4. 能用 I am really interested in...、I have always dreamed of...
Unit 4 Space Exploration
Opening Page
The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but mankind cannot stay in the cradle forever.
Why do we explore space?
Because we are curious.
追问:Is curiosity enough to risk lives and billions of dollars?
学生:For science, I think.
追问:Then is it worth it? Listen for the sentence after “However”.
(1)explore /ɪkˈsplɔː(r)/ v. China has been exploring the far side of the Moon since 2019.
【错误路径】易误写 exploration——its first ______ 填名词,has been ______ space 填 -ing。
(2)universe /ˈjuːnɪvɜːs/ n. There are billions of galaxies in the universe.
(3)orbit /ˈɔːbɪt/ n. The satellite was put into orbit successfully.
The spacecraft ______ (orbit) the Earth...
(4)launch /lɔːntʃ/ v. & n. 考点:兼作名词,the launch of...。例句:The rocket was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre.
(5)satellite /ˈsætəlaɪt/ n. 考点:可数,常与 be sent into space、be put into orbit 搭配。例句:Weather satellites help us predict storms in advance.
【错误路径】误写 sent into the space;space 表“太空”零冠词,in space、go into space 同理。
(6)spacecraft /ˈspeɪskrɑːft/ n. 考点:单复同形,a spacecraft 与 two spacecraft 形式相同。 The spacecraft carried three astronauts into space.
(7)rocket /ˈrɒkɪt/ n. The rocket lifted off at exactly 10:00.
(8)astronaut /ˈæstrənɔːt/ n. Yang Liwei is China’s first astronaut to go into space.
(9)gravity /ˈɡrævəti/ n. Astronauts float in the spacecraft because of weightlessness.
【错误路径】误写 in the zero gravity;zero gravity 固定搭配、无冠词,in orbit、in space 同理。
(10)determined /dɪˈtɜːmɪnd/ adj. She is determined to overcome all difficulties to become an astronaut.
【错误路径】误写 a determination;不可数,用 great determination。
1. China is proud of its first ______ (explore) of the Moon, which began with the Chang’e 1 mission.
2. The satellite ______ (launch) into orbit last night.
3. A ______ is a vehicle that travels in space to carry out tasks, such as transporting astronauts or goods.
4. The Moon ______ the Earth once every 27 days.
5. A communication ______ helps send signals around the world.
6. The ______ lifted off at exactly 10:00.
7. The astronaut was sent to explore ______.
(1)表转折:but、however、yet、although、instead。
(2)表因果:because、so、that is why、due to、thanks to。
(3)表强调:the most important、remember、actually、in fact。
(4)表举例:for example、such as。
(5)表顺序:first、then、finally。
(1)teen 与 -ty:thirteen / thirty,fourteen / forty,fifteen / fifty,sixteen / sixty,seventeen / seventy,eighteen / eighty,nineteen / ninety。
1969 = nineteen sixty-nine;2021 = twenty twenty-one;20 July 1969 = the twentieth of July, nineteen sixty-nine。
(3)修正信息:听到 actually、no、rather than、not...but...
(4)约数:about、around、more than、less than、nearly、over。
(1)常见词:all、only、never、always、purely、completely、risk-free、impossible。
(2)应对:听到绝对化先找反证,重点看 but、however、some people think、scientists believe 后的信息。
纠正:however 后是 benefits are far greater,前文明确 costs too much money and brings too much risk,并非 risk-free。见到 only / purely / risk-free / no...at all,先去 however 后找反证。
I am really interested in...(我对……
I have always dreamed of...(我一直梦想着……)
I am curious about...(我对……
I would love to... one day(有一天我很想……)
I think exploring space is...(我认为探索太空是……)
In my opinion, it is...(在我看来,它……)
What attracts me most is...(最吸引我的是……)
I have always dreamed of being an astronaut. I am really interested in the universe. What attracts me most is whether there is life on other planets.
【前提说明】universe 为独一无二事物,必须加 the(the universe);astronaut 为可数单数,须加 an(an astronaut)。
1. I am interested in universe. → I am interested in the universe.
2. I dreamed of being astronaut. → I dreamed of being an astronaut.
3. I am curious about if there is life... → I am curious about whether there is life...
I think space exploration is worth the cost because it helps us understand the universe and protect our own planet.

