Chinese paper-cutting, or jianzhi, is a folk art which uses scissors or knives to cut paper for festive decoration or other folk activities. Paper-cutting artworks are always made with red paper, as red stands for happiness in Chinese culture. Having a wide mass base in China, paper-cutting has been involved in the social life for different peoples and has presented social values in cognition, amusement and communication, etc.
Traditionally, most paper-cutting was conducted by women. But one young man has inherited this skill, and he demonstrates a remarkable dedication to his craft.
Chang Yangyang, a man from the post-90s generation, is an heir to the provincial level intangible cultural heritage Menglin-style paper-cutting in Central China’s Henan Province.
Born in a paper-cutting family, he learned the skill from his grandmother since childhood and has a strong interest in it. Even when he started to work, he never stopped practising.
By chance, he took part in the national paper-cutting competition, and won third place. After his strong showing, he realized this could be a career (事业), so he quit his job and went back to his home town. He visited many predecessors of paper-cutting, learned skills and opened a studio. Referring to his studio, Chang said, “It was very difficult at first, because young people like fashionable things and paper-cutting is usually related to the countryside and traditional folk customs.”

As usual, Amber was hurrying to catch the yellow school bus. Luckily the traffic lights turned green as she was to cross the road, so she made it. When the bus passed a golden arch (拱形门), it reminded her of a hamburger. She hadn’t had breakfast that morning because the fruit salad on the blue dish didn’t look delicious at all. However, Amber remembered that she was still on a diet. So now she was really in a black mood.
You may have noticed that several colours were used in the above story so as to help describe Amber’s morning. In fact, colours influence your life more than you can ever imagine. Take language for example: You may describe a sick person as being “a bit green”. To describe sadness, you say that the person is “feeling blue”. In short, colours do add interest to daily conversations.
Besides, colours can be used in many parts of your daily life. Have you ever thought about why many school buses and taxis are painted yellow, and stop signs red? Since yellow is the most eye-catching colour, it can catch people’s attention, especially in heavy traffic. As for red, it is the colour which usually shows warning. As a result, some traffic signs use this colour. For the same reason, hot-water taps are usually marked red.
The colours of a dining environment possibly decide how much you eat. Most fast-food restaurants are often decorated in bright colours such as red, yellow, orange, and white for the purpose of increasing people’s appetites (胃口). This is because bright colours are natural colours found in many foods, and, therefore, able to raise people’s spirits. Blue, in comparison (对比) with bright colours, is said to lower people’s appetites because few foods are blue in nature. For those who are on a diet, blue dishes and bowls might help!
“Morning, Amber! What happened? You look a bit green,” said Violet, Amber’s best friend.
“Nothing… just feeling… blue,” said Amber.
“Hey! Come to my place tonight. Do you know what I just bought? A phone! It’s red-hot.”
Amber was tickled pink to have the chance to play with the phone and said, “Sounds great!”
32. According to the passage, what might help if you are on a diet?
A. Putting your food in a blue dish or bowl.
B. Turning on a yellow light during the meal.
C. Painting the walls of the dining room white.
D. Covering the dining table with an orange cloth.
33. Why are most school buses painted yellow?
A. It tells other drivers to prepare to stop
B. It helps bus drivers stay in a good mood
C. It can easily catch other people’s attention
D. It is the colour that most school children like
34. Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?
A. Colours influence people’s daily lives.
B. Fast-food restaurants are painted the same colour.
C. Yellow catches attention while red sends a warning.
D. Colours make daily conversations more interesting.
35. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A. Amber didn’t like eating breakfast at all.
B. Amber cheered up at Violet’s invitation at last.
C. Violet didn’t know how colours influenced our lives.
D. The arch is painted gold only to make it beautiful.

根据短文内容及所给字母提示写出所缺单词,使短文意思完整,每空一词。
You might have a friend or a classmate who remembers every single detail. How can they make it? A good memory is often seen as something that comes naturally. However, in fact, there are plenty of things that you can do to i____51____ your memory.
First of all, interest is important when remembering things. We all agree that we don’t have difficulty remembering the things we are interested in w____52____. We do have difficulty remembering the ones that we are bored with. It’s not h____53____ to explain why schoolboys remember football results well, but remember dates from history lessons with difficulty! One way to “make” yourself have more interest is to ask questions—the more, the better!
Secondly, researchers have found that information which is organized in groups can be e____54____ remembered. You can use this by organizing the materials you are studying. Try grouping similar knowledge together, or make a mind map of textbook reading to help group the information. Then when you learn more about that subject, you know that better. Be sure things are c____55____ in your mind. If not, ask questions until you understand!
Moreover, when you’re learning new materials, don’t rush to memorize. You should spend time considering the r____56____ between the present information and what you’ve already known instead of repeating w____57____ thinking. Then it helps you remember information.
Last but not least, physical exercise is also important for your memory because it increases your heart rate and p____58____ more fresh air for your brain, and that makes your memory work better. Exercise also reduces stress, because too much stress can be h____59____ to the memory.
So, the next time you’re learning something new, you can use the methods a____60____. I’m sure your memory will reach a higher level.

根据短文内容在文章后表格中的空白处填入一个最恰当的词,每空一词。
Nowadays, OpenAI company’s ChatGPT, Dall-E and Sora have been a hot topic all around the world. But perhaps most of us have never thought about what it takes to run such intelligent products (智能产品). One thing this technology (技术) depends on may get you surprised-plenty of water!
Why does a computer program need so much water? In fact, in order to have the ability to write like a human, an AI system must first study a large amount (数量) of text written by humans. In the process, it not only uses much electricity (电) but also produces much heat. So, on hot days, computer engineers use water to keep the computers cool.
Microsoft has worked with OpenAI for years. In a recent report, Microsoft shared how much water was used from 2021 to 2022. The total amount of water used in cooling machines is enough to fill more than 2,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools. It is believed the training of AI systems leads to the big rise.
Usually, AI super-computing centers lie in places that are cool for most of the year. These centers can just use outside air to cool the computers. But in summer, the temperature can reach nearly 40℃. The computer engineers have to use a large amount of water to cool all the machines.
ChatGPT also “drinks” water while chatting. Scientists have worked out the environmental costs of using AI products. For a conversation of 20 to 50 questions and answers, ChatGPT uses up a bottle of water, about 500ml. How much water is used doesn’t stay the same for the whole year, and the exact amount of water changes if a machine takes on more work.
Many people haven’t realized the problem. If you don’t know how many resources ChatGPT uses, how can you help to save water? The next time you are amazed at how smart ChatGPT is, think about how much water it’s “drinking”. Why not reduce the time of talking to machines—to help save the Earth’s water resources!
How “thirsty” are AI systems? Around the world, intelligent products are ____61____ actively. However, the fact that much water is used in running them may ____62____ many people.
The ____63____ for using much water
When an AI system learns to ____64____ like a man, it needs electricity and produces heat. Water is used to keep computers cool.
A recent report by Microsoft
From 2021 to 2022, the amount of the water used in cooling machines kept ____65____. The training of the AI system is the cause of it.
The analysis (分析)
The amount of used water is
·connected with where AI super-computing centers ____66____.
·influenced by the high ____67____ in summer.
·not ____68____ all year round and changes when a machine works more.
____69____ on saving water
·Think of it as a problem.
·Save Earth’s water resources by ____70____ to humans more.

I think white can represent myself. White means purity and kindness, which are important qualities for a doctor. I believe my dream will come true one day.
Yours,
Li Hua
