专题04 阅读理解(说明文) 主题语境01 人与社会-人际交往 (25-26七上·北京第八中学·期中)What makes family so special? The close feelings we have for our parents, brothers, sisters, and other family members are called family ties. It’s not just about living together. These ties build a strong support system (体系) that makes us feel safe, loved, and happy. Studies show that these close family ties are built on a few things: how our bodies work, our feelings, and the things we do every day. First, from how our bodies work, family members share genes (基因) with each other. This natural tie is why we often want to protect and take care of our families. Another reason is a special thing in our bodies called a “love hormone (荷尔蒙)”. When family members hug, speak kindly, or have fun together, their bodies give out more of this hormone. It helps people trust (信任) each other more and feel closer. Also, our feelings are very important. Family is our first school for learning how to get along with people. It is where we learn to trust, talk to others, and understand how they feel—this is called empathy. Children who grow up in a happy and loving family usually find it easier to make good friends later in life. A strong family is like a safe boat. It helps its members face hard times with more courage (勇气). In fact, the things we do every day also play an important role in family ties. There are some important ways to create (创造) strong family ties, like eating meals or playing games together. Talking openly and listening to each other kindly is also important. Even when people have different ideas, healthy families try to talk about the problem in a peaceful way but not arguing (争吵) angrily. By doing these things, family members can build stronger ties. In short, family love is a powerful mix of nature, feelings, and daily care. It gives us a sense of who we are, a feeling of belonging, and support. When we understand how important these ties are, we can work on making our families even happier and stronger. 1.What does the “love hormone” mainly do? A. It helps us study better. B. It stops us from getting sick. C. It makes us feel close to others. 2.The word “empathy” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________. A. learning to get along with people B. understanding what others feel C. having the power to lead others 3.Which of the following can help to build stronger family ties? A. Staying alone in your room after school. B. Having meals together with the family. C. Keeping your problems to yourself. 4.The writer probably believes that ________. A. family ties are about living together B. healthy families don’t have problems C. family ties help go through storms in life 主题语境02 人与社会-科普知识与现代技术 (25-26七上·北京第四中学·期中) Whether you’re preparing for an exam or trying to learn a new musical instrument or even trying to perfect a new sport, sleep may secretly help improve your memory. Studies have actually told us that sleep is important for memory in at least three different ways. We know that you need sleep before learning to actually get your brain ready, almost like a dry sponge (海绵), ready to take in new information. And without sleep, the brain becomes “waterlogged” and can’t take in new information or create new memories properly. It’s not just important that you sleep before learning, you also need to sleep after learning to hit the save button on those new memories so that you don’t forget. In fact, sleep helps protect and strengthen memories, cementing them into the brain’s neural networks (神经网络). Scientists are starting to understand how sleep helps with this process. The first mechanism (机制) is a file-transfer (文件传输) process. And here, we can speak about two different structures within the brain. The first is called the hippocampus and it sits on the left and the right side of your brain. And you can think of the hippocampus almost like the informational inbox of your brain. It’s very good at receiving new memory files and holding onto them. The second structure that we can speak about is called the frontal cortex. It sits on top of your brain. And during deep sleep, there is this file-transfer mechanism. Think of the hippocampus like a USB stick and your cortex like the hard drive. And during the day, we’re going around and we’re collecting lots of files, but then during deep sleep at night, because of that limited storage ability, we have to transfer those files from the hippocampus over to the hard drive of the brain, the cortex. And that’s exactly one of the mechanisms that deep sleep seems to provide. Scientists have discovered another mechanism that helps store those memories into the brain, called replay. In an experiment, they studied how rats learned to run around a maze (迷宫) by recording brain activity. As the rats ran through the maze, their brain cells reacted to different parts of the maze, creating a “memory signature” (记忆特征). Interestingly, when the rats fell asleep, their