The greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will provide help for a person in need. People tend to act in an emergency when there are few or no other people present. About six decades ago, researchers connected the bystander effect with two factors: the diffusion of responsibility and social influence. The former means the more bystanders there are, the less personal responsibility individuals will feel to take action. Social influence means that individuals observe the behaviour of those around them to decide how to respond. Under the bystander effect, those left without aid may feel disconnected, experience increased pain and decreased self-worth, as well as suffer stress-related aftereffects. Besides, trust issues may come up, making it hard to build relationships, causing these people to pull away socially for fear of being ignored. One way to address the bystander effect is to behave as if one is the first or only person to see a problem. Often, when one person makes a move, even if just to shout “Hey, what’s going on?”, others may be encouraged to help people in trouble as well. That is to say, an active bystander is most effective when they assume that they themselves are the only person taking charge. It is also important for individuals to develop moral virtues. Try to see the situation from the viewpoint of the victims (受害者). Worry less about the consequences (后果) of giving a helping hand and think more about the example you are setting for future generations. If you are the affected person, pick out one person in the crowd and make eye contact. People’s natural drive to be kind and helpful may make it hard for them to reject your request for help. D.Approach issues from others’ standpoint. ●Ⅵ 阅读七选五(每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Most self-motivation definitions consider how you can find the ability to do what needs to be done without influence from other people or situations. Self-motivation is encouraging yourself to continue making progress towards a goal even when it feels challenging. It’s turning your shoulds into musts. How can you motivate (激励) yourself to achieve your goals? 1.     Take responsibility for your life. Self-motivation is often difficult because it comes from you. If you don’t take care of the underlying issues that keep you from making progress, you can fall back on blaming (归咎于) others for your failure. In some cases, you can rely on external factors and friends for motivation.2. In other words, you’re the one who must take charge of your own life.  3. You need a powerful purpose to motivate you. Why do you want to build a business? It likely goes back to the ability to do what you want, when you want and with whom you want—the true definition of success. Connect your goals back to your purpose and you’ll never lack self-motivation.  Reevaluate your goals. At any moment, the decision you make can change the course of your life forever. If you focus on your vision and purpose, but you’re still not feeling inspired, you may need to make a decision to go in a new direction. 4.     Create powerful beliefs. 5. If you don’t have enough self-motivation, it comes down to one reason: you don’t see yourself as a self-motivated person. Change your negative beliefs into positive ones by conditioning your mind. Catch yourself when you think negatively about yourself and change that self-talk so that it motivates you instead of holding you back.  A.Find your why. B.Create a great action plan. C.Here are some tips that might help you. D.You need to have a clear purpose to get enough self-motivation. E.The only limitations in our lives are the ones we put on ourselves. F.But at the end of the day, you’re the one who has to put in the work. G.That is to say, if your why isn’t motivating you, then you may need a new why. Besides, trust issues may come up, making it hard to build relationships, causing these people to pull away socially for fear of being ignored.” 根据最后一段中“Try to see the situation from the viewpoint of the victims (受害者).” 1.C 上文“How can you motivate (激励) yourself to achieve your goals?” 2.F 上文“In some cases, you can rely on external factors and friends for motivation.” 承接上文,与上文构成转折关系,可以依靠外部力量,但必须自己努力,同时引出下文“In other words, you’re the one who must take charge of your own life.” 3.A 下文“You need a powerful purpose to motivate you. Why do you want to build a business? It likely goes back to the ability to do what you want, when you want and with whom you want—the true definition of success. Connect your goals back to your purpose and you’ll never lack self-motivation.” 故选A项。 4.G 上文“If you focus on your vision and purpose, but you’re still not feeling inspired, you may need to make a decision to go in a new direction.” 5.E 下文“If you don’t have enough self-motivation, it comes down to one reason: you don’t see yourself as a self-motivated person. Change your negative beliefs into positive ones by conditioning your mind. Catch yourself when you think negatively about yourself and change that self-talk so that it motivates you instead of holding you back.” 故填an。 故填which。 with a history of… 故填With。 故填was taught。 decide to do sth为固定搭配,意为“决定做某事”。故填to focus。 spend time (in) doing sth为固定搭配,意为“花费时间做某事”。
