After several years away, my father returned to the village where he grew up. I went with him. He told me many stories about an old stone bridge, so I was excited to see it.
When our bus arrived, a wide new bridge appeared in front of us. “Where is your bridge?” I asked. Dad smiled and pointed down the river. The stone bridge was still there, but cars no longer used it. The new bridge carried the traffic safely across the river.
We walked to the old bridge. A few people were taking photos, and an old man was sitting nearby. He recognized my father at once. They talked about school, fishing and the games they played by the river. I listened and took notes for my school project.
Later, we visited the village reading room. Beside the shelves, I noticed a board of handwritten stories. Some were about the stone bridge. Others described the first bus service and the village's first television. The villagers collected the stories so that children could understand life before they were born.
On our way home, Dad said, “The village looks different, but it still feels familiar.” I understood. The new bridge made travel easier, while the old bridge and the stories connected people with their past. Development did not have to remove their memories. It could give those memories a new place in daily life.
51. Why was the writer excited about visiting the village?
A. The writer wanted to see a bridge from Dad's stories.
B. The writer had won a fishing competition there.
C. The writer planned to buy a new television.
D. The writer wanted to learn how to drive a bus.
52. What is the new bridge used for?
A. Displaying old family photos. B. Carrying traffic across the river.
C. Providing shelves for village books. D. Teaching children how to fish.
53. What did the writer do while Dad talked with the old man?
A. Went fishing alone. B. Took a bus to the city.
C. Played a game on a phone. D. Listened and took notes.
54. Why did villagers collect the handwritten stories?
A. To sell them to tourists at high prices.
B. To persuade people to remove the old bridge.
C. To replace every book in the reading room.
D. To help children learn about earlier village life.
55. What does the writer learn from the visit?
A. A hometown is only a collection of buildings.
B. New bridges are less useful than old ones.
C. Old places should never change in any way.
D. Development can go together with keeping memories.
C
What sounds remind you of your hometown? Students at Bright School asked this question during a project. Instead of collecting photographs, they recorded sounds from their community.
First, they interviewed older residents. Mr. Wu remembered the bell of the bicycle repairman. Mrs. Zhang described people calling out the names of vegetables in the morning market. The students could not record all those past sounds, so they asked residents to describe them in their own voices.
Next, the students collected sounds they could hear today: the announcement(广播)at a bus stop, children playing in the square and the opening music of a community exercise class. Before recording a person's voice, they asked for permission. They never put private conversations into the collection.
Each recording had a title, a date and a short explanation. The students arranged the recordings into two groups: “Memories of the Past” and “Sounds of Today”. Visitors could choose a recording and read the explanation while listening.
The project helped the class notice changes that photographs might miss. A new bus-stop announcement could show improved transportation. Children's voices in the square could suggest new leisure spaces. Yet one sound remained in both groups: neighbors greeting each other warmly. For the students, that familiar kindness was as important as any new building.
56. What did the students collect for their project?
A. Tickets for different films. B. Old maps of foreign cities.
C. Sounds from their community. D. Prices of new smartphones.
57. How did they include sounds they could no longer hear?
A. They copied private phone conversations.
B. They removed all information about the past.
C. They guessed the sounds without asking anyone.
D. They recorded older residents describing them.
58. What did the students do before recording a person's voice?
A. Posted the recording online. B. Asked for permission.
C. Bought the person a phone. D. Changed the person's name.
59. What information did each recording have?
A. A map, a photo and a family name. B. A song, a video and a ticket.
C. A price, a number and an address. D. A title, a date and an explanation.
60. What stayed the same in the two groups of recordings?
A. The music from exercise classes. B. Neighbors' warm greetings.
C. The number of bus stops. D. The sound of every old market.
D
Our class read two reports about a newly opened leisure center. The first report said, “It has a swimming pool, two reading rooms and a hall. It opens six days a week.” The second said, “It is the best place in town. Everyone will love it.” Which report would help us understand the center better?
The first report mainly gave facts. We could visit the center or check its notice board to find out whether the information was true. The second report mainly gave opinions. “Best” expressed the writer's personal feeling. Different people could have different views. Someone who disliked swimming might prefer a quiet park.
This did not mean opinions were useless. A resident could say, “I like the new reading rooms because they give me a quiet place to study.” That opinion told us about a real need. It also explained why the resident felt that way.
Before sharing our own report, we visited the center and interviewed several people. We listed the opening hours and facilities(设施)as facts. We put people's comments in a separate part and used their names only with permission.
Now, when I read about a change, I ask two questions: What can I check? Whose view is this? Facts help us understand what has happened. Opinions help us explore what those changes mean to different people. A clear report gives room to both, but does not mix them up.
61. Which sentence from the reports gives a fact?
A. It opens six days a week. B. The center is more enjoyable than any park.
C. Everyone will love it. D. It is the best place in town.
62. Why is “best” an opinion word in this text?
A. It tells the exact opening time. B. It always describes a building's size.
C. It can only appear in official reports. D. It expresses a personal judgment.
63. Why does the writer include the resident's comment?
A. To show that an explained opinion can be useful.
B. To replace the center's opening notice.
C. To prove nobody likes the swimming pool.
D. To show that all opinions must be wrong.
64. How did the class organize its own report?
A. It put all comments into the opening hours section.
B. It separated checked information from people's views.
C. It removed all information about the facilities.
D. It used only the second report's words.
65. What is the best summary of the text?
A. Distinguish facts from opinions and use both clearly.
B. Ignore all opinions when reading reports.
C. Believe every positive comment about new places.
D. Choose leisure activities only by their prices.

Changes in Leisure Activities
People's leisure activities have changed a lot.
In my parents’ childhood, they often watched open-air movies. They usually visited parks near their homes and played chess or simple games with friends. Now I can go to the cinema or watch a film on a phone. My family can afford to travel to places far away. I can also join clubs and play different sports. I think we have more choices and can learn more from these activities. However, spending time with family and friends is still important because it brings us closer.
写作思路:围绕电影、出游、其他活动三个方面作过去与现在的对比;使用in the past、now、used to及现在完成时。观点须给出理由,可赞赏便利,也可谈珍惜面对面交流。
