21. 答案 A。
首段第一句就给 Hyrox 下了定义:它把跑步和力量训练组合成一场比赛(a mix of running and strength training done as a race),所以 A 对。
24. 答案 A。
发布会最大焦点就是首款折叠屏 iPhone Duo(starts at $1,999)。
A doubtful、B certain it will fail、C uninterested
遇到带引号的生词,结合后文解释(so automated that no lights are needed)就能破。
32. 答案 A。
B“有可接管的司机”与“no way to take control”相反;C“比普通出租车慢”、D“只靠太阳能”都无依据。细节题定位到首段“no steering wheels or brake pedals”即可。
G 句 'Yet the latest results told a far less cheerful story' 用 Yet 一转,results 又扣回 OECD 数据,正好当这段的主题句。
D 'Asian countries also slipped, but usually less than the West' 用 Asian countries 接住前句,'also slipped / 但比西方轻'既承认亚洲领先、又点出也在滑——自然引到“整体下滑”。
C 'These long-running factors could push ability still lower' 用 long-running 扣回'peaked 2012 / fallen ever since',收束下滑趋势并预言更低。
39. 答案 A。
A 'Screens are clearly pulling children away from books' 用 screens / books 把“科技”和“阅读”连起来,正好解释“担忧”并引出后面的数据。
F 'This approach may not fit every country's classroom' 用 This approach 指代前面'copy Finland's model',总结批评并自然转向下句。
41. 答案 B。
'not to finish in last place' 是固定说法,意思就是“别垫底”,和前文“目标很简单”呼应。A leading(领先的)意思反了;C second(第二名)偷换名次;D trailing(落后的)一般不和 place 搭配表名次。
42. 答案 C。
'the ultimate failure' 和上文 last place 呼应,就是“彻底的失败者”。A victor(胜利者)、B hero(英雄)、D beginner(初学者)都不合“不想让儿子觉得爸爸是失败者”的意思。
43. 答案 A。
B condition(get in condition 也通,但本篇用 shape)、C momentum(无此搭配)、D gear(get in gear 是“开始行动”,意思不对)。
44. 答案 B。
entered for the race A headed(headed for 朝…去)、C opted(opted for 选择)、D applied(applied for 申请)都不能和 for the race 组成“参赛”。
A content(满足的)、B composed(镇定的)、D upset(心烦的)都不合“找借口”的心态。
46. 答案 A。
B equipped(装备)、C conditioned(身体状态)、D built(体格)也能修饰人,但这里强调的是“备赛充分”。
47. 答案 D。
冰冷海水让人 shiver(发抖),符合语境。A tremble(颤抖)意思很近、是强干扰,但 shiver 更特指因冷发抖;B sweat(出汗)、C faint(晕倒)相反。
A Abruptly(突然)、C Reluctantly(不情愿地)、D Temporarily(暂时)都不合“最终上岸”的递进。
49. 答案 A。
B trailed(尾随/落后,意思反)、C cheered(加油)、D shadowed(跟踪)都不合。
A surpass(超越)、B outrun(跑得比…
A faded(消退)、C stirred(涌动)、D survived(幸存)都概括不了“由尴尬转骄傲”。
52. 答案 D。
reframed…as a victory A disguised(伪装)、B dismissed(否定/打发)、C defended(辩护)都不合“重新解读”的意思。
53. 答案 A。
B mentor(导师,侧重指导)、C legend(传奇)、D idol(偶像)都不合父子语境——爸爸是日常榜样,不是遥不可及的传奇。
54. 答案 C。
displayed 是“展现出(坚持与韧性)”,和原文 'Persistence and resilience — that's what I displayed' 一致。A pursued(追求)、B admired(钦佩)、D embraced(接纳)都不接 qualities 作“展现”讲。
A limit、B peak、C maximum 都不和 try your 搭配(应为 try your best / utmost)。
56. 答案 passers-by。
57. 答案 to。
bring back to life 是固定搭配,“使… 易混 into / for,但固定短语只认 to。
58. 答案 what。
to what has been a public trauma 中 what 引导宾语从句,作“已成为公共创伤的事物”。
60. 答案 was left。
易错:只写 left(缺 be 动词)或 has left(主动,语义反)。
61. 答案 has seen。
than any person alive has (ever) seen,强调“至今仍没人见过”这么亮的内部,用现在完成时 has seen。易错 saw(过去时,不符 alive 至今)。
易错 stupefying(现在分词表主动,语义反——是教堂让人呆住,不是教堂自己呆住)。
63. 答案 The。
64. 答案 reviving。
介词 by 后接动名词,by reviving it。易错 revive(谓语)或 to revive(不定式),by 表方式一律接 -ing。
65. 答案 lengths。
go to great lengths 易错 length(单数,搭配错)。

Student Union
三个要点都覆盖到了:时间地点(October 8 – November 8 / school library and English corner)、活动内容(book exhibitions, reading salons, a speech contest)、号召参与(Everyone is welcome)。
Deciding to follow the stream, Mia gripped Leo's hand tightly and stepped off the trail.