brains replayed this memory signature. However, during sleep, the replay happened almost 10 times faster than when the rats were awake. This process is thought to help strengthen and store the memory. This seems to be the second way in which sleep can actually strengthen memories. The final way in which sleep is beneficial for memory is connection and organization. In fact, we’re now learning that sleep is much more powerful than we ever imagined. Sleep doesn’t just simply strengthen individual memories, sleep will actually cleverly interconnect new memories together. As a result, you wake up with a refreshed network of connections in your mind, allowing you to solve problems that seemed impossible before. And this is probably the reason that you’ve never been told to stay awake on a problem. Instead, you’re told to sleep on a problem, and that’s exactly what the science teaches us. 1.How can we make the most of sleep to improve learning? A. By emptying the brain right after learning. B. By sleeping for at least eight hours every day. C. By taking in more information before sleeping. D. By getting enough sleep before and after learning. 2.What does the word “cementing” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean? A. Breaking. B. Storing. C. Changing. D. Shaping. 3.What can we learn from the passage? A. The file-transfer mechanism works during the day. B. The hippocampus interconnects memories together. C. The cortex is where memories go during deep sleep. D. The brain replays everything we notice when awake. 4.What is the passage mainly about? A. The importance of enough sleep. B. We can remember words by reading them every day. For example, we can read words like “apple”, “book” every morning. Also, using words in sentences helps us remember them better. If we learn the word “happy”, we can say “I am happy today.” Second, listening is important. We can listen to English songs or stories. Songs like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” are fun and easy to understand. When we listen, we can try to repeat what we hear. For example, when we hear “On his farm he had a cow,” we can try to say the words again. We can also watch some interesting English cartoons. There are easy English words in these cartoons. Third, speaking English is necessary (必要的). We can talk with our classmates in English. For example, we can ask “How are you?” “What’s your name?” Don’t be shy. The more we speak, the better we get. We can also join an English club at school to talk with more classmates. Fourth, reading English books is helpful. We can start with easy books, like those with many pictures. When we read, we can find new words and learn their meanings (意思) from the books. We can read books about animals, such as “The Cat in the Hat”, or stories about daily life. Fifth, writing in English is a good way to practice. We can write short diaries every day. For example, “Today is sunny. I go to the park with my friend. We see many birds in the park. But it’s important for both children and parents. Quality time doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money or go out every day. It’s about making the most of the time you have together. Talk and Listen Talking and listening to each other helps families stay close. When kids feel they can talk to their parents, they are more likely to share their problems. This makes them feel better and helps them grow. Cook Together Cooking together is a great way to spend time with kids. It helps them learn about food and feel happy with what they make. Trying new recipes (烹饪法) can also be a fun adventure for the whole family. Play Together Playing games with your kids is not just fun, it’s important for their learning and growing up. It helps them use their imagination (想象力) and learn to solve problems. When you play games with your kids, even if you don’t understand all the rules sometimes, it shows you care about them, and that’s all they need. Spending quality time with family is not about how much time you spend, but what you do with it. The most important thing is to keep finding time to be together, no matter how short or long. Try to make it a habit so it becomes a regular part of your life. 1.What does quality time with family mean? A. Spending a lot of money. B. Going out with kids every day. C. Three hundred miles isn’t that far, so you would probably expect the island to be home to the same sorts of plants and animals found on the mainland. But in the case of this island, called Madagascar, you would be wrong. More than 80 percent of the plants and animals in Madagascar are found nowhere else in the world. How is it possible that such a special island came into being? Scientists believe that Madagascar was once part of the mainland of Africa. A long time ago it separated from the mainland. The island kept whatever plants and animals living on it at the time, and other animals later moved to it, some