B I am a multi-sport athlete and seasoned coach. When I was growing up, school wasn’t really my thing, but sport very much was. Athletics connected me to my school community by giving me a sense of belonging and success even when I struggled in the classroom. When I entered education, I knew I wanted to be more than a coach on the field and court—I wanted to help students like me make meaningful connections to school through sport. I designed a programme around the concepts of comfort and stretch zones. On day one, I set up a range of equipment for different sports across a field. In groups, students discussed sports that they felt comfortable and safe playing. They then took turns selecting their comfort sport on the field, doing a brief share, and playing with their group. Afterwards, we had a class discussion on the importance of doing things that bring joy and passion, and how sharing that passion with others motivates us and the people around us. On day two, with the same field design and sporting equipment, I introduced the idea of stretch zones. Students formed the same groups as on day one and discussed which sports were out of their comfort zone and more challenging to them. Some of my students were shy and others slightly frustrated (沮丧的) as they struggled to perform the skills in sport in which they were not comfortable. Then we discussed, as a class, how even when something is challenging, if we recognize the difficulty and intentionally practise, we give ourselves the opportunity to overcome it over time. The programme required more than just adjusting my curriculum (课程)—it also meant some changes to the way I taught. I found myself opening up to my students and sharing my own hardships and successes with them. As a result, my students felt freer to be their real selves. 24. What did the author think of sport when he was a student? A. It helped him adapt to school. B. It led to a decrease in his grades. C. It was mainly attracted to seniors. D. It made him struggle in the classroom. 25. Why did the author design the programme? A. To change curricula and teaching methods. B. To prepare students for unexpected challenges. C. To deepen students’ connections with school. D. To share hardships and successes with students. 26. What was a problem facing the author on the second day of the programme? A. Students wanted material rewards. B. It was difficult to group students. C. Some students feared challenges. D. The sports field became crowded. 27. What can we infer about the author? A. He is a creative teacher. B. He used to be very shy. C. He is involved in one sport. D. He is in favour of safe sport. C The rapid development of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) has been influencing education at all levels, from primary and secondary to higher education. Countries around the world are trying to find ways to use AI more flexibly in education so as to provide education for students in faraway areas and teach them the skills needed to get successful jobs in the 21st century. China has become a leader in the application of AI in education and training by developing smart learning systems and stepping up research on AI. An important area of research is the use of AI to help language learning. AI can help teachers to tailor teaching materials for learners, produce their personal teaching materials according to individual (个体的) learners’ needs and improve students’ performance. Researchers from Beijing Normal University explored how an automatic (自动的) generation system can help in teaching Chinese as a second language in schools. The researchers developed a model to use AI to ensure the resources meet learners’ needs, with studies showing the use of the teaching-learning model improved students’ performance. Students who were taught lessons using the model more actively took part in the course. In addition to teaching languages, AI can also be used to help students of all ages to learn about different cultures. Researchers from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and some other foreign universities have been exploring ways to use AI to help students from different countries learn from each other and know about each other’ s cultures while sitting in the comfort of their homes. With the development of machine learning, AI has the ability to change education if designed and applied properly. AI applications should be designed in a way that they benefit learners and educators. For that purpose, rules for learners, teachers and other staff in educational organizations should be in place. 28. Why are countries exploring the use of AI in education? A. To become a leader in the world. B. To prepare students for future jobs. C. To develop smart learning systems. D. To advance the use of AI in research. 29. What does the underlined word “tailor” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. Apply widely. B. Buy cheaply. C. Understand completely. D. Design specially. 30. What does the author suggest in the last paragraph? A. Making proper rules. B. Learning different cultures. C. Carrying out more researches. D. Setting up official organizations. 