阅读理解(共12小题;每小题2.5分,满分30分) A Researchers from the University of Western Australia recently studied 3,000 middle and high school students. Among them were 618 teenagers with one parent who lived away from home for long periods of time because of work. The researchers wanted to know how the work of these “fly-in, fly-out” parents might influence the health of their children. A higher percentage of teenagers who experienced the long work absence of a parent had emotional(情感的)or behavioral problems compared with those whose parents worked more traditional hours. This supports earlier research finding high percentages of emotional problems in teenagers who often returned to an empty house after school or whose parents were seldom at dinner. Findings also suggest that parents don’t have to be home all the time to be present in their children’s lives, but it helps to be home at certain times. And the best parental presence for a teenager may sometimes be like a potted plant.  Many parents of teenagers have known this to be true and find ways to be present without trying to start a conversation. One friend of mine quietly does housework each evening in the sitting room where her teenagers watch TV. They enjoy one another’s company without the need to talk. Another friend usually accepts his daughter’s invitation to work or read nearby while she sits and does her homework. Perhaps, that, at least for some families, is the best way for a teenager and their parents to stay close. In fact, many years of research suggests that children use their parents as a safe base from which to explore the world. Studies tell us that young children quietly follow their parents’ movements from room to room, even while carrying on with their own activities. Perhaps our teens, like babies, feel most at ease when their parents are around. They don’t want to stay away from parents who allow them freedom. A new school year is at hand, so as parents we could offer our teenagers a “potted flower” as a gift, whose quiet and steady(稳定的) presence will give them a great day. 1.What’s the purpose of the recent research? A.To show the necessity of parents’ company all the time. B.To support earlier research on teenagers’ emotional problems. C.To find connections between parents’ long absence and children’s health. D.To compare “fly-in, fly-out” parents with those working traditional hours. 2.What can we learn from the text? A.To talk is perhaps the best way for a family to stay close. B.Teenagers often at dinner with their parents are problem-free. C.The 618 teenagers in the study may have trouble with their emotions and behaviors. D.Teenagers and parents enjoy doing housework and watching TV together. 3.What does the underlined phrase “a potted plant” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Giving children a great day. B.Being present in children’s life. C.Allowing children enough freedom. D.Staying with children quietly and steadily. 4.Why do parents need to be at home at certain times? A.To guide children to explore the world. B.To take good care of children as babies. C.To provide examples for children to follow. D.To shelter children and make them relaxed. B (2025·浙江温州期末)With two Olympic medals and two world skateboarding titles,16-year-old Rayssa Leal has achieved what most people dream of,and her skills, paired with the joys she shows in skateparks, have brought her fans as well as public attention. But instead of talent and hard work, she shared that her support system made a big difference in landing her a medal at Paris 2024. At the close of the run section of the eight-woman final,Leal had failed to put down a single clean line, lowering her hope of a top-three finish. She knew the game wasn’t over, but the already heavy stress on Leal’s shoulders doubled in weight. “After I screwed up the two runs,I thought I was not going to be able to do it anymore.” Leal related her experience. It was then that she went and got support. Her family was there, and her whole team was there.Having received a hug from everyone and having heard very positive and encouraging words, she came back 100 percent, even more focused. That was what changed the game right there.  Re-energized,the teenager finished the last section with her very best. And though the gold and silver were out of her reach, she never backed down in the fight for bronze. When the last skater who could overtake her failed the last run,Leal said she fell into a ton of feelings.“As soon as I realised that I was in third place,I broke down.My coach was there. We hugged each other, and we cried together. And all I could think was the most positive thoughts in the world.” 5.What played a major role in Leal’s success at Paris Olympics? A.Effort. B.Skills. C.Support. D.Strategies. 6.What does the underlined phrase “screwed up” in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Focused on. B.Did badly in. C.Took control of. D.Gave up. 7.How did Leal feel when she hugged her coach? A.Appreciative. B.Stressed. C.Peaceful. D.Anxious. 8.What lesson can be learned from Leal’s story? A.Actions speak louder than words. B.A little encouragement goes a long way. C.You cannot lose the game if you don’t play the game. D.A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. C When we pass through an art gallery, what determines our idea of beauty? While it is often said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder(观看者),this is not the whole story. When looking at paintings,we don’t judge each one on its own worth.Instead,we carry a bias(偏向),according to a new study by researchers from the University of Sydney. Led by PhD student Ms.Sujin Kim,the research involved a series of 40 paintings presented to 24 observers. The participants were asked to rate the artistic beauty of each painting on a screen. The paintings described scenery or still life. The first question the 24 observers were asked to respond to was whether they rated each painting independently of what they had just seen.To do this, the series of paintings was presented 20 times, with each run having a different order. In this way,a given painting was rated 20 times. The data was clear:the observers didn’t rate each painting consistently(一致地) but were biased by what they had just seen. “Many people suppose a kind of ‘contrast effect’ whereby a painting may look more attractive if it follows an unattractive painting,” Professor Alais said.