Who is the athlete you admire the most? Make a mind map about him or her.

My favourite athlete is Eric Moussambani. He is the first Olympic swimmer from Equatorial Guinea. He took part in the 100‑metre freestyle at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Eric had very difficult training conditions. He could only practise in a small hotel pool for one hour each day. When he joined the Olympics, he met huge challenges in the race. He nearly drowned but he kept going and finished the race.
I admire him because he never gives up. He does not win a medal, but he shows us the real Olympic spirit. After the Olympics, he kept practising and made great progress. Now he works as a coach to help more swimmers in his country. He teaches me that persistence is more important than winning.

My favourite athlete is Su Bingtian, the first Chinese sprinter to reach the men’s 100‑metre Olympic semi‑final.
Su started training in sprinting at a young age. For years, he met many difficulties. People once thought Asian runners could not break the 10‑second barrier in the 100‑metre race. He trained hard every day to improve his skills.
In the Tokyo Olympics, Su made history. He ran the 100‑metre race in 9.83 seconds and broke the Asian record. Although he did not win an Olympic medal, he surprised people all over the world.

The Olympic Spirit
Good morning, everyone! The Olympic spirit, to me, means friendship, respect, and never giving up. It is not only about winning medals, but about courage and perseverance when we meet difficulties.
It gives me lots of useful lessons. First, it tells me success comes from hard work. Those athletes’ stories push me to keep working for my own dreams. It also stands for excellence. Second, it shows me the importance of respect—respecting not only my teammates but also my competitors. Finally, it reminds me that participation itself is meaningful. As long as I try my best, I am already a winner.
Let’s carry the Olympic spirit in our daily life!
Thank you!
