Three Free Movie Websites for Your In-Home Movie Night
It’s no secret that paid TV services are expensive and often come with many unnecessary extra charges. There are plenty of free movie websites for you to access that will replace those paid services, so there’s no need to stress about missing out on your favorite or must-see movies at a high cost.
Website’s name
Profile
Popcornflix
Popcornflix features a smooth, easy-to-use interface (界面), and you don’t have to create an account. Families will also like PopcornflixKids, a children’s section on Popcornflix. However, you can only choose from 52 options for comedy specials, and 12 of them are actually old Gallagher routines. Plus, you’ll have to watch advertisements every 15 minutes, and the video quality is somewhat poor.
Facebook Watch
Facebook Watch often winds up being a mix of random videos, but you can find some novel treasures. Like YouTube, users and brands of Facebook Watch can create and upload their own videos. It also hosts some original shows. Therefore, don’t expect to find any full-length movies on here. You will need a Facebook account to view these shows.
Tubi
Tubi features over 12,000 movies and TV shows to watch. It’s also relatively easy to explore niche topics (小众话题), such as “Full Moon Features”. Tubi makes profits by showing advertisements throughout the movies. While there are plenty of movies to watch, don’t expect to find a ton of newer, high-dollar productions.
Note: You are expected to take each free site’s pros and cons into account and then you can pick one according to your own needs.

I’m Mayo. In a couple of minutes, I’d be called onstage to introduce myself to 100 people, like other new attendees who’d spoken confidently and gotten applause. Logically, I knew I shouldn’t fear public speaking, yet I was frightened. My body betrayed me with racing heart, sweaty hands, dry mouth, and negative thoughts flooded in: What if I pause improperly when speaking? What if they dislike me? What if I fail? Before my turn, I escaped, my fear stopping me from speaking up again.
Having grown tired of fear controlling my life, I decided to overcome it for good. That choice was driven by the saying: “Fear is temporary. Regret is forever.” I arranged a 4-day getaway on my own, leaving behind the Internet, my phone and social media. All I would have was myself. Wandering the countryside and journaling, I figured out where my fear came from: my childhood. Whenever I’d spoken up in front of others back then, all I got was laughter, not praise.
Then I had a realization: fear wasn’t my enemy but a protector. I didn’t need to fight it, just reconcile by understanding its origin, valuing its purpose, and then letting it go. By the trip’s end, I’d filled a journal and started living in harmony with my fears, feeling more grateful. I’d aimed to overcome fear, but ultimately got on well with it.
Guided by “Face up to your fears and they won’t be your fears anymore,” I took small steps: raising my hand at events, then speaking to friends. Each step lifted a weight. Months later, I spoke to strangers. Chest tightness now came from excitement, not fear. Today, I speak confidently to diverse people. Public speaking isn’t about me, but positively impacting others. Someone in the audience always needs my message, which might change their lives or stop disastrous choices. With this service-focused way of thinking, fear no longer holds me back.
24. Why did the author escape before speaking?
A. He forgot his lines. B. He had a sore throat. C. He feared mistakes. D. He hated big crowds.
25. What do we know about Mayo’s four-day trip?
A. It made him reconnect with friends. B. It included considerable difficulties.
C. It eased his fear by linking to nature. D. It helped him discover the source of fear.
26. What does the underlined word “reconcile” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Seek targets. B. Make peace. C. Lessen reliance. D. Try new things.
27. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Learn to Befriend Fear B. Fight against Fixed Thought
C. Fear Originates from Inside D. From Speechless to Talkative
C
Walk into a standard supermarket and you’ll quickly be presented with a wide range of unhealthy, ultra-processed (超加工的) options which are often too inviting to ignore. In fact, many leading experts say the food environment — such as the way food is produced, marketed and sold — is influencing consumers to make unhealthy choices.
The food environment itself is part of the problem, much of which is designed to prioritize profit. Franco Sassi, a researcher at Imperial College, said that while individuals feel as though they can choose what they buy and eat, the evidence paints a distinct picture.
What makes this particularly troubling is that ultra-processed foods (UPFs) are adjusted by producers to make them as appealing as possible. This is despite the increasing understanding of the link between UPFs and negative health outcomes.
Stating this clearly on food labels can drive behavioral change. In 2016, Chile introduced black warning labels for food high in sugar, salt or calories, leading to a 23.8% drop in purchases of high-calorie products. Likewise, many European countries adopt the “Nutri-score”, a front-of-pack labeling system originating in France. It uses colored letters ranging from the healthiest dark green A to the least healthy red E, designed to help consumers make better-informed food choices.
The Nutri-score came about after several large-scale studies by nutrition scientist Touvier and colleagues showing associations between nutritional quality and negative health outcomes, including cancer. This sparked widespread media debate, she says, leading to public perception that people “were being poisoned” by the food industry, which in turn increased pressure on food companies to make changes.
In response, some producers decreased the percentage of sugar in their products and shifted from refined grains to whole-grain flours. Supermarkets also promoted healthier products, which increased sales of “Nutri-score A” products and decreased sales of “E” products, says Touvier. Consequently, Nutri-score labelling has been shown to change consumer behavior too.
28. What does Franco Sassi imply?
A. Food markets ignore economic benefits. B. Consumers lack freedom in food selection.
C. Shoppers have some knowledge of food risks. D. Scientific evidence contradicts experts’ views.
29. What are UPFs specially made to do?
A. Lower market costs. B. Reduce health risks.
C. Boost nutritional benefits. D. Draw more customers.
30. What can be known about the measures mentioned in paragraph 4?
A. They cease the sale of unhealthy foods. B. They adopt the same grading standards.
C. They force people to buy nutritious foods. D. They use eye-catching marks to warn people.
31. What does the last paragraph show about the Nutri-score?
A. Its chain effect. B. Its future trend. C. Its design purpose. D. Its wide popularity.

