At the Boxing County Lyuju Opera Troupe, in east China’s Shandong province, Liu Ning, 41 and his student Wang Chenglong, 24 were rehearsing Sisters’Marriage Switch, a classic from Lyuju Opera.
As one of the major local operas, Lyuju Opera was put on China’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2008. “During festivals, villages in my hometown would stage operas. My grandmother always took me along, though I only watched for fun at the beginning,” Wang recalled. His artistic awakening came during a Maoqiang (another Shandong opera style) performance. “Charmed, I registered in Maoqiang training after junior high, unprepared for the rigors.”
The training was extremely strict: a short section of recitation, only eight words, needs to be practiced for a whole week until there is no mistake in posture, expression, or tone, and if there was a small mistake in the position of the tongue, it meant starting over. Because of this difficulty, Wang gave up. But his later factory work taught him life’s hardships. Learning from experience, he seized a second chance through registration in the local Lyuju Opera Class. As graduation approached, Wang heard that young actors were needed in the Boxing County Lyuju Opera Troupe, so he chose to join and stay in this troupe.
Today, he has become a leading drama expert, and he is also actively promoting new media communication. On Tiktok, he has nearly 30,000 fans, many of whom are local people, and a large number of young people are attracted to it. He shared his own performances and those of his daily life of training, which received a lot of attention and praise.
In fact, Lyuju Opera still has a very large elderly audience in many areas of Shandong. Liu said, “Today, the attraction of Lyuju Opera in Boxing county is still very strong. Performances may not need the top stage, or even a stage, they occur in the local communities, hidden in every corner of Boxing.”
4. Why did Wang Chenglong decide to go after opera training after junior high?
A. He was attracted by a Maoqiang peformance.
B. He intended to promote national cultural heritage.
C. He wanted to escape the hardships of factory work.
D. He was encouraged to join the troupe by his grandmother.
5. What does the underlined word in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Surprise. B. Excitement. C. Difficulty. D. Sadness.
6. How has Wang Chenglong contributed to the promotion of Lyuju Opera?
A. By performing on large stages in major cities.
B. By organizing large-scale opera festivals in Shandong.
C. By teaching opera to elderly audiences in local communities.
D. By using social media to share his performances and training.
7. Which of the following words can best describe Wang Chenglong?
A. Strict and traditional. B. Devoted and adaptable.
C. Open-minded and determined. D. Kind and generous.
A 5. C 6. D 7. B

根据第二段中“His artistic awakening came during a Maoqiang (another Shandong opera style) performance. “Charmed, I registered in Maoqiang training after junior high, unprepared for the rigors. (他的艺术觉醒来自于一场茂腔(另一种山东戏曲风格)表演。“被迷住了,初中毕业后我就报名参加了茂腔培训,当时没有预料到其中的艰苦。”)”可知,王成龙初中毕业后决定追求戏曲培训是因为他被一场茂腔表演吸引了。故选A。
根据第二段中“His artistic awakening came during a Maoqiang (another Shandong opera style) performance. “Charmed, I registered in Maoqiang training after junior high, unprepared for the rigors. (他的艺术觉醒来自于一场茂腔(另一种山东戏曲风格)表演。“被迷住了,初中毕业后我就报名参加了茂腔培训,当时没有预料到其中的rigors。”)”和第三段中“The training was extremely strict: a short section of recitation, only eight words, needs to be practiced for a whole week until there is no mistake in posture, expression, or tone, and if there was a small mistake in the position of the tongue, it meant starting over. (培训极其严格:一小段只有八个字的朗诵,需要练习一整周,直到姿势、表情或语调都没有错误,如果舌头位置有一点小错误,就意味着要重新开始。)”可知,这里说的是培训的艰苦和困难,所以rigors意思是“困难”,与Difficulty意思相符。故选C。
【6题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“Today, he has become a leading drama expert, and he is also actively promoting new media communication. On Tiktok, he has nearly 30,000 fans, many of whom are local people, and a large number of young people are attracted to it. 【7题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“The training was extremely strict: a short section of recitation, only eight words, needs to be practiced for a whole week until there is no mistake in posture, expression, or tone, and if there was a small mistake in the position of the tongue, it meant starting over. 和第四段“Today, he has become a leading drama expert, and he is also actively promoting new media communication. On Tiktok, he has nearly 30,000 fans, many of whom are local people, and a large number of young people are attracted to it. He shared his own performances and those of his daily life of training, which received a lot of attention and praise.
