作文
My Opinion on Products Made in China
It’s true that products made in China are more and more popular around the world. As a Chinese, I’m proud of this. However, people used to think products made in china were cheap and didn’t work well. But Chinese products have changed a lot and everything is different now. they aren’t so cheap as they used to be.
What’s more, they have higher quality and work better. In some ways, they are even more excellent than similar products made in foreign countries. For example, a big Haier TV bought by our family five years ago can still work well.
Of course, Chinese products aren’t always perfect. They need to be improved in some ways. I believe that in the future more and better products will be made in China and they will be more widely sold around the world.

It is reported rhino(犀牛) horns are big business. Traditional Chinese medicine uses them to treat illnesses. A kilogram can be sold as much as horn $60,000.As a result, almost all rhino populations are in danger. In order to solve the serious problems, a good way to relieve pressure on the animals might be to fill the market with fakes(仿造品),so rhinos may have a chance to stay alive.
That would need the fakes to be good. But Fritz Vollrath, a zoologist at Oxford University and his partners from Fudan University have come up with a cheap and easy-to-make fake horn that is very similar to the real thing.
The main material of Dr. Vollrath’s fake horn is horsehair. Although horses and rhinos look different, they are closely related. Horses do not have horns, of course, but neither do rhinos. The "horns" of rhinos are not made of bones but hairs. The hairs are tied tightly together by a mixture of dead cells. Examinations under a microscope showed that hairs from horses’ tails are similar to those in the horns of rhinos.
So how can a fake rhino horn be made? First, find out the right materials. Second, a proper glue should be used. Dr. Vollrath and his partners get a special kind of glue. It is naturally produced by spiders and silkworms. Third, the glued horn is put in an oven to dry. At last, after some polishing, the fake horn looks just like a real one.
DNA would certainly tell the fakes but people’s eyes are not able to tell the differences. So by making fake horns, people may help save more rhinos.

China needs its own technologies to control its own future
China Daily
Updated: Nov 1, 2018
Although their influence can still not be compared with that of Silicon Valley(硅谷) in the United States, China’s innovation(创新) centers have shown a strong development momentum(势头).
Many Westerners still think made-in-China means cheap copycats(山寨), but the number of world-class companies from China has increased over past few years.
The number of Chinese companies among the world top 500 has increased from 35 ten years ago to 120 this year. And many of them, such as Huawei and Alibaba, are successful private companies with international influence.
The development of the internet and information technology provides Chinese companies with golden chances to compete with the developed countries in the area of technology.
According to CB Insights, a US research office, the number of Chinese tech startups (科技创业公司)with a $1 billion dollar market value(价值) is bigger than that of the European Union in 2015, and is getting close to the United States quickly. However, the Chinese people know well that the country remains weak in the area of many core(核心)technologies.
Thanks to the trade frictions(贸易摩擦) with the US, China is paying more attention to developing independent core technologies. A national agreement has formed that only through catching the technologies in its own hands can the nation control its own future.
