B Global (全球) warming is bringing great trouble to food growth around the world and rice is especially easy to get hurt by high temperature. It grows slowly and the production is much less. Many crops even dry up and die completely. This makes farmers have bad harvests (收成) and puts local food safety in danger. To solve this serious problem, Chinese scientists have worked hard, in both labs and test fields for years, and finally developed a new kind of rice successfully. On December 3, 2025, their research result was published in Cell, a famous international science magazine. This new rice can survive high temperatures—it can live through different levels of high temperatures. How can this special rice stay safe in high temperatures? When high heat reaches its cells, two special genes (基因)—DGK7 and MdPDE1—start working at once. First, the DGK7 gene helps the cell make a special chemical signal (信号). Next, this chemical signal travels inside the cell, reaches the MdPDE1 gene, and turns it on. Then the MdPDE1 gene helps the cell make a second chemical signal. Finally, this second signal makes many other helpful genes in the cell start working. They all work together to help the rice get used to hot conditions quickly.   ▲ To create this amazing rice, scientists used a special tool, CRISPR-Cas9, to improve these two genes. After many experiments, they carefully put the improved genes into rice plants. This new rice not only protects its pollen (花粉)—which is very important for rice production—from being hurt by heat, but also keeps growing healthily in high temperatures. It makes sure there is enough food as the world gets warmer. It also helps farmers get more harvests even in very hot years, bringing new hope to global food safety. However, there are still some practical problems to solve before it can help more farmers around the world. 24. What does the underlined word “it” refer to in Paragraph 3? A. The cell. B. The DGK7 gene. C. The MdPDE1 gene. D. The chemical signal. 25. Which sentence can be put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4? A. Many countries are interested in this new rice. B. So how did scientists develop this kind of rice? C. Farmers also took part in the new rice research. D. The two genes are not helpful for common rice at all. 26. Which of the following statements does the writer agree with? A. The new rice may be of great help to farmers in the future. B. Scientists have solved the problems of food safety already. C. CRISPR-Cas9 is the only tool to improve rice genes at present. D. The research result was published in a Chinese magazine in 2025. 27. What will the writer most probably talk about next? A. How global warming started and how it hurts crops. B. Why common rice cannot grow well in hot weather. C. How this gene technology is different from other technologies. D. What practical problems need solving before farmers grow the new rice. C The police have many ways of catching criminals (罪犯). One way of catching them is by fingerprinting. Fingerprinting is the study of the patterns on our fingertips. We have known that no two fingerprints are exactly the same for hundreds of years. However, it wasn’t until 1910 that the first criminal in the USA was convicted (被判有罪) using fingerprint evidence. Early on the morning of September 19, 1910, Hiller’s wife noticed that the light which they usually left on was off. When Hiller went to find out what was happening, he saw a stranger at the top of the stairs. The stranger had broken in and wanted to steal. Hiller and the stranger started to fight, but the stranger had a gun. He shot Hiller twice and ran away. Hiller’s wife ran to Hiller when she heard the gunshots (枪声) but found him dead. So she called the police. Soon after, the police caught Thomas Jennings, not far from Hiller’s house. The only problem was no one saw the criminal. However, the police had started using fingerprinting at that time. According to Hiller’s wife, only several hours before Hiller’s death, he had painted some wood near the kitchen window. Then the police checked the wood completely and found some fingerprints in the wet paint. During the trial (审判), the police proved that the fingerprints belonged to Jennings, and he was convicted of Hiller’s murder. Since then, fingerprinting has helped in the conviction of hundreds of thousands of criminals. 