However, he wasn’t sure whether or not his classmates were his true friends, so he asked his grandpa. The old man answered, “I have just exactly what you need; it’s in the attic (阁楼). Wait here for a minute.” Grandpa left, soon returning as though carrying something in his hand, but Mario could see nothing there. “Take it. It’s a very special chair. Because it’s invisible (无形的) it’s rather difficult to sit on, but if you take it to school and you manage to sit on it, you’ll be able to tell who your true friends are.” Mario took the strange invisible chair and went to school. At break time he asked everyone to form a circle, and he put himself in the middle, with his chair. “Nobody move. You’re about to see something amazing,” Mario said. Then Mario tried sitting on the chair. He missed and fell straight onto his backside. Everyone had a pretty good laugh. Mario wouldn’t be beaten. He kept trying to sit on the magic chair, and kept falling to the ground... until, suddenly, he tried again and didn’t fall. This time he sat, hovering (悬停) in mid-air. Looking around, Mario saw George, Lucas, and Diana — three of his best friends — holding him up, so he wouldn’t fall. At the same time, many others he had thought of as friends were doing nothing but make fun of him, enjoying each and every fall. Leaving with his three friends, Mario explained to them how his grandpa had so cleverly thought of such a good idea. Now he knows that those who take joy in our misfortunes (不幸) when we are in difficulty are not our true friends. 24. What did Mario’s grandpa take from the attic? A. An invisible chair. B. An old chair. C. A real chair. D. Nothing. 25. Why did Mario’s grandpa give him the invisible chair? A. To see whether Mario could sit on it. B. To test who were Mario’s true friends. C. To let Mario have fun with his classmates. D. To test whether Mario was popular at school. 26. How was Mario able to hover in mid-air? A. He saw the invisible chair suddenly. B. He managed to sit on the chair finally. C. His friends held him up with their hands. D. His classmates gave him a chair to sit on. 27. What does the story tell us? A. Never laugh at our friends. B. True friends can help us do magic. C. True friends are those who care for us. D. Having too many good friends isn’t a good thing. D 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段中的“Grandpa left, soon returning as though carrying something in his hand, but Mario could see nothing there. (爷爷离开了,很快就回来了,好像手里拿着什么东西,但Mario什么也没看到。)”可知,马里奥的爷爷从阁楼里没有拿任何东西。故选D。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Take it. It’s a very special chair. Because it’s invisible (无形的) it’s rather difficult to sit on, but if you take it to school and you manage to sit on it, you’ll be able to tell who your true friends are. (带走它。这是一把非常特别的椅子。因为它是隐形的,所以很难坐在上面,但如果你把它带到学校,并设法坐在上面,你就能分辨出谁是你真正的朋友。)”可知,爷爷告诉Mario如果他可以坐到这把隐形的椅子上,那么Mario就可以知道谁是自己真正的朋友。由此可知,爷爷给Mario隐形椅子的目的是为了测试谁是他真正的朋友。故选B。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第三段中的“This time he sat, hovering (悬停) in mid-air.(这次他坐着,在半空中悬停。)”和倒数第二段中的“Looking around, Mario saw George, Lucas, and Diana — three of his best friends — holding him up, so he wouldn’t fall. At the same time, many others he had thought of as friends were doing nothing but make fun of him, enjoying each and every fall.(Mario环顾四周,看到George、Lucas和Diana——他最好的三个朋友——扶着他,这样他就不会掉下去。)” 根据最后一段中的“Now he knows that those who take joy in our misfortunes (不幸) when we are in difficulty are not our true friends. (现在他知道那些在我们困难时幸灾乐祸的人不是我们真正的朋友。)”可推断,真正的朋友是在我们处于困境时,真正关心我们,帮助我们的人。倒数第二段中Mario的三个朋友的做法也证明了这一点。故选C。 (共4小题,每小题2. 5分,满分10分) Six years ago, I became friends with Helen Vendler, a famous poetry critic who died this year, after she came to a talk I gave at Harvard about my 1965-66 Fulbright year in Ireland. Our friendship was close at the outset and was deepened by many letters between us. Some critics gain notice by something new they discover in the literature they examine. Helen became the most important critic of the age by dealing with something old and basic — the fact that great poetry was, well, lovable. Her vast knowledge of it was not like anyone else’s, and she embraced (接受) the poets she admired with enthusiasm. I never asked Helen why she had come to my talk in the first place, though I had recognized her immediately. After spending a life with English and American poetry — especially the poetry of Wallace Stevens — how could I not? The tilt (倾斜) of her head, the lines around the mouth that always seemed on the edge of saying something