floating (漂浮) on pieces of wood or on leaves. Together with the original species (物种) of animals on the island, these animals gave rise to the amazing variety of creatures (生物多样化) found on Madagascar today. One of the most well-known animals on Madagascar is the lemur, a long-tailed animal like a monkey. You might have seen a ring-tailed lemur with a black-and-white tail in a zoo, but there are about 30 other types of lemurs. Today all of Madagascar’s lemurs are considered endangered. Because they live in only a small area of the world, losing their home can put them in danger of dying out. Another type of Madagascar animal is the chameleon. Almost half the chameleon species on Earth are found only on this island. These animals are known for their ability to change color. A chameleon changes color, matching light, temperature, and especially its mood. A stressed chameleon, for example, will look different from a calm chameleon. Chameleons also use color changes as a way to communicate with others. Although many of the species that once made their home on Madagascar are now not found any more, scientists are still making discoveries. Just a few years ago, scientists found a new species of Madagascan spider, now known as Darwin’s bark spider. This spider can make a web that is stronger than Kevlar, a material that is used to make body armor (铠甲). The spider makes webs that cross wide rivers! The widest web discovered so far was 82 feet across. Madagascar is an island filled with wonderful, one of a kind creatures and plants. It is a place that deserves (值得) protection, a true oasis of life. 1.What do the underlined words “gave rise to” probably mean? A. Resulted in. B. Kept up with. C. Turned into. D. Got along with. 2.What can we learn from the passage? A. Lemurs choose to live in Madagascar as they’re endangered on the mainland. B. Half of the chameleons on Earth are found nowhere except in Madagascar. C. Chameleons send different messages to each other by changing color. D. The Darwin’s bark spider is well-known for making body armor. 3.What is the writer’s purpose in writing this passage? A. To encourage people to protect the island. B. To invite people to take a tour to the island. C. To introduce some amazing animal and plant species. D. To explain why the creatures are different on the island. 主题语境01 人与社会-科普知识与现代技术 Passage 1 (25-26七上·北京二中·期中)Liu, who lives in Beijing and loves birds very much, said that she used to have to go deep into the forest to take pictures of birds. But now, she can often see rare bird species (种类) much closer to her home. “Over the past few years, the water level in the Yongding River has gone up and its ecology (生态) has improved. So when I take a walk with my family on weekends, it’s really nice. We can often see all kinds of birds,” Liu said. Starting from late autumn when birds started to move to other places, dozens of rare species, like peregrine falcons (游隼) and black-winged kites (黑翅鸢), have come to the Yongding River. This has made bird enthusiasts in Beijing very excited and they are all eager to watch these birds. Wild birds can show us how good or bad a region’s ecological environment is. To some extent, their coming here means that the local ecological conditions have become better. A similar situation is also happening in the bird habitat improvement demonstration area northeast of Beijing’s Miyun Reservoir. In the past few months, more than 10,000 migratory birds (候鸟) have gathered there. “Recently, with more efforts in protecting and restoring living things, the Miyun Reservoir has more different kinds of living things and its ecosystem has become more stable,” said Wang Qun from the management office of the reservoir. By the end of December 2023, the Miyun Reservoir had recorded 235 species, an increase of 45 compared to 2020. Some bird species that are under the first-class national protection have come here often. But it wasn’t always like this. In the past, because of the fast development of cities, the increasing population and too much use of water resources, the ecology in Beijing got worse and the land sank (下沉) in some places. In 2023, the water ecological monitoring (监测) and health assessment (评价) report of Beijing showed that 83% of the main rivers, lakes and wetlands in Beijing were in a healthy state. The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is the biggest one of its kind in the world. According to a press conference on Thursday, over the past 10 years, it has sent more than 76.7 billion cubic meters of water to the northern regions of our country through its middle and eastern routes. More than 185 million people in China have directly benefited from this project. 1.Why can Liu now see rare birds much closer to her home instead of going deep into the forest? A. She has bought better cameras to find birds easily. B. The water level of the Yongding River has risen and its ecology has improved. C. Rare birds have lost their natural habitats (栖息地) in the forest. D. The government has built bird-watching spots near her home. 2.What does the underlined word “state” mean in the passage? A. 