(25-26八上·海南白沙黎族自治县·期中)True friendship is a really important and beautiful thing in our lives. It’s not just about having fun together, going to the movies or eating delicious food. And it’s not just about giving each other expensive gifts, either.
True friends will always be there for you when you are in trouble. For example, if you don’t do well in a test and you feel sad, a true friend will come to you right away. They will sit beside you and say kind words. Then they might study with you, help you solve the difficult problems, and make a study plan for you.
Also, true friends will listen carefully when you share your happiness and sadness. When you tell them that you won a prize in a school competition, they will feel happy for you. When you talk about how you argued with your parents and feel sad, they will listen carefully and give you good advice on it. They will always keep your secrets and never tell anyone else.
Even if you live far away from each other and you might not see each other often, when you meet again or talk on the phone, it will still feel like you are together all the time. Your friendship will stay strong because of understanding each other, trusting (信任) each other, and always being willing to help each other.

(25-26八上·海南乐东黎族自治县·期中)Whether you’ve noticed it or not, fewer and fewer bees are around us now. About one quarter of the world’s 20,000 bee species (物种) have disappeared since 1990.
There are many reasons for that, including too much use of pesticides (杀虫剂),loss of plants and human activities that damage (破坏) their living places. But the main reason is the weather conditions, which are changing the bees’ living environment in a faster way than they are able to get used to.
A map of where bees live across the world was just made by scientists from China and the US. To help people know about bees and protect them better, they tried to find out different species of bees in different areas. According to the map, there are more species of bees in the north half than in the south half of the earth, and more in dry warm areas than in wet forest areas.
In fact, bees are important contributors to humans and the whole world. When bees are flying from one place to another, they are helping many plants to pollinate. In other words, without bees, fresh fruit and vegetables would be fewer and fewer around the world. Therefore, we humans should make our efforts to protect bees.
As for what to do to help, plant some plants to attract bees to your garden. If you see bees around you, take some photos and post them on the Internet, so scientists can help find out where bees live and how bees move. We can come up with more ideas to save bee species around the world.

Passage 1
(25-26八上·海南海口11校·期中)Many students think confidence is about saying “I’m great!” loudly. But real confidence is not like that. It’s not about shouting “I’m perfect” every day. That kind of confidence is weak, just like a paper boat—it can be easily broken when you make mistakes.
True confidence comes from accepting yourself, even your weak points. Life is full of ups and downs. Everyone makes mistakes and feels unsure sometimes. Real confidence allows you to say “I can’t do this now” without feeling sad. It helps you stand up when you fall down.
We often want to be excellent and successful. We have a way to judge things in our minds, thinking about good or bad, right or wrong. This makes us afraid—afraid of not being good enough, afraid of failing. These fears take away our confidence.
People who have long-time confidence live freely. They don’t need others to say they are good. They don’t have strict rules like “I must be the best”. They stay calm when they succeed and don’t feel bad when they fail.
So, to have strong confidence, give up the idea that “I must be excellent”. It’s okay to make mistakes. Rest when you are tired and try again when you are ready. True confidence grows when you believe in yourself, no matter what happens.
1.What does the weak kind of confidence (like saying “I’m perfect” loudly) compare to?
A. A strong stone. B. A paper boat. C. A flying leaf.
2.What does the phrase “ups and downs” probably mean in the sentence “Life is full of ups and downs” in Paragraph 2?
A. Times of success and times of difficulty.
B. The change between day and night.
C. Feelings of happiness and sadness.
3.What can we infer about people who easily lose confidence from Paragraph 3?
A. They are always willing to face failures and learn from them.
B. They usually don’t care about whether their actions are right or wrong.
C. They may often judge things as good or bad and worry about being not good enough.
4.People who have ________ live freely.
A. long-time confidence
B. others’ praise
C. strict rules for themselves
5.Which of the following is the purpose of writing this passage?
A. To teach readers to avoid life mistakes and keep confidence.
B. To correct wrong confidence views, explain what true confidence is and how to develop it.
C. To compare confidence between successful and ordinary people.
Passage 2
(25-26八上·海南农垦中学·期中)Are you an “I” person or an “E” person? People often talk about it online. The ideas come from a popular personality test called MBTI. They test the personality in eight ways. Each way uses a letter to show the meaning. For example, the letter “I” means you are shy and the letter “E” means you are outgoing. After the test each person will get a four-letter result to show the per- sonality. In all, there are sixteen kinds of personalities in the test.
Why do people want to take the MBTI test? Here are the survey (调查) results.
“People want to learn about themselves and others,” Guo Yongyuan, an expert said. “When they know themselves and others better, they can learn to be with others. That helps them feel more relaxed.”
Gao Yanyi, a middle school student from Shanxi, thinks that the MBTI test can help her find friends with similar MBTI results with her quickly. “But that should not be the only way to find friends. Sometimes it could make me lose possible good friends with different kinds of MBTI,” she adds.
Ma Ruina, from Beijing No.4 Middle School, took the test once. It made him feel like it’s limiting (限制) how people can be, as if there were only 16 kinds of people in the world. “Everyone is unique, and it’s not right to put people into simple groups.”
It can be sure that sixteen kinds of MBTI personalities can never tell all the possibilities (可能性). I have to say, the personality test is just for fun. Don’t let the test tell you who you are.

