At a school in Southern California, teens and their grandmas came together to join a programme called Learn with Grandmas every Friday. The grandmas taught the children practical skills like cooking. This programme not only helped fight loneliness in seniors, but also gave kids knowledge they can’t always get in school. More than just learning skills, the organizers built a friendly bridge between different ages, showing that everyone has something valuable to share.

The Feynman Technique(费曼学习法) was developed by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman. It’s a study method that helps students learn by teaching others. Have you ever tried this kind of method when studying?
The Feynman Technique has been one of the most effective study methods for many years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just memorizing information. What’s more, unlike traditional study methods like rereading textbooks or reviewing notes, it pushes students to be more actively involved in the learning process.
★. To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn, including sub-topics(子主题). If not, you’ll end up jumping between topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them.
Secondly, it is the heart of the Feynman Technique that you can explain the topic simply enough to be understood by a sixth-grade student. This requires you to help the child understand by using the simplest and clearest language possible. This step helps divide indigestible topics into their most basic parts.
Thirdly, review your explanation and try to find any area where you felt that you couldn’t explain the topic simply. When possible, it can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grader, such as your best friend.
You can improve your explanation by using the information collected from the third step. Finally, repeat the steps. The Feynman Technique works best with repetition, and that is why going through all the steps just once is usually not enough to fully understand the topic. Once you’re confident that you’ve learned the topic, it’s time to give yourself a prize. Perhaps, like me, enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
( )61. The question sentence in Paragraph 1 aims to _________.
A. tell a new story B. report the result C. lead in the topic D. support the idea

D. Who developed the method?
( )63. Which of the following can be put in ★ ?
A.You must choose a proper topic and sub-topics
B. You can explain the concept in simple terms
C. It is best to review and refine your explanation
D. If you want to use the method to study better, follow these steps
( )64. Who can you get suggestions from according to the third step?
A. Your parents. B. Your teachers. C. A 12-year-old girl. D. An expert in learning.
( )65. Which picture would show the heart of the Feynman Technique?

I had classes twice a week for two years but I didn't do it very well! I decided it was best to learn from someone who really knows the language. I asked a Chinese student in my class to teach me. He and I often sat in parks and read stories in Chinese. After that I went to Shanghai. I thought it was best not to be with people who spoke English. But I had a terrible time trying to speak Chinese even in shops and in the family I stayed with. The people who I talked to in Chinese were mainly aged six years old or younger. I think it was because I didn't have enough grammar and vocabulary! I kept trying but all the adults knew that their English was really better than my Chinese!

I Have Changed a Lot!
Time flies, and I've changed a lot over the past three years. I used to be lazy and hate reading. I would spend most of my free time playing games, which made my grades drop. Later, I developed the habit of reading for 30 minutes every day.
To stick to it, I set a small alarm and kept a fun book on the table. I also rewarded myself with a snack after finishing a book.
Now reading has opened my eyes. I learn much new knowledge from it and become more patient. My grades have improved too. I truly believe small good habits can lead to big changes.