“The surprising result was that the bias was a positive one:Paintings were rated higher following an attractive painting,or lower, following unattractive ones.” The research refers to this effect as “serial dependence”,which describes a systematic bias towards recent past experience.Previous studies have found that many types of input, including direction, facial expression and attractiveness are systematically biased by recent past experience. This has potential applications in various fields where the order of presentation can impact consumer preferences. “Perhaps art gallery managers have known all along about the bias towards the recent past,” Professor Alais said.“They often keep the best pieces for the last and build up to it.Our study shows this would ensure an accumulating(积累的) effect and guarantee a big finish.” 9.What factor most likely influenced the observers’ rating of paintings in the study? A.The rating times. B.The neighboring viewers. C.The types of the paintings. D.The paintings’ arrangement. 10.Which example agrees with the positive bias mentioned by Professor Alais? A.Buy a product mainly due to positive reviews. B.Consider a physically attractive person smart too. C.Enjoy the song that follows a nice one at a concert. D.Judge a person’s character based on the first impression. 11.What is Professor Alais’s attitude towards the art galleries’ common practice? A.Favorable. B.Disapproving. C.Confused. D.Unclear. 12.What would be the best title for the text? A.The Tricks for Hosting Valuable Exhibitions B.Serial Dependence:A New Look at Artistic Beauty C.The Elements of Being A Skillful Art Appreciator D.Artistic Creation:An Expression of the Self and Reality Ⅱ.完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) (2025·湖南高一期末)When I was in my early twenties,I moved away from my home state of Wisconsin to attend graduate school.I chose to go to the University of Arizona in Tucson and 13 there.Upon landing in early June,I was shocked by the lack of 14 and the burning desert heat. After less than two days in that 15 ,I called my parents to question whether I had made the right choice and to announce that I was 16 considering coming home.My father,in a calm and 17 voice, indicated that I always had a choice.I could always come home and be welcome there. But in fact,we both knew I wouldn’t come home at the time.Needless to say,I chose to 18 .  Many years have passed. My father’s 19 words remain with me.Knowing that I can always come home,I’ve been able to 20 several challenging situations—unemployment, divorce and even the 21 of my only son.I have also used these words in many cases where others need to know that someone 22 and that they do have a choice.Whether home is earthly, spiritual,or some sense of calm, knowing that we can come home will be just enough to 23 us on our way.  It 24 me,in a way,of the prodigal son(回头的浪子) who found 25 and love upon returning home. While we don’t have to be like him and hit bottom in life,it is good to know that we can wander and experience pains and 26 in life but we still have a home where love, support and comfort 27 .  13.A.flew B.drove C.walked D.cycled 14.A.blue B.yellow C.brown D.green 15.A.family B.refuge C.environment D.desert 16.A.naturally B.fortunately C.obviously D.seriously 17.A.gentle B.weak C.supportive D.pleasant 18.A.graduate B.regret C.return D.continue 19.A.surprising B.encouraging C.interesting D.moving 20.A.face up to B.get away with C.make sure of D.look out for 21.A.return B.growth C.arrival D.loss 22.A.worries B.cares C.leaves D.stays 23.A.help B.stop C.protect D.teach 24.A.informs B.reminds C.warns D.rids 25.A.comfort B.interest C.food D.money 26.A.regrets B.complaints C.sufferings D.pleasures 27.A.survive B.exist C.fall D.disappear 根据第一段“Researchers from the University of Western Australia recently studied 3,000 middle and high school students. Among them were 618 teenagers with one parent who lived away from home for long periods of time because of work. The researchers wanted to know how the work of these ‘fly-in, fly-out’ parents might influence the health of their children.(来自西澳大利亚大学的研究人员最近研究了3000名中学生和高中生,其中有618名青少年,父母中有一方因工作而长期离家生活。研究人员想知道这些‘出差式’的父母的工作方式可能会对他们孩子的健康产生何种影响。)”可知,这个研究的目的是找出父母一方长期不在孩子身边与孩子健康之间的联系。故选C项。 2.C 推理判断题。根据第一段第二句以及第二段第一句可知,这618名青少年由于父母一方工作在他处,长期远离父母生活,他们更有可能在情绪或行为方面出现了问题。故选C项。 3.D 词句猜测题。根据第三段中的“And the best parental presence for a teenager may sometimes be like a potted plant. (对青少年来说,父母最好的陪伴有时就像一盆盆栽。)”以及第四段中的“One friend of mine quietly does housework each evening in the sitting room where her teenagers watch TV. They enjoy one another’s company without the need to talk. Another friend usually accepts his daughter’s invitation to work or read nearby while she sits and does her homework.(我的一位朋友每晚都会在孩子们看电视的客厅里默默地做家务。他们无须交谈,却享受着彼此的陪伴。另一位朋友通常会接受女儿的邀请,在她坐着写作业时,在旁边工作或看书。)”可知,画线短语指的是默默陪伴在孩子身边的父母。故选D项。  4.D 推理判断题。根据第二段“A higher percentage of teenagers who experienced the long work absence of a parent had emotional or behavioral problems compared with those whose parents worked more traditional hours.” 结合第五段中“In fact, many years of research suggests that children use their parents as a safe base from which to explore the world... Perhaps our teens, like babies, feel most at ease when their parents are around.” 根据第二段中“but the already...doubled in weight”以及画线短语所在句可知,她在两轮比赛中表现不好,所以“screwed up”意思是“表现糟糕”。 根据最后一段中“And all I could...in the world.” 根据文章大意以及倒数第二段中“Her family was there, and her whole team was there.” 根据最后一段“Our study...effect and guarantee a big finish.” 13.A 根据下文“Upon landing in early June”可知,作者乘飞机去那里。 16.D 根据上文“I called my parents...right choice”和下文“considering coming home”可知,作者在认真地考虑回家。 17.C 根据语境和下文“I could always...welcome there.” 18.D 根据上文“I wouldn’t come home at the time”可知,作者选择继续留在那里。 19.B 根据上文“My father,in a calm... welcome there.” 20.A 根据语境和下文“several challenging situations—unemployment,...only son”可知,作者能面对一些困难。 23.A 根据上文“knowing that we can come home”和下文“us on our way”可知,知道能回家就足以帮助我们这些在路上的人。 24.B 根据上文“Whether home is earthly...us on our way.” 25.A 根据上文并结合下文“we still have a home where love, support and comfort...” 27.B 根据语境和上文“we still have a home where love, support and comfort...”