C
In an era filled with short videos, 15-second social media posts, and endless phone notifications, deep reading — the slow, focused practice of engaging with long texts — is often seen as an outdated habit. However, growing research in brain science and education warns that the decline of deep reading is quietly harming young people’s intellectual and emotional growth.
According to a 2025 study by the American Psychological Association, teenagers’ average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds in 2010 to just 8 seconds in 2025 — even shorter than a goldfish’s. Researchers link this directly to the rise of “skimming culture,” where people scan digital content for key words instead of reading carefully. While skimming is useful for processing large amounts of information fast, it cannot replace the cognitive benefits of deep reading.
Unlike skimming, deep reading requires continuous focus and critical thinking. When reading long, complex texts, our brains connect ideas, follow logical arguments, and imagine described scenes. This strengthens the prefrontal cortex (前额叶皮层) — the brain area controlling decision-making, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. A 2024 Stanford University study found that students who did regular deep reading scored 23% higher on critical thinking tests than those who only read short digital content.
Beyond cognitive gains, deep reading fosters empathy. Reading literary stories lets us step into characters’ lives, share their feelings, and see the world through their eyes. This helps young people understand others — a vital skill in an increasingly divided world.
Critics argue deep reading is inefficient in the digital age, where information is abundant and time limited. But this misses the point: deep reading is not just about learning facts. It builds the ability to understand, analyze, and care about the world. As leading brain scientist Maryanne Wolf said: “We read not only to know others’ experiences, but to become people who think deeply, feel deeply, and act wisely.”
8. What is the purpose of mentioning goldfish in the text?
A. To show goldfish have short attention spans.
B. To compare human and fish brain structures.
C. To criticize teenagers’ screen addiction.
D. To highlight teens’ even shorter attention span.
9. What is directly supported by the 2024 Stanford study?
A. Deep reading strengthens the prefrontal cortex.
B. Skimming helps process information quickly.
C. Deep reading improves critical thinking test scores.
D. Attention spans have dropped since 2010.
10. What is the author’s attitude toward the critics’ view?
A. He thinks it ignores something.
B. He finds it completely wrong.
C. He agrees with their concern.
D. He is unsure about the truth.
11. What is the main idea of the text?
A. Skimming works better than deep reading now.
B. Less deep reading hurts young people’s growth.
C. Short videos and social media lengthen people’s attention.
D. Young people think deep reading is old-fashioned.
D 9. C 10. A 11. B
根据第二段中的“According to a 2025 study by the American Psychological Association, teenagers’ average attention span has dropped from 12 seconds in 2010 to just 8 seconds in 2025 — even shorter than a goldfish’s. (根据一份美国心理学会2025年的研究,青少年的平均注意力时长已经从2010年的12秒下降到2025年仅8秒——甚至比一条金鱼的(注意力时长)更短。)”可知,文中提及金鱼是为突出青少年注意力时长变得更短。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“A 2024 Stanford University study found that students who did regular deep reading scored 23% higher on critical thinking tests than those who only read short digital content. (斯坦福大学2024年的一项研究发现,经常进行深度阅读的学生,其批判性思维测试分数比只阅读简短数字内容的学生高出23%。)”可知,该研究直接佐证深度阅读能提升批判性思维测试成绩。
【10题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Critics argue deep reading is inefficient in the digital age, where information is abundant and time limited. But this misses the point: deep reading is not just about learning facts. (批评者称在信息海量、时间有限的数字时代,深度阅读效率低下。但这种观点忽略了重点:深度阅读不只是为了获取事实。)”可知,作者认为批评者的观点遗漏了关键层面。
【11题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“However, growing research in brain science and education warns that the decline of deep reading is quietly harming young people’s intellectual and emotional growth. (然而,不断增多的在脑科学和教育方面的研究警告,深度阅读的下降正在悄悄地伤害年轻人的智力和情绪成长。)”可知,文章围绕数字时代深度阅读逐渐流失展开,层层论证缺少深度阅读会对青少年成长造成负面影响,所以“更少的深度阅读损害青少年的成长”能够完整概括全文核心。
D
You’ve just finished studying for an important exam. Instead of checking your phone, you listen to music for 10 minutes. New research says this simple choice can greatly change what your brain remembers and what it forgets.
