B After we had twins and became a family of five, my husband and I decided to move from London back to Yorkshire, to be closer to my parents. Around the same time, they sold their house and we decided to build them a bungalow (平房) in our garden. We moved them in with us temporarily until the new house was finished. Packing up my parents’ house felt like a massive goodbye — that bedroom, those childhood memories, the sense of safety and shelter I had enjoyed there all my life. That evening, I sat alone in the empty living room, buried in deep nostalgia. Even though I was a middle-aged woman with my own kids, I felt terribly frightened about losing the permanent home I could always return to. On our final morning in the old house, we stopped the endless packing work and shared our last family breakfast there. Mum sighed that the house looked cold and weird without any furniture left. Anxiety flooded over me. I kept worrying that my parents would sooner or later regret selling their lifelong house and feel uncomfortable living together under one roof with our big family. Curious about Dad’s true feelings, I turned to him and asked quietly. He paused for a while, sipping his tea slowly, then smiled and answered gently, “Well, it’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?” I let out a long sigh of relief. I had prepared myself for sadness, hesitation or complaint, yet my father was already looking forward to the days ahead instead of clinging tightly to the past. Gradually, a new understanding dawned on me. Moving together did not mean the loss of my old home and sweet memories. Instead, it opened up a warm new journey of three generations living together, bound closely by endless family love. 24. Why did the author feel upset while packing her parents’ house? A. She was worn out by the tiring packing work. B. She was afraid of losing her spiritual home. C. She disapproved of moving back to Yorkshire. D. She worried about the quality of the new bungalow. 25. What was the author’s original attitude towards multigenerational living? A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Enthusiastic. D. Indifferent. 26. What can we infer about Dad from his words? A. He had no affection for the old house at all. B. He preferred living alone rather than staying with children. C. He held an optimistic view of the future family life. D. He felt heartbroken about leaving his lifelong residence. 27. What is the main theme the passage intends to convey? A. Old houses carry precious childhood memories forever. B. Learn to embrace life changes and cherish family affection. C. It is tough for the elderly to adapt to group family life. D. Nostalgic feelings always bring people anxiety and pain. C Imagine you are preparing a class presentation when you suddenly remember you forgot to feed the cat. You grab your phone to text your mum, but an ad jumps out: “50% off your favourite brand!” One tap leads to another; ten minutes later you have looked through reviews, filled a cart and almost missed your own slide. This phenomenon is called “popcorn(爆米花)brain”. The term was introduced in 2011 by researcher David Levy from the University of Washington. It describes a mental state where attention wanders, and thoughts jump quickly from one topic to another—just like popcorn popping rapidly in a hot pan. People with popcorn brain find it hard to concentrate or maintain a clear line of thinking. University of California Researcher Gloria Mark tracked 2,000 American office workers and students in her two-decade study on attention with silent screen recorders and heart-rate belts. In 2004 people stayed on one task for 2.5 minutes on average; by 2020 the figure had fallen to 47 seconds. Heart-rate data showed that every extra switch raised a stress hormone(荷尔蒙)by about 7%. Studies show that digital technology, especially social media, worsens this condition. Data Reportal’s 2024 report pooled screen-time records from 1.3 million users in 40 countries and found further proof. For instance, people in America aged 16-24 averaged 7 hours 3 minutes online per day, equaling roughly 17 years of adult life. Such constant digital exposure trains the brain to prefer short bursts of information. As a result, focusing on one task becomes harder. Information overload also affects memory, decision-making, and emotional control. The cure, tested in follow-up trials, is brief: set clear tech boundaries. Recommended strategies include limiting daily screen time, turning off non-essential notification, and creating tech-free periods or spaces. Building a structured daily routine is also advised:individuals can begin by measuring their current focus duration, then set realistic goals and stick to a fixed schedule for important tasks. This consistent practice strengthens habits and prepares your mind and body to focus on the task for a longer period without getting popcorn brain. 28. How does the author present the issue in paragraph 1? A. By defining a concept. B. By providing statistics. C. By giving an example. D. By introducing a presentation. 29. What can be inferred from the data in Gloria Mark’s study? A. Attention on a task dropped half in decades. B. Frequent switching may increase mental stress. C. People's average screen time decreased steadily. D. Shortened screen time may lead to higher heart disease risk. 30. What does the underlined word “pooled” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Evaluated. B. Created. C. Published. D. Collected. 