31. What is the text mainly about? A. The rapid development of AI. B. AI applications in education. C. China’s breakthrough in technology. D. The importance of machine learning. D Randall Munroe, who used to work on robots at NASA, explains science in a fun and easy-to-understand way in his book What If?. Once you get used to his unique writing style, you can go on many amazing trips with him and learn while laughing. And you will certainly learn. There is a sort of joy in getting real answers to the strange questions Munroe is sent every day. However unusual the topics are, Munroe takes them seriously. For example, if you set a meat-eating dinosaur (恐龙) free in New York City, how many humans would it have to eat to meet its need each day? Munroe thinks New York could support about 350 dinosaurs. That’s good to know, but we hope we don’t need to use this information. The book’s cover is a full-size picture of what the Earth would look like if the oceans were removed. The back has some interesting facts you might want to know before buying it—eating the book would give you about 2,300 calories (卡路里) if you could take in paper. Thanks, Munroe! Although Munroe knows a lot and can perfectly explain the science behind the questions, What If? is not a textbook. When asked what would happen when you threw a baseball at light-speed, he said there would be a shock wave expanding (膨胀) outwards, and quickly moved on. He is answering the question after all, but if you are looking for detailed classroom-style descriptions of what Munroe is talking about, you’re out of luck. But that’s what makes it great. What If? is light enough to attract you, but deep enough to make you curious about science one chapter at a time. If you’re willing to go along with Munroe’s ideas and guesses, you’re in for an exciting journey of the mind. 32. What can be found in the book What If?? A. Stories of fun journeys. B. Pictures of the oceans. C. Latest scientific experiments. D. Discussions of unreal situations. 33. How does Munroe deal with the questions in his book? A. He offers direct answers. B. He pays no attention. C. He recommends textbooks. D. He digs into many possibilities. 34. What is Munroe’s writing style like? A. Formal and detailed. B. Light but confusing. C. Humorous and educational. D. Imaginative but unclear. 35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. What If?: a collection of funny science jokes B. What If?: a scientific adventure with Munroe C. What If?: a guidebook on healthy eating habits D. What If?: a question-based book about life 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Managing your emotions (情绪) effectively is important for a successful high school experience. One day the teacher brought a bag of boiled seeds, and then called the kids together, and said, “I am going to give each one of you a seed today, a very special seed. You are to plant the seed, water it and come back here at the end of this term with what you have grown from the seed, and the one I choose will be ‘the Excellent Kid’.” Like the others, a boy named James received a seed. He went home and told his mother the story excitedly. She helped him get a pot and soil, and he planted the seed. Every day he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other kids began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. James kept checking his seed, but nothing grew. Four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were all talking about their plants, but James didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure. Two months went by, and there was still nothing in James’ pot. He just knew he had ruined his seed. Everyone else had tall plants, but he had nothing. James didn’t say anything. However, he just kept watering and fertilizing (给……施肥) the soil, expecting the seed to grow. A term finally went by. All the kids brought their plants to the teacher for inspection. James told his mother he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But she encouraged him to go, and to be honest about what happened. James felt restless because it would be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his mother was right. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 He took his empty pot to the classroom. Ashamed and anxious, James held his empty pot tightly, his eyes falling on others’ pots with various plants. He took a deep breath, gathered his courage and stepped up to the teacher with great caution, murmuring “sorry” as tears fell from his eyes. James stood there as the other kids laughed at him. The class was eagerly expecting the announcement of the winner when the teacher cleared her throat and declared, “The Excellent Kid is James!” All the other kids looked at the teacher in surprise. Whispers spread throughout the classroom; the whole class was enveloped in confusion. At that moment, the teacher patted James on the head gently and explained, “Those seeds are all boiled, and they are a test of honesty.”Upon hearing this, most of the kids lowered their heads with shame. It was then that the gloomy mood faded away from James’ heart, and a sweet smile appeared on his face, for James enjoyed being honest. 