Painting 2 — B (The Renaissance)
Painting 3 — D (Modern Art)
Painting 4 — A (The Middle Ages)
Task 4 Painting Appreciation
Open answer. A sample for The Last Supper:
It shows the last dinner between Jesus and his twelve disciples. It was painted by Leonardo da Vinci during the Renaissance. What impresses me most is the way Leonardo uses perspective to make the room look real and draw our eyes to Jesus. I think it was created to show an important religious moment and, at the same time, to express human emotion and realism — two key ideas of the Renaissance.
Task 5 Text Analysis
1. informative essay.
2. People who like art and paintings. We can tell because the passage gives facts about different periods and artists, uses clear but not too difficult language, and includes dates and names.
Part III Post-reading
Open answer. A possible definition:
Art is anything people make with skill to express feelings or tell a story. It is not just painting — music, dance, film, cooking, even a good building can be art if it moves you.
Part IV Self-check & Extension
1. Retelling: open answer. Make sure you cover the time, main features and artists for each period.