Study co-authors Kayla Clark from Rice University and Stephanie Leal from UCLA have discovered something that changes what we thought about music and memory. Their study reveals that music played shortly after learning doesn’t simply help or hurt memory. Instead, it creates a trade-off: the same music that helps you remember the big picture might make you forget important details, while music that preserves fine details could blur (模糊) your overall understanding.
The research recruited 130 college students for a memory experiment with everyday household objects. Participants first looked at 128 images and sorted them as “indoor” or “outdoor” items. This simple task helped them remember the images. Right after that, participants were divided into two groups. The first group listened to classical music which was rich in emotional variety. Another group heard flat and featureless sounds. 30 minutes later, everyone took a memory test.
People in the first group who became much more motivated by the music did better on the general memory test. They easily recognized items they’d seen before. But they struggled with detailed memory, often mistaking similar-looking items for ones they’d definitely seen. While people in the second group showed the opposite pattern, their general memory got worse, but their detailed memory improved dramatically.
The findings may have medical applications. Music therapy (疗法) is increasingly used for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Rather than using the same approach for everyone, doctors might need to choose specific musical interventions based on whether they want to support general memory or detailed recall.
In a word, music isn’t simply good or bad for memory. It’s a tool that can be adjusted to boost specific types of thinking. The challenge now is learning to use that tool intentionally rather than by accident.
12. How were the students grouped after remembering the images?
A. By their memory abilities. B. By their interest in music.
C. By the content they listened to. D. By their emotional responses.
13. Why did people in the first group do better on the general memory test?
A. Music makes them more active. B. They are good at recognizing objects.
C. They like to do memory tasks. D. They have improved detailed memory.
14. Why is the research useful for Alzheimer’s patients?
A. It proves music can cure disease. B. It discovers the real needs of patients.
C. It offers personalized treatment ideas. D. It shows feeling is the key to treatment.
15. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Music: A Cure for Memory Loss B. How Music Tunes Your Memory
C. Music: Changing What You Thought D. How to Improve Detailed Memory
C 13. A 14. C 15. B
根据第三段“Right after that, participants were divided into two groups. The first group listened to classical music which was rich in emotional variety. Another group heard flat and featureless sounds. (之后,参与者被分成两组。第一组听的是情感丰富的古典音乐。另一组听的是平淡的无特征声音)”可知,分组依据是“听的内容”,第一组听的是富有情感变化的古典音乐,另一组听的是平淡的无特征声音。故选C。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“People in the first group who became much more motivated by the music did better on the general memory test. (第一组被音乐激励的人在一般记忆测试中表现更好)”可知,第一组的人被音乐激发得更强烈,他们在一般记忆测试中表现得更好,因为他们听的音乐激发了他们,使他们状态更活跃。故选A。
根据第五段“Music therapy (疗法) is increasingly used for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Rather than using the same approach for everyone, doctors might need to choose specific musical interventions based on whether they want to support general memory or detailed recall. (音乐疗法越来越多地用于阿尔茨海默病患者。医生可能需要根据他们是想支持一般记忆还是详细回忆来选择特定的音乐干预,而不是对每个人都使用相同的方法)”可知,该研究给阿尔茨海默病提供了个性化的治疗思路。故选C。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据最后一段“In a word, music isn’t simply good or bad for memory. It’s a tool that can be adjusted to boost specific types of thinking. The challenge now is learning to use that tool intentionally rather than by accident. (总而言之,音乐对记忆并不是简单的好或坏。这是一种可以调整的工具,可以促进特定类型的思维。现在的挑战是学会有意而不是无意地使用这个工具)”及通读全文可知,文章核心是“音乐对记忆的调节作用”。因此,“音乐如何调整你的记忆力”最适合作为文章标题。故选B。
第二节(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分)
阅读短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Finding the right present is often a struggle, even when we are choosing for those we love most. We frequently fail to grasp the true wishes of others, making every choice feel like a test of the relationship. While humans are naturally good at imagining others’ perspectives, this mental effort can be quite exhausting. ___16___
Many errors in gifting come from a narrow focus on the present moment. ___17___ They expect a gift that causes an immediate “wow,” even if that delight is brief. On the contrary, those receiving the gifts tend to value items that provide usefulness over a long period. Professor Adelle Yang describes this phenomenon as the “smile-seeking theory.”
