Bees are smarter than we think! When a bee finds food, it does a special wiggle dance (摇摆舞) to tell others where to go. The way it moves shows where the food is, and how long it waggles tells how far away the food is. However, the bee dance doesn’t always work. Scientists have been puzzled (困惑的) by this for years. Now they have found something new.
In a new US study, scientists used a hive (蜂箱) with clear walls to record the bees dancing. They trained some bees to get food at a certain place. These bees returned and danced to show others where to go. If a new bee found the food after watching a dance, the scientists checked the video to see which part of the dance led the bee to the food.
They found that bees often succeeded when the dance was longer, showing that the food was farther away than it actually was. This way, bees would fly past the food, then see it on their way back, giving them two chances to find it. Also, if all bees danced the same way, they might miss the food more often. Small mistakes in the dance made bees search more, increasing their chances of finding the food.
21. Scientists used a special hive with clear walls to watch how bees dance.
22. The research found that bees were more successful when the dance showed the food was closer than it really was.
23. If every bee danced the same way, they would find the food more quickly.
24. Small mistakes in the dance can help bees because they make the bees search over a larger area.
25. This passage is mainly about the different types of bee dances.

If life can be compared to a meal, I think the mistakes are like salt and the success is candy.
“Hey,” said the boy whose name I couldn’t remember, sitting next to me. “Don’t worry. Take your time.” And so I did. But I still couldn’t correctly pronounce my Chinese name that was given by the teacher. I was so embarrassed on my first day of learning Chinese.
I took Chinese classes during my summer vacation. Every morning, I walked for 25 minutes to the class while having a Chinese pancake from one of the breakfast carts (推车) on the way. Learning Spanish in school was an easy job for me, because I could speak French and Italian, which helped me with it. However, learning Chinese was difficult at first. As a boy who was born in America and grew up in America, I knew nothing about the language and had no experience of learning the language. I chose it mainly because I was going to teach and work internationally.
As the classes went on, I slowly found that I was making connections. My 10 years of playing the piano has allowed me to perform for others. My several years of writing has led me to become a school reporter. I knew that my Chinese classes would allow me to speak Chinese well. As the teachers helped me build up confidence, I soon began tasting the sweetness.
So what did my summer really taste like? It tasted like the Chinese food that, for the first time, I did not order in English, my mother language.
36. Why did the writer feel embarrassed in his first Chinese class?

39. In which part of a magazine can you read the text?

根据"young girls would be asked to painfully bind their feet"可知,女孩们痛苦地缠足是为了追求美,而非舒适或方便,beautiful“美丽的”符合。
固定搭配a symbol of …

第二段中的句子“In a new US study, scientists used a hive with clear walls to record the bees dancing.”表明科学家使用了一个带有透明壁的蜂箱来记录蜜蜂跳舞,题干表述“used a special hive with clear walls to watch how bees dance”与原文信息一致。
第三段中的句子“They found that bees often succeeded when the dance was longer, showing that the food was farther away than it actually was.”
第三段中的句子“Also, if all bees danced the same way, they might miss the food more often.”
第三段中的句子“Small mistakes in the dance made bees search more, increasing their chances of finding the food.”

As a boy who was born in America and grew up in America, I knew nothing about the language and had no experience of learning the language. I chose it mainly because I was going to teach and work internationally.