公布 B. 州 C. 陈述 D. 状态 3.What is the main purpose of this passage? A. To introduce Liu’s hobby of taking pictures of rare birds. B. To explain how the South-to-North Water Diversion Project works. C. To show the improvement of Beijing’s ecological environment and the related reasons. D. To compare the ecological conditions of the Yongding River and the Miyun Reservoir. Passage 2 (25-26七上·北京第一七一中学·期中)Barcodes, a kind of smart code, have changed how we shop. This 77-year-old clever invention makes buying things much faster and easier. The story began in 1948 when engineers Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver made the first barcode. 26 years later, supermarkets started using it. Before barcodes, supermarket workers needed to type prices (输入价格) by hand. They had to spend much time and often made mistakes. a barcode Today, stores around the world scan (扫描) barcodes more than 6 billion times every day! These black-and-white pictures tell important information about the products (产品), such as how much they are, when they were made, where they come from and so on. For store workers, barcodes are useful because they can tell what are in stock (有现货). For example, if a store has 100 chocolate bars and sells 20, the workers will know that there are 80 left thanks to barcodes. This saves workers hours of counting and makes sure there are no empty shelves. But barcodes aren’t just for supermarkets. They help in many places. For example, libraries use them to track (追踪) books and hospitals scan them to give patients the right medicine. a QR code Now we have even smarter codes called QR codes. They can store much more information. To see them, you need a mobile phone to scan! The future of QR codes looks even more exciting. Companies are working on “dynamic (动态的) QR codes” that can change their information at any time. Some new QR codes can even work without an Internet connection. From their beginning in 1948 to today, barcodes show how a simple idea can make life easier. The smart codes save us time every day when we shop and they keep getting better. The next time you hear that “beep”, remember—those little pictures are working hard for you! 1.When did the engineers make the first barcode? A. In 1926. B. In 1948. C. In 1974. D. In 1977. 2.According to the passage, why are barcodes useful for store workers? A. Because they make no mistakes. B. Because they work without stopping. C. Because they tell what products are in stock. D. Because they can help to sell more products. 3.What’s the main idea (主旨) of the passage? A. Barcodes are very easy and cheap to use. B. Smart codes are useful and getting better. C. Dynamic codes will be more useful and important. D. QR codes will take the place of (代替) barcodes. 主题语境02 人与社会-节日 (25-26七上·北京第十三中学分校·期中)People celebrate festivals all around the world. Festivals come from different things, such as the seasons of the year, famous people, and important events (事件) in history. Every festival has its own ways to celebrate and special beauty. However, no matter how different they are, all over the world, people share the same feeling of joy, thankfulness or love during festivals. Of all the traditional festivals, the harvest (丰收) festival is found in almost every country. This important farming festival happens after people pick all the crops (作物). People celebrate to show they are thankful for the year’s food. In old Egypt, the harvest festival was in spring—the Egyptian harvest time. People had a big meal with music, dancing, and sports. Today, in some European countries, people decorate (装饰) buildings and town halls with flowers and fruit, and enjoy a meal together. During the Mid-Autumn Festival in China, families sit together to look at the bright moon and eat delicious moon cakes. Customs play an important part in festivals, but sometimes they can change over time for different reasons. For example, lighting firecrackers (鞭炮) was once a custom during the Chinese Spring Festival. People set off firecrackers to drive away bad luck and celebrate the new year. Today, many big cities have stopped lighting fireworks to prevent air pollution (污染). Festivals are becoming more and more about business, as shops use them to sell more things. Online shopping and apps make it easier for people to spend money on gifts for family and friends. Some people think we shouldn’t use festivals for business, but others believe that spending more helps the economy (经济) and makes people happy. Festivals are an important part of our lives. They show what people hope for and believe in, and how they feel about life. Festivals give us time to rest, have fun, and forget about work. They help us know where we come from, who we are, and what we should be thankful for. And if you look closely at festivals, you may be surprised to see that different cultures are not so different after all. 1.What do all festivals have in common (共同)? A. They are all in spring. B. They are all about famous people. C. They all have the same food. D. They all share some good feelings. 