Branches scratched her arms, but she kept her eyes fixed on the water that whispered downhill. Leo stumbled once and whimpered, yet her grip never loosened. Guided by Dad's words, they walked along the current, and the trees slowly thinned. After what felt like forever, a silver thread of lake flashed through the pines, and Mia's chest lifted with a sudden hope.
When they finally saw the cabin lights through the trees, both children let out a breath they had been holding.
Their parents burst out and gathered them into warm arms. Mia opened her palm to show Dad the whistle still there and whispered, 'We followed the stream.' He laughed and ruffled her hair, proud that she had remembered. That night Leo slept with his pinecone, and Mia carried away something quiet but true: when you are lost, trust what you know, and keep going.
动作链要清楚:gripped → stepped off → kept eyes on → stumbled → walked beside → appeared,一步一步把'走出来'的过程推出来,节奏不散。 情感落点放在最后那句——when you are lost, trust what you know, and keep going,把一次迷路写成有用的成长,主题一下立住。语言上不必堆难词,whispered downhill、a silver thread of lake、let out a breath they had been holding 这类小表达画面感已够强;评卷老师看的,正是这种'用简单的词写出味道'的功夫。

A
Inside Strawberry Arena in Stockholm, thousands of sweating men and women are puffing after a gruelling mix of running and strength training. They have run a kilometre, rowed, lunged, and pushed a sled. A respectable race time is about 90 minutes; the fittest finish in under an hour.
This cross between a relay race and high-intensity interval training is called Hyrox. The name is believed to be a mix of "hybrid" and "rock star". At the first race, in Hamburg in 2017, some 650 people took part. Last season more than 1.5 million athletes lined up across 105 events in 35 countries; in the 2026-27 season over 2 million are expected to compete.
The format has set pulses racing. The hashtag #hyrox has been viewed more than 500 million times. Big brands have taken the hint: Puma, Red Bull and Amazon now sponsor the series. In June, a private-equity firm agreed to buy a majority stake, proving this is now a business, not just a hobby.
The boom is partly explained by gym culture. Hyrox adds a social element to a usually solitary pursuit, and there is the adrenaline rush of competition. Participants often turn races into mini-holidays, visiting new cities with friends.
The sport attracts racers of all ages. The average age is 36, but the oldest at the championships was 75. It is kinder on the body than CrossFit because it does not require complex weightlifting. This may explain why it appeals to retired athletes as well as hobbyists.
Will Hyrox run out of breath? Tickets can cost over 150 pounds, and some grumble they are scarce. But its co-founder believes the format has room to grow, and hopes it will be in the Olympics in 2032.
21. What is Hyrox according to the passage?
A mix of running and strength training done as a race.
A traditional marathon held once a year in Hamburg.
A weightlifting contest for professionals only.
A social-media challenge with no real activity.
22. What can we learn about Hyrox's growth from the passage?
It is sponsored only by small local fitness clubs.
It has grown from 650 participants in 2017 to over 1.5 million last season.
It attracts mainly teenagers under the age of 18.
It has stopped expanding since the 2025 season.
23. Why does the author mention CrossFit in the last paragraph?
To show CrossFit is more popular than Hyrox.
To prove the Olympics accepted CrossFit first.
To explain why Hyrox is gentler on the body.
To complain that Hyrox is too expensive.
B
Apple kicked off its most important product event in years on Wednesday, introducing a truly new iPhone, a new chief executive, and higher prices. The headline is the first foldable iPhone, which starts at $1,999. The iPhone Duo, almost like a tablet when open, fits in a pocket and lets users run more than one app at a time. It comes in white and dark gray.
Equally important was the man introducing it. John Ternus took over as Apple's CEO last week, becoming its third CEO since 1997. Hopes are high that this longtime hardware engineer can spark a new wave of innovation. Ternus smiled as he walked on stage: "We've been imagining quite a lot."
The bad news for buyers was the price rise. The cost of memory chips inside has jumped five times since last autumn, pushing Apple to raise prices to protect its profits.
The Duo's larger screen lets users watch a video while texting, or read an email beside a message. Its "crease" — where the screen folds — is almost invisible, unlike on many Android phones. One trade-off is weight: the two halves make it bulkier than other iPhones. For the new Pro models, Apple stressed on-device AI powered by its faster A20 Pro chip, and a camera that opens and closes like a human pupil.
Foldable phones are not new — Samsung launched its first in 2019. But the category has stalled, with shipments falling 15% this year. Apple's entry, experts say, will be a shot in the arm for the whole field.