31. According to the passage, how can we prevent getting “popcorn brain”? A. Setting aside no-device areas. B. Changing daily schedules flexibly. C. Using more advanced digital devices. D. Checking essential notification regularly. D Over the last 1,400 years, populations of the Yangtze finless porpoise(江豚) have dramatically declined in China. But intensive surveys of its range only span the last couple of decades, leaving lots of gaps in scientists’ knowledge of the species. In a creative blend of art and science, a new study uses historical poetry to chart the critically endangered animal’s population across the river it calls home. The finless porpoises once lived throughout the entire Yangtze River, which stretches from the Tibetan Plateau to the East China Sea. Now, the only known freshwater porpoise in the world has fewer than 1,800 individuals left in the wild. The research team combed through databases of Chinese poetry to find references to the porpoise and map its past distribution. They found 724 poems that mentioned the animal, of which half noted where the porpoises were observed. Their findings were published in Current Biology. “Having access to past data allows us to detect when declines began and correlate those changes with potential threats like habitat destruction, climate change, overhunting, disease or the introduction of invasive species,” says lead author Zhang Yaoyao, an ecologist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The poems suggest the porpoise’s range has decreased by 65% since the Tang dynasty. Most of that decline happened in the river’s tributaries and lakes, where the animal’s range has decreased by 91%. While the population decrease was mostly gradual, the sharpest decline has occurred over the past 100 years. That sudden drop aligns with human activities on the river, especially dam construction in the 1950s that blocked off the porpoise's movement to and from the river's main channel. The work highlights the connection between culture and science. “Poems are actually ancient citizen science, and many Chinese poets were ‘well-educated intellectuals’,” says Zhang. “These data are not perfect...But they do have a lot of information if you use them correctly.” This approach has potential for uncovering the pasts of other endangered species as well. Previously, scholars have used medieval and ancient texts to understand things like volcanic eruptions, auroras and unusual whales. 32.What challenge do scientists face in their research about the porpoise? A.Its population has dropped off dramatically. B.Locating its habitats is increasingly difficult. C.The long-term historical data are insufficient. D.Its population is hard to calculate precisely. 33.What mainly contributed to the dramatic fall of the porpoise’s populations? A.Poor resistance to diseases. B.Climate changes over time. C.Human impacts on its habitats. D.Competition with other species. 34.Why does the author mention “volcanic eruptions” in the last paragraph? A.To show major threats to endangered wildlife. B.To introduce challenges in ecological research. C.To reveal the wisdom of ancient Chinese poets. D.To prove the value of ancient texts in research. 35.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Historical Poems: Records of Ancient Chinese Wildlife B.citizen Science: A New Approach to Protecting Animals C.The Yangtze Finless Porpoise: A Critically Endangered Species D.Ancient Poetry: A Creative Way to Study Endangered Porpoise 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Yoga has a well-deserved reputation for helping to improve balance and flexibility and for inducing calm and relaxation. 36 While yoga burns fewer calories than high-intensity cardio, it still lifts your heart rate and builds muscle. Jerry worked as a service manager at a local car dealer, while Jim served as a police officer. Both were buried in heavy work all year round, leaving little spare time to stay with me. Deep down, I felt ignored and there was a distant gap between us. My family lived a simple life and I mostly wore hand-me-downs from my elder sister, which gradually made me quiet and timid. Though no one around me looked down on me, I could not shake off my inner lack of self-confidence. I was always hesitant to show myself in public, wishing I could stay unnoticed most of the time. One day, the teacher casually passed out ring order forms for the 100th anniversary of the school’s founding. There were two choices: a beautiful and well-designed ring named Premium for $149, or an ordinary-looking one called Lustrium for $49. Without even asking my parents, I knew I would be the only student ordering a Lustrium ring. “I can’t wait to see how the Premium ring looks on my finger,” the girl next to me said. “Are you getting the same too?” “I’m not sure,” I said. “I need to ask my parents.” After school, I showed my mom the form. “I really like the Premium ring. It looks more beautiful.” I told her. “A Lustrium ring is enough.” My mom refused at once. The following days, the Lustrium ring order hung over me like a cloud. “No one cares about me. No one cares what I want.” I thought to myself. I attended school dances and football games, feeling like an outsider. I moved through those days alone, invisible to everyone. Finally, on the morning of the ceremony, my mother handed me a small box. “This came for you,” she said. