15 years ago, my parents bought a small house in the countryside, which they used for holidays. After I was born, we started to go to the holiday house more often. We used to drive 3 hours to get to our lovely house every Friday evening.
During the week, my parents worked in London. My two brothers and I went to expensive private schools. We were all very busy. We hardly saw each other. We had several babysitters (临时保姆) as our parents had to work long hours. The only time we could be together was the weekend, and that was my happiest time. However, every Sunday morning was torture because we had to leave the house then. We all hated the idea of leaving the beautiful countryside and our friends there.
Last year, my dad had had enough of it. He sold our big house near London and my parents gave up their jobs. They bought a smaller car. We are now living in our holiday house—two adults, three kids and a dog. My parents got jobs that allow them to work from home. We no longer have babysitters.
The best change for me is that now my brothers and I go to a small local school. After school, we get on our bikes and ride around to see friends. My life is just so different. We feel calm and happy. We have fewer things, but for me, it seems that we have so much more. I am so glad we have changed our way of life.

China Enters a New Period of Low-Altitude Passenger Flights
On 28 March, 2025, China took a historic step in transportation by issuing (颁布) the world’s first operation certificates (操作证书) for passenger-carrying drones. These certificates allow companies to offer paid services using self-flying electric aircraft called eVTOLs This marks the start of a “passenger period” for low-altitude flights in China.
EHang’s EH216-S,a two-seat electric aircraft, is the first drone to pass all safety tests and get four key permits(许可).It can fly up to 30 kilometres at 130 km/h and has finished over 60,000 safe test flights since 2021. Now, people in cities like Guangzhou and Hefei can book short flights, just like ordering a taxi online. For example, Hefei’s Luogang Park will soon offer air tours, with tickets priced between 500 and 800 yuan per ride.
China’s government has strongly supported this technology. Cities like Guangzhou and Hefei have built special takeoff/landing spots and created rules to ensure safety. By 2027, Guangzhou plans to have 100 such spots across the city. Experts say low-altitude flights could help reduce traffic jams and improve emergency services, like sending medical supplies.
Globally, China is leading in this field. While countries like the US are still testing, China has already started selling tickets. EHang, the first eVTOL company to make money, launched 216 aircraft in 2024 and aims to grow its services.
In the future, more cities may open “air taxi” routes, letting people fly to work or travel. As one EHang engineer said, “Flying cars are no longer science fiction—they’re here.” With strong tech and policy support, China’s sky is becoming a new road for everyone.

A项“And nobody threw rubbish into it.”
B项“Local people no longer drank the water.”
D项“He worked very hard and finally was able to buy a powerboat to catch fish.”
E项“With the only homestay in Gusheng Village at that time, He could get more than 40,000 yuan a year.”
C项“It was really hard for me to accept at first.”

根据第一段“make their hometown better”可知,此处指家乡。
give up“放弃”符合,get up“起床”、look up“查阅”、put up“搭建”均不契合。
