comments, even though he did not notice.
One afternoon, I came home to find my dad watching an old video. It was a video of my father and me playing tennis. What used to be such a simple pleasure was now impossible. We watched in silence until I couldn’t hold my grief any longer. I found myself shaking and crying. At any time, he could have another stroke. There was no promise of tomorrow. I felt overcome by fear, both for my family and for my father.
Father’s lips moved while he watched me cry. He clearly wanted to say something, but was powerless. I wondered what he wanted to say to inspire me to face up to the darkness we were going through.
I finally found my answer when one day I took my dad to the park, rowing a boat as we did a few times before. “You …and… me!” he managed to say.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;

【答案】13.A 14.B 15.C 16.B
W: Welcome to Growing Space. This is Sarah. Today we have Professor Carter with us. Professor Carter, could you tell us how to answer the question “What is your greatest weakness?” in a job interview?
M: OK, this question is a test of self-awareness. It’s important to be sincere when answering interview questions, because an inappropriate answer might cause you to lose the job opportunity.
W: I will say, “My greatest weakness is that I am a perfectionist.” What do you think of this answer?
M: This is a strategy of turning a strength into a weakness. We don’t recommend this because the answer sounds perfect, but it doesn’t feel honest.
W: So what is a proper answer?
M: I suggest structuring your answer according to the PAR model. The first step is to identify your problem.

M: I have a question for all of us. Is all winning success? Winning is really, really fun, but I am here to share my idea. Winning does not always equal success. All around the world we have created the “win at all costs” culture. We have become so focused on that end result instead of the process and particularly when the end result is a win.
Real success is developing champions in life for our world. Win or lose, we may be able to plan our way to a win, but we can’t plan our way to success.
Back to 1990 when I was first made the head coach of the UCLA women’s gymnastic team, I acted like a head coach whose only thought was to figure out how to win, so I became tough talking and mean. Our team asked me for a team meeting for over two hours. They gave me examples of how my arrogance was hurtful. Then I chose to change. It is so much easier to give orders than to figure out how to motivate someone to be better.
We all know this motivation takes a really long time to take root. The key to promote motivation is to develop trust through patience and honesty.
We are all coaches in some ways. We all have the responsibility to develop champions in life for our world. This is what real success looks like and that is what we call a win-win.

What is the problem with the education system according to Mehta?
A.It doesn’t prepare children for money management.
B.It doesn’t suggest the importance of saving money.

This is our way of addressing their basic needs(因此,他们购买东西的欲望下降了。

Why do some kids give in to negative peer pressure?

