But the donkey didn’t believe the cat’s words. He decided to take a look at the picture himself. When he looked in the mirror, all he could see was a donkey. He quickly went back and told the others that the cat had lied. The lion was surprised, so he went to have a look too. But when he came back, he said there was a lion in the “hole”.

Nowadays, there are more and more e-books. We can use digital devices (设备) to read e-books. It’s not difficult to get e-books. We can find a lot of e-books easily on the Internet. Are e-books better than paper books? It’s hard to answer this question. But there was a study showing paper books were better than e-books.
Some researchers studied how 37 pairs of parents and children talked with each other while reading e-books and printed books. Researchers gave parents some kinds of books. These were printed books, e-books, and e-books with pictures and sound effects. They found parents and children talked to each other less when they read e-books. Parents asked fewer questions and made fewer comments about the e-books. When they read printed books, parents and children talked more.
A researcher found out an interesting fact. He said parents and children talked more about the device and the technology than about the story. Children often said some words like “I’d like to watch that cartoon” or “don’t turn it down”. Parents often said, “Don’t push that button (按钮).” They seldom talked about the story.
Therefore, the researchers said paper books were better than e-books. And they encouraged parents to buy more paper books and read them to their children.
46. Who did the researchers study?
A. 37 children only. B. 37 teachers and 37 students

Great news for nature! The number of Baer’s pochards (青头潜鸭) in China has risen from 1,000 in 2012 to over 2,500 now. These ducks have dark green heads and red eyes, and they are one of the world’s most endangered animals.
In the past, they lived all over East and Southeast Asia. But in the 1900s, people hunted them and they lost their homes, so they almost died out. Today, over 80% of these ducks spend the winter in China. Scientists studied 212 places in 21 Chinese provinces and found that most of the ducks live in 16 important areas, each with at least 30 ducks. Surprisingly, they love small, old fish ponds (池塘) with lots of plants and medium-sized lakes.
People in our country have tried hard to save these ducks. They protected bird flying routes (路线) and improved damaged wetlands (受损湿地). Local people also helped by guarding duck nests and cleaning their living areas. Scientists even put special collars (项圈) on some ducks to learn more about them.
One of the workers said, “We will keep on doing what we are doing. Besides, we will encourage more people to care.” Thanks to these actions, the ducks are increasing in number instead of dying out. We need to remember that protecting nature can stop endangered animals from dying out. Let’s hope these special ducks keep doing well!
49. What can we learn about Baer’s pochards from the text?
①Their appearance ②Their past living places ③Their role in the ecosystem ④Why they were in danger

A. To teach us how to save Baer’s pochards.

阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题 (请注意每小题的词数要求)。
Long ago, the cold winter was coming. All the birds flew south except one little bird. He could not fly with a broken wing.
“I will ask the trees in the forest if they can keep me warm in the cold winter,” he said.
He first met a tall birch (桦树). He sang, “Will you allow me to stay warm in your branches (树枝) during the cold winter?”
“Of course not!” the birch tree said. “I have to take care of my branches.” The little bird continued asking other trees but they didn’t agree.
The poor little bird kept jumping with his broken wing. The fir tree (冷杉) saw him and said, “Come here, little bird. You may spend the winter in my branches.”
The pine tree (松树) nearby said, “I will use my branches to keep the wind away. You may eat my seeds. They are good food for birds.” The little bird was very comfortable in his warm house, protected from the cold wind and with seeds to eat.

That night, the king said, “North Wind, it’s time to start winter. Blow the leaves from trees except those helping the bird with the broken wing. They may keep their leaves even in winter. I want to make them know: ________________________________53________________________________”
