Should students do some housework at home? Some parents think that their 1 (child) are too busy with their studies. They believe doing housework means wasting their time. As for 6 (I), I think it’s impossible to depend on their parents completely. Our parents work hard and they are very 7 (tire) after daily work. We should share the housework 8 them. It helps us understand the idea of fairness, too. In a family, it’s everyone’s job to share the housework. 四、阅读理解
Many children ask their mothers for help when they meet challenges, and Anna is no exception. She often turns to her mom and says, “Could you help me?” However, her mom’s answer is always the same: “Do it yourself, dear.” This makes Anna feel upset, and she even thinks of her mom as a lazy person.
For example, one day, Anna invited some friends over, but her bedroom was in a mess. Books were all over the table and floor, and she had forgotten to make her bed. She asked her mother for help to tidy up, but her mom replied seriously, “Do it yourself, girl.” Anna had to clean the room on her own. Luckily, when her friends arrived, her bedroom was clean enough.
Because of her mother’s “laziness”, Anna has to wash her own clothes, keep her room tidy, and even help with household chores. When she has a toothache, she even has to go to the dentist by herself. She does all these things reluctantly, with a voice in her heart saying, “What a cold and lazy mom I have!”
As Anna grows up, she begins to understand her mother. Her mom’s so-called laziness is actually a way to build her independence. It was really hard for Anna to do everything on her own at first, but she has learned a lot. Through those early difficult times, she has learned the importance of relying on herself and gained important life skills. Now, Anna is thankful for the lesson her mother taught her—these skills have shaped her into a stronger and more hard-working person.
1.What does Anna often do when she faces challenges at first?
A.She often solves them on her own easily. B.She often asks her mother for help.
C.She often communicates with her friends. D.She often calls her grandparents up.
2.Because of her mother’s laziness, Anna has to do the following things except ________.
A.Washing her own clothes. B.Keeping her room tidy.
C.Helping with household chores. D.Looking after her baby sister.
3.What does the underlined word “reluctantly” mean in the passage?
A.Unwillingly. B.Gladly. C.Quickly. D.Carefully.
4.How did Anna’s feelings towards her mother change?
A.Worried→hopeful→thankful. B.Upset→afraid→angry.
C.Excited→worried→upset. D.Upset→accepting→thankful.
5.What’s the best title for the text?
A.A lesson her mother taught her B.How to make friends
C.How to do chores D.A trip to the dentist
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.D 5.A
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲述Anna一开始不解母亲总让她凡事独立完成,长大后才懂得母亲是在培养她独立自主的品质。
1.根据第一段中“Many children ask their mothers for help when they meet challenges, and Anna is no exception. She often turns to her mom and says, ‘Could you help me?’”可知,Anna遇到难题时经常向妈妈寻求帮助。
2.根据第三段中“Because of her mother’s ‘laziness’, Anna has to wash her own clothes, keep her room tidy, and even help with household chores.”可知,Anna需要自己洗衣服、整理房间、分担家务,原文没有提到她需要照顾年幼的妹妹。
3.根据第三段中“She does all these things reluctantly, with a voice in her heart saying, ‘What a cold and lazy mom I have!’”可知,Anna内心抵触母亲的要求,并不愿意独自做事,因此reluctantly意为“不情愿地”,和unwillingly同义。
4.根据第一段中“This makes Anna feel upset”、第四段中“as Anna grows up, she begins to understand her mother.”以及“Now, Anna is thankful for the lesson her mother taught her”可知,Anna的心路历程为:难过→接纳理解→心怀感激,对应D选项。
5.全文围绕母亲教会Anna独立这件事展开,母亲的教导是文章核心,所以最佳标题是A lesson her mother taught her(母亲教会她的一堂课)。
Every Saturday, 14-year-old Helen had to help wash clothes. But she hated it. One day, when her mother asked her to wash clothes, she complained (抱怨) and threw them into the basket, “Why me?” Her mother was cleaning the kitchen floor and answered, “We’re a family, aren’t we?” Helen felt upset (心烦的). Her friend Emma’s house was always clean because they had a cleaner. “Why don’t we hire (雇佣) a cleaner?” Helen asked. Her mother replied, “Doing chores teaches responsibility (责任).”
Last week, Helen’s history teacher gave a project (课题) called “Hidden Heroes.” While looking for information, Helen found a story about Mierle Ukeles, an artist from the 1970s. Ukeles called housework “art” and even cleaned museums to show its importance. Helen was surprised—could chores be special?
That weekend, Helen noticed many things she had never seen before: her father fixed the sink (水槽), ________, and her brother watered flowers carefully outside. She realized their home needed everyone’s care.
For her project, Helen made a video (视频) and showed pride in her family’s Saturday chores. She wrote funny titles (标题) like “Dad: Fixer and Breakfast Maker” and “Mom: Cleaning Boss.” When she showed the video, her classmates loved it. Emma said, “Maybe chores aren’t so bad.”
Now, Helen still doesn’t love washing, but she understands its value (价值). As Ukeles said, “In fact, chores aren’t boring—they keep life going well.”
1.What did Helen complain about?
A.She hated school projects. B.Emma’s house was too dirty.

