He keeps a busy schedule, working 12-hour shifts, sometimes during the day and sometimes at night. 1 Emergency calls require a quick response. “Being a first responder comes more naturally for me and many medics.” When the medical dispatch center (调度中心) receives the 911 call, they send it to a cell phone that they carry. The phone has all the information he and his partner need about the type of emergency they’re responding to. 2 3 Matthews never knows what kind of emergency he’ll face. “It can be difficult, sitting in a chair one minute, and the next, you will be in a ditch on the side of a highway doing CPR (心肺复苏),” Matthews says. And the emergencies change with the seasons, too. “In the winter, we respond to car accidents due to bad weather or winter sports accidents,” Matthews says. In the summer, there are calls about shortness of breath and asthma (哮喘) due to humidity and heat, as well as recreational vehicle accidents. An EMT’s work can be stressful. Staying centered and controlling your emotions are important for this job. It isn’t just about saving lives, Matthews says. It’s about treating patients with respect. 4 Yet, not everybody has a personality like this. Taking care of yourself is also important, Matthews says. “To be a good medic, you need to get consistent, proper exercise,” he says. 5 “Good family support.” A.An EMT’s job is unpredictable. B.But perhaps most important of all? C.Once we’re ready to go, we’re assigned a post. D.Staying calm is a big part of being able to help them. E.An EMT has to be quick, calm and ready for anything. F.Matthews also uses GPS on the phone to guide him to a location. G.Then he and his partner respond to 911 calls made from that area. 1.根据上文“Daniel Matthews is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. He keeps a busy schedule, working 12-hour shifts, sometimes during the day and sometimes at night.(丹尼尔·马修斯是加拿大新不伦瑞克省的一名紧急医疗技术员(EMT)。他的工作安排十分紧凑,每班工作时长为12小时,有时在白天,有时在夜间)”可知,前文提到马修斯作为急救员工作繁忙(12小时轮班,昼夜不定),后文围绕“急救需快速响应”展开。E项“急救员必须反应迅速、沉着冷静且随时准备应对一切” 承上启下,既总结了急救员的工作状态,又为下文“快速响应”、“应对各类紧急情况”铺垫,逻辑连贯。故选E。 2.根据上文“Emergency calls require a quick response. “Being a first responder comes more naturally for me and many medics.” When the medical dispatch center (调度中心) receives the 911 call, they send it to a cell phone that they carry. The phone has all the information he and his partner need about the type of emergency they’re responding to.(紧急呼叫需要迅速响应。 3.根据后文“Matthews never knows what kind of emergency he’ll face. In the summer, there are calls about shortness of breath and asthma (哮喘) due to humidity and heat, as well as recreational vehicle accidents.(马修斯永远不知道自己会面临何种紧急情况。 故选A。 4.根据上文“An EMT’s work can be stressful. Staying centered and controlling your emotions are important for this job. It isn’t just about saving lives, Matthews says. It’s about treating patients with respect.(急救员的工作可能会很紧张。 5.根据上文“Taking care of yourself is also important, Matthews says. “To be a good medic, you need to get consistent, proper exercise,” he says.(马修斯说,照顾好自己也很重要。“要成为一名优秀的医护人员,你就需要坚持进行适当的锻炼,”他说道)”可知,前文提到“照顾好自己很重要,需要持续适当的锻炼”,后文单独强调“良好的家庭支持”。B项“但或许最重要的是?”以设问方式引出更核心的要素,形成递进关系,符合“列举急救员自我调节的重要因素”的语境,使行文节奏更自然。故选B。 Passage 2 For previous generations, choosing a travel destination was a process grounded in research and personal recommendations. Guidebooks were essential, offering deep insights and detailed maps. 1 However, today’s travel landscape is dramatically different. Social media platforms have become the primary sources of travel inspiration. Influencers and viral trends (流行趋势) now shape people’s travel choices and experiences. The result is millions of people pour into the same hotspots. 2 Instagram and TikTok play a critical role in driving overtourism. A single post from a popular influencer can turn a previously unknown destination into a must-visit location overnight. This sudden flooding of visitors can strain local resources, drive up housing prices, and weaken the cultural structure of communities. 3 Student flats transformed into Airbnb rentals drove up rent prices, and the city’s historic charm often felt overshadowed by the tourists that crowded the streets year-round. 4 Tourist taxes, admission charges, and restrictions (限制) on short-term rentals are being put in place and protests have erupted across Spain and Italy, where locals are calling for action to preserve (维护) their way of life. These measures highlight the growing tension between the desire to attract tourists and the need to protect local communities. Despite these challenges, there is hope for a more balanced approach to travel in the age of social media. 5 Travellers are increasingly seeking out lesser-known destinations and more authentic (真实的) experiences. Social media, though often a driver of overtourism, can also be leveraged (充分利用) to promote these positive trends. Influencers have the power to highlight off-the-beaten-path locations, encourage off-season travel, and advocate for eco-friendly practices. A.Overtourism is a growing issue. B.They directed travellers off the beaten track. C.Social media’s influence on travel is diverse. D.In response, some destinations have begun to push back. E.This change has contributed significantly to overtourism. F.In Edinburgh, for instance, the impact of overtourism was evident. G.A growing awareness of responsible and eco-friendly tourism is developing. 1.上文“For previous generations, choosing a travel destination was a process grounded in research and personal recommendations. Guidebooks were essential, offering deep insights and detailed maps.(对于前几代人来说,选择旅行目的地是一个基于研究和个人推荐的过程。旅行指南至关重要,能提供深刻的见解和详细的地图)”提到上一代人依赖旅行指南做攻略;选项B“They directed travellers off the beaten track. (它们会引导旅行者前往人迹罕至的地方)”承接指南书的作用,与后文“However, today’s travel landscape is dramatically different. Social media platforms have become the primary sources of travel inspiration.(然而,如今的旅行格局已发生巨大变化。社交媒体平台已成为旅行灵感的主要来源)”形成对比,凸显旅行选择的变化,逻辑连贯。故选B。 2.上文“The result is millions of people pour into the same hotspots.(结果便是数百万人涌向同一个热门景点)”指出社交媒体让大量人涌向同一热门景点;选项E“This change has contributed significantly to overtourism. (这一变化极大地导致了过度旅游问题)”直接承接前文的现象,点明其引发的核心问题,为后文具体阐述过度旅游的影响做铺垫,衔接自然。故选E。 3.上文“This sudden flooding of visitors can strain local resources, drive up housing prices, and weaken the cultural structure of communities.(游客的突然涌入会给当地资源带来压力,推高房价,并削弱社区的文化结构)”提到过度旅游会给当地资源、房价和文化带来压力;选项F“In Edinburgh, for instance, the impact of overtourism was evident. (例如在爱丁堡,过度旅游的影响显而易见)”以具体城市为例说明过度旅游的现象很明显,自然引出下文“Student flats transformed into Airbnb rentals drove up rent prices, and the city’s historic charm often felt overshadowed by the tourists that crowded the streets year-round.