听力录音材料 Text 1 W: Hurry, Scott, we are all waiting for you. M: I’m coming. We needn’t be in such a hurry. It’s only seven o’clock. We still have fifty minutes before the match begins. Text 2 M: I like the names Scott and Michael. M: I don’t think our boy should be named Scott. That is our dog’s name. How does Robert sound? Text 3 M: Mary, I really want to apologize for what I said to you the other day. W: Oh, forget it. Text 4 W: Their wedding was absolutely beautiful. M: It really was. I want a big wedding like that. But I think it might have cost them a lot of money. W: I’d rather have a small and memorable wedding in that case. Text 5 W: Are there any other requirements for this position? M: Yes, you have to master several languages. W: Well, I can speak Spanish and a little bit of French. And I am attending an English class now. Text 6 M: Thank goodness, it’s Friday. I’m so tired. We had exams all week. W: Yeah, I’m tired, too. Luckily we’ve finished all the exams. We can relax during the summer holiday. M: Yeah. And I also took my driver’s test today. W: Finally! How did you do? Did you pass it? M: Though the test was really difficult to me, I passed anyway. W: You did? Congratulations! M: Thanks. W: Well, do you have any plans for the summer holiday? I want to go sightseeing. M: Well, I want to volunteer in the hospital. And I think it is meaningful to do the volunteer work. Text 7 W: David, you look tired. What’s the matter? M: Yeah, I stayed up late watching the football game. It finished at 1:00 am. W: One o’clock? No wonder. But we have our biology speech this morning. Are you ready for it? M: Almost. I just need to practise my part a bit more. I hope I don’t mess up. W: You’ll be fine. Just remember to speak slowly. By the way, do you bring the model we made? M: Oh no! I completely forgot it. It’s on my desk at home. W: Don’t worry. We can use the classroom computer to show the pictures instead. M: Good idea. Now, let’s find a quiet corner to practise before class starts. Text 8 M: I can’t make up my mind which bike to buy, Tracy. Can you give me some advice? W: Personally I like that green one, but I think you prefer the black one, like the one I’m now using. M: You’re right. I like it very much. It’s fashionable. But the brown one is beautiful, too. W: Yes, but it’s more expensive. You have to make up your own mind. M: Every bike here is nice. I don’t really know what to do. Buying a new bike here in Holland is almost as difficult as buying a car back in the United States. W: But there are even more choices. Would you like to try another shopping centre? There are a number of stores selling bikes there. M: Why not? But let’s have some coffee before we go. I hope it will help me to make the decision. Text 9 W: How can I earn some extra money this summer? M: Why don’t we start a lemonade stand, Laura? W: That’s a great idea, William. But do you think we can make any money? M: If we set up in an area with a lot of traffic on a hot day, we will get plenty of customers. We can charge $1.5 per cup because we need to cover our costs. W: OK. What do we need to get started? M: We need the ingredients, including lemons, sugar and water. We also need something to keep our money in, a sign to advertise the lemonade, paper cups and a cardboard box to use as a stand. W: Yeah. And we should have a permit and a cooler. M: OK, let’s get set up and think of a plan to get some customers and make some sales! W: Why don’t I attract the customers and you make the lemonade? Oh, and we can ask Nina to serve the customers. M: Sounds good to me. Text 10 M: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Museum of Fine Arts. This museum houses some of the greatest works of art to be found in the entire world. There are priceless collections of paintings, coins and other items with a period of history from 3000 BC to the present day. There are four separate parts to the museum—the Gallery of Ancient Treasures, the Gallery of Classic Art, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Gallery of Sculpture. I highly recommend you should start your tour in the Gallery of Sculpture. I particularly advise you to visit the Gallery of Modern Art, because at the moment, there is a visiting collection of French modern art. It is truly incredible. The paintings on display there are nothing short of wonderful. I promise you won’t be disappointed. To get the most out of your museum tour, you can buy an audio guide from the gift shop. It really is worth it because you’ll be able to hear expert opinions and descriptions of all the works. The time now is 11:00 am. I suggest we all meet in the hall in four hours. That should give you plenty of time to see everything. Does anyone have any questions? No? OK, enjoy your visit and I will see you later. 英语试题 第3页(共8页) 英语试题 第4页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
