Today was magical! At the Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park, I tried a special tour using VR technology (技术). It was the world’s first VR tour of Yuanmingyuan.
Thanks to today’s technology, the tour looks quite real, with everything the size of real ones. It shows what Yuanmingyuan is like through eight units. With light “glasses” on, I stepped into history excitedly, with the stones around me turning into a great palace—the “Garden of Gardens”! I could “walk” through famous Yuanmingyuan scenery like Jiuzhou Qingyan and Guanshuifa.
I joined in the immersive (沉浸式地) activity of “Qianlong’s Garden Tour”. Along the way, I saw the cute “Guardian Dragon” and completed fun activities such as collecting “Time Fragments”. This was unlike what other VR experiences could give. I really felt like walking in Yuanmingyuan seeing the beautiful lakes and trees.
From some workers there, I knew this project was from Daxiang Merged Media. And it is the opening work of “Chinese Cultural Heritage VR Large Space”. The creative team worked hard on the forty scenes of Yuanmingyuan.
After the trip, I knew better about Chinese buildings and culture. To me, it’s not only an interesting VR game but also a meaningful trip. I expected to explore more about these gardens’ history and designs.

3.How did the writer feel about the “Qianlong’s Garden Tour”?
A. Boring. B. Disappointed. C. Fun. D. Peaceful.
4.Who made the VR tour?
A. Daxiang Merged Media.
B. The Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park.
C. Chinese Cultural Heritage VR Large-Space.

②When he was a child in France, Cousteau was weak and often sick. Doctors suggested he swim to become stronger. That started his great love for water. From then on, he would go to see the ocean for a vacation if he was free. One day, a friend gave him a pair of goggles (护目镜). ③At that time, the diving clothes were big and heavy. They made it hard for divers to move freely, and an air hose (软管) tied them to the boat. So Cousteau and his friend Emile Gagnan invented (发明) the Aqua Lung. It was the first tool that allowed divers to breathe underwater for a long time. With this, Cousteau was able to explore the ocean more freely.
④He bought a boat on vacation and changed it into a place for research and making films. He sailed around the world. He explored the cold waters of Antarctica and saw many interesting animals like penguins and whales. In Australia, he saw beautiful coral reefs (珊瑚礁) and even met the strange sea dragon-like a leaf.
⑤Cousteau made a lot of books and films based on (基于) his travel and exploration experiences. His TV show lets people see the amazing sea animals at home. Also, he started the Cousteau Society to teach people about the ocean and how to protect it from pollution. Thanks to him, more and more people began to care about the ocean.

Kai played a guqin solo, and for most of the show, he played along with the rhythm (节奏) of the drums. The band played faster and faster. Kai’s classmates jumped to their feet, clapping and shouting. When the music ended, there was an awkward silence (尴尬的沉默). They all looked at the teachers.
Mr Li asked, “What were you trying to express?”
Kai answered in a low voice, “I wanted to do something different… to modernize (使现代化) the guqin’s sound.”
“Well, it’s a good try. But you know it has over 3,000 years of history. I don’t think you showed the characteristics (特点) well,” said Mr Li. “The music was… We nearly couldn’t hear the guqin,” added Miss Zhou. “I’m afraid I can’t give you high marks.”

“The guqin is connected (联系) to nature. The bottom board stands for the ground, and the rounded top board stands for the sky. A wonderful guqin performance shows the harmony (和谐) between people and nature.”
“Miss Zhou, is it fine to play the guqin with other instruments?”
“Because it is so quiet,” answered Miss Zhou, “people usually play it alone. Sometimes, people play it with the dizi or another guqin. Every note matters. And you know, there’s Chinese philosophy (哲理) behind every form of art. That’s what makes Chinese art special. We should try hard to keep the value of traditions and connect them with modern life.”
“Is it true that Confucius played the guqin?”
“That’s correct. Confucius believed that music was an important part of a well-rounded (全面) education. It could help a person develop his inner self.”
“Can I make it modern?” Kai was thinking if he had asked a stupid (愚蠢的) question.
“Ancient musicians followed traditions to show respect. To modernize it, try to find the right way to keep the value. How will you change your piece?”
“I’m not sure yet,” said Kai. “But I’m going to do something different again.”

4.Who made the VR tour?
A. Daxiang Merged Media.

(25-26八上·福建泉州五中·期中)
An eight-year-old boy went to his grandfather and said, “I’m going to be a successful man when I grow up. Can you give me some advice?”
The grandfather nodded (点头), and without saying a word he took the boy by the hand and walked him to a nearby plant nursery (苗圃). There, the two of them chose two small saplings (树苗). Then they went back home and planted one of them in the back yard, the other indoors.
“Which one do you think will be bigger in the future?” asked the grandfather. The boy thought for a while and said, “The indoor tree.” The grandfather said, “We’ll see.”
In a few years, the boy, now a teenager, came to visit. “You never answered my question from when I was a young boy. How can I become successful when I grow up?” he asked. The old man showed the teenager the indoor tree and then took him outside to see the tall tree.
“Which one is bigger?” the grandfather asked. “The outside one. But that doesn’t make sense (有道理); it faced more challenges than the indoor tree!” the teenager said.

Passage 1
(25-26八上·福建福州十九中·期中)I learned a lesson in “heart” from my little 10-year-old daughter, Sarah, who was born with a muscle (肌肉) missing in her foot and has to wear a brace (支架) all the time. That’s why she has problems running freely or even walking quickly.
On a beautiful spring day, at 4:00 pm, she came home and told me that she joined in “field day”. On that day, students usually have lots of races, games, matches and competitions. They join in the “field day” and win prizes.
Because of her brace, my mind raced, “She must be very upset. What should I say to make her cheer up?” So I tried to think of words of encouragement for my poor Sarah, things I could say to her about not letting this get her down—things I have heard many famous coaches tell the players when they were faced with failure. But before I could say a word, she looked up and said happily, “Daddy, I won two of the races.”
I couldn’t believe it. Then Sarah said, “I had an advantage.”
Aha, I knew it. She must have been given a head start—some kind of physical (身体上的) advantage. I thought to myself. But again, before I could say anything, she said, “Daddy, I didn’t get a head start...My advantage was I had to try harder!”