(学生公寓被改造成Airbnb短租民宿,导致房租上涨,而这座城市的历史魅力,也常常被全年挤满街道的游客所掩盖)”过度旅游的负面影响。故选F。 4.上文“Student flats transformed into Airbnb rentals drove up rent prices, and the city’s historic charm often felt overshadowed by the tourists that crowded the streets year-round.(学生公寓被改造成Airbnb短租民宿,导致房租上涨,而这座城市的历史魅力,也常常被全年挤满街道的游客所掩盖)”以爱丁堡为例说明过度旅游的负面影响。选项D“In response, some destinations have begun to push back.(对此,一些目的地已开始采取抵制措施)”延续上文内容,指出面对过度旅游的负面影响的应对方案,符合逻辑。故选D。 5.上文“Despite these challenges, there is hope for a more balanced approach to travel in the age of social media.(尽管面临这些挑战,但在社交媒体时代,实现更平衡的旅行方式仍有希望)”提到有望实现更平衡的旅行方式。选项G“A growing awareness of responsible and eco-friendly tourism is developing.(人们对负责任且环保的旅游意识正在不断增强)”是对平衡旅行方式的具体阐释,符合逻辑。故选G。 Passage 3 I frequently see online videos where a group of girls travel to a destination as friends but leave as enemies. It’s generally assumed that these friendship breakups result from different travel preferences or lack of conflict resolution skills. 1 Luckily, there are ways to minimize arguments and ensure your friendships survive your next group trip. 2 Regarding accommodations, for instance, you’d rather check into a Youth Hostel than a five-star hotel so that you can spend more on good meals. What need you prioritize should get across to your friends, in which case there’ll be no surprises when you’re trying to pick out an Airbnb or make dinner reservations. Do your friends prefer a structured itinerary that starts at 7 a.m., or would they like to rise at their leisure and wing it for the day? Are they down to party until dawn, or do they want to call it a night by 10 p.m.? The same goes for boundaries. Better to know what makes them uncomfortable beforehand than have to negotiate midtrip. Are you one who rightly sticks to a travel itinerary and allows zero flexibility? 3 I find it helpful to have a loose itinerary shared before the trip. You can always revise your daily schedule, but some structure is key, or else you’re spending half your vacation researching. Some people need a break to recharge or sleep and others may want to work out or read a book. 4 It’s everyone’s vacation, so everyone should get independent periods to use as they wish. 5 A.It pays to tour with friends. B.I believe it’s a mixture of both. C.Don’t forget to block out alone time D.Be frank about your budget and preferences. E.If the answer is yes, you’ll have to make a change. F.There is no point in complaining about external disturbance. G.Setting schedule expectations helps you plan the trip effectively. 根据前文“It’s generally assumed that these friendship breakups result from different travel preferences or lack of conflict resolution skills.(人们普遍认为,这些友谊破裂源于旅行偏好不同或缺乏冲突解决能力)”,以及后文“Luckily, there are ways to minimize arguments and ensure your friendships survive your next group trip.(幸运的是,有一些方法可以减少争吵,确保你的友谊能撑过下次团体旅行)”可知,此空需对“友谊破裂的原因”给出明确态度,衔接“解决方法”。  B选项“I believe it’s a mixture of both.(我认为这两者皆有影响)”符合语境。故选B项。 2.根据后文“Regarding accommodations, for instance, you’d rather check into a Youth Hostel than a fivestar hotel so that you can spend more on good meals. What need you prioritize should get across to your friends, in which case there’ll be no surprises when you’re trying to pick out an Airbnb or make dinner reservations.(比如住宿,你可能更愿意住青年旅社,而不是五星级酒店,这样就能把更多钱花在美食上。你需要把自己优先考虑的需求告知朋友,这样一来,在Airbnb房源或预订餐厅时,就不会出现意外分歧了)”可知,此空需作为段落主旨,概括“坦诚分享自身预算和偏好”的核心。  D选项“Be frank about your budget and preferences.(坦诚说明你的预算和偏好)”符合语境。故选D项。 3.根据前文“Are you one who rightly sticks to a travel itinerary and allows zero flexibility?(你是那种严格遵守旅行行程、一点灵活性都不允许的人吗?)” G选项“Setting schedule expectations helps you plan the trip effectively.(明确行程预期有助于高效规划旅行)”符合语境。故选G项。 4.根据前文“Some people need a break to recharge or sleep and others may want to work out or read a book.(有些人需要休息恢复精力或睡觉,有些人可能想锻炼或看书)”,以及后文“it’s everyone’s vacation, so everyone should get independent periods to use as they wish.(这是每个人的假期,所以每个人都应该有自主支配的时间)”可知,此空需总起“预留独处时间”的主题,呼应“自主支配时间”的需求。  C选项“Don’t forget to block out alone time.(别忘了预留独处时间)”符合语境。故选C项。 5.根据前文“It’s everyone’s vacation, so everyone should get independent periods to use as they wish.(这是每个人的假期,所以每个人都应该有自主支配的时间)”可知,此空需作为全文收尾,总结“做好规划后,与朋友旅行是值得的”,传递积极态度。A选项“It pays to tour with friends.(和朋友一起旅行是值得的)”符合语境。故选A项。 Passage 4 Soon you’ll be done with the stresses of high school. You might think college will be a breeze—studying your favorite courses and hanging out with your friends all day. 1 Creating good habits can help you settle in faster and make the most of college life. Here are some habits you might need to work on. Manage your time. No more sitting in the classroom from dawn till dusk. You’ll have a unique class timetable and more free time. Parents or teachers won’t be around to help plan your schedule. Spend some time figuring out which study routines and schedules work best for you. 2 3 College is a crucial time for personal development, so make sure you stay on track and maintain a positive attitude. Don’t hesitate to seek help if you face problems you don’t know how to handle. Colleges offer many excellent student services, including academic tutoring, mental health counseling (咨询), and career advice. These are great free resources that help you both in the short and long term. 4 This will save you a lot of stress. Be kind to yourself. There may be expectations for you and others to excel in college. If you don’t meet these expectations, you might feel disappointed. 5 You might experience stress during your first semester if your grades are lower than expected. Once you adjust your expectations and improve your skills, you’ll likely feel more comfortable. Above all, be brave! You only live once! A.Seek help when you need it. B.Keep positive when in trouble. C.College life can be tough for most freshmen. D.This avoids study stress and allows time for socializing. E.But in the beginning, you may find yourself overwhelmed. F.If you’re confused about class content, ask your teachers or classmates. G.Don’t compare yourself to others; find ways to release stress. 1.上文“You might think college will be a breeze — studying your favorite courses and hanging out with your friends all day. (你或许会以为大学生活会轻松惬意——整天学习自己最喜欢的课程,和朋友们一起玩耍)”与下文“Creating good habits can help you settle in faster and make the most of college life. (培养良好的习惯可以帮助你更快适应,并充分把握大学时光)”可知,大学看似轻松,实则初期可能有困难之间,空处承上启下,构成转折关系。E选项中的“But”体现这一转折关系,所以E选项“但一开始,你可能会感到不知所措。”,符合语境。故选E。 2.上文“Manage your time. No more sitting in the classroom from dawn till dusk. You’ll have a unique class timetable and more free time. Parents or teachers won’t be around to help plan your schedule. Spend some time working out what study routine and schedules work best for you. (管理你的时间。