Breast cancer detection could get a boost from artificial intelligence. When AI helped examine breast X-rays, doctors caught one more cancer case per 1,000 tested individuals compared with traditional screening (筛查). The largest real-world study on AI’s potential for breast cancer screening, which included nearly 500,000 women in Germany, suggests that the software could simplify the screening process without affecting the rate of false alarms.
Germany’s breast cancer screening program requires two radiologists (放射科医生) to independently assess each patient’s breast X-rays and look for spots, abnormal masses and other strange signs. If at least one doctor suspects cancer in the four X-ray images, a third radiologist helps determine if the individual needs more tests. “We have 3 million women participating each year in this project, and 24 million pictures have to be read every year,” radiologist Katalinic says.
To see if AI could lighten the load, decision referral software was set up at 12 screening sites across the country. More than 460,000 women aged 50 to 69 took part in the study from July 2021 through late February 2023. AI marked the breast X-rays as normal, questionable or unclassified. The 119 participating radiologists chose to use an AI-supported image viewer, which revealed the software’s assessment, for roughly half of the women’s screenings.
Without the application of AI, clinicians identified about 6 breast cancer cases, confirmed through biopsy (活检), per 1,000 patients during screening. Doctors found around 7 cases with the software’s help, leading to a 17.6% higher breast cancer detection rate with AI. Compared with patients who received traditional screenings, the group checked with AI’s help had slightly fewer false positives.
How the AI would best fit into radiologists’ workflow remains an open question, but it could replace one of the initial readers, says Stefan Bunk, chief technology officer and co-founder of Vara, the health care technology company in Berlin that developed the AI.
32. What benefit does AI bring to breast cancer screening according to the study?
A. Making screening more efficient. B. Reducing false alarms significantly.
C. Bettering the clarity of X-ray images. D. Identifying more rare medical cases.
33. What can we learn about Germany’s screening program?
A. It mainly targets women aged 50 to 69. B. It places a heavy workload on radiologists.
C. It screens about 3 million images annually. D. It always requires a third radiologist’s opinion.
34. What can be inferred from the study on AI?
A. It kept track of all participants. B. AI scarcely drew right conclusions.
C. It was nearly supported by all screening sites. D. AI rarely gained a leading role in examinations.
35. Why does the author mention biopsy in paragraph 4?
A. To demonstrate its safety. B. To introduce another tool.
C. To emphasize AI’s accuracy. D. To show AI’s working logic.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Science has found that rabbits can experience multiple emotions, including joy, fright, stress, and worry. While they don’t cry tears as humans do, they may express their discomfort through other means such as vocalizations (发声), ear and body position, or the way they move. However, the production of emotional tears appears to be unique to humans. 36
Seeing tears in your rabbit’s eyes can be heartbreaking, but it is important to stay calm and observe your rabbit carefully. If you think the tears are due to an illness or injury, contact a vet (兽医) immediately. 37 Finally, provide plenty of love and attention so that your pet always feels secure and loved.
Rabbits communicate with each other through a variety of methods. From vocalizations to body language, understanding what your rabbit is trying to tell you requires paying attention to both verbal (口头的) and, most commonly, nonverbal clues. 38 An unhappy rabbit will try to run away, hide in corners or behind furniture.
39 These signs can include jumping in circles and making soft little noises. Additionally, rabbits will often clean themselves and lie down with legs spread out comfortably when they are feeling relaxed.
Understanding rabbit behavior and being observant are essential for detecting signs of discomfort so that you can respond appropriately with care. Creating a safe environment as well as providing plenty of love and enrichment opportunities is key to keeping your rabbit happy and healthy. 40
A. After all, rabbits, like humans, are social animals.
B. The latter is often mistaken for a normal physical activity.
C. For example, a flat head to the ground indicates discomfort.
D. Keeping your rabbit in a safe, stress-free space also matters.
E. Thus, rabbit tears or watery eyes mean an eye issue, not crying.
F. A happy rabbit may exhibit certain behaviors to display their joy.
G. By doing so, you can help ensure your rabbit has a long and joyful life.

