Show Your Best Self with Body Language
Did you know that the way you stand, move, and look at others can say a lot even before you speak? This is called body language, and it is a powerful part of how we communicate every day.
Your body language can show if you are confident, friendly, nervous, or even bored. Using positive body language helps people understand you better and makes conversations more comfortable for everyone.
Here are some simple tips to use your body language to communicate well:
• Stand tall like a strong tree. Keep your back straight and your shoulders relaxed. This shows confidence and respect.
• Make eye contact. Looking gently into the other person’s eyes shows you are listening and interested.
• Smile when it feels right. A warm smile makes you seem kind and warm.
• Use your hands to help explain. Small, natural hand movements can make your words clearer and more exciting.
But there are also things to avoid:
• Do not look down at the floor. It can make you seem shy or unsure.
• Do not cross your arms strongly. This might look like you are closed off or sad.
• Do not hide your face with your hair. It stops your expression and makes it harder for others to connect with you.
Remember, how you say something is just as important as what you say. When you use kind, open, and confident body language every day, you show others the real, best version of yourself.

April 8 is International Rare Animal Protection Day. What do you think about animal protection work? Is it only about caring for cute animals?
For 38 year old Huang Hongxiang, who has protected wildlife for 13 years, that’s what many people get wrong.
“Human activities are the main reason why animals are endangered, like illegal (非法的) hunting and destroying too much of nature,” Huang said. “So wildlife protection is more about dealing with humans, not animals.”
Huang’s main job is to stop people from buying and selling wild animals illegally. He has worked in South Africa and Southeast Asia. Now, he and his team are dealing with underground shops that sell pangolins (穿山甲) in Laos.
“Though we have done a lot, there are still people selling pangolins in Laos,” Huang said. “But just feeling disappointed does not help. We need to keep looking for solutions.”
By reporting the trade of pangolins to local governments, Huang’s team has saved many pangolins. They also use social media to teach more people about the pangolins trade in Laos, which puts stress on local governments to take stronger action. As Huang said, “Wild animal protection takes time and improves step by step.” Huang also organizes study programs for teenagers to learn more about protecting animals.
“I want young people to understand that wildlife protection needs professional skills. It’s not easy or exciting,” Huang said. “If they understand the challenges early, they can be more ready to help the world when they grow up.”

C. Thinking about Lovely Animals D. Real Work in Animal Protection
C 30. B 31. B 32. D

To fly high into space, Chinese astronauts are practicing their skills by going underground.
A cave (山洞) in the mountains of Wulong district, Chongqing, hosted China’s first astronaut cave training program. This training took place in December 2025. The astronauts were put into four groups. Each group stayed in the cave for six days and five nights, working on tasks like scientific research and life support.
Caves are similar to space in many ways. Astronauts were cut off from the outside world and had little room to move. These situations can be copied at usual training sites, but a natural cave offers the best experience.
Dark, cold (only about 8℃) and wet, the cave was full of narrow passages and steep walls. Dangers like falling stones or getting lost helped astronauts learn to carefully and quickly stop, think, and act.
The training also made astronauts mentally stronger. Jiang Yuan, who helped train the astronauts, shared the stress she felt when she tried the program herself. “The biggest challenge was the darkness,” said Jiang. “I didn’t know what time it was, my memory got fuzzy and my movements slowed.” Astronaut Zhu Yangzhu noted the strange silence—just like in space. “We could hear our own heartbeat and breath,” he said.
The European Space Agency (ESA) started developing cave training in 2005. “Compared to the European training, our support team got in the way as little as possible,” said Ye Guangfu, one of the astronauts in the Chongqing program. “This let astronauts trust themselves and solve problems on their own.”
33. Why was a real cave used as a training site?
A. It had more light. B. It cost less money.
C. It was easier to get to. D. It felt more like space.
34. What did the training help astronauts do in dangerous situations?
A. Do things as fast as possible. B. Stay quiet to make them kind.
C. Make smart choices right away. D. Ask their support team for help.
35. What does the underlined word “fuzzy” mean in Paragraph 5?
A. Good. B. Rich. C. Unclear. D. Useless.
36. What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph?
A. Chinese training was harder. B. Support teams helped more.
C. ESA began training first in the world. D. Chinese astronauts worked alone more.
D 34. C 35. C 36. D
根据第三段第一句“Caves are similar to space in many ways.”以及后文“These situations can be copied at usual training sites, but a natural cave offers the best experience.”
根据第四段最后一句“Dangers like falling stones or getting lost helped astronauts learn to carefully and quickly stop, think, and act.”
根据第五段蒋媛的话“I didn’t know what time it was, my memory got fuzzy and my movements slowed.”
根据最后一段叶光富的话“Compared to the European training, our support team got in the way as little as possible... This let astronauts trust themselves and solve problems on their own.”

want to意为“想要”,plan to意为“计划”,offer to意为“主动提出”,均不符合“逐渐理解”的语境。

Wang Yao has written a book review about Around the World in Eighty Days.
Around the World in Eighty Days is a famous adventure novel by Jules Verne. It tells the story of Phileas Fogg, a quiet and rich man from London. He bets (打赌) £20,000 that he can travel around the world in eighty days. He takes his new butler (管家), Passepartout, with him. On their journey, they meet Aouda, a young woman they save in India, and Inspector Fix, a detective (侦探) who wrongly thinks Mr. Fogg stole money from a bank.
In the end, Mr. Fogg wins the bet! He arrives in London one day early because he gained a day by travelling eastward around the world. He marries Aouda and finds true happiness.
My favourite part happens in India. Mr. Fogg and Passepartout are running to catch a train. They are very late. Passepartout runs so fast that he loses his shoes and has to run without wearing shoes. Later, they save Aouda from a dangerous ceremony (仪式). Aouda’s husband had already died, and people wanted her to die too. Mr. Fogg also helps a stranger in America who is hurt during an attack, even though it makes him lose more time.
I think this book is really worth reading. Mr. Fogg pays for Aouda’s travel all the way. Near the end, he spends almost all his money renting (租借) a steamship across the Atlantic Ocean so they can reach England on time.
61. How much does Mr. Fogg bet?
________________________________________________________________
62. How early does Mr. Fogg arrive in London?
________________________________________________________________
63. In which country does Passepartout lose his shoes?
________________________________________________________________
64. What quality does Mr. Fogg have after reading the text? Explain it in 30 words or more.
________________________________________________________________
61. £20,000/20,000 pounds/Twenty thousand pounds.
62. A/One day (early).
63. (In) India.
64. A possible version: Mr. Fogg is kind and brave. He pays for Aouda’s trip, helps a stranger in America, and even spends nearly all his money to get a steamship so they won’t be late. He cares more about people than money or winning. (参考点:kind, brave, honest, keep promises, care more about people than money or time等)

25. What does Paragraph 1 mainly talk about?
A. What body language is. B. What body language does.
C. How body language works. D. How body language appears.

C. raising their voice D. crossing arms strongly
28. What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards using body language?
A. Worried and curious. B. Angry and nervous.
C. Encouraging and positive. D. Confused and doubtful.

29. Huang says wild animals are in danger because of ________.
A. diseases B. pollution C. human activities D. climate change
30. What does Huang’s team do in Laos?
A. Build homes for pangolins. B. Report illegal animal sales.
C. Buy pangolins to save them. D. Train pangolins to run away.
31. The underlined word “they” refers to ________ in the last paragraph.
A. wild animals B. young people C. pangolins sellers D. local governments
32. What is the best title for the text?
A. A Man Who Loves Pangolins B. Traveling to Protect Wildlife
C. Thinking about Lovely Animals D. Real Work in Animal Protection