2.What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us? A. The harvest festival is important in almost all countries. B. Chinese people like to celebrate festivals with moon cakes. C. There are many kinds of traditional festivals in the world. D. People in the old times often had family meals on festivals. 3.Which statement (陈述) may the writer agree with? A. People should not change the customs. B. Shopping is better than enjoying festivals. C. Festivals can help people enjoy their life. D. We shouldn’t set off fireworks in festivals. 主题语境03 人与社会-通讯与媒体 Passage 1 (25-26七上·北京东直门中学·期中)Nowadays many people look for fun online. Those colorful bottles have become a common sight in stores and teenagers’ backpacks. They promise to “boost (提升) your energy” and “help you focus (集中注意力)”. Energy drinks usually contain caffeine, sugar, vitamins, and other ingredients like taurine or guarana. The name “energy drink” comes from their ability to make people feel more awake and focused. In other words, they can boost your energy, at least for a short time. Energy drinks are especially popular among teenagers and young adults. Many students drink them to stay focused while studying, and players use them to improve performance in sports. Although energy drinks are popular, they can be harmful. High levels of caffeine and sugar can cause sleep problems, nervousness, and even heart problems. A 2024 study found that about a third of children aged 12 to 17 drink energy drinks regularly, which may lead to higher levels of anxiety and stress. Health experts warn that these drinks are not safe for children and teenagers. Some health organizations are calling for stricter rules, such as banning (禁止) the sale of energy drinks to people under 18. Schools and health groups also encourage young people to choose healthier ways to stay energized, like getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet. If your family has a routine, it can help you know what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and how often to do it. Routines also show what is important to your family. They can help you in many ways. First, routines help you know what will happen each day. This makes you feel safe and relaxed at home. When things happen in the same way every day, you don’t have to worry about what is coming next. And when you feel less worried, your body can be healthier. It also makes it easier for you to face big changes, such as being sick or moving somewhere new. Fun and family time in routines help you feel close to your family and make your family stronger. For example, you might do some exercise together every morning, eat dinner together or read a story with your family before bed. These small moments help you feel loved. Doing housework as part of your daily life can make you feel helpful. You can also learn simple life skills (技能), like how to use your time well. These are things that will help you when you grow up. When you can do housework without much help, you also learn to take care of yourself better. Routines can also help you build good habits (习惯), like brushing your teeth, taking medicine on time, or washing your hands after using the toilet. These small things are good for your health. For example, if you wash your hands often, you may not get sick as easily. So if your family has a routine, try your best to follow it. It can help you feel ready for the day, stay healthy, and get along better with your family. A good routine is not boring—it gives you time to grow, learn, and enjoy life with the people you love. 1.Fun and family time in routines help ________. A. parents finish work early B. children do better at school C. family members feel closer D. children spend more time online 2.Doing housework as part of the routine can ________. When planning a study space, understanding the effects (效果) of colors is important. Research by Kwallek shows that blue can help us think and learn better. Using blue in a study space can help us relax and stay focused for a longer time. Red can help us focus on details (细节). A study by Elliot found that red can help us do better on tasks that need attention to details. Too much red can feel like a lot, but adding this color in study places in a smart way, like having some red flowers, can help people focus better. Green, as the color of nature, has a relaxing effect. Adding plants to your study space can create (创造) a peaceful mind, leading to a more enjoyable and effective studying experience. The color yellow helps us become more innovative. A study by Hemphill found that yellow can help us think up new