When I was a boy, my family lived across a river from the main road. The only way to our house was an old wooden swinging bridge. We lived right next to CampCaesar, which held camps all summer long. The best part was its public swimming pool. I spent almost every day of my summers there.
One day, I went to the pool but found none of my friends there. I stayed for a while but felt lonely. So I left early and walked home sadly.
When I got to the swinging bridge, I saw my dog, Doobie, waiting for me. He was never allowed at the pool. He stood on the bridge with a smiling face and a wagging tail. I hurried across to hug him. Then we both ran down to the river below our house to swim. We jumped into the cold, clear water. We swam around each other, splashed, and played with a stick. Doobie happily chased my loneliness away with his doggie kisses, Of all those summers, that is the day l remember most.
The summers in life fly by so fast. They are too valuable to waste a moment feeling sad. Spend your days like Doobie did: sharing love and joy. As you swim down the river of life, always remember that love will be there to greet you at the end.

The European Union (欧盟) plans to introduce an app to help protect kids online by checking their age.
An age-checking app developed by the EU to protect children from unsafe online content is ready, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in April.
In the past, some adult websites only asked whether users were over 18, and people could simply click"yes" to enter. With this new app, however, users will need to show proof (证明) of their age to visit these websites.
Countries such as France and Italy have already begun testing the app. When it is fully ready, people will be able to download it from an app store, set it up with their passport or ID card, and use it to prove their age.
Some people have raised concerns. For example, they worry that children may still find ways around the app, such as by using a VPN (虚拟专用网络) or asking an older brother or sister for help.
However, the EU says the main goal is to prevent children from accidentally seeing harmful content, not to control what people do online.