24. What is the most important product introduced at the event?
The first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo.
A new Mac computer with a faster chip.
A cheap smartphone under $1,000.
A smartwatch that tracks sleep.
25. What can we infer about John Ternus?
He was the company's founder back in 1997.
He is a new CEO who may bring more innovation.
He opposes the idea of foldable phones.
He used to lead the software department only.
26. Why did Apple raise its prices?
To compete with cheaper Android phones.
To fund a new factory in Europe.
Because memory chip costs rose sharply.
Because iPhone sales increased sharply.
27. What is the author's attitude toward Apple's entry into foldables?
Doubtful that it will sell at all.
Certain that it will fail like others.
Uninterested in the whole field.
Positive that it may revive the category.
C
When Ford opened its first large overseas plant in Manchester in 1911, it set the route for carmakers going global. Over a century later, with Ford in retreat, China's cheap but advanced cars are roaring, and its firms are becoming global giants. When localising production, not all advantages travel — but many do, to the dismay of foreign rivals.
China's mighty carmakers, making about a quarter of the world's cars, have competitors on the run. A price war at home, as the market shrinks, has pushed exports up. In five years foreigners' share of China's market has halved, while exports rose seven-fold. In 2026 exports could hit 10 million vehicles.
There are good reasons to build closer to buyers: to cut shipping costs and avoid tariffs, and to suit local taste. Chinese firms already assemble cars across the developing world. But Europe is their biggest prize.
In the second quarter, Chinese carmakers took 11% of western Europe's sales, passing Japanese rivals. Tougher rules are coming: the EU's new law would tie subsidies to local content.
Chinese carmakers are updating plans fast. BYD is opening a plant in Hungary; Chery will use part of Nissan's British factory; Geely will build at a Ford plant in Spain. A new factory takes about three years; buying an old one is quicker.
China's edge comes from lean structures, streamlined manufacturing and vertical integration. Chinese cars use 1,000-2,000 parts, while European rivals wrangle 3,000-10,000. China has also mastered the "software-defined vehicle". All this makes it quicker to develop new models — about two years, versus double for foreigners. Much of this advantage will remain as production moves abroad. Local labour may matter less: Chinese carmakers are building "dark factories" so automated that no lights are needed. China speed will not slow soon.
28. What does the passage mainly discuss?
How Ford lost its lead in the car market.
Why European carmakers are closing factories.
China's carmakers expanding into global markets.
The history of the electric vehicle since 1911.
29. What pushed Chinese car exports to rise?
Higher tariffs imposed by the EU.
A shrinking home market and a price war.
Ford's retreat from Britain.
Falling costs of local labour in China.
30. What advantage do Chinese carmakers have over European rivals?
They use far more parts per car.
They sell only in developing countries.
Lean structures and faster development.
They rely on older factory buildings.
31. What does the phrase "dark factories" in the last paragraph mean?
Factories that produce cars at night only.
Plants powered entirely by solar energy.
Old factories bought from European rivals.
Highly automated plants needing almost no lighting.
D
Elon Musk sent dozens of self-driving Cybercabs without steering wheels or brake pedals onto the streets of Austin, Texas, betting that Americans will overcome their fear of rides with "no control".
The gold-colored Teslas give passengers no way to take control in an emergency. Tesla shares had suffered amid falling sales, but rose over 5% on hopes the taxis will catch on.
"No steering wheel, no pedals," Tesla teased before the launch. Musk later wrote, "A Storm of Cybercabs." He must move quickly: Tesla trails leader Waymo in cars deployed and trips done. To catch up, it must show its camera-only system can safely avoid pedestrians. Rivals add radar and lidar.
Even if the tech works, Americans need convincing. A February Pew survey found seven in ten U.S. adults were "not too" or "not at all" comfortable in a driverless car. Only 7% said they would be "extremely" or "very" comfortable.
Tesla's stock was hit last year after Musk joined politics, sparking protests and boycotts. It posted a second straight sales drop and lost its crown as the top EV maker to China's BYD.
Regulators signaled he still has convincing to do. Tesla lacks approval for its partial self-driving software in most EU countries. In the U.S., several investigations are open. One examines crashes in poor visibility, including one that killed a pedestrian. Another looks at cars running red lights.
The pressure rose when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a fourth inquiry into the Cybercab itself, asking whether a car with no wheel, pedals or mirrors meets federal safety rules. Carmakers may normally self-certify their cars, but the agency will scrutinize how much of Tesla's case rests on the claim that old rules simply don't apply.
32. What is special about the Cybercab?
It has no steering wheel or brake pedals.
It has a driver who can take control.
It is slower than a normal taxi.
It runs only on solar power.