Jacky grew up in an economically disadvantaged village surrounded by green mountains. Last year, he became one of the students in the village to be admitted into a famous university in a big city. He knew how vital education was for the village children, most of whom studied in local primary and middle schools, which had limited access to educational resources.
When the summer holiday of his first year at university came, Jacky went back home. One afternoon, a group of children ran to him, their eyes full of curiosity. “Brother Jacky, is university fun?” asked Peter, a 10-year-old boy with a big smile. “What’s life like in the big city? Is it as exciting as the stories say?” added Peter, holding a tattered (破旧的) notebook.
Jacky sat on the stone bench and talked to them patiently. He told them about the big libraries with thousands of books, the bright classrooms with modern computers, and the interesting club events like painting and music. The children listened carefully, their eyes shining with hope. “I want to go to university too!” Peter shouted excitedly. “Me too! I want to see the big city!” others cried out.
But soon, some children lowered their heads and sighed. “Our school is not good,” said Coco quietly. “The teachers don’t know much about the outside world. We can’t catch up with the kids in the city.” Jacky felt a pang (悲痛) in his heart. He thought for a moment — maybe he could help. He decided to use his holidays to give free lessons to the children. But he knew his strengths were insufficient; he was good at math and English, but not at art or science. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head: there were other university students from the village. Why not persuade them to participate in this rewarding work?

friends.I've noticed your excellent oral English and impressive ability to analyze issues from multiple perspectives in
class discussions, which are exactly the qualities we value most.
I really hope you can be a member of our team.It would be a huge boost to our team, and I'm sure you'd enjoy

One possible version:
The next day,Jacky visited other university students in the village. He told them about the children's desire for
knowledge and the lack of local educational resources here, earnestly inviting them to join the free tutoring. To his
delight, everyone nodded without hesitation. All students volunteered to share knowledge in their own fields. They
quickly decided to use the empty village committee room as their classroom.Upon hearing the news, the kids rushed
over with their tattered notebooks, their faces lighting up with excitement.
Day by day,the kids smiled more brightly and became more confident. In various classes, the students brought
rich and interesting content to attract children. The art-major student guided them to paint green mountains, while the
science-major student showed them simple and fun experiments.Jacky also used creative games to make English more
engaging. One afternoon,Peter showed Jacky a painting of a big university with the words "My Dream"written
below.Jacky knew that he was planting seeds of hope in these children's hearts, which would ultimately grow into big
trees.