ideas. Adding yellow in a study place can encourage our new thinking. However, too much yellow may make you feel uncomfortable. Right use of colors in different sections of a study space can make a difference. For example, calming colors like blue or green can be used in relaxation corners, while brighter colors like yellow or red can be used in active study sections. The effects of colors are also connected (联系) to lighting in a study place. Research by Fotios highlights that both color and lighting are important for eye comfort. We’d better use natural light and well-designed lighting that are friendly to eyes. While research shows that colors can influence us, personal likes are important too. The best study space is one that matches personal tastes. Alison prefers pink and green for her study area. She believes these colors give a sense of sweetness and help her focus better while studying. She painted the walls a light pink and added green plants for a touch of nature. By choosing colors that match her tastes, Alison created a comfortable space that can improve her learning experience. To design an effective study place, it’s important to think about personal likes, lighting, and color effects in different sections. 1.Which of the following colors can help us focus on details? A. Blue. B. Red. C. Green. D. Yellow. 2.The word “innovative” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________. A. creative B. active C. special D. beautiful 3.The writer probably agrees that ________. A. blue can bring more relaxation than green B. more colors should be used in a study place C. color effects can influence our personal tastes D. color effects have something to do with lighting 4.What is the writer’s main purpose (目的) in writing this passage? A. To introduce some studies on color effects. B. To help us solve home designing problems. C. To suggest how to choose colors for a study space. D. To show the connection between colors and health. 主题语境01 人与社会-科普知识与现代技术 Passage 1 (25-26七上·北京铁路第二中学·期中)Let’s play a little game. Clear your mind. Go ahead. Clear it. OK, now, try not to picture a white bear. Failed (失败)? OK, let’s try again. Now do the countdown from three. Three, two, one! Oh no! White bear again! If you’re having trouble with this, don’t worry. You’re not alone. In fact, the harder you try not to think of something, the more you end up thinking about it. It has a name, called Ironic Process Theory. Social psychologist (社会心理学家) Daniel Wegner first studied it in 1987. The theory (理论) tells people “thought control has the opposite (相反的) effect on behaviors (行为).” So, if you’ve ever told yourself again and again not to play computer games or not to eat too much ice-cream, I’m sure this comes as no surprise. So it almost makes sure that your hard work to change bad habits by resisting (抵抗) will fail. A famous psychologist Carl Jung said, “What you resist not only keeps staying there but will grow in size.” If resisting the bad habits is not only useless but harmful, then what should you do instead? One way is to change what you want on your own brain. It goes like this: when you want to do something that you shouldn’t do, don’t resist. Instead, replace. Let me give you an example. My friend Jack had a strong habit that he tried to break—he couldn’t stop eating junk food. He fought with it for years using the “resist, resist, resist” way with results we can only guess at. Finally, he decided to try something different. Every time he felt that want, instead of trying to fight with it, he replaced the want with a drink of water! After a while, he found that the want slowly started to disappear (消失), until he forgot that it was ever even a thing. I love this amazing idea! Getting a drink is just one choice: You could also try peeling an orange, going outside, doing a push-up, taking a walk... You could try whatever works for you. It doesn’t matter what you do. Instead of resisting the behavior, just do something else. 1.Why does the writer talk about a little game at the beginning? A. To show how to play a game. B. To test readers’ math skill. C. To introduce a theory. D. To help readers to relax. 2.What can we learn from Ironic Process Theory? A. It helps people solve their problems easily. B. Hard work to resist bad habits is very useful. C. It tells people where their trouble comes from. D. Bad habits get stronger when people resist them. 3.What is “Jack’s want” in the passage? A. Eating junk food. B. Eating ice-cream. C. Picturing a white bear. D. Drinking some water. Passage 2 (25-26七上·北京汇文中学·期中) ①It’s unclear whether napping is good for everyone, but research suggests, napping, a short-time sleep, can improve some people’s overall performance (表现) in the short term. And if people nap regularly (有规律地) at midday, it might also have longer-term benefits (益处) to health. ②For one thing, several studies find that a short-time sleep is good for brain to work