Maya’s dreams were not gentle. They were insistent, unfolding in the blank spaces of her accounting textbooks as broken lines of poetry. The future had already been drafted by her parents: a degree in business, a stable job, security. Her writing was a “pleasant hobby,” a phrase that made her pen feel like a ghost in her hand.
The conflict was not a single conversation but a quiet, constant pressure. Her father saw her notebooks as evidence of a dangerous, risky world. Her mother worried the stories were an escape from a real life that demanded practical things. Maya complied, studying spreadsheets by day, but at night, she fed a blog under a false name. That was her real voice, a whispered rebellion.
Yet, the outside world offered no sanctuary (庇护). The comments on her blog felt like an X-ray. The other writers at the workshops she attended criticized her work with a tone she couldn’t bear. Rejections from magazines carried a sharper pain — they weren’t just rejecting a hobby, but the refined craft she’d worked so hard for!
Then, a moment of recognition struck, though it came with its own cost. A literary journal accepted a story — but requested thorough revisions that would take apart its hopeful ending. For a week, Maya wrestled with it, feeling like refusing. Finally, she rewrote it. The new ending held both love and distance, ambition and sacrifice. It was published.
After that, she began volunteering at a community center, not as a famous author, but as a fellow struggler. She showed teenagers her early drafts, full of red ink and doubt. “The conflict isn’t the obstacle to your dream,” she’d tell them. “It’s the material. Don’t write a fairytale. Write the storm. And then, write the person learning to stand in the rain.”
Her ink was no longer just for dreams. It was for mapping the risky, beautiful, and completely unique territory of a real life being lived.
24.What is the root of Maya’s inner struggle?
A.Choosing between two stable jobs.
B.Living a double life between work and family.
C.Reconciling her dream with family’s expectations.
D.Striking a balance between practical existence and fantasy.
25.What does the underlined word “complied” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Obeyed. B.Approved. C.Protested. D.Puzzled.
26.What might Maya learn from her submission experience?
A.Getting published isn’t hard. B.You have to pay a fee to get recognized.
C.Standing your ground is a virtue. D.You have to compromise sometimes to succeed.
27.What is Maya’s advice to the teenagers?
A.Dream big and face setbacks fearlessly.
B.Translate life adversities into written narratives.
C.Ground your aspirations in practical preparation.
D.Choose qualified sources for literary composition.
【答案】24.C 25.A 26.D 27.B
根据第一段“The future had already been drafted by her parents: a degree in business, a stable job, security. Her writing was a “pleasant hobby,” a phrase that made her pen feel like a ghost in her hand.(她的父母已经为她规划好了未来:商科学位、一份稳定的工作、安稳的生活。她的写作只是一个“不错的爱好”,这句话让她手中的笔仿佛成了幽灵。)”以及第二段“The conflict was not a single conversation but a quiet, constant pressure.(这种矛盾并非来自某一次谈话,而是一种无声且持续的压力。)”
根据第一段“The future had already been drafted by her parents: a degree in business, a stable job, security.(她的父母已经为她规划好了未来:商科学位、一份稳定的工作、安稳的生活。)”和第二段“Maya complied, studying spreadsheets by day, but at night, she fed a blog under a false name.(Maya complied,白天学习电子表格,但是夜晚,她用化名更新博客。)”
根据第四段“A literary journal accepted a story — but requested thorough revisions that would take apart its hopeful ending. For a week, Maya wrestled with it, feeling like refusing. Finally, she rewrote it.(一本文学期刊录用了一篇故事,但要求大幅修改,要改掉充满希望的结局。整整一周Maya内心纠结,想要拒绝。最终,她重写了故事。)”可知,为了作品发表,她做出妥协,由此推断她懂得成功有时需要妥协。
27.推理判断题。根据第五段““The conflict isn’t the obstacle to your dream,” she’d tell them. “It’s the material. Don’t write a fairytale. Write the storm. And then, write the person learning to stand in the rain.”(“矛盾并不是你梦想路上的障碍,”她告诉孩子们,“它是写作素材。不要写童话。去写暴风雨。然后写下那个学会在雨中挺立的人。”)”可知,她建议青少年把生活中的困境转化为写作素材。
C
Breast cancer detection could get a boost from artificial intelligence. When AI helped examine breast X-rays, doctors caught one more cancer case per 1,000 tested individuals compared with traditional screening (筛查). The largest real-world study on AI’s potential for breast cancer screening, which included nearly 500,000 women in Germany, suggests that the software could simplify the screening process without affecting the rate of false alarms.
