三、阅读理解(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
A
“A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Friends are important to us. Friends help us get through hard times. Friends also influence us a lot. Let’s enjoy two poems about friends.
To Wang Lun (By Li Bai)
I, Li Bai, sit aboard a ship about to go,
When suddenly on shore footsteps and songs overflow (溢出).
The Lake of Peach Blossoms (桃花) is a thousand fathoms deep,
But not so deep as the friendship Wang Lun and I keep.
A Time to Talk (By Robert Frost)
When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don’t stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven’t hoed (锄地),
And shout from where I am, “What is it?”
No, not as there is a time to talk.
I thrust (猛推) my hoe in the ground,
Blade-end (锋刃端) up and five feet tall,
And plod (蹒跚): I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.
Both poems are famous in their cultures, but they tell different stories. Li Bai described the scene of his friend seeing him off. US poet Robert Frost wrote about a friend’s visit when he was working. Li made a comparison (比较). His poem shows the friendship between him and his friend is deeper than the deep water. Frost’s poem, however, tells the readers that we should stop what we are doing to talk with our friends. It tells us that nothing should get in the way of spending time with friends. The language is simple but sincere.

A. He was leaving by ship. B. He was enjoying the peach blossoms.
C. He was waiting for his friend. D. He was singing a song.

B. A friend to all is a friend to none.
C. Be slow in choosing a friend; slower in changing.
D. There’s just one sure delight (乐事), friendship, like sunrise, warm and bright.
30. Where is this passage probably from?
A. A science textbook. B. A travel guide. C. A culture book. D. A news report.
B
Recently, I asked a seeing friend who had just walked in the woods what she had noticed. “Nothing special,” she replied.
How was it possible, I asked myself, to walk through the woods and see nothing worthy of note? I who cannot see find hundreds of things to interest me only through touch. If I can get so much fun from touch, how much more beauty must be found by sight (视力)? And I have imagined what I should most like to see if I were given the use of my eyes for just three days.
On the first day, I should want to see the people who have made my life worth living and the books which have been read to me. In the afternoon, I should take a walk in the woods and admire the beauties of nature. That night, I should not be able to sleep.
On my second day, I should go to the museums to see man’s progress. I should try to explore the spirit of man through his art. In the evening, I should spend at the movies.
The following day, I should spend time doing my daily things in the world of common people. At midnight permanent (永久的) night would close in on me again, and I should realize how much I had left unseen.
I who am blind can give one suggestion to those who see-Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be blind. The same is true of other senses. Hear the songs of birds, as if you would be deaf tomorrow. Smell the flowers, as if tomorrow you could never smell again. But of all the senses, I’m sure that sight must be the most pleasant.
(—Taken from Three Days to See by Helen Keller)

35. Which of the following sayings may the writer agree with?
A. Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.

Thomas Edison’s story shows that true talent comes from endless curiosity. Born in Ohio, the USA, his formal education lasted only three months—his teacher couldn’t stand his endless questioning. His mother Nancy became his teacher, offering lessons that included reading, writing, and hands-on experiments in their home laboratory. By age 10, he had read books like School of Natural Philosophy, and often did experiments as the texts taught.
At 12, Edison took a job selling newspapers on the train. During rides, he changed the baggage car (行李车厢) into a mobile laboratory, studying chemistry textbooks and doing experiments. When his experiments started a fire, the angry conductor hit his ears and this led to his lifelong hearing problem. He didn’t give up. Instead, he saw this as a chance—learning Morse code (莫尔斯电码) quickly in a few weeks and getting a job as a night telegraph operator. Here, he made his first invention at 16—an automatic telegraph repeater.
Edison’s Menlo Park Laboratory became his real school. He filled shelves with over 10,000 scientific books, asking all workers to study each night. His famous “invention teams” held midnight discussions and all the members talked about their ideas like students in a college. For the light bulb (灯泡) project, he created a special learning way—They kept detailed records of each failed filament (灯丝), building a big materials database (数据库).
When developing the storage battery (蓄电池), Edison did more than 50,000 experiments over 10 years. His notebooks show countless records of each experiment. “Learning isn’t remembering facts,” he told reporters. “It’s training your mind to deal with problems.”
Edison’s whole life is ▲ . When asked about retirement (退休), he’d say, “I’ll stop learning when they nail my coffin shut.” Today, his 3,500 notebooks are the strongest sign of his lifelong learning—every page filled with questions, sketches, and the words “Try again tomorrow”.
36. How did Edison deal with his hearing problem?
A. He paid no attention to this problem. B. He felt very angry about it.
C. He tried many ways to improve his hearing. D. He took it as a chance.
37. What does Edison’s light bulb project show about his learning attitude (态度)?
A. He trusted natural talent most. B. He saw failures as learning steps.
C. He depended on others’ help. D. He only trusted textbooks.
38. Why does the writer talk about Edison’s notebooks?
A. To show he could remember well. B. To show he failed many times.
C. To show his way of dealing with problems. D. To tell his invention cost a lot.
39. Which can be put in “ ▲ “?
A. a fight against life B. a search for his own value
C. a never-ending learning journey D. a series of lucky tasks
40. What were the key qualities that led to Thomas Edison’s success according to the passage?
A. His endless curiosity and hard work. B. His good memory and patience.

Whether you like it or not, Monday morning is coming. But it doesn’t have to be worrying. There are things to do on Sunday that can not only set you up for success through your week but also make Mondays enjoyable.
Eating healthy food can help you get prepared so you have better-for-you choices on hand through your busy week. Make a plan before shopping and put healthy fruits and vegetables on top of your list. The choices you make for your health and happiness are an expression of self-love, so choosing foods that you enjoy and support your health is an important way to invest (投资) in your happiness.
You will feel you can manage your life when some of the housework that you want to put off is taken care of in time. A one-hour deep clean can make a huge difference in not only your home environment but also how you feel for the rest of the week. If cleaning the bathroom seems to be difficult to you, start with a quick cleanup of the kitchen or tidy up the living room.
Self-care doesn’t always mean hot baths or face masks. Sometimes, self-care means feeling in control of your money. Getting in the habit of checking your money often can give you a good idea of where you’re spending and where you can be saving.
Got the Sunday Scaries? That’s because there’s nothing during the week that you look forward to. Plan your week with more than just work meetings and make time for things you’ll look forward to. For example, plan a dinner with friends, a call with your mom, or a couple of hours of alone time to read your favorite book. Instead of looking at Sundays as an end to a good weekend, start looking at Sundays as the beginning of a new week.
Follow these ways, and you will start enjoying your Mondays.