不要再从早到晚坐在教室里。你将有一个独特的课程表和更多的自由时间。父母或老师不会在你身边帮你计划日程。花些时间找出最适合你的学习习惯和时间表)”可知,自己可以根据自己的需求管理时间,空处为本段最后一句,应承接上文,指出合理管理时间的好处,D选项中的“time”与上文中的“time”相一致,故D选项“这可以避免学习的压力,有时间去社交。”符合语境。故选D。 3.下文“College is a crucial time for personal development, so make sure you stay on track and maintain a positive attitude. Don’t hesitate to seek help if you face problems you don’t know how to handle. (大学是个人成长的关键时期,因此务必保持积极的心态,紧跟节奏。如果你遇到不知如何应对的问题,不要犹豫寻求帮助)”可知,有问题是要及时寻求帮助,空处为本段中心句,A选项中的“Seek help”与下文中的“seek help”相呼应,故A选项“需要帮助时寻求帮助。”符合语境,故选A。 4.上文“Colleges offer many excellent student services, including academic tutoring, mental health counseling (咨询), and career advice. These are great free resources that help you both in the short and long term. (大学提供许多优质的学生成长服务,包括学业辅导、心理健康咨询以及职业规划建议。这些资源不仅免费,而且无论在短期还是长期都能为你提供有力支持)”及下文“This will save you a lot of stress. (这将为你省去许多压力)”可知,大学里有很多可以解惑的资源,空处承上启下,F选项中的“class content”与上文中的“academic tutoring”相呼应。故选项F“如果对课程内容感到困惑,可以请教老师或同学。”,符合语境。故选F。 5.上文“Be kind to yourself. There may be expectations for you and others to excel in college. If you don’t meet these expectations, you might feel disappointed. (善待自己。你和他人可能都对你在大学里的表现抱有很高的期望。如果你未能达到这些期望,可能会感到失望)”及下文“You might experience stress during your first semester if your grades are lower than expected. Once you adjust your expectations and improve your skills, you’ll likely feel more comfortable. (如果第一学期的成绩不如预期,你可能会感到压力。但只要调整好期望,并不断提升能力,你很可能会逐渐感到更加自在)”可知,感到失望时,要调整自己,释放压力,空处承上启下,G选项中的“ways”与下文中的“adjust your expectations and improve your skills”相呼应。故G选项“不要与他人比较;找到适合自己的减压方式。”,符合语境。故选G。 Passage 5 As a sixth-grade teacher, I often find that my spring parent-teacher conferences begin with the same answer to my first question: “So: how does Kevin think things are going this term?” I will ask. “We don’t know,” Kevin’s parents will say. “ 1 ” Anyone who interacts with middle school students on a regular basis knows the familiar answer to the question “How was your day?” 2 As these young men and women experiment with their desire for independence, they often create distance between themselves and their families. A few weeks after our conferences, I introduced a new poetry assignment: the “family history” poem. 3 I had no idea what to expect although I had heard from several parents that the assignment had led to lively discussions and the sharing of stories that ranged from humorous to tragic. I was not prepared for the power of the poetry I was about to read. 4 Not only was each student able to explore a meaningful part of his or her family’s past, but each poet also reflected his or her distinctive voice. Furthermore, each of their poems demonstrated a deep level of meaning and understanding that went beyond the story itself. 5 This time around I am going to allow students more time to listen to and digest (领会,理解) their family stories before sitting down to write. I am also going to introduce several more literary devices. It is my hope that this assignment gives my students a deeper, more meaningful appreciation of the art of poetry while it illuminates (照亮) the ways in which their families can help them become confident, capable, and connected young men and women. A.He never talks to us anymore B.It is usually “Fine!” and “Whatever!” C.Sit down and write a poem about this D.The following week, poems began to roll in E.I plan to make a few adjustments this spring F.All of the family history poems were astonishing G.I puzzled over the ways I could try to bridge this communication gap 【答案】1.A 2.B 3.D 4.F 5.E 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 1.根据上文“As a sixth-grade teacher, I often find that my spring parent-teacher conferences begin with the same answer to my first question: “So: how does Kevin think things are going this term?” I will ask. “We don’t know,” Kevin’s parents will say. (作为一名六年级老师,我经常发现春季家长会上,我的第一个问题总会得到同样的回答:“那么:凯文觉得这学期情况怎么样?”我会问。“我们不知道,”凯文的父母会说。)”可知,此空需补充父母“不知道”的原因,即凯文不与他们沟通。A选项“He never talks to us anymore. (他再也不跟我们说话了。)”直接解释了父母不了解凯文想法的缘由,承接上文逻辑,符合语境。故选A项。 2.根据上文“Anyone who interacts with middle school students on a regular basis knows the familiar answer to the question “How was your day?” (任何经常与中学生打交道的人都知道“你今天过得怎么样?”这个问题的常见答案。)”可知,此空需明确该问题的具体常见回答。B选项“It is usually “Fine!” and “Whatever!” (通常是“还好啦!”和“就这样呗!”。)”直接呼应上文“familiar answer”,补充了具体内容,符合语境。故选B项。 3.根据上文“A few weeks after our conferences, I introduced a new poetry assignment: the “family history” poem. (家长会几周后,我布置了一项新的诗歌作业:“家族史诗歌”。)”以及下文“I had no idea what to expect although I had heard from several parents that the assignment had led to lively discussions and the sharing of stories that ranged from humorous to tragic. I was not prepared for the power of the poetry I was about to read. (我不知道会有什么结果,尽管我从几位家长那里听说,这项作业引发了热烈的讨论,还分享了从幽默到悲伤的各种故事。我没料到即将读到的诗歌会有如此大的感染力。)”可知,此空需衔接“布置作业”与“看到诗歌、收到反馈”,说明作业提交情况。D选项“The following week, poems began to roll in. (第二周,诗歌开始陆续交上来了。)”既承接上文“布置作业”的动作,又为下文“读诗歌、收家长反馈”做铺垫,符合语境。故选D项。 4.根据下文“Not only was each student able to explore a meaningful part of his or her family’s past, but each poet also reflected his or her distinctive voice. Furthermore, each of their poems demonstrated a deep level of meaning and understanding that went beyond the story itself. (每个学生不仅能探索自己家族过去中富有意义的部分,而且每位诗人都展现出了自己独特的风格。此外,他们的每首诗都蕴含着超越故事本身的深刻意义和理解。)”可知,此空需总述“家族史诗歌”的整体水平,引出下文具体优点。F选项“All of the family history poems were astonishing. (所有的家族史诗歌都令人惊叹。)”是对诗歌整体的评价,下文“探索家族过往、独特风格、深刻意义”均是对“astonishing”的具体阐释,符合语境。故选F项。 5.根据下文“This time around I am going to allow students more time to listen to and digest (领会,理解) their family stories before sitting down to write. I am also going to introduce several more literary devices. It is my hope that this assignment gives my students a deeper, more meaningful appreciation of the art of poetry while it illuminates (照亮) the ways in which their families can help them become confident, capable, and connected young men and women. (这一次,我打算让学生在动笔前有更多时间倾听和领会家族故事。我还打算介绍更多的文学手法。我希望这项作业能让学生更深入、更有意义地欣赏诗歌艺术,同时也能让他们明白,家人可以帮助他们成为自信、有能力且善于沟通的年轻人。)”可知,此空需表明“计划调整作业”的意图,引出下文具体调整内容。E选项“I plan to make a few adjustments this spring. (今年春天,我计划做一些调整。)”中的“make a few adjustments”直接呼应下文“延长时间、增加文学手法”的调整措施,符合语境。故选E项。 Passage 6 Are you an “I person” or an “E person”? These two personality labels in particular are widely discussed online. They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI. 1 “I” and “E” refer to “introverted” and “extroverted”, respectively. 