List the ways you use to learn English and point out the difficulties you have in learning.
$So why aren't you getting those projects done? Hm, let's look into the research. There's fear of failure. Sometimes those big important tasks are just so daunting we don't even know where to begin. And inevitably we leave everything into the last possible moment at two thousand and twelve. Study finds that when we fear failure, we are actually desire control, control of the outcome. Ironically, procrastinating gives us a sense of control. Or maybe you're the creative side, and ideas just can't be forced. Everyone knows artists are a little flake at times, but their procrastinating nature might actually help their creative juices keep flowing. If you are unnoticed yourself, you probably agree with this. You hate deadlines, and you find them only discouraging you from your best. Where researchers coined the term unfinished tasks to explain this, see when we abandoned a project. And let is do on our minds, for the next few weeks, we get all kinds of new innovative ideas. If we had simply rushed through the test and completed IT as fast as possible, guess what happens? A creative block. Creativity cannot be forced. Just a small luck. We also have a video on signs, you a creative soul, if you wants to check that out later, perhaps you are creative soul and you just haven't discovered IT yet. Up next, perfectionism, we procrastinate. We just don't care. We've given up. We've abandoned our projects and say whatever, right? According to research that actually couldn't be further from the truth, crostini is linked with perfectionism, but this isn't necessarily a good thing. Perfectionism has also been linked with a ton of other issues, like anxiety and depression. When we go through our projects with a fine tooth comb looking for perfection, IT takes a real toll. Honnami tal state, once again, this is something we totally relate to. Anyone else. Maybe you're an evening person. Remember those early mornings during high school? Remember how heart IT was to focus on pretty much anything. Maybe you're still going through this every morning and the world of psychology, this is known as evening less, which basically means you're definitely not a morning person and if you're part of this exclusive club for restoration, might be a big part of your life. Studies have shown that undergraduate students who procrastinate are much more likely to exhibit evening this. How many of our viewers wait until the dead of the night to get started on projects? Well, now you know why this perhaps is linked to creativity to and focus during the nights, or maybe you make great decisions pulled on the second class instance actually results in Better decision making um in a book called weight, the art of delay expert Frank partner argues that we make the best possible decisions when we wait until the very last second. In the psychological world, this is called managing delay. Basically, modern studies remind us that procrastination ation is inevitable. Instead of avoiding IT entirely, we should learn how to procrastinate a pro. Or maybe you struggle. Self doubt. One study link to crostini with negative self perception. When we doubt ourselves, it's very easy to wonder what is and take criticism too hardened. It's OK to a doubt yourself, meaning yourself, aware of your own potential limitations. But don't let this be a reason for your procrastination. Or seven, you don't practice mindfulness. So what? And we do to help with procrastination? Search shows that most procrastinators don't practice mindfulness meditation. So this simple exercise might really help if you can't seem to get anything done. We have to admit this makes total sense. After all, mindfulness is all about living in the moment in the here and now. And those projects need to get done here and now. Mindfulness is definitely trending right now, and IT seems to work wonders with issues that we all struggle with. Which of these points did you relate to self doubt being a perfectionist or all of the above?

The text is about procrastination (putting off important tasks), why people procrastinate, its negative effects, and how to overcome it.
Read the text. What is Cathy’s problem? Choose the best option.
She finds it difficult to write good essays.
She often delays doing important tasks.
She gets very worried about exams.
Do you think it’s a common problem?

Why do people procrastinate?
People procrastinate because of negative feelings (fear, worry about failure or bad grades).
What’s the vicious cycle (恶性循环) of procrastination?
fear/worry→ escape failure → procrastination → more failures → more negative emotions → further procrastination

How can we overcome procrastination?
Deal with negative feelings (forgive ourselves, accept imperfection, see difficulty as a chance to grow).
Face fears, break tasks into small parts, reward yourself, remove distractions (study in the library, turn off phones).
I think breaking big tasks into small parts is the most useful method. It reduces my fear of difficult work. By finishing small steps one by one and setting tiny deadlines, I can start easily and avoid procrastination in my daily study.
Among these anti-procrastination methods, which one is the most useful for you? How will you apply it to your daily study?

Cathy knew that she had an essay due on Monday. However, instead of beginning work on it today, she waited until the last minute and started on Sunday night. Of course, it was impossible to do a good job writing an essay in one night, so she got a bad grade. She then kicked herself for not starting earlier and promised to do better next time, but she didn’t.
However, instead of beginning work on it today, she waits until the last minute, and starts work on Sunday night.

Does Cathy’s story sound familiar? Like Cathy, many of us procrastinate—we put off doing something important until the last moment. But why do we do this? Some research shows that we procrastinate because of negative feelings, such as fear or worry. We are afraid of doing a poor job or getting bad grades. We think that we might fail. We put off doing the work in order to avoid having these bad feelings. Sadly, we are more likely to fail or do poorly when we procrastinate. This creates even more negative feelings and makes it more likely that we will procrastinate the next time.

2. We put off doing the work in order to avoid having these bad feelings.

makes it + adj. + that从句,it作形式宾语,that从句作真正宾语
The long-term solution to this problem is to deal with our negative feelings. We need to forgive ourselves for failing. We need to accept that sometimes we will not meet the goal. We also need to realize that difficult work isn’t always a bad thing. It is through difficulty that we learn and grow.

So what can we do? Here are some tips. First, realize that once we face our fears and get started, our fears often go away, and we start to enjoy the work. Second, break large projects into small parts, each with their own smaller deadline. Take each thing step by step. Third, reward yourself for getting a step done. Relax or do something fun, then get back to work. Finally, remove temptation. This means if you watch TV to put off work, then work at the library. If you chat with friends to put off work, then work alone and turn off your phone. Find a place to work that does not have such distractions.

1. that引导陈述句宾语从句,无词义,非正式书写可省略(多个宾语从句并列时,第二个 that 不能省);
引导宾语从句的常见关联词有that、if、whether、what、who、where、why和how等。
e.g. Mary thinks (that) the teams were just fantastic.
I believe (that) reading is important for learning.
Grandma still remembers (that) you love cookies.
that
I wonder if / whether there will be races again next year.
I want to know if / whether you read English books outside class.
I wonder if / whether you could help me.
if / whether
e.g. I’m thinking of whether we should go to see the film.
2) 与or not直接连用
e.g. I don’t know whether or not they can get there on time.
I don’t know whether / if she will go to Beijing tomorrow.
The boy didn’t believe that his cat died.
Do you know if / whether Lucy will go to Beijing to have a meeting tomorrow?
I know (that) Jack is a hard-working student.
I know (that) he will take the exam.
Jenny knows the man was flying a kite at that time.
Linda didn’t say if her aunt was still with them.
Dad told me that the sun rises in the east.
Teresa told her son that leaves turn yellow in autumn.
