三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,共30分)
A
I grew up in a small town called Palmerston, Ontario. My parents had a small store, and we lived a simple life. In high school, I dreamed of working in TV. But when I talked to a school advisor, she told me I could only be a nurse, a teacher, or a hairdresser. I was too shy to tell anyone about my real dream — except my parents. They always said, “You can do anything you want.”
With their support, I applied for (申请) the radio and TV program at Ryerson University in Toronto. I was accepted and graduated as the best student. But finding a job was not easy. CBC and CTV both said NO to me because I had no experience.
Then I heard that Global Television was just starting. I made a brave decision. I found the name of the president and decided to call him directly. My heart was beating fast, but I practiced what I would say. When he answered the phone, I politely asked for a visit to the studio. He was surprised but agreed.
I chose 11 o’clock for the visit, hoping he might ask me to lunch. Sure enough, after the tour, he did. During the lunch, he asked me directly, “What do you want?” I answered, “All I want is a chance. If there is a job on camera, I want a chance to try. I just want you to know me.”
Three months later, his secretary called. There was a chance to try out for a new game show called Wintario. I went, and everything went well. I got the job at once. That was the start of a 22-year career. I went on to host hundreds of shows, appeared in ads, movies and celebrations, and built a life I had only dreamed of as a teenager.
Looking back, I learned that dreams don’t come true by waiting. You have to be brave, take risks, and take the first step — even when you are afraid. One phone call changed my life. You never know where your courage will lead you.

Recently, Michaela Benthaus, a 33-year-old German engineer, made history as the first wheelchair user to travel to space. Her dream-come-true journey took her beyond (在……之上) the clouds along with five other passengers, showing the world that anything is possible.
Seven years ago, a mountain bike accident changed Michaela’s life. She lost the ability to walk, but she never lost her dream of seeing the stars. Thanks to a company called Blue Origin, her dream finally came true.
As the rocket soared (升空) 105 km high, Michaela left her wheelchair on the ground. For the first time, she felt weightless. Inside the capsule (太空舱), she laughed with joy and even tried to turn upside down while looking at the Earth from above. “It was the coolest experience,” she said happily after landing.
The 10-minute flight took place in a special capsule called New Shepard. The company designed it to be accessible (可使用的) for everyone. To help Michaela, the company added a special board so she could move from the door to her seat. At the launch pad (发射台), a lift carried her to the top of the rocket.
Before this flight, Michaela believed space was only for “super healthy” people. She hoped her trip would prove to the world that people with disabilities belong in space, too. “I hope I’m only the start,” she said.

Unitree Robotics, set up by Wang Xingxing in 2016, is very successful in the field of robots. At the 2026 Spring Festival Gala, its G1 and H2 robots worked with martial (武术) artists to put on a wonderful kung fu show. They performed difficult movements perfectly without any mistakes, showing that technology can work well with traditional Chinese culture.
Wang has loved robots since childhood. At 14, he built his first walking robot with toy car wheels and old watch batteries. Though it only took three steps before falling, the experience taught him to keep trying. In 2013, he created X Dog, a dog-shaped robot faster than real animals, laying a solid (坚实的) foundation for his later creations.
▲ They always offer help to people in many fields of life. They read interesting stories to sick children in hospitals to cheer them up. They also check dangerous factory equipment to protect workers, help teachers give lively classes at school, and assist (帮助) the disabled. Guide robots can lead blind people through busy streets using special sensors (传感器). Another robot can use its arm to help wheelchair users pick up objects. “Technology should make life warmer,” Wang says.
These robots use easy-to-understand technology. Special cameras act as their eyes, while computers help them learn. For example, to perform kung fu, they watched human performances repeatedly. In 2023, Unitree’s models accounted for 70% of all four-legged robots in the global market, and its humanoid robots won high praise from global media. Wang often encourages students: “I failed English tests but never gave up on robot dreams. Don’t let weaknesses stop you!”

As graduation (毕业) comes near, I start to think about my junior high school life. Those early school days feel like a story from an old book. ▲ And I also remember students laughing during breaks.
Years ago, I was called “gifted” after a few rounds of tests and received an acceptance letter (录取通知书) from my junior high school. This new beginning, however, filled me with nervousness. I had to leave behind familiar faces to step into a world of strangers from different places, which was hard to deal with. When I first entered the new school, I had no idea of the great influence this change would have on my life.
Now, looking back, I see that my time at junior high school turned out to be much better than I expected. It was an important period in my young life. Dance became an unexpected great love for me. Ballet (芭蕾舞) and modern dance classes held every other day created some of my best memories from that time. Our dance teacher, Ms Smith, made us think of the famous dancer, Debbie Allen. In the dancing room, she made us feel like stars. Our dance performances (表演) were unforgettable, and from the stage (舞台), it was exciting to see the hall completely filled.
Besides dance, what hangs around most in my memory are the relationships that were created. I had classmates from different backgrounds. And each of them increased my knowledge in ways that books could not. As I look back now, it’s clear that school is about more than what we learn in class. It is also about the people who guide us, the friendships that shape us, and the experiences that make us who we are.

A. She had no special gift.
B. She had to meet new people.
C. She came from a small place.
D. She had to take an important test.
( ) 33. From Paragraph 3, we can learn that the writer’s dance classes were ______.
A. long and tiring
B. strict and difficult
C. easy and relaxing
D. fun and enjoyable
( ) 34. What did the writer realise after her junior high school life came to an end?
A. Education doesn’t stop in the classroom.
B. Good friends can make hard times easier.
C. Being smart is what helps one do well in a new school.
D. The best feeling is having many people see you do something great.
( ) 35. What is the writer’s purpose in writing the text?

四、任务型阅读(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分)
On 31st October 2025, China’s Shenzhou-21 spaceship brought a team of special astronauts into space: four black mice. On the early morning of 1st November, they arrived at the Tiangong space station. During their stay there, they were in good health and spirits. Videos sent back to the earth showed them happily eating, climbing, and resting inside their special space home.
Why send mice to space? Scientists study them because their bodies have a lot in common with humans. Mice help us understand how living things react (反应) to space conditions. By watching how they eat, move, and behave (表现) in a weightless environment, researchers can learn important lessons about how space travel might influence human health.
But becoming a space mouse is not easy! These four were chosen as the best out of 300 mice. Just like human astronauts, they passed many difficult tests. For example, they ran on a tiny “exercise bike” to check their strength and endurance (体力和耐力). They were also spun (快速旋转) around to train them against space motion sickness (空间运动病). Researchers even hung them upside down to see their reactions, choosing the most active and strong-willed mice. What’s more, the mice practised living in small spaces to get used to their space home. After all these challenges (挑战), only the most excellent mouse astronauts got their ticket to space.
On 14th November, the mouse astronauts returned safely to the earth. This research is a big step forwards in understanding how humans might live in space for a long time in the future, and these four tiny heroes have played a huge part in this discovery.

Dear Dennis,
How’s it going? Glad to receive your e-mail. I’m writing to tell you something about the running race of our spring sports meeting last Friday.
Chen Jie and Li Mei competed in the 800-meter race at our spring sports meeting. In the first half, they spared no effort to take the lead, with Chen Jie just a little behind. When only 10 meters remained to the finishing line, Li Mei suddenly fell down. Seeing this, Chen Jie stopped at once to help her stand up. They supported each other and crossed the finishing line arm in arm. All students cheered for the two special champions. I was greatly touched. The story tells us real sportsmanship lies in friendship and kindness rather than winning the race.
What do you think of the story? Looking forward to your reply!
Yours,
Li Hua