2 This is a common point in many online discussions. For example, when an introverted person is with a group of introverted friends, they might become more social like an “E” person. According to psychologists, this idea of temporarily switching personalities is called “masking”. 3 “Human beings want to feel they belong, and they might become people-pleasers to do so,” wrote the MasterClass website. Using the MBTI result to identify and describe someone’s personality seems fun. 4 My sister was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan when I remembered from an article that “P people” don’t like to make or stick to plans, so I said to her, “You don’t seem like a ‘P person’.” “Why?” she asked back. “Since when do I need to follow what my personality test tells me to do?” It was then I realized I’d taken the result too seriously. The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker question when meeting new friends. 5 Knowing someone’s MBTI result doesn’t mean you really know this person. And those four letters of yours don’t define who you are. A.And that’s all it is — for fun. B.However, I went too far at one time. C.Unfortunately, I was once misled by it myself. D.That is hiding your true personality in specific situations. E.Even someone who is typically quiet can act outgoing at times. F.There are 16 results in total, all of which consist of four letters. G.Therefore, it is essential to remember that these labels are not absolute. 1.根据前文“They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI.(它们是流行的迈尔斯-布里格斯类型指标,即MBTI人格测试的一部分)”以及后文“‘I’ and ‘E’ refer to ‘introverted’ and ‘extroverted’, respectively.(‘I’和‘E’分别指‘内向’和‘外向’)”可知,此空需衔接MBTI测试的整体构成与“I/E”的具体含义,补充测试结果的基本形式。F选项“There are 16 results in total, all of which consist of four letters.(该测试共有16种结果,每种结果均由四个字母组成)”符合语境。故选F项。 2.根据后文“This is a common point in many online discussions. For example, when an introverted person is with a group of introverted friends, they might become more social like an ‘E’ person.(这是许多网上讨论的常见观点。例如,当一个内向的人与一群内向的朋友在一起时,他们可能会变得更外向,像‘E型人’一样)”可知,后文通过例子说明“内向者有时会表现得外向”,此空需概括这一核心观点。E选项“Even someone who is typically quiet can act outgoing at times.(即使是平时安静的人,有时也会表现得外向)”符合语境。故选E项。 3.根据前文“According to psychologists, this idea of temporarily switching personalities is called ‘masking’.(心理学家表示,这种暂时切换人格的行为被称为‘伪装’)”可知,前文定义了“masking(人格伪装)”,此空需进一步解释该术语的含义。D选项“That is hiding your true personality in specific situations.(即在特定情况下隐藏自己真实的人格)”符合语境。故选D项。 4.根据前文“Using the MBTI result to identify and describe someone’s personality seems fun.(用MBTI测试结果来识别和描述一个人的性格似乎很有趣)”以及后文“My sister was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan... It was then I realized I’d taken the result too seriously.(我妹妹正兴奋地制定每日旅行计划……那时我才意识到自己把测试结果看得太认真了)”可知,此空需通过转折承接“测试有趣”的观点,引出“自己过度依赖测试结果”的经历。B选项“However, I went too far at one time.(然而,我曾一度做得太过了)”符合语境。故选B项。 5.根据前文“The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker question when meeting new friends.(MBTI人格测试可能会让你发现一些自己不知道的特质,甚至可以作为认识新朋友时有趣的破冰话题)”以及后文“Knowing someone’s MBTI result doesn’t mean you really know this person. And those four letters of yours don’t define who you are.(知道一个人的MBTI结果并不意味着你真正了解这个人。那四个字母也不能定义你是谁)”可知,此空需总结MBTI测试的核心定位——“趣味工具”。A选项“And that’s all it is — for fun.(而这就是它的全部意义——仅供娱乐)”符合语境。故选A项。 Passage 7 Even if you don’t think of yourself as artsy or creative, diving into arts and crafts could bring joy and happiness into your life. Whether it’s painting, crafting or doing a DIY project, these activities are a great way to increase your happiness. 1 Interestingly, the study showed that it doesn’t depend on a person’s age, gender, socioeconomic status or background. Doing arts and crafts actually suits everyone! You would think that a person’s wealth would play a bigger role on his or her happiness. 2 Arts and crafts win the prize, and can have a bigger impact on your mood and life. Arts and crafts are constructive activities that transform ideas into concrete results. Whether finishing a drawing, making a vase, or baking a decorated cake, the process of bringing something from nothing gives you a sense of satisfaction, a much needed human emotion and feeling. 3 Engaging with art generates a “flow state”, a mental state of complete focus where time seems to fade, and worries or stress disappear. 4 The act of focusing on a creative task provides a break from overthinking, allowing the mind to rest in a state of productive calm. 5 From making pottery (陶艺) with your own hands, which requires you to get down and dirty, to coloring with markers in a coloring book while listening to relaxing music, go ahead and pick one from so many options. You’ll be happy you did! A.But this is not the case. B.It is logical if you think about it. C.Why are there so many natural artists? D.This state creates a sense of absorption. E.Who won’t feel proud of their own creation? F.There are lots of types of arts and crafts suiting you. G.A study published in Frontiers recently confirmed it. 1.根据上文“Whether it’s painting, crafting or doing a DIY project, these activities are a great way to increase your happiness.(无论是绘画、手工艺还是DIY项目,这些活动都是增加幸福感的好方法)”和下文“Interestingly, the study showed that it doesn’t depend on a person’s age, gender, socioeconomic status or background.(有趣的是,研究表明,这并不取决于一个人的年龄、性别、社会经济地位或背景)”可知,空处应起到承上启下的作用,说明有研究支持上文提到的观点,即从事艺术和手工艺活动能增加幸福感。选项G“A study published in Frontiers recently confirmed it.(最近发表在《Frontiers》上的一项研究证实了这一点)”符合语境。故选G。 2.根据上文“You would think that a person’s wealth would play a bigger role on his or her happiness.(你可能会认为一个人的财富会对其幸福感产生更大的影响)”和下文“Arts and crafts win the prize, and can have a bigger impact on your mood and life.(艺术和手工艺胜出,对你的情绪和生活有更大的影响)”可知,上文提到人们可能会认为财富对幸福感影响更大,而下文却指出艺术和手工艺对情绪和生活影响更大,说明上文的观点是不正确的,空处与上文形成转折关系。选项A“But this is not the case.(但事实并非如此)”符合语境。故选A。 3.根据上文“Whether finishing a drawing, making a vase, or baking a decorated cake, the process of bringing something from nothing gives you a sense of satisfaction, a much needed human emotion and feeling.(无论是完成一幅画、制作一个花瓶,还是烤一个装饰蛋糕,从无到有的过程都会给你一种满足感,一种人类急需的情感和感觉)”可知,上文提到完成艺术和手工艺作品会给人带来满足感,那么人们自然会为自己的创作感到自豪。选项E“Who won’t feel proud of their own creation?(谁不会为自己的创作感到自豪呢?)” 4.根据上文“Engaging with art generates a “flow state”, a mental state of complete focus where time seems to fade, and worries or stress disappear.(参与艺术活动会产生一种“心流状态”,这是一种完全专注的精神状态,在这种状态下,时间似乎消失了,忧虑或压力也消失了)”和下文“The act of focusing on a creative task provides a break from overthinking, allowing the mind to rest in a state of productive calm.(专注于创造性任务的行为可以让人从过度思考中解脱出来,让大脑在一种富有成效的平静中休息)”可知,“心流状态”会让人专注于自己所做的事。选项D“This state creates a sense of absorption.(这种状态会产生一种专注感)”符合语境。故选D。 5.下文“From making pottery (陶艺) with your own hands, which requires you to get down and dirty, to coloring with markers in a coloring book while listening to relaxing music, go ahead and pick one from so many options.