Germany’s breast cancer screening program requires two radiologists (放射科医生) to independently assess each patient’s breast X-rays and look for spots, abnormal masses and other strange signs. If at least one doctor suspects cancer in the four X-ray images, a third radiologist helps determine if the individual needs more tests. “We have 3 million women participating each year in this project, and 24 million pictures have to be read every year,” radiologist Katalinic says.
To see if AI could lighten the load, decision referral software was set up at 12 screening sites across the country. More than 460,000 women aged 50 to 69 took part in the study from July 2021 through late February 2023. AI marked the breast X-rays as normal, questionable or unclassified. The 119 participating radiologists chose to use an AI-supported image viewer, which revealed the software’s assessment, for roughly half of the women’s screenings.
Without the application of AI, clinicians identified about 6 breast cancer cases, confirmed through biopsy (活检), per 1,000 patients during screening. Doctors found around 7 cases with the software’s help, leading to a 17.6% higher breast cancer detection rate with AI. Compared with patients who received traditional screenings, the group checked with AI’s help had slightly fewer false positives.
How the AI would best fit into radiologists’ workflow remains an open question, but it could replace one of the initial readers, says Stefan Bunk, chief technology officer and co-founder of Vara, the health care technology company in Berlin that developed the AI.
28.What benefit does AI bring to breast cancer screening according to the study?
A.Making screening more efficient. B.Reducing false alarms significantly.
C.Bettering the clarity of X-ray images. D.Identifying more rare medical cases.
29.What can we learn about Germany’s screening program?
A.It mainly targets women aged 50 to 69. B.It places a heavy workload on radiologists.
C.It screens about 3 million images annually. D.It always requires a third radiologist’s opinion.
30.What can be inferred from the study on AI?
A.It kept track of all participants. B.AI scarcely drew right conclusions.
C.It was nearly supported by all screening sites. D.AI rarely gained a leading role in examinations.
31.Why does the author mention biopsy in paragraph 4?
A.To demonstrate its safety. B.To introduce another tool.
C.To emphasize AI’s accuracy. D.To show AI’s working logic.
【答案】28.A 29.B 30.D 31.C
根据第一段中“The largest real‑world study on AI’s potential for breast cancer screening, which included nearly 500,000 women in Germany, suggests that the software could simplify the screening process without affecting the rate of false alarms.(这项针对人工智能乳腺癌筛查潜力的最大规模真实世界研究,纳入了德国近50万名女性,表明该软件可以简化筛查流程,且不会影响误报率。)”
根据第二段中““We have 3 million women participating each year in this project, and 24 million pictures have to be read every year,” radiologist Katalinic says.(放射科医生卡塔利尼奇说:“每年有300万女性参与该项目,每年需要阅片2400万张。”)”
根据第五段中“How the AI would best fit into radiologists’ workflow remains an open question, but it could replace one of the initial readers, says Stefan Bunk, chief technology officer and co‑founder of Vara, the health care technology company in Berlin that developed the AI.(开发这款人工智能的柏林医疗科技公司Vara的首席技术官兼联合创始人斯特凡・邦克表示,人工智能如何最好地融入放射科医生的工作流程仍是一个悬而未决的问题,但它可以取代其中一名初筛阅片医生。)”
根据第四段中“Without the application of AI, clinicians identified about 6 breast cancer cases, confirmed through biopsy (活检), per 1,000 patients during screening. Doctors found around 7 cases with the software’s help, leading to a 17.6% higher breast cancer detection rate with AI.(不使用人工智能时,临床医生在筛查中每1000名患者大约检出6例经活检证实的乳腺癌病例。在该软件的辅助下,医生大约检出7例,人工智能助力下乳腺癌检出率提升了17.6%。)”可知,活检用来证实病例真实存在,以此凸显AI辅助筛查的准确性。
D
When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year. “We actually started just running everything off a laptop, and I would be there in the row coding. Chi would be making changes mechanically,” Contino, now CEO, told TechCrunch.