28. What helped the police convict the murderer (凶手) of Hiller? A. B. C. D. 29. Which paragraph shows how Hiller was killed? A. Paragraph 1. B. Paragraph 2. C. Paragraph 3. D. Paragraph 4. 30. How does the writer end the passage? A. By drawing a conclusion. B. By giving a boring ending. C. By asking a question. D. By showing a discussion. Five Tips to Improve Your Memory Most of us know that our brains become smaller in size as we get older, but do you know diet and lifestyle have an effect on how well our brains work? The ice rink covers about one-third of the playground. Experienced skaters go around the outside, while beginners practise in the centre. PE teachers watch them closely, giving lessons and making sure of their safety. Now the school even keeps the ice rink open after school and on weekends. The school is not the only one finding creative ways to keep kids active. At Beijing No.12 High School Taipingqiao Campus, students choose sports tools, like jump ropes, hula hoops (呼啦圈), and sandbags — all prepared by the school, depending on students’ interests. The school gives students a 30-minute break each morning and afternoon to play and exercise. In Guangdong Province, smart sports are becoming popular. Xinsha Primary School in Shenzhen uses an AI sports system — a screen that guides students through exercises like jumping jacks (开合跳) and sit-ups. “The top 10 students each month get to compete (竞争) with the principal (校长),” said Wang Yaqiong, a teacher at the school. “This makes students excited to exercise. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇剧本对话,讲述男孩尼尔斯因虐待动物被小精灵变成小人儿,随后被动物们追赶的故事。 【1题详解】 句意:他的父母在门边,准备离开。 be ready to do sth. 固定搭配be sorry about sth.表示“为某事感到抱歉”,符合Nils为之前欺负动物的行为道歉的语境,应用about。to“到”,with“和”,at“在”搭配不当。 【10题详解】 句意:动物们,它们很生气,迅速追赶他。 此处是定语从句,先行词是the animals,关系词用which在从句中作主语。where“哪里”,when“什么时候”,why“为什么”不符合逻辑。 第二节: 阅读下面短文,理解大意,然后从各小题的四个选项中选出一个最佳答案,使短文连贯完整。 “Dad, can you see the ceremony?” “Yes, I see it!” said the father with ____11____. A girl is shouldering her father so that he can watch the national flag-raising ceremony at Tian’anmen Square in Beijing, China. The heartwarming act has ____12____ thousands of people. 【答案】24. C 25. B 26. A 27. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了全球变暖影响水稻生长,中国科学家成功研发出耐高温新品种水稻,阐述了其基因原理、培育过程及对粮食安全的意义,并指出推广前仍需解决实际问题。 【24题详解】 由第三段中的句子“Next, this chemical signal travels inside the cell, reaches the MdPDE1 gene, and turns it on.”判断,代词“it”指代前文最近的单数名词,句中化学信号到达MdPDE1基因并开启它,因此“it”指代的是前文提到的“The MdPDE1 gene”。 【25题详解】 后文“To create this amazing rice, scientists used a special tool, CRISPR-Cas9, to improve these two genes.”开始讲解科学家培育这种水稻的方法,因此空格处应提出问题“科学家如何培育这种水稻?”,选项B的表述符合语境。 【26题详解】 第四段中的句子“It also helps farmers get more harvests even in very hot years, bringing new hope to global food safety.”表明,这种新水稻能给全球粮食安全带来新希望,说明未来可能对农民有很大帮助,选项A的表述“这种新水稻在未来可能会对农民有很大帮助”更符合作者观点。 【27题详解】 第四段最后一句“However, there are still some practical problems to solve before it can help more farmers around the world.”提到,在帮助更多农民之前还有一些实际问题需要解决,因此接下来最有可能讨论这些具体问题,选项D“在农民种植这种新水稻之前,需要解决哪些实际问题”是作者接下来最有可能谈论的话题。 C The police have many ways of catching criminals (罪犯). 【答案】28. B 29. B 30. A 【解析】 【导语】本文讲述指纹证据帮助警方侦破美国这起凶杀案的经过,介绍指纹技术在抓捕罪犯上的作用。 【28题详解】 原文第五段“During the trial, the police proved that the fingerprints belonged to Jennings, and he was convicted of Hiller’s murder.”,这句话说明是指纹证据帮助警方给凶手定罪。 【29题详解】 原文第二段“He shot Hiller twice and ran away.”,本段讲述了Hiller遇袭遇害的完整过程。 【30题详解】 原文第五段“Since then, fingerprinting has helped in the conviction of hundreds of thousands of criminals.”,这句话是对全文内容做总结,作者以得出结论的方式结束文章。 第二节: 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Five Tips to Improve Your Memory Most of us know that our brains become smaller in size as we get older, but do you know diet and lifestyle have an effect on how well our brains work? The school gives students a 30-minute break each morning and afternoon to play and exercise. In Guangdong Province, smart sports are becoming popular. Xinsha Primary School in Shenzhen uses an AI sports system — a screen that guides students through exercises like jumping jacks (开合跳) and sit-ups. “The top 10 students each month get to compete (竞争) with the principal (校长),” said Wang Yaqiong, a teacher at the school. “This makes students excited to exercise.