(从亲手制作陶艺,这需要你亲自动手并弄脏自己,到在听放松音乐的同时用记号笔在涂色书上涂色,从这么多选项中选一个吧)”可知,下文提到了多种艺术和手工艺活动的类型,说明有很多适合不同人的艺术和手工艺活动。选项F“There are lots of types of arts and crafts suiting you.(有很多适合你的艺术和手工艺类型)”符合语境。故选F。 Passage 8 Have you ever thought that taking short breaks during a walk could actually help you burn more calories? Scientists have discovered that short bursts of activity can burn more energy than continuous exercise. For example, several groups of quick walks or stair climbs for just 10 to 30 seconds use 20% to 60% more energy than walking nonstop for the same distance. 1 Similar to a car using more fuel when starting a journey, our body works harder at the beginning of any movement. This is because it needs to warm up our muscles and get into a rhythm. These short bursts of activity might not last long, but they require a lot of energy. 2 As someone who sits most of the day, I used to think exercise meant hours at the gym. But when I tried replacing my afternoon coffee breaks with three 90-second stair climbs, something surprising happened. 3 My body adjusted to the activity, and what once felt like a struggle gradually turned into a manageable routine. As this happened, I unexpectedly felt more focused and energized throughout the day. These “exercise snacks” fit well into my busy schedule, proving that working out doesn’t require large blocks of time. 4 Every stair climb or short walk wakes up the body. Health isn’t built in a day at the gym—it’s made through small, consistent actions. Simply replace one of your usual sitting breaks with just a single minute of walking, and you’ll be amazed at how small actions can reshape your physical vitality. 5 A.Now I see fitness differently. B.Every step counts, no matter how short it is! C.This finding matches perfectly with my own experience. D.This happens because the body needs extra energy to start moving. E.Actually, short exercise breaks can increase your energy consumption. F.At first, even 20 seconds left me breathless, but over time, it became easier. G.The more time and effort you put into exercise, the more calories you will burn. 1.根据上文“For example, several groups of quick walks or stair climbs for just 10 to 30 seconds use 20% to 60% more energy than walking nonstop for the same distance.(例如,几组仅持续 10 到 30 秒的快走或爬楼梯比不间断地走相同距离多消耗 20% 到 60% 的能量)”以及下文“Similar to a car using more fuel when starting a journey, our body works harder at the beginning of any movement. This is because it needs to warm up our muscles and get into a rhythm.(就像汽车在开始行驶时会消耗更多燃料一样,我们的身体在任何运动开始时都需要更努力地工作。这是因为它需要热身我们的肌肉并进入节奏)”可知,设空处是在解释为什么短时间的活动会消耗更多能量。D选项”这是因为身体开始移动需要额外的能量”符合语境,能够承接上文并解释原因。故选D。 2.根据下文“As someone who sits most of the day, I used to think exercise meant hours at the gym. But when I tried replacing my afternoon coffee breaks with three 90-second stair climbs, something surprising happened.(作为一个大部分时间都坐着的人,我过去认为锻炼意味着在健身房里待上几个小时。 3.根据下文 “My body adjusted to the activity, and what once felt like a struggle gradually turned into a manageable routine.(我的身体适应了这种活动,曾经感觉很艰难的事情逐渐变成了一种可管理的日常活动)”可知,设空处应该是描述作者一开始进行这种短时间活动时的困难情况。 4.根据下文“Every stair climb or short walk wakes up the body. Health isn’t built in a day at the gym—it’s made through small, consistent actions.(每次爬楼梯或短距离散步都会唤醒身体。 故选A。 5.根据上文“Simply replace one of your usual sitting breaks with just a single minute of walking, and you’ll be amazed at how small actions can reshape your physical vitality.(只需用一分钟的步行代替你通常的一次坐着休息,你就会惊讶地发现,小小的行动就能重塑你的身体活力)”可推知,设空处是对这种微小行动重要性的进一步强调。 B。 Passage 9 When we look at a forest, it’s easy to see a collection of trees standing tall and separate, each seemingly independent. 1 Under the forest floor lies a hidden network — a web of roots and fungi (真菌) that allow trees to “talk” to each other. This system, often referred to as the “wood wide web”, enables trees to support one another in ways that were once unimaginable. The primary way trees “talk” to each other is through their roots and an underground network called mycorrhizal (菌根) fungi. Attaching to tree roots, these fungi create a vast web that connects multiple trees within a forest. In exchange for sugars produced through photosynthesis (光合作用), the fungi provide trees with essential nutrients. 2 Through this underground system, trees share information and send signals. When a tree is attacked by harmful insects, it can release chemical messages through the network. 3 Then neighboring trees may strengthen their defenses by producing chemicals in their leaves to protect themselves. 4 Rather than managing individual trees, conservation efforts must focus on preserving the forest’s wholeness. Beyond that, reforestation efforts can benefit from understanding tree communication. By planting diverse species and fostering the growth of mycorrhizal fungi, restoration projects can create ecosystems that are more self-sustaining. Understanding this hidden language shows us clearly that all living things on Earth are linked together. 5 By protecting these ecosystems, we protect not only trees but the complicated networks that support all life within them. A.Not all trees communicate in the same way. B.These chemical signals can act as warnings. C.But the messages trees send are not easy to find. D.It also reminds us how critical forests are to keep life going. E.However, research reveals that trees are far from being alone. F.The idea of tree communication reshapes how we protect forests. G.This cooperation is the core of the forest’s communication system. 1.上文“When we look at a forest, it’s easy to see a collection of trees standing tall and separate, each seemingly independent.(当我们看到一片森林时,很容易看到一群树木高耸而独立,每一棵似乎都是独立的)”描述树木看似独立,下文“Under the forest floor lies a hidden network — a web of roots and fungi that allow trees to “talk” to each other.(在森林的地表下隐藏着一个网络——一个由根和真菌组成的网络,它使树木能够相互“交谈”)”说明树木之间并不是独立的,它们之间有联系,E选项“然而,研究表明树木远非孤立存在”承上启下,选项中的However与上文形成转折关系,且trees are far from being alone与下文中的a hidden network相呼应,说明树木之间有联系,并不是独立的,符合语境。故选E。 2. 3.上文“When a tree is attacked by harmful insects, it can release chemical messages through the network.(当一棵树受到有害昆虫的攻击时,它可以通过网络释放化学信息)”说明树木会释放化学信息,B选项“这些化学信号可以起到警告作用”说明这种化学信息的作用,承接上文,选项中的These chemical signals指代上文中的chemical messages,符合语境。故选B。 4.下文“Rather than managing individual trees, conservation efforts must focus on preserving the forest’s wholeness. Beyond that, reforestation efforts can benefit from understanding tree communication.(保护工作必须侧重于保护森林的完整性,而不是管理每棵树。 5.上文“Understanding this hidden language shows us clearly that all living things on Earth are linked together.