___18___ For instance, one might pick a luxury watch over a ticket to a theater show. The person giving the gift feels a sense of pride in handing over something physical and shiny. However, shared experiences or new skills usually generate more lasting happiness, as memories stay fresh long after physical objects lose their appeal.
For many, the value of a gift is tied strictly to its cost. We often spend more than necessary, believing that a high price demonstrates deep respect. ___19___ In reality, data indicates that the amount spent has very little impact on how much the receiver actually enjoys the gift. As Professor Jeffrey Galak notes, we often overestimate the influence of a large price tag.
Ultimately, successful gifting requires recognizing what the recipient truly values and choosing lasting satisfaction over a quick reaction. ___20___ Thus, a gift chosen with genuine care is rarely a failure and will likely strengthen your emotional bond.
A. The need to be unique can often backfire.
B. True satisfaction comes from the bond, not the expense.
C. Therefore, high prices always lead to more appreciation.
D. This theory explains our tendency to choose physical items.
E. Givers usually prioritize the instant reaction of the recipient.
F. Yet, following a few psychological tips can improve your success.
G. But studies prove that higher costs don’t guarantee more appreciation.
F 17. E 18. D 19. G 20. B

Possible Version
Traditional Culture in the Digital Age
In the digital age, traditional Chinese culture is experiencing a new form of preservation. For example, the Palace Museum uses digital technology to document each cultural relic in detail, allowing people to explore them on virtual screens. This not only lets them “live forever” digitally but also conveys the brilliance of Chinese civilization. Through such technology, we can explore restored ancient relics at any time.
Digital tools thus bridge the past and the future of Chinese culture. They make cultural resources easier to access and more engaging for the public. By combining technology with respect for tradition, I believe we can ensure that traditional culture continues to live.

In order to photograph the rare white-lipped deer (白唇鹿), I had waited by the Yarlung Tsangpo River at an altitude of over 4,000 meters for seven days and seven nights. I had come from a distant city, carrying not only heavy equipment — a camera, multiple lenses, and a drone — but also a strong desire to capture a breathtaking shot that could make my career.
As a wildlife photographer, I believed that powerful images could inspire people to care about endangered species. However, in my eagerness for the “perfect moment,” I sometimes focused more on results than on the animals themselves. On my second day there, an elderly local man named Tenzin quietly reminded me that the deer were easily frightened and that loud noises or sudden movements could cause serious stress to them. I nodded politely, but deep down I felt my professional skills would keep everything under control.
During the long wait, I noticed signs of life everywhere — fresh prints near the water and broken grass along the slope. Tenzin would occasionally pass by, silently observing the land with calm familiarity. His gentle presence contrasted sharply with my restless checking of equipment and constant adjustments.
On the seventh morning, as the first light touched the snow-covered mountains, the landscape suddenly came alive. One by one, white-lipped deer stepped out of the mist. Soon there were dozens, then more than a hundred, moving peacefully along the riverbank.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Afraid that the moment would vanish, I launched my drone without hesitation. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
As frightened deer disappeared into the distance, Tenzin said,“Every year, there are people like you…” _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Afraid that the moment would vanish, I launched my drone without hesitation. The excitement rushing through me left no room for thought or caution. The sudden buzzing sound shattered the peaceful scene. The deer raised their heads nervously, and within seconds, the herd fled into the mist. My heart sank as I watched them disappear. I had been so eager to capture the perfect shot that I had forgotten Tenzin’s warning. The drone hovered uselessly, and I lowered my head in shame.
As frightened deer disappeared into the distance, Tenzin said, “Every year, there are people like you...” He stood silently for a long moment, his gaze heavy with the weight of having witnessed this too many times before. His voice was gentle but heavy with disappointment. He looked at the empty riverbank. “They want to take from this land, but never learn to give back.” Tenzin placed a hand on my shoulder. “The deer will return when they feel safe again. Next time, watch with your eyes, not your camera.” I nodded, feeling the weight of my mistake.

1.续写词数应为150左右;
Afraid that the moment would vanish, I launched my drone without hesitation. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