meaningful and the sad-kind-wise eyes of the most significant literary figure since Edmund Wilson. But unlike Wilson, Helen was never forced to show off. She knew as much about American writing as Wilson, and I believe, loved it more. When recently the American Academy of Arts and Letters awarded Helen the Gold Medal for Belles Lettres and Criticism, she told me it caught her completely off guard, and joked perhaps the committee had made their decision based on her advanced age — and if so, she saw no reason to object. Shelley called poets the “unacknowledged legislators (立法者) of the world.” I never fully got that famous line. But if the legislators’ laws apply to feeling and conduct, I think he was onto something. If one reads poetry as deeply as Helen did, and stays with it, and lets it roll around in one’s head, the effect is transporting. You find yourself better understanding feelings and language. 28. What made Helen famous as a critic? A. She pushed the study of poetry a big step forward. B. She built harmonious relationships with many poets. C. She had a remarkable ability to discover new poetry. D. She focused on something old and essential about poetry. 29. In what way did Helen differ from Wilson? A. She was less engaged in English poetry. B. She cared little about gaining reputation. C. She knew more about American writing. D. She was better at using different facial expressions. 30. How did Helen feel when informed of the award? A. Surprised. B. Nervous. C. Excited. D. Grateful. 31. Why does the author mention Shelley’s line in the last paragraph? A. To offer Helen’s interpretation of the poem. B. To demonstrate Shelley’s influence on Helen. C. To recognize Helen’s approach to reading poetry. D. To highlight the similarity between Shelley and Helen. D 29. B 30. A 31. 根据第二段中的“Helen became the most important critic of the age by dealing with something old and basic — the fact that great poetry was, well, lovable.(海伦通过探讨古老而基本的东西成为了这个时代最重要的评论家——即伟大的诗歌是可爱的这一事实。)” 根据第三段中的“But unlike Wilson, Helen was never forced to show off. The Oxford Dictionary defines it as the degradation of mental state due to overconsumption of online content. It refers to the dull stuff on social media and its negative impact on brain health. “There’s an arms race to develop digital content and platforms that can grab people’s attention and compete in a digital market,” says Adam Leventhal, a professor at the University of Southern California. “Digital content and platforms that win the arms race are increasingly addictive.” Dr. Leventhal adds, “They pull people into ‘digital addiction’ and expose consumers to unhealthy content.” Though not an official diagnosis (诊断), “brain rot” can cause cognitive and emotional problems. “Too much screen time can negatively affect attention, concentration, learning, memory, emotional regulation, and social functioning,” Dr. Manwell says. “Brain rot” occurs as screen time replaces activities beneficial to the brain, such as exercise and socializing. Passive, rapid scrolling while multitasking or trying to work or study at the same time also contributes, resulting in divided and reduced attentional resources and leading to poorer learning and memory capabilities. Manwell says, “There are often also corresponding effects on the brain such as reduced gray matter and white matter, leading to damaged processing capacity and efficiency.” To fight against “brain rot”, changes can be made. Manwell suggests altering digital media habits, like taking screen breaks and limiting certain apps. There are apps to track screen time and enforce digital detox. For long-term improvement, Manwell recommends replacing screen time with activities like meditation, exercise, and learning new skills. If screen use is work-related, find alternatives like printing materials or having in-person meetings. When on a screen, focus merely on the task to decline multitasking’s negative effects. Overall, being aware and making lifestyle adjustments can help prevent and reverse (逆转) the impact of “brain rot”. 32. According to the text, what do we know about “brain rot”? A. A kind of serious disease officially diagnosed by doctors. B. The loss of cognitive abilities caused by using digital platforms. C. The negative impact of overusing digital devices on physical health. D. The decline of mental well-being due to overconsuming online materials. 