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I opened the box and stared at what was inside, shocked. _______________________________________________________________________________ After the ceremony, I found my brothers in the crowd. _______________________________________________________________________________ 高三英语 第 1 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 射洪中学高2024级高三上期英语入学考试答案 听力录音文稿 Text 1 M: Hi, Lisa. Are you free to help with the school open day tomorrow afternoon? W: I’d like to, but I’ll be driving my cousin to the airport. Text 2 W: Excuse me, I’d like to find a spot where I can sit down and finish some work quietly. M: OK, madam. There’s a quiet seating area near the information desk. Text 3 W: My doctor says I need to drink more water, but I prefer sugary juice. M: Yeah, but water would be much better for you. W: OK, I’m going to give it a shot! Text 4 W: How’s your car mechanics class going, Jake? M: I dropped it. W: Really? Then you must be taking the cookery class? M: No, I got a new camera for my last birthday, so I’ve decided to learn how to use it properly. Text 5 W: What made you decide to become a civil engineer? M: I always wanted to do something practical, and civil engineers just hit the spot! W: Why do you want to work with our company? M: Um, your company is well known and, hopefully, I have opportunities to develop my skills. Text 6 W: Have you heard that the contract has been canceled? M: Yes. You must be really annoyed after all the work you put into it! W: Yes, I was. The client was really positive about it, but they were in some financial difficulty. M: It was a huge contract, wasn’t it? What are you going to do now? W: Well, we’ve just had a big order from another client, so that’s taken the pressure off! Text 7 W: You’ll never believe what happened in chemistry class today. M: Let me guess: you mixed the wrong liquids and caused a big fire? W: No, exactly! John said something to me, so I turned around and.... M: You knocked the test tubes over? W: Just let me finish. I didn’t hear what the teacher said, and I added the powder to the wrong liquid. Within seconds the mixture started smoking a little, but our teacher jumped in quickly and reminded us to follow the steps! Text 8 W: So, what have you got for today’s TV show, Thomas? M: Recycling! I’m not talking about everyday recycling, but up-cycling. Up-cycling is recycling on a small, individual level—giving new life to old, unwanted items. It has become popular in recent years. So today I’m going to experiment with some of the most common techniques. W: What kind of things can be up-cycled? M: Almost anything! Whatever your item, I guarantee you’ll leave the show today with the skills needed to make amazing things for your home. W: OK, Thomas, let’s take a quick break for some commercials from our sponsors and we’ll be right back. Text 9 M: I’ve been thinking a lot about our living situation lately, especially with the kids needing more personal space. W: I’ve noticed that, too. And working from home has made it even harder to find a quiet corner. M: I looked at some listings online last night. There are a few bigger houses still within our budget. W: That sounds promising—but I worry about the longer travel time if we move farther from the city center. M: Most of the places I saw are close to public transport. W: What about our kids’ new schools? M: I looked into that as well. The nearby schools actually have newer facilities and smaller class sizes. W: That’s amazing! But moving means a lot of extra work and unexpected costs. M: True, but staying here may limit the kids’ growth. W: Maybe we should visit a few places in person first. M: I agree. Text 10 W: Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for coming to the Riverside Community Sports Centre. Before you start using the facilities, I’d like to go over a few important updates and services we now provide. To begin with, we have introduced a new entry system: instead of showing a paper card, members can now scan a code on their phones at the gate. This change is meant to save time, especially during busy hours. In addition, the center has added several indoor spaces for different needs. If you prefer calm exercise, there is a stretching room on the second floor. For group activities, the large hall near the entrance is available throughout the day. Free internet access is provided in all areas. Finally, we now offer weekly guided fitness sessions led by trained coaches. These sessions focus on basic rank, balance and flexibility, and are suitable for beginners as well as old members. If you have any questions, feel free to ask our staff. We hope you enjoy your time here. 1-5 BABBC 6-10 ACBCA 11-15 BCABC 16-20 ABCAA 21—25 BDBBB 26—30 CBCBD 31—35 ACCDD 36—40 EGDAC 41—45 BCACA 46—50 BCDBC 51—55 DABDB 56. which 57.its 58.designers 59.dating 60.has become 61.in 62.absorbed 63.is brought 64.truly 65.how 66.One possible version: Healthy Campus, Happy Life A healthy campus is more than just a place for learning — it lays the foundation for our physical vitality and mental well-being, enabling us to face academic challenges with full energy. It was the shiny Premium ring that I had longed for those days. ‌I could hardly believe my eyes and rubbed the ring surface gently with my fingertips.‌ Mom smiled and told me that my two elder brothers had learned about my wish and shared the money to buy it for me. I touched the cool metal on my finger, and my eyes got wet. The ring was not just a small gift, but a warm sign that they had always noticed my quiet feelings. After the ceremony, I found my brothers in the crowd. ‌They were holding a small bouquet of sunflowers that I loved for a long time.‌ Jerry waved at me and pointed at the ring on my finger, while Jim gave me a big hug. They said they were sorry for being too busy before and promised that they would spend more time with me later. That day I knew the distant gap between us was gone, and I finally felt I was a loved little sister that would never be ignored again. 词汇激活 行为类 ①轻轻摩挲:rub gently/stroke softly ②拥抱某人:give sb. a big hug/hug sb. 情绪类 ①难以置信:could hardly believe one’s eyes /can’t believe ②眼眶湿润:one’s eyes get wet/one’s tears well up 【点睛】【高分句型1】Mom smiled and told me that my two elder brothers had learned about my wish and shared the money to buy it for me.