The result was Four Growers, which builds robots designed to autonomously harvest plants in greenhouses. The robots are programmed to identify produce at the right level of ripeness — which varies depending on a farmer’s needs — by using multiple stereo cameras to see the crops and help operate the robot’s arms to avoid nonripe fruit on the vine. The tech currently works with tomatoes and will be commercially available to harvest other crops like cucumbers in the near future.
Having enough labor to harvest crops is crucial because if crops can’t be harvested when they are ready, they rot and result in lost profits for the farm. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s 2024 labor report said the industry is facing a “critical shortage” of workers, and it won’t get better anytime soon.
Contino said they were intentional about focusing on greenhouse farms. Unlike outdoor farms, greenhouses can grow almost all year round, and are more efficient than outside farms. They also harvest on a much more frequent schedule than outdoor farms, which makes them a good candidate to buy tech.
Four Growers now works with five customers, and its robots have picked millions of tomatoes. Contino said that the company is working to expand its technology beyond just harvesting and is looking to expand into outdoor farms in the coming years. “It’s not really a labor replacement. It’s more of an augmentation (增强),” Contino said. “As the labor force shrinks, and there are fewer people willing to do it, it’s putting them to more comfortable positions and allowing one person to be able to do a lot more.”
32.What are the cameras used to do in the greenhouse?
A.Identify crops’ maturity. B.Take pictures for the ripe fruit.
C.Monitor the surroundings. D.Distinguish tomatoes from other plants.
33.Why does the author mention the 2024 labor report in paragraph 3?
A.To express concern about the farm profits.
B.To stress the necessity of harvesting robots.
C.To show the achievements of Four Growers.
D.To call for public support for the farm industry.
34.According to Contino, what makes greenhouse farms a better target for Four Growers?
A.A wider range of crops. B.Greener than outside farms.
C.A greater number of consumers. D.Higher harvesting frequency.
35.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Autonomous Tech is Coming to Farming.
B.Seed for a Farm’s Future — Farm Management.
C.Four Growers Robots Help Greenhouse Harvest.
D.Labor Shortages and Farmer Adaptation Strategies.
【答案】32.A 33.B 34.D 35.C
根据第二段“The robots are programmed to identify produce at the right level of ripeness — which varies depending on a farmer’s needs — by using multiple stereo cameras to see the crops.(这些机器人被设定为通过多台立体相机观测作物,识别出符合农户需求的成熟度等级的农产品——不同农户对成熟度的判定标准存在差异,以此辅助操作机械臂避开藤蔓上尚未成熟的果实。)”
根据第三段“Having enough labor to harvest crops is crucial because if crops can’t be harvested when they are ready, they rot and result in lost profits for the farm. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s 2024 labor report said the industry is facing a “critical shortage” of workers, and it won’t get better anytime soon.(拥有足够的劳动力来采收作物至关重要,因为如果作物在成熟时无法被及时采收,它们就会腐烂,给农场造成利润损失。美国州农业部门协会2024年的劳动力报告指出,农业正面临“严重的工人短缺”问题,且这一状况短期内不会得到改善。)”可知,作者提及美国州农业部协会的2024年的劳动力报告是为了强调当前研发采摘机器人的必要性。
34.细节理解题。根据第四段“Unlike outdoor farms, greenhouses can grow almost all year round, and are more efficient than outside farms. They also harvest on a much more frequent schedule than outdoor farms, which makes them a good candidate to buy tech.(与户外农场不同,温室农场几乎全年都可以种植作物,生产效率也比户外农场更高。同时它们的采收频次远高于户外农场,这让温室农场成为采购这类农业技术的理想对象。)”可知,温室农场有更高的收获频率,这使它成为Four Growers机器人产品的市场目标。
35.主旨大意题。通读全文,并结合第一段中“When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year.