A. A letter game.

(25-26八上·海南万宁某校·期中)Typhoons are some of the worst storms, usually around the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. They mostly happen in July, August and September.
How does a typhoon happen? When lots of sea water gets hot in the summer sun, it evaporates into the air. This makes the air hotter. When the air gets warm enough, it starts to move higher up into the sky. Then, cooler air around it rushes in. It fills the space that is left. After the air gets warmer, it starts to move quickly, making wind. The wind goes in circles, and it keeps moving higher in the sky. The warmer the air gets, the quicker the wind moves. And when the wind moves faster than 30 metres a second, a typhoon begins.
A typhoon has two parts. One is called the “eye”. In the eye, the wind doesn’t move so fast. The other part is the wall of clouds around the eye. This is where the strongest winds and hardest rains are.
Typhoons are very dangerous. In 2004, Typhoon Yunna killed 164 people in Zhejiang and 24 people were missing. In 2024, Typhoon Mojie landed on Haikou, Hainan, thousands of houses and buildings were damaged.

Have you heard of dazi? Have you ever found a dazi? These days, finding a dazi is becoming popular among Chinese young people. A dazi is a person we eat with, study with, exercise with or take a trip with, but we haven’t known him or her before.

Passage 1
(25-26八上·海南西南大学东方实验中学·期中)Imagine you take a picture of your favourite sweater. Then imagine a smart robot (智能机器人) looks at the picture and makes the same sweater! Sounds like magic, right? But it’s actually something that is really close to coming true!
Some researchers in Canada have made a special robot. This robot uses AI to look at pictures of knitted (编织) clothes and recreate the same patterns (还原图案)! Even better, the robot can do it all by itself. First, it looks at the picture of a sweater and draws a simple sketch (草图) of the pattern. Then, it turns that sketch into knitting steps that it can follow. It’s like giving the robot a recipe to make soup, but instead, this one knits sweaters!
People tested the robot with 5,000 pictures. And you know what? It got the patterns right more than 97% of the time! It can even recreate difficult patterns with many colours.
This new robot could be a big help. In the future, it may help make clothes faster and at a lower cost. It might even help us bring back old, special patterns from history.
But there’s a problem, too. Many people around the world work in knitting jobs. If robots do the work, those people might lose (失去) their jobs. That could be a big problem.
Let’s hope that scientists make the robots even better in the future, while also thinking about how to help people whose jobs may change.

1.Which are the reasons for the drop of bee species?
a. Wide use of pesticides. b. Worse living places.

A. They are always willing to face failures and learn from them.

4.People who have ________ live freely.

Each way uses a letter to show the meaning. For example, the letter “I” means you are shy and the letter “E” means you are outgoing.
What can we do when a Typhoon hits?
Stay inside. Close all the windows and stay away from them.
Try to bring all of your things inside. Strong winds could even blow away your bikes.
Listen to the radio or TV for information.