A.It showed her bad feeling to her father. B.It made her classmates laugh at her.
C.It showed her pride in the family’s work. D.It was about some famous artists.
4.How does Helen feel about chores in the end?
A.Angry and tired. B.Dislikes but understands it.
C.Bored but accepting. D.Comfortable and pleased.
5.What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
A.Doing chores helps build responsibility and keep life going well.
B.Kids should do chores to save money for their families.

D.Mierle Ukeles thought housework was a kind of art.

Labour classes at school make students active and happy. For example, planting flowers in the garden lets you feel excited as they grow. You also learn labour’s true meaning—like how farmers work hard for food. So from September 2024, middle schools have at least one labour class weekly, getting more hands-on chances.
There are fun labour classes now. In Chongqing, students learned to catch fish in a nearby river: teachers taught safe net use, then they caught fish gently. After that, they studied the fish’s scales, fins and habits like what they eat and how they swim. In Shanxi, students made tofu in the kitchen: grinding soybeans, filtering pulp, boiling it into tofu, then cooking it into tasty dishes—everyone loved the food they made! Some students kept chickens at home: feeding corn daily, cleaning coops weekly, watching them grow. This taught them to care for living things and made them more interested in biology—they even read animal books!
The new policy says middle school students need these labour skills: clean your bedroom and classroom; pick proper travel clothes such as cool shirts for beaches, warm jackets for hiking; cook 3—4 simple meals like scrambled eggs and vegetable soup; join outdoor work like planting carrots and water them every 2 days or fishing.
A study shows labour helps students: finishing tasks builds confidence and self-control. After morning classes, labour lets you relax—moving your body makes you happy and less tired, so you do better in afternoon lessons. Labour classes teach useful skills and make school life colorful. So which labour skill do you want to learn most?
1.When did students in middle school start to have at least one labour class a week?
A.From October 2024. B.From September 2024.
C.From October 2025. D.From September 2025.
2.Students might be more interested in ________ after keeping small animals at home.
A.physics B.chemistry C.biology D.maths
3.The text is written for ________.
A.doctors B.parents C.students D.scientists
【答案】1.B 2.C 3.C

3.推理判断题。根据“After morning classes, labour lets you relax—moving your body makes you happy and less tired, so you do better in afternoon lessons. Labour classes teach useful skills and make school life colorful. So which labour skill do you want to learn most?”可推知,这篇文章是写给学生的。故选C。
Should children do chores? Some people think that children should not do chores, but many experts believe that children can benefit (受益) from doing chores. They can learn problem-solving and independence from doing chores.
However, most experts agree that the chores should fit the children. For example, young children shouldn’t wash the dishes or take out the rubbish. However, they can do the chores like picking up toys, putting books in the bookcase to keep the home tidy. In fact, young children usually would like to do chores because they like doing what Mom or Dad does, and that helps them feel more grown-up.
As the children grow older, many experts advise giving them more difficult chores like washing the dishes and walking the dog. However, children usually do not want to do the chores. The middle school students may spend more than two hours a night on their homework. Perhaps more chores on the weekend, not on weekdays can be helpful.

Should children do chores? Some people think that children should not do chores, but many experts believe that children can benefit (受益) from doing chores. They can learn problem-solving and independence from doing chores.