I think a lot about productivity. I rarely feel productive. I don’t think I’m alone. Our culture is full of all kinds of ideas about how to get the most done. 36 Bosses think open offices are for increasing communication. Here are three common productivity myths, alongside studies that help us see what the research says.
Multitasking gets things done faster than focusing on one thing at a time. Right? Research suggests not. Every time you switch from one task to another there is a slight time cost. Although switch costs may be relatively small, they can add up to large amounts when people switch repeatedly. Multitasking may seem efficient on the surface but may actually take more time in the end and involve more error. 37 There is always a cost to switching.
Open office layouts are great for company culture. 38 The problem: research suggests the opposite is true. Researchers directly studied the transition to an open office plan and found face-to-face interaction actually declined by around 70 percent. It turns out that open office structures will cause a natural psychological reaction in humans, who tend to keep social distance from nearby coworkers and choose to communicate via emails instead.
Your manager probably insists group brainstorming is a proven way to come up with ideas. Except … it isn’t. Studies have indicated that students could work out tough problems much better when they were left to think independently rather than when they took part in group discussions. The participation of multiple people greatly restricts individual creative thinking. 39 A study shows that brainstorming over video conferencing is less effective than in person. In short, brainstorming in a group — whether online or offline — is much less productive than individual thinking.
40 Blindly following trends reduces efficiency. Focus on single-tasking and individual thinking instead.
A.Is modern technology of great help?
B.Is online brainstorming better than group thinking?
C.Employees believe multitasking will help get more done.
D.Open offices save companies a lot of rental costs, though.
E.Understanding these findings helps us rethink how we work.
F.Humans can’t handle several tasks at the same time like computers.
G.The idea is that tearing down walls will increase conversation between workers.
【答案】36.C 37.F 38.G 39.A 40.E
根据上文“Our culture is full of all kinds of ideas about how to get the most done. (我们的文化充斥着各种如何完成最多工作的观点)”,下文“Bosses think open offices are for increasing communication. (老板认为开放式办公室是用来增进交流的)”可知,总起段在列举人们对于高效工作的错误看法。C选项“员工认为多任务处理有助于完成更多工作” 承接上文,引出第一个效率误区,和后文并列观点呼应。
37.根据上文“Multitasking may seem efficient on the surface but may actually take more time in the end and involve more error. (多任务处理表面上看似高效,但实际上最终可能花费更多时间,还会出现更多失误)”以及下文“There is always a cost to switching. (任务切换总会产生损耗)”可知,此处解释多任务处理效率低下的原因。F选项“人类无法像电脑一样同时处理多项任务”承接前文,对多任务的弊端进行解释说明。
38.根据上文“Open office layouts are great for company culture. (开放式办公室布局对企业文化大有裨益)”以及下文“The problem: research suggests the opposite is true. (但问题在于:研究表明事实恰恰相反)”可知,空处阐述人们对开放式办公室的固有期待,与下文研究结果构成转折。G选项“这种想法就是拆掉隔墙会增加员工之间的交流”承接上文,点明人们支持开放式办公室的出发点。
39.根据下文“A study shows that brainstorming over video conferencing is less effective than in person. In short, brainstorming in a group — whether online or offline — is much less productive than individual thinking. (一项研究表明视频会议头脑风暴不如线下效果好。总而言之,无论是线上还是线下的集体头脑风暴,效率远低于独立思考)”可知,下文提到借助视频会议这一现代技术开展头脑风暴效果并不理想。A选项“现代技术用处很大吗?”提出疑问,引出下文,说明即便是现代技术加持下的线上头脑风暴,依旧效果不佳。
40.根据下文“Blindly following trends reduces efficiency. Focus on single‑tasking and individual thinking instead.(盲目跟风会降低效率。转而专注单项任务和独立思考)”可知,本段是全文结尾,总结研究发现并给出工作建议。E选项“了解这些研究结果有助于我们重新思考我们的工作方式”承接上文三个误区的研究内容,引出后文建议。

第二节(满分25分)
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Leo had always admired bridges. As a child, he would drag his grandfather to the riverside, staring at the graceful steel arches that connected two sides of the city. “Bridges are proof that humans can build something that lasts,” his grandfather, a retired civil engineer, would say. “They carry people’s trust, Leo. Never forget that.”