(理解这种隐藏的语言让我们清楚地看到,地球上所有的生物都是相互联系的)”说明理解树木之间的交流让我们看到了地球上所有生物之间的联系,D选项“这也提醒我们森林对维持生命的重要性”说明这种联系的重要性,选项中的It also reminds us与上文中的shows us clearly相呼应,符合语境。故选D。 Passage 10 Most of us have some resistance to conflict. Instead of dealing with issues directly, we try to be “nice” and end up spending lots of time talking to ourselves or others — complaining, feeling upset, thinking something that already happened over and over again. 1 Your health and self-esteem (自尊) may suffer and you think that you’re a victim. Below are three tips. 1)Speak objectively and make requests You should use observations instead of labels. For example, in the case of the direct report, he or she is likely to be unhappy if you say, “I need to talk to you about how badly you come off in the meeting.” Instead, talk about what you observed: “I noticed in the last meeting your body language changed and you reacted strongly when the speaker said something wrong. I’d love to discuss how you could share your concerns in a better way.” 2 2)Keep a calm behavior 3 But it doesn’t. You can be yourself and remain kind, fair, and calm in these situations by being clear, focusing on the essence of the conflict, and making a request to ensure your problem is solved. 3) 4 Like any muscle you build, it takes practice before you can improve your abilities. 5 In the process of reflection, please ask yourself: What caused my anxiety and why does this feel personal? What request am I not making? Then, take action. A.Start with baby steps. B.But this can have serious costs. C.Therefore, this action is bad for your health. D.Then you can go further and ask for improvement. E.Start with easier situations first and reflect how to address the conflict. F.Try to do as many things as possible at once, and do each one perfectly. G.People who shy away from conflict often think that it has to look aggressive. 1.根据空前内容“Instead of dealing with issues directly, we try to be “nice” and end up spending lots of time talking to ourselves or others—complaining, feeling upset, thinking something that already happened over and over again.(我们不是直接处理问题,而是试图表现得“友善”,结果花费大量时间与自己或他人交谈——抱怨、感到难过、反复思考已经发生的事情。)” B“But this can have serious costs.(但这可能会付出严重的代价)”能够承接上文,指出逃避冲突的后果,且“this”指代上文的逃避冲突的行为,符合语境。故选B。 2.根据空前内容“For example, in the case of the direct report, he or she is likely to be unhappy if you say, “I need to talk to you about how badly you come off in the meeting.” Instead, talk about what you observed: “I noticed in the last meeting your body language changed and you reacted strongly when the speaker said something wrong. I’d love to discuss how you could share your concerns in a better way.”(例如,在直接报告的情况下,如果你说,“我需要和你谈谈你在会议上表现得有多糟糕。” D“Then you can go further and ask for improvement.(然后你可以进一步要求改进。)” 3.根据下文内容“But it doesn’t. You can be yourself and remain kind, fair, and calm in these situations by being clear, focusing on the essence of the conflict, and making a request to ensure your problem is solved.(但事实并非如此。 G“People who shy away from conflict often think that it has to look aggressive.(回避冲突的人往往认为它必须看起来有攻击性。)” 根据下文“Like any muscle you build, it takes practice before you can improve your abilities.(就像你锻炼任何肌肉一样,在提高你的能力之前需要练习。)” 故选A。 5.根据下文内容“In the process of reflection, please ask yourself: What caused my anxiety and why does this feel personal? What request am I not making? E“Start with easier situations first and reflect how to address the conflict.(先从简单的情况开始,并反思如何解决冲突。)”中的“start”和下文的“then”形成一致;而“reflect”也和下文的“In the process of reflection”相符。故选E。 Passage 11 The process of sorting through my childhood stuff started out easy. At first, I was excited to toss everything out. But as the bedroom emptied out, I felt a creeping sense of sadness. My childhood was over, and I entered full-fledged (成熟的) adulthood. And I wondered: 1 In short, yes. 2 That’s because going through your old stuff can possibly stir up difficult emotions or sweet memories. Whatever emotions pop up, accept them, and it will help you process it faster. Before you start sorting, determine how much storage space you’re willing to devote to your childhood items. 3 You may have limited space for old stuff. But listen to your heart. If you’re sentimental and you want to hold on to stuff, hold on to it. You can always get rid of it later. During this process, it can be useful to have someone you trust by your side. They can help you honor the memories associated with each object and let go. 4 They know which life experiences mean the most to you. And you don’t have to pile your childhood stuff in the attic (阁楼). 5 You can take photos, which you can revisit any time on your phone or computer. Or you can turn them into an art project and display it in a shadow box. Remember, there is someone who care enough to hold on all old stuff for you. This is a value of all of the time and effort and money your parents have poured into you. This has been saved in love. A.Get creative and think outside the box. B.Could my childhood memories be regained? C.You can find meaning in your life experiences. D.Loved ones can also help you decide what to save. E.But it will probably still be a bittersweet experience. F.That will help you figure out how much stuff you can keep. G.Was there a less heartbreaking, more strategic way to do this? 1.前文“At first, I was excited to toss everything out. But as the bedroom emptied out, I felt a creeping sense of sadness. My childhood was over, and I entered full-fledged 2.后文“That’s because going through your old stuff can possibly stir up difficult emotions or sweet memories.(这是因为翻看你的旧东西可能会激起不好的情绪或甜蜜的回忆)”表示新方法还是会激起过去的情绪;E选项“但这可能仍然是一段苦乐参半的经历”表明新的方法还是一段苦乐参半的经历,其中bittersweet与后文difficult emotions or sweet memories呼应。故选E。 3.前文“Before you start sorting, determine how much storage space you’re willing to devote to your childhood items.(在你开始分类之前,确定你愿意为你的童年物品投入多少存储空间)”表示分类前应确定储存空间;F选项“这将帮助你计算出你可以保留多少东西”为前面这么做的目的,符合语境。故选F。 4.前文“During this process, it can be useful to have someone you trust by your side. They can help you honor the memories associated with each object and let go.(在这个过程中,有一个你信任的人在你身边是很有用的。 5.前文“And you don’t have to pile your childhood stuff in the attic.(你也不必把童年的东西堆在阁楼上)”说明无需将东西放在阁楼上,后文“You can take photos, which you can revisit any time on your phone or computer. Or you can turn them into an art project and display it in a shadow box.(你可以拍照,可以随时在手机或电脑上查看。 A。 Passage 12 Nowadays, the term “superfood” has become the nutritional buzzword. Simply put, these superfoods are those that provide large amounts of nutrients through minimal calories. The term “superfood” may have taken the modern food scene by storm. 