Unit 4 Our Memory
Section B How can we improve our memory?
单元写作专题
I had to memorize 50 English words and a 3minute speech last week.
In the past, I always felt stressed when I had to give a speech.
To start with, I tried dividing the whole passage into some parts to recite.
I divided words into 5 groups of 10 and used flashcards with pictures.
I followed this method and my speech was a great success.
I have confidence in myself.
My memory has improved greatly.

Last week, I had to memorize 50 English words and a 3minute speech.
I felt confused about whether I could complete this task① until I tried “smart memorizing”. Instead of② reciting one by one, I divided words into③ 5 groups of 10 and used flashcards with pictures. As for④ the speech, I wrote key sentences on sticky notes and stuck them around my room.
Every time⑤ I passed a note, I said the sentence aloud. Before bed, I closed my eyes and “saw” the notes in order. By Friday, I could recite everything! Now my deskmate uses this “group + note” method as well. Little by little⑥, daily steps beat stress and boost memory.
So I believe⑦ as long as we use a good method, our memory can improve greatly.⑧

[主题评价]文章结构清晰,开篇点明记忆挑战的主题。主体用一般过去时介绍记忆挑战的内容和解决方法,结尾谈及感想。要点全面,时态运用正确,符合写作要求。
①②③宾语从句(I felt confused about whether…)以及句式(Instead of…;divide…into…)都是本单元学习的重点,用在这里恰到好处,体现了学以致用。
④⑤⑥⑦As for,Every time,Little by little,So I believe过渡句运用得当,使语句之间衔接自然。
⑧结尾条件状语从句(as long as…)的运用表达了作者的心得和收获。
你有遇到过与记忆有关的困难吗?请你写一则日记,记录一次你的记忆挑战,谈谈你的记忆技巧,以及如何克服困难走向成功的。

Last week, I struggled with a 4paragraph essay—I kept mixing up sentences! I felt stuck until Mum said, “Understand first, memorize later.”

I tried her way: I read the essay carefully, then wrote a short summary of each paragraph. Next, I recorded myself reading it slowly and listened while walking to school. Every time I forgot, I checked my summary, not the full text. Amazingly, by Friday I could recite it perfectly! Now I tell friends: “Don't just repeat words—learn the meaning, break it down into parts, and use your ears.” Little by little, smart steps really turn hard work into success.
How important a good method is! As long as we learn by heart, our memory can improve greatly.
