专题04 阅读理解(记叙文) 主题01 人与社会 Passage 1 (25-26九上·重庆重点中学江津二中联盟十校联考·期中) The word “zhiyin”, which means close friends, comes from the story of Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi in the Warring States Period. Boya was good at playing the guqin. One day, he was playing music on his way home on the boat. To Boya’s surprise, Ziqi, a woodcutter who happened to pass by, could understand exactly what he wanted to express through his music. After a long talk, they became good friends. Since Boya had to return to his state, they agreed to meet again in the following year. Unfortunately, when getting back to visit Ziqi, Boya heard that his friend had died from a disease (疾病). Boya was so sad and in front of Ziqi’s tomb (墓), he played again the music he had played when they first met. The feeling of the music was so strong that it was as if the rivers and the mountains were crying. When finishing playing, Boya broke his guqin into pieces. From then on, Boya never played again. Rebecca Sharrock, 25, is one of just 80 people worldwide who have been identified (确定) as having Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM,超级自传体记忆症). I remember every day since then. I can’t tell all the dates exactly because I was too young to understand calendars, but I remember what I did that very day, what the weather was like and so on.” Rebecca can also re-experience taste. If she’s eating something that she doesn’t like, she thinks about Black Forest cake, her favorite food, and the memory will be so strong that she can nearly “taste” it. However, ▲. My family moved often. The move started even before I could clearly remember, on Paulina Street. Then we lived on Keeler Street, and later, we stayed on the third floor of a building on Loomis Street. Once, an old lady asked where I lived. I pointed to our apartment. Her surprised “You live there?” left me completely embarrassed. Right then, I understood why my parents dreamed of a real house. Life on Loomis Street was tough. The water pipes broke, and our landlord (房东) refused to fix them. We had to use our neighbor’s bathroom and carry water in milk gallons (牛奶桶). That’s why we left in a hurry. Mama and Papa looked for a house, and we moved into the house on Mango Street, far away, on the other side of town. At present, we live on Mango Street. The house is ours—we don’t have to pay rent to anybody, or share the yard with the people down stairs, or be careful not to make too much noise, and there isn’t a landlord troubling. But even so, it’s not the one we have dreamed of because it’s a small red house with broken bricks and a small backyard. Mommy sighs (叹气) at the small kitchen sink because it drips (滴水) all the time, though she admits at least we don’t need to line up at the public faucet (水龙头) like before. Mama and Papa always tell us that one day we will move into a real house which will be ours forever, with running water, a basement, at least three bathrooms, and a big yard. It was what Papa talked about with a lottery ticket (彩票), Mama dreamed up in our bedtime stories and what I hoped to point to with pride one day. Mama and Papa say this red house is temporary. “Just for now,” they say. But I have a feeling that we might be here for a long long time. —Adapted from The House on Mango Street 24.Which sentence uses “rent” with the same meaning as the underlined word in paragraph 4? rent /rent/ n. ①租金 ②裂痕 v. ①出租 ②裂开 A.A deep rent in the rock allowed us to climb up. You will probably throw them all into one rubbish bin. But actually, we need to sort (分类) all the rubbish separately. If you don’t sort your rubbish, all of it will go to a special place where it is buried (埋藏) together. As a result, it will take up some fields. Some rubbish will pollute the groundwater. Some rubbish that can be reused will be wasted. In recent years, some Chinese cities have been working hard on rubbish sorting. However, his invention has changed our lives. In 2017, he won the Turing Award (图灵奖) for inventing the World Wide Web. He was born in London, England in 1955. When he was a small boy, Tim was interested in playing with electrical things. He studied science at Oxford University. He made his first computer from an old television at the age of 21. Tim started working on early computers. At that time, they were much bigger than now. He worked in England and then Switzerland. Tim was really interested in two things, computers and how the brain works. How could the brain connect so many facts so quickly? He had to work with people all over the world. They shared information about computers. It was hard to manage all the information. He answered the same questions again and again. It took a lot of time. It was even difficult for computers in the same office in Switzerland to share information. Tim also forgot things easily. Could a computer work like a brain? Could it “talk” to other computers? There was an Internet already but it was difficult to use. In 1989, Tim Berners Lee invented the World Wide Web (WWW) all by himself. This had a special language that helped computers talk to each other on the Internet. When people wanted to share information with others. they used the World Wide Web. The Internet grew quickly after that. Tim Berners-Lee doesn’t think he did anything special. He says that all of the ideas about the Internet were already there. All he did was to put them together. He says that many other people worked together to make the Internet what it is today. Most inventors want to become rich. But Tim gave away the World Wide Web for nothing. He now works in America. He helps people share technology and wants the Internet to be free for everyone to use. Maybe he is the most important but least famous inventor in the world today! 48.When Tim Berners-Lee was a little boy, he was interested in ________. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone’s face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn’t going to be another normal day, but a special one. “Please calm down and sit,” said Mr. Johnson. “I’m glad everyone’s here for the final reading test of the year.” When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. “You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your bags,” he added gently. As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh happily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, “When is break time?” Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, “Break time starts…now!” Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door. “Mr. Johnson!” she cried out. A moment of silence fell over the room as we thought, “Mr. Johnson might be in trouble.” However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn’t help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break. During the break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him! This public-spirited young person was now a university student. His love for insects grew deeper and he was going to protect them for the future. ________. When he was around 4 or 5, he always loved to watch different insects, especially beautiful swallowtails (凤蝶). One interesting fact he learned about swallowtails was that their bright colors warned hungry animals that they tasted bad. And it was also fun to watch how they came into being. But the reason he really fell in love with them was that they were very accessible. For example, if you wanted to attract (吸引) swallowtails, you could plant some zinnias, a kind of bright flower. Bert started a zinnia garden at his house, where he raised a large number of swallowtails over the years. With the world’s swallowtail population falling, Bert wanted people to realize that if insects like swallowtails disappeared, so would all the others above them on the food chain. To make the fact clear and easy to understand for other students, he also created a zinnia garden at his junior high school. Part of the joy for Bert was watching the younger students get excited when running after swallowtails. “Whenever a swallowtail lands on them, the young students will soon fall in love with these cute insects. They develop a new appreciation (欣赏) for them.” he said. Bert put his efforts into the environmental educational project and made it take flight. 32.After Bert won the national prize called Young Heroes, ________. Shanghai has called on all the people living in this city to sort their rubbish into four groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry. Wet waste is known as household waste. They are things you don’t want but pigs can eat. Paper, metal, glass, plastic and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste. Harmful waste includes thins like medicine, batteries. Finally, any waste that is not wet, recyclable or harmful will go to the “dry waste” bin. Many other Chinese cities are also using this way to sort their rubbish. For example, Deyang has been sorting its rubbish into the same four groups since several years ago. Students in Deyang have already received waste-sorting guidebooks. They have studied these books and known how to sort the rubbish. China is now improving its waste-sorting efforts. There is still a long way to go. But it’s never too late to learn how to sort your rubbish rightly. We should take an active part in it. 36.How many bad results will there be if all the rubbish is buried together? A.Two. B.Three.