1 Although only popular in recent years, the concept of certain foods with special nutritional qualities has been around for a long time. The nickname “superfood” gained widespread popularity in the early 2000s as health enthusiasts and the food industry sought to identify and market foods with special health benefits. Today, it is a trend in diet. In an age when we share all kinds of superfoods on social media, ignoring the phenomenon is impossible. 2 It’s easy to understand. These nutritional superheroes offer a perfect combination of substance and style, tailored for the digital generation. Their lively colours, exotic origins and impressive nutrient profiles make them candidates for the next viral food trend. 3 They offer a lifestyle that reflects the global shift towards a more healthconscious society. As the world wrestles with an increasing burden of diseases and the fast pace of modern life, people are seeking dietary solutions from superfoods. 4 They are rich in vitamins and minerals that can strengthen your immune system, avoid chronic diseases, and improve your overall wellbeing. Another remarkable benefit is their potential to promote heart health, helping you build a strong heart. Don’t forget their role in skin regeneration. The antioxidants (抗氧化物) can provide a natural glow, reduce skin ageing and fight against skin conditions. 5 Superfoods, while nutritionally dense, should be part of a comprehensive diet rather than the only guarantee of our health. A.What is driving the trend? B.What are nutritional superheroes? C.They bring appearances to the table as well. D.Superfoods promise more than just a meal. E.No single food can cure all diseases. F.They seem tailormade to deal with these concerns. G.However, its roots can be traced back to early 20thcentury nutrition literature. 1.空前内容“The term “superfood” may have taken the modern food scene by storm.(“超级食物”这个词可能已经席卷了现代食物界。)” G“However, its roots can be traced back to early 20thcentury nutrition literature.(然而,它的根源可以追溯到20世纪早期的营养文献。)” 同时引出下文“Although only popular in recent years, the concept of certain foods with special nutritional qualities has been around for a long time.(虽然近几年才流行起来,但某些具有特殊营养品质的食物的概念已经存在很长时间了)”故选G。 2.根据空后“It’s easy to understand. These nutritional superheroes offer a perfect combination of substance and style, tailored for the digital generation.(这很容易理解。 A“What is driving the trend?(是什么推动了这种趋势?)” 故选A。 3.根据下文“They offer a lifestyle that reflects the global shift towards a more healthconscious society. D“Superfoods promise more than just a meal.(超级食物承诺的不仅仅是一顿饭。)” 4.根据上文“As the world wrestles with an increasing burden of diseases and the fast pace of modern life, people are seeking dietary solutions from superfoods.(随着世界与日益增加的疾病负担和快节奏的现代生活作斗争,人们正在从超级食品中寻求饮食解决方案)”可知,人们希望超级食品能够帮助他们战胜疾病和快节奏生活所带来的压力。选项F“They seem tailormade to deal with these concerns.(它们似乎是为解决这些问题而量身定做的。)” 同时与下文内容“They are rich in vitamins and minerals that can strengthen your immune system, avoid chronic diseases, and improve your overall wellbeing.(它们富含维生素和矿物质,可以增强你的免疫系统,避免慢性疾病,并改善你的整体健康。)” 5.根据下文“Superfoods, while nutritionally dense, should be part of a comprehensive diet rather than the only guarantee of our health(超级食物虽然营养丰富,但应该是全面饮食的一部分,而不是我们健康的唯一保证。)” E“No single food can cure all diseases.(没有一种食物能包治百病。)” E。 Passage 13 The Power of Peers Do birds of a feather really flock together? People do tend to choose friends who are similar to them. Many behaviors spread socially. Activities in certain brain areas change when other people are around. 1 You can use the power of social relationships to gain healthier habits — and motivate others to do the same. 2 Teens are especially responsive to peer influence. At the same time, the reward system in the teen brain becomes extra sensitive. Teens are just learning to explore the social world. Understanding other people’s values and being influenced by them are important parts of socializing. A research shows that even just having another peer around can change the reward response in the brain and also the risk-taking tendencies of teenagers. Some people seem to be more easily influenced than others and more sensitive to feeling included or excluded by others. 3 But it’s also a time that peer influence can help teens thrive if it gets them more involved with their community or helps them learn behaviors to get along with others. It’s the quality of friendships — not quantity — that really makes the difference. Friendships you feel you want to let go of may be low quality. 4   High quality friendships provide understanding, support, and recognition of your self-worth. These types of friendships are more steady and satisfying. Spending time with friends can be especially helpful for people. Noticing that our behavior is influenced by other people, we can be intentional and try to focus on the people who are doing the things we want to get into ourselves. 5 A.Adolescence is such a risky period. B.That can affect what you choose to do. C.Peer pressure can sometimes lead to competition. D.People care about what others think across all different age groups. E.They are linked to poor academic performance and behavioral issues. F.Sharing your healthy habits could also make a real difference to others. G.The number of friends you have determines your level of social influence. 1.上文“People do tend to choose friends who are similar to them. (人们确实倾向于选择与自己相似的朋友)”和“Activities in certain brain areas change when other people are around. (当其他人在身边时,某些大脑区域的活动会发生变化)”讲志趣相投的朋友在身边,你的某些大脑区域的活动会发生变化,该空应该承接上文讲发生变化后会产生什么样的结果,才能引出下文“You can use the power of social relationships to gain healthier habits — and motivate others to do the same. 2.由下文“Teens are especially responsive to peer influence. 3.由上文“A research shows that even just having another peer around can change the reward response in the brain and also the risk-taking tendencies of teenagers. Some people seem to be more easily influenced than others and more sensitive to feeling included or excluded by others. 切合语境,与下文“But it’s also a time that peer influence can help teens thrive if it gets them more involved with their community or helps them learn behaviors to get along with others. 故选A项。 4.结合下文“High quality friendships provide understanding, support, and recognition of your self-worth. These types of friendships are more steady and satisfying. 这些类型的友谊更稳定、更令人满意)”描述了什么是高质量的友谊,可推知该空应该承接上文“Friendships you feel you want to let go of may be low quality. 5.由上文“Spending time with friends can be especially helpful for people. Noticing that our behavior is influenced by other people, we can be intentional and try to focus on the people who are doing the things we want to get into ourselves. Passage 14 Think back to your last presentation. 