33. Why does Tesla need to "move quickly"?
Its stock price keeps falling fast.
It trails Waymo in deployment.
Regulators banned all its cars.
Customers demanded cheaper rides.
34. What do the Pew survey results suggest?
Most Americans love driverless cars.
Only 7% oppose the technology.
Public comfort with driverless cars is low.
Tesla leads all rivals in safety.
35. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
The Cybercab easily meets all safety rules.
Carmakers must always self-certify their vehicles.
The Cybercab will soon replace human taxis.
Regulators question whether the driverless design is legal.
Are Teenagers Growing Dimmer?
Every three years the OECD releases the results of international school tests taken by 15-year-olds across the world. There were reasons to hope that the latest data, published this month, would bring positive news. Policymakers dared hope that, with the pandemic behind us, grades might start to rebound.
____(36)____ In rich countries, scores in all three subjects have fallen further. In reading, the decline is even speeding up. Anyone who cares about today's young — and tomorrow's economies — should be alarmed.
The OECD's project, known as PISA, creates an international league table. This year, as in almost every round since 2000, Asian school systems rule the roost. ____(37)____ The bigger picture, though, is one of long-term decline.
Average scores in 23 OECD countries peaked around 2012 and have fallen ever since. In both maths and reading, today's 15-year-olds test at levels a 14-year-old might have reached a decade ago. ____(38)____
Falling scores also deepen worries about technology. ____(39)____ The share of nine-year-olds in America who read for pleasure fell from nearly 60% in the 1990s to 37% now. Weak reading drags down other subjects too.
PISA may itself share some blame, by sending reformers down a weak path. When the tests began in 2000, Finland topped the table, and many copied its model of less front-of-class teaching. ____(40)____ Test scores are not the measure of a person. But good grades predict better health and longer lives — so it is time for reformers to hit the books.
A. Screens are clearly pulling children away from books.
B. The previous round of testing had shown a sharp drop.
C. These long-running factors could push ability still lower.
D. Asian countries also slipped, but usually less than the West.
E. Many hoped the disaster was finally over.

Learning from Last Place
When I signed up for a triathlon years ago, I had one goal. It wasn't to win — or even to place in the top half of my age group. My goal was simple: not to finish in ____(41)____ place. I didn't want my son, Zane, to see his dad as the ultimate ____(42)____.
I'm not much of an athlete. But that summer my wife urged me to get in ____(43)____, and Zane came up with a drastic proposal: "Let's do a triathlon together!" I couldn't say no to my son, so I ____(44)____ for the race.
Finally, I crossed the finish line — 121st out of 121 racers. Zane hugged me. But I was ____(45)____, searching for excuses. The bike brake was rubbing; others did relays. Then I looked around and saw people far better ____(46)____ than I was.
We lined up by the shore and dived into the bay. The icy water made me ____(47)____. Zane pulled away with strong strokes; I resorted to the breaststroke. ____(48)____, I made it back to land.
I ran to my bike and pedaled the hilly course. For the next half-hour I heard "On your left!" as faster racers ____(49)____ me. I wasn't in last place. When I glanced back, I saw a woman in her 70s. I told myself I could ____(50)____ her, and kept moving.
In the final mile, her steps got louder. I watched her pull away. But something ____(51)____: my embarrassment was slowly replaced by pride. I had achieved something more than finishing — I had ____(52)____ my last-place finish as a victory.
I'm not a loser. I'm a triathlete and a ____(53)____ for my son. Persistence and resilience — that's what I ____(54)____. Not winning is OK as long as you try your ____(55)____.

The mountain trail had seemed so clear when Mia, twelve, and her brother Leo, nine, set out after lunch. Their parents were resting at the cabin, and the siblings had promised to return before the light faded. Mia carried the red backpack with sandwiches and a whistle her father had given her "for emergencies." Leo clutched his favorite pinecone, collected at the trailhead.
An hour in, they found a fork: one path marked by a painted blue arrow, the other by nothing. Trusting her memory, Mia chose the unmarked way, certain it was shorter. The trees grew thicker, and the cheerful birdsong gave way to wind. Leo began to complain that his shoes pinched, and he lagged behind.
When the light turned amber, Mia realized the cabin was nowhere in sight. The blue-arrow path was gone. She blew the whistle — three short blasts, as Dad taught — but the forest swallowed the sound. Leo's lower lip trembled; he pressed the pinecone into his palm. "I'm scared," he whispered.
Mia took his hand. She remembered Dad saying the stream always led downhill to the lake, and the lake was near the cabin. Somewhere ahead, water murmured.
Paragraph 1:
Deciding to follow the stream, Mia gripped Leo's hand tightly and stepped off the trail.
Paragraph 2:
When they finally saw the cabin lights through the trees, both children let out a breath they had been holding.