根据第二段中划线词后文“it makes you reflect on your actions and improve. Observing others working hard to reach their goals will definitely encourage you to make a great effort to achieve something positive. (它会让你反思自己的行为并加以改进。看到别人为了实现目标而努力奋斗,肯定会激励你付出巨大的努力去达成一些积极的事情)”以及“Positive peer groups also help you develop healthy habits that shape your personality and future. (积极的同伴群体也有助于你养成健康的习惯,塑造你的个性和未来)”可知,同伴压力能带来积极的结果,因此,划线词“upside”应为“优点,好处”之意,与“Advantage”意思相近。故选B项。
29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“If friends read regularly or exercise daily, you may adopt these habits too, with peer pressure turning into motivation. (如果朋友们经常阅读或每天锻炼,你也会养成这些习惯,同伴压力变成了动力)”可知,一个学生因为朋友经常阅读而开始经常阅读是积极同伴压力的结果。故选A项。
根据第三段中“It can lower self-confidence; some kids give in to fit in, avoid mockery (嘲笑), or satisfy curiosity, abandoning good judgment for “everyone’s doing it.” (它会降低自信心;有些孩子为了融入群体、避免嘲笑或满足好奇心而屈服,为了“大家都在做”而放弃良好的判断力)”可知,有些孩子屈服于消极的同伴压力是为了融入群体,避免被嘲笑。故选B项。
31.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Thus, recognizing and choosing positive peer influences for healthy, happy experiences is a lifelong task. (因此,为了健康、快乐的体验,识别和选择积极的同伴影响是一项终身任务)”可知,作者对于同伴压力的建议是识别并选择积极的同伴影响。故选C项。
【答案】32.D 33.C 34.B 35.A
根据第二段中“Famous strength coach Vern Gambetta and others summarized this concept in the thought that, to be great, you must “be comfortable being uncomfortable”. To put it bluntly (直言地) the best athletes welcome challenge and adversity as a requirement for growth and achievement. The best coaches create environments that challenge limits and take athletes to places they wouldn’t go to on their own, and even create adversity from time to time for this reason.( 著名的力量教练Vern Gambetta和其他人总结了这个概念,认为要想变得伟大,你必须“适应不舒服”。
根据第四段划线单词后文“Well-intentioned individuals (parents, coaches and many other related adults) frequently try to remove every barrier and challenge on the road their young athlete travels.( 善意的个人(父母、教练和许多其他相关的成年人)经常试图消除他们的年轻运动员在旅途中的每一个障碍和挑战。)”
根据第四段中“The unfortunate product of these good intentions is only realized when the athletes finally come to a challenge that they must meet alone and then find themselves completely unprepared to deal with it and have a tough time reviving if they fail to overcome the challenge.( 这些良好意愿的不幸结果只有在运动员最终面临挑战时才会意识到,他们必须独自面对挑战,然后发现自己完全没有准备好应对它,如果他们不能克服挑战,他们将很难恢复。)”
根据最后一段“Psychologist Max Trenerry notes that the concept of willingness to accept adversity or failure is important whether for learning new skills in sports or dealing with anxiety-causing thoughts in therapy. He adds that, while every parent may ‘rescue’ their children from time to time, doing so frequently creates bigger long-term complications and prevents growth of personal perseverance.( 心理学家Max Trenerry指出,愿意接受逆境或失败的概念是很重要的,无论是在学习体育运动中的新技能还是在治疗中处理引起焦虑的想法。他还说,虽然每个父母都会时不时地“拯救”自己的孩子,但这样做往往会造成更大的长期问题,并阻碍个人毅力的培养。)”可推知,Max Trenerry 明确表示,频繁“拯救”孩子会造成更严重的长期问题,阻碍孩子毅力的培养。故选A项。

56.an 57.and 58.a 59.from 60.as long 61.doing 62.rather 63.frustration 64.to 65.to give

故填an。
故填and。
故填a。
故填from。
引导条件状语从句,表示“只要”用as long as。故填as long。

failure to do sth. 故填to。
短语choose to do sth. 故填to give。

Dear fellow students,
Today, I feel honored to share my thoughts on the topic “Learning to Make Choices”.
As we grow up, we are constantly faced with various situations where we have to make choices. When meeting difficulties, I choose to face them bravely rather than escape, because only by overcoming challenges can we make progress. If opportunities arise, I will seize them without hesitation, for chances always favor the prepared mind. When it comes to life, I choose to follow my heart and pursue what truly matters to me.
Through these experiences, I have come to realize that making choices is never easy, but it is an essential part of our growth. Even if we make wrong decisions sometimes, we should never give up or regret, because every choice teaches us something valuable.
I sincerely hope that every one of us can learn to make wise choices and take full responsibility for our decisions. Let’s embrace every choice with courage and confidence!
Thank you for listening.

1】When meeting difficulties, I choose to face them bravely rather than escape, because only by overcoming challenges can we make progress.(运用了When引导的状语从句的省略,because引导的原因状语从句和only+状语位于句首引出的部分倒装结构)
2】When it comes to life, I choose to follow my heart and pursue what truly matters to me.(运用了when引导的状语从句以及what引导的宾语从句)
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Paragraph 1:
Shocked, I wanted to hear more.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
“Yes. Life is good.” I whispered back, completing it for him.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Shocked, I wanted to hear more. Seized by eagerness and excitement, I leaned forward, inclining my ear to his lips. I tried to pretend not to be waiting though I knew Dad was struggling for his voice. My dad looked at me with a familiar expression. “Life… good.” The words came in a mumble, but I got them. Maybe because of his bright smile, or a rush of warm air, in that precious moment, I understood exactly what he meant.
“Yes. Life is good.” I whispered back, completing it for him. That was what he would always say before his stroke. I couldn’t imagine how tirelessly he had worked to recover what he had lost or to regain a fair amount of his speech. I could comprehend now he had always been trying to inspire me to move forward in the face of the darkest times. I used to love the light for it showed me the way; yet now I appreciate the darkness for it shows me the stars.
③理解:understand/ figure out
1】 Seized by eagerness and excitement, I leaned forward, inclining my ear to his lips.
2】 Maybe because of his bright smile, or a rush of warm air, in that precious moment, I understood exactly what he meant.