1   And were they engaged in what you were saying? While you may think yourself to be a great speaker, it is not particularly hard to annoy your audience. Here are the top three of annoying habits in a presentation: reading the presentation (37%), having no knowledge of the subject matter (22%), using many “umms” and “uhhs” (16%). So here are some tips to help you avoid these annoying mistakes. The most annoying presentation habit is also one of the easiest to fall victim to. With a visual aid, you tend to look back and read what you have already written. 2    By reading your slides, you show no additional information, and therefore give your audience no reason to keep listening once they have finished reading the slide themselves. One guideline I find especially effective is to ensure each slide has no more than six main points, and no more than six words per point. 3   When in practice, having slides with flexible layouts and proper pictures is equally important. 4   The more prepared you are, the better you can effectively avoid sounding like you’ve never even heard of your topic before. So in order to show your audience you know your stuff, getting ready will make all the difference. The third most annoying habit was using many “umms” and “uhhs”, a symptom of not communicating effectively. This could be a result of stage fright, but more often than not these interjections (感叹词) happen unconsciously. 5    One tip for avoiding this is to practice your presentation multiple times beforehand, out loud. The more you practice, the more likely you can catch yourself before letting the “umms” and “uhhs” slip out. A.Was it boring? B.Were people interested? C.It helps you to save your time. D.This stops you overloading your slides with information. E.Despite how innocent they seem, they can ruin your credibility. F.Avoiding another annoying habit comes down to one factor: preparation. G.However, all this shows that you can do what your audience can as well. 1.上文“Think back to your last presentation.(回想一下你上次的演讲。)”提到了回想上一次的演讲;下文“And were they engaged in what you were saying?(他们参与了你所说的吗?)” B项“Were people interested?(人们感兴趣吗?)” 2.上文“With a visual aid, you tend to look back and read what you have already written.(最讨厌的演讲习惯也是最容易成为受害者的习惯之一。 提到了有了视觉辅助,会倾向于回顾和阅读已经写过的东西;下文“By reading your slides, you show no additional information, and therefore give your audience no reason to keep listening once they have finished reading the slide themselves.(通过阅读你的幻灯片,你没有展示额外的信息,因此给你的听众没有理由继续听,一旦他们自己看完幻灯片。)” G项“However, all this shows is that you can do what your audience can as well.(然而,所有这些都表明,你做了你的观众能做的事情。)” 3.上文“One guideline I find especially effective is to ensure each slide has no more than six main points, and no more than six words per point.(我发现一个特别有效的指导方针是确保每张幻灯片不超过6个要点,每个要点不超过6个单词。)” D项“This stops you overloading your slides with information.(这样可以防止幻灯片上的信息过多。)”中的this与上文ensure each slide has no more than six main points, and no more than six words per point对应。故选D项。 4.设空处位于段首,下文“The more prepared you are, the better you can effectively avoid sounding like you’ve never even heard of your topic before.(你准备得越充分,你就越能有效地避免听起来好像你以前从未听说过你的话题。)” F项“Avoiding another annoying habit comes down to one factor: preparation.(避免另一个恼人的习惯可以归结为一个因素:准备。)” 5.设空处位于段末,上文“The third most annoying habit was using many “umms” and “uhhs”, a symptom of not communicating effectively. This could be a result of stage fright, but more often than not these interjections E项“Despite how innocent they seem, they can ruin your credibility.(不管他们看起来多么无辜,他们都会毁掉你的信誉。)” Passage 15 About five days ago, my back started tightening in the middle region. A couple of days ago, I was trapped in my bed, unable to move. 1 So here I was, determined to make an appointment at an Eastern medicine school for my first experience getting acupuncture. It was a wonderful experience. The room looked no different from a Western medicine examination room. 2 However, it differed from Western medicine in the way they sought to treat me. 3 I was asked about things in my entire life, from my sleep patterns to my physical processes, to current life stressors. Then the medical student discussed a plan with the doctor. They came back, asked me to lie on my stomach, and started placing the needles. The needles didn’t hurt. I could barely feel their presence. After they placed the needles, the doctor asked me how I felt. I told her I couldn’t feel any pain. 4 So they left me in the room with a heat lamp for about twenty minutes. This “baking” time was amazing. It was subtle, but strong. 5 When the appointment was over, I felt super relaxed, almost drunk. I would highly recommend this treatment option for anybody who thinks they may benefit. A.The mysterious ancient healing art of acupuncture was amazing. B.Chinese medicine tends to regard the patient’s symptoms as a whole. C.I hated the looks from my doctor for symptoms that Western technology can’t handle perfectly. D.I felt like I was in an altered state of relaxation, a different dimension, even. E.The doctor told me to be patient and wait for the needles to take effect. F.I sat down and discussed my symptoms with the medical student. G.This actually indicated that I was responding well to the treatment. 1.根据后文“So here I was, determined to make an appointment at an Eastern medicine school for my first experience getting acupuncture.(于是,我决定在一所东方医学院预约第一次体验针灸)”可知,前文空格处为作者不想再接受西医治疗。 所以C项“I hated the looks from my doctor for symptoms that Western technology can’t handle perfectly.(我讨厌看见西方医生无法完美地处理这些症状时的表情)”符合题意。故选C项。 2.根据后文“However, it differed from Western medicine in the way they sought to treat me. 所以A项“The mysterious ancient healing art of acupuncture was amazing.(神秘的古代针灸治疗艺术令人惊叹)”符合题意。故选A项。 3.根据后文“I was asked about things in my entire life, from my sleep patterns to my physical processes, to current life stressors.(我被问及我的整个生活,从我的睡眠模式到我的生理过程,再到当前的生活压力)”可知,中医讲究整体调理。所以B项“Chinese medicine tend to regard the patient’s symptoms as a whole.(中医往往把病人的症状作为一个整体来看待)”符合题意。故选B项。 4. 所以G项“This actually indicated that I was responding well to the treatment.(这实际上表明我对治疗反应良好)”符合题意。故选G项。 5.根据前文“This “baking” time was amazing. It was subtle, but strong. 这很微妙,但很强烈)”可知,针灸时,作者感觉很神奇;以及后文“When the appointment was over, I felt super relaxed, almost drunk. 所以D项“I felt like I was in an altered state of relaxation, a different dimension, even(我感觉自己的放松状态发生了改变,甚至进入了一个不同的维度)”符合题意。 Passage 1 On the move Daniel Matthews is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Passage 2