33. What can we infer from Adam Leventhal’s words? A. The competition among digital contents and platforms is fierce. B. Digital platforms are developed to help people improve their mental health. C. The digital content that wins the attention competition is usually less addictive. D. The development of digital content and platforms leads to some negative effects. 34. What does the underlined phrase “digital detox” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Using digital devices frequently. B. Taking a break from digital devices. C. Giving up using digital technologies. D. Replacing with advanced digital products. 35. What is the main theme of the text? A. The harms and solutions of “brain rot”. B. The effect of addictive digital platforms. C. Every morning, she scattered (抛撒) seeds in her backyard and whispered, “Good morning, my little friends!” To her, their songs sounded like cheerful laughter, and she often laughed along with them. However, her neighbor, Mr. Thompson, didn’t share her joy. He was constantly annoyed by the birds that flew into his yard. “They’re too noisy!” he complained. “And they make such a mess in MY yard!” His sharp words made Jane feel quite uneasy, yet she refused to give up on her feathered friends. She firmly believed that every small creature deserved care. One morning, Jane discovered a small sparrow (麻雀) shaking under the fence. One of its wings looked bent at a painful angle. Filled with worry, Jane carefully picked it up and named it Pip. She placed him in a small, warm basket in a safe corner right next to the fence. A week passed. Pip was getting better but still unable to fly. One afternoon, while Jane was feeding Pip by the fence, Mr. Thompson shouted from his side, “You’re just asking for trouble!” Jane gently lifted Pip in her hands so Mr. Thompson could see him through the gaps in the fence. “Look, Mr. Thompson. Pip’s wing is hurt.” Mr. Thompson cast an impatient glance at the tiny creature. For a moment, his frown (皱眉) softened. “That wing...” he said softly, almost to himself. Just then, Jane’s mother called her from the driveway, saying they were leaving for a family visit. Jane waved a quick goodbye to Pip and hurried to the car. However, on their way home, a heavy storm broke out. Watching the trees shaking in the strong wind, Jane felt very worried about Pip, who was left all alone in the yard. The moment they pulled into the driveway, she dashed toward the backyard, calling Pip’s name. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 To her horror, the basket was empty. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At this moment, Mr. Thompson appeared with Pip. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 To her horror, the basket was empty. Jane’s heart sank as she frantically searched the yard, her voice trembling with fear as she called Pip’s name. Tears welled up in her eyes as she imagined the worst, fearing that Pip might have been blown away by the storm or hurt by the falling branches. She knelt down, scanning the ground for any sign of the little sparrow, her hands shaking as she picked up twigs and leaves. At this moment, Mr. Thompson appeared with Pip. He held the sparrow gently in his hands, his expression a mix of concern and embarrassment. “I found him hiding under my porch,” he said, his voice softer than usual. “The storm was too strong for him.” Jane rushed over, tears of relief streaming down her face as she took Pip back. She looked up at Mr. Thompson, her eyes shining with gratitude. “Thank you.” she whispered, her heart overflowing with joy and newfound respect for her neighbor. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①颤抖:tremble/shiver ②涌出:well up/spring up ③浏览:scan/look through 情绪类 ①恐惧:fear/dread ②宽慰:relief/comfort 【点睛】【高分句型1】Jane’s heart sank as she frantically searched the yard, her voice trembling with fear as she called Pip’s name.(运用了两个as引导的时间状语从句以及独立主格结构) 【高分句型2】She knelt down, scanning the ground for any sign of the little sparrow, her hands shaking as she picked up twigs and leaves.(运用了现在分词作状语、独立主格结构以及as引导的时间状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年下学期高二开学考试 英语 一、听力(共20小题,共30分) 1. 【此处可播放相关音频,请去附件查看】 What is the man’s hobby? C. True friends can help us do magic. C. True friends are those who care for us. D. Having too many good friends isn’t a good thing. (共4小题,每小题2. 5分,满分10分) Six years ago, I became friends with Helen Vendler, a famous poetry critic who died this year, after she came to a talk I gave at Harvard about my 1965-66 Fulbright year in Ireland. C. The importance of socializing in daily life. D. The impact of “brain rot” on digital device. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