That belief carried Leo through college. He studied structural engineering with the passion of a poet, sketching elegant designs in his notebooks and dreaming of creating landmarks that would stand for generations. When he graduated at the top of his class, he turned down a research scholarship and took a job at a prestigious construction firm, eager to build things that mattered.
Reality hit hard. His first project was a shopping mall. His second, a luxury apartment complex for investors who cared only about profit margins. Every day, he sat in meetings where the discussion revolved around cutting costs, using cheaper materials, and shaving off safety margins to meet deadlines. “It meets the minimum standards,” his boss would say, shrugging off Leo’s concerns. “That’s good enough.”
The turning point came when Leo was assigned to a bridge project — the kind he had dreamed of. But he soon discovered the client had requested the design be modified to save money: thinner support columns, lower-grade steel. When Leo protested, his boss pulled him aside. “Listen, kid. This is how the industry works. Nobody builds monuments anymore. We build what we’re paid to build, and we cut corners where nobody will see. You want to be an idealist? Go back to school.”
That night, Leo walked to the old bridge where he used to stand with his grandfather. The city lights reflected off the water, and for the first time, he saw not beauty, but compromise — cracks in the concrete, rust on the rails that had been “scheduled for maintenance” for years. The bridge was still standing, but Leo knew it was only a matter of time. He thought of his grandfather’s words: They carry people’s trust.
The next morning, Leo arrived at the office before anyone else. On his desk lay two things: the revised bridge plans with the dangerous cost-cutting measures, and a blank letter of resignation.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
Paragraph 1: Leo picked up the resignation letter, then his eyes fell on the bridge plans.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2: Months later, Leo stood on the completed bridge, watching cars cross safely.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 1: Leo picked up the resignation letter, then his eyes fell on the bridge plans. He could walk away with a clean conscience, but the bridge would still be built, flawed and fragile, by someone else. That hurt more than staying. He put down the letter, picked up his pen, and worked nights for three weeks: recalculating loads, revising specs, building a safety case. He presented data, not emotion, showing that while initial costs would rise, long-term maintenance would fall, and liability risks would shrink. To his surprise, the client agreed to a compromise. Leo stayed.
Paragraph 2: Months later, Leo stood on the completed bridge, watching cars cross safely. The sun gleamed off the steel arches — not thinner, not weaker, but honest. Beside him, his old boss admitted, “You were right. This feels different.” Leo smiled, remembering his grandfather. The bridge wasn’t a monument, but it was trustworthy. It carried people’s lives, not just their cars. And Leo knew that integrity wasn’t about building forever — it was about building right, today, for everyone who crossed. He touched the railing, whispered “Thank you,” and walked on — still an idealist, but wiser.
①承认:admit/acknowledge
②低声说:whisper/murmur
①惊讶:surprise/astonishment/amazement
②值得信赖的:trustworthy/dependable/reliable
【点睛】[高分句型1] He presented data, not emotion, showing that while initial costs would rise, long-term maintenance would fall, and liability risks would shrink.
[高分句型2] And Leo knew that integrity wasn’t about building forever — it was about building right, today, for everyone who crossed.

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

Paragraph 1: Leo picked up the resignation letter, then his eyes fell on the bridge plans.