well. A 2021 study in Science Advances finds that napping is able to improve reaction (反应) time and memory performance. A short nap can also help with creativity (创造力) . ③These benefits of napping are the strongest for people who don’t get enough nighttime sleep. A 2014 review of research says when night-time workers, new parents and older people with little nighttime sleep take a nap during night-time work, they feel less sleepy and have better overall performance. ④However, some people may feel tired after napping. That’s because they don’t time their naps right. Then how long is a well-timed short sleep? A 20-minute nap is useful, the psychologist Dautovich says, and 60 to 90 minutes of sleep can be even more helpful. However, when people sleep for more than 20 minutes and less than 60 minutes, they will feel tired easily. ⑤For another, regular short naps also seem to improve brain health in the long term, Garfield and her colleagues at University College London find. People with regular napping genes (基因) have a larger brain volume (大脑容量) . All brains lose volume as they age, Garfield says, but taking a nap regularly is able to help slow down your aging for 2. 6 to 6. 5 years. ⑥Of course, not everyone can nap, Garfield says. And there are other healthy habits that could fill 20 minutes a day, such as going on a walk or going to the gym. But if it can fit in your timetable and you are also willing to try, napping will definitely reward you in many ways. 1.From a 2021 study in Science Advances, napping can help to improve _________. A. reaction time and creativity B. sports skills and brain volume C. brain volume and napping genes D. sports and memory performance 2.According to Dautovich, which is a well-timed nap? A. A 25-minute nap. B. A 45-minute nap. C. A 70-minute nap. D. A 120-minute nap. 3.The writer probably agrees that _________. A. people are tired but more creative after a long night’s sleep B. regular naps help save brain volume and slow down aging C. night-time workers feel sleepy after taking a well-timed nap D. taking a short-time nap regularly is a better habit than walking 4.What’s the layout (结构) of the passage? A. B. C. D. 主题语境02 人与自我-学习/语言 (25-26七上·北京二中·期中)Why hobbies are great for learning English Learning English can seem difficult. But imagine if you could turn this challenging task into a fun activity. Teachers believe that connecting English learning with hobbies can help. Let’s explore how hobbies make English learning more interesting. First, hobbies help us learn new words. When you do something you love, you come across words related to that hobby. For example, if you like cooking, words like “simmer”, “sauté” and “fried” become part of your own common vocabulary. This helps enhance (增强) your English vocabulary as you introduce yourself to more words in an enjoyable context. You find it easier to remember them. Second, hobbies encourage us to read and write more in English. For example, if you are a photography lover, you may read different kinds of photography blogs, reviews and introductions written in English. This reading practice can help improve your comprehension skills. Similarly, you might also want to share your own photography experiences or techniques with people from different cultures. So you could write them down in English on social media. Such writing activities enrich your sentence construction, grammar and spelling. Third, hobbies can help us talk more in English. For example, if football is your hobby, you could find yourself in the conversation with other football lovers from different countries. Such communications can improve your spoken English pronunciation and listening skills. In conclusion, hobbies surely make English learning more enjoyable and effective (有效的). They change your vocabulary, encourage reading and writing and promote useful conversations in English. By making English learning more interesting, hobbies can help us know better. Remember, we can learn language even outside classrooms. With hobbies mixed with learning, English can be more fun to learn. 1.What do teachers believe can make English learning more interesting according to the passage? A. 【答案】1. A 2. C 3. C. 【答案】1. C 2. D 3. A 【解析】【导语】 本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了社会心理学家的一个理论——讽刺进程理论,这个理论告诉我们,我们内心想抵制的东西不仅会一直存在,而且会越来越强大,因此不能强行去抵制。 (1)题解析: 细节理解题。根据开头的小游戏后的“It has a name, called Ironic Process Theory.”可知,提出开头的小游戏是为了引出这个理论。故选C。 (2)题解析: 细节理解题。根据游戏后的第二段“The theory (理论) tells people ‘thought control has the opposite (相反的) effect on behaviors (行为).’”可知,当人们抵制坏习惯时,坏习惯会变得更强。故选D。 (3)题解析: 推理判断题。根据“My friend Jack had a strong habit that he tried to break—he couldn’t stop eating junk food.”可知,“Jack’s want”指的是吃垃圾食品。故选A。 Passage 2 (25-26七上·北京汇文中学·期中) ①It’s unclear whether napping is good for everyone, but research suggests, napping, a short-time sleep, can improve some people’s overall performance (表现) in the short term.