On 20 July 1969, human beings took their first step on the Moon. Since then, space exploration has developed rapidly. Today, thousands of satellites circle the Earth, sending data back to scientists every day. Satellites help us predict weather, guide cars with GPS, and connect people around the world. In 2021, China launched the core module of its Tiangong space station, and Chinese astronauts have carried out many spacewalks. Some people think space exploration costs too much money and brings too much risk. However, scientists believe the benefits are far greater than the costs, because exploring space helps us understand the universe and protect our own planet.
1. When did human beings first step on the Moon?
A. In 1961. B. In 1969. C. In 2021.
2. What did China launch in 2021?
A. The core module of Tiangong. B. Shenzhou 5. C. A weather satellite.
3. What do some people think of space exploration?
A. It is purely scientific and risk-free.
B. It costs too much and brings too much risk.
C. It is not worth any money at all.
1. Human beings ______ their first step on the Moon in 1969.
2. Since then, satellites have been used to send ______ back to scientists.
3. In 2021, China launched the core module of its ______ space station.
What is the main idea of the passage? Answer in one sentence.
Do you think space exploration is worth the cost? 要求以 I think 或 In my opinion 开头。
I think space exploration is worth the cost because it helps us understand the universe and protect our own planet.
2. 【答案】was launched。
On 20 July 1969, human beings took their first step on the Moon。
2. 【答案】A。 In 2021, China launched the core module of its Tiangong space station。
Some people think space exploration costs too much money and brings too much risk。A、C 均为绝对化干扰(purely / risk-free / not...at all),原文未支持;B 为原文同义转述。
1. 【答案】took。【解析】原文 took their first step,一般过去时。
2. 【答案】data。【解析】原文 sending data back to scientists。
Space exploration has developed rapidly and brings great benefits, although it costs much and carries risks.
典型扣分点:漏掉 the universe 的 the、an astronaut 的 an,以及把 whether 误用为 if。
Space ______ (explore) is entering a new era. In 2020, China ______ (launch) Tianwen-1, which carried a probe to Mars. Now many man-made ______ (satellite) also help monitor deep-space missions from the Earth. The probe ______ (orbit) Mars in 2021, far away from the Earth’s strong ______ (gravity).
On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. In 2003, Yang Liwei orbited the Earth in Shenzhou 5. In 2019, China’s Chang’e 4 landed on the far side of the Moon.
1. Who became the first human in space?
A. Yang Liwei. B. Yuri Gagarin. C. Neil Armstrong.
2. When did Yang Liwei orbit the Earth?
A. In 1961. B. In 2003. C. In 2019.
3. Where did Chang’e 4 land?
A. On the near side of the Moon. B. On the far side of the Moon. C. On Mars.
4. 填空:Yang Liwei orbited the Earth in ______.
B 2. B 3. B 4. 2003
I think... / In my opinion... / What attracts me most is...
I think space exploration is worth the cost because it helps develop new technologies. In my opinion, the benefits are greater than the risks. What attracts me most is whether we can find a new home in the universe.
【解析】句型达标;universe 加 the;whether 引导从句,不用 if;未使用 only / never 等绝对化词。
Why do we explore space?
Words: explore / universe / orbit / launch / satellite / spacecraft / rocket / astronaut / gravity / determined
Listening: Predict → Keywords → Signals → Numbers / Absolutes
Speaking: I am really interested in... / I have always dreamed of... / I think...
Is curiosity enough? What else?
I am interested in universe. 纠正 the universe。

Opening Page
The Earth is the cradle of humanity, but mankind cannot stay in the cradle forever.

【错误路径】易误写 exploration——its first ______ 填名词,has been ______ space 填 -ing。请判断:its first ______ (explore) 填______;has been ______ space 填______。
【错误路径】误写 sent into the space;space 表“太空”零冠词,in space、go into space 同理。请判断:go into ______ space 填______。
(6)spacecraft /ˈspeɪskrɑːft/ n. 考点:单复同形,a spacecraft 与 two spacecraft 形式相同。 The spacecraft carried three astronauts into space.
(7)rocket /ˈrɒkɪt/ n. The rocket lifted off at exactly 10:00.
(8)astronaut /ˈæstrənɔːt/ n. Yang Liwei is China’s first astronaut to go into space.
(9)gravity /ˈɡrævəti/ n. Astronauts float in the spacecraft because of weightlessness.
【错误路径】误写 in the zero gravity;zero gravity 固定搭配、无冠词。请判断:in ______ gravity 填______。
(10)determined /dɪˈtɜːmɪnd/ adj. She is determined to overcome all difficulties to become an astronaut.
【错误路径】误写 a determination;不可数,用 great determination。请判断:with great ______ (determine) 填______。
1969 = nineteen sixty-nine;2021 = twenty twenty-one;20 July 1969 = the twentieth of July, nineteen sixty-nine。
(3)修正信息:听到 actually、no、rather than、not...but...
(4)约数:about、around、more than、less than、nearly、over。
(1)常见词:all、only、never、always、purely、completely、risk-free、impossible。
(2)应对:听到绝对化先找反证,重点看 but、however、some people think、scientists believe 后的信息。
纠正:however 后是 benefits are far greater,前文明确 costs too much money and brings too much risk,并非 risk-free。见到 only / purely / risk-free / no...at all,先去 however 后找反证。
I am really interested in...(我对……
I have always dreamed of...(我一直梦想着……)
I am curious about...(我对……
I would love to... one day(有一天我很想……)
I think exploring space is...(我认为探索太空是……)
In my opinion, it is...(在我看来,它……)
What attracts me most is...(最吸引我的是……)
【前提说明】universe 为独一无二事物,必须加 the(the universe);astronaut 为可数单数,须加 an(an astronaut)。
1. I am interested in universe. → 改正:______________________
2. I dreamed of being astronaut. → 改正:______________________
3. I am curious about if there is life... → 改正:______________________

I think... / In my opinion... / What attracts me most is...
____________________________________________________
____________________________________________________
____________________________________________________
____________________________________________________
Why do we explore space?
Words: explore / universe / orbit / launch / satellite / spacecraft / rocket / astronaut / gravity / determined
Listening: Predict → Keywords → Signals → Numbers / Absolutes
Speaking: I am really interested in... / I have always dreamed of... / I think...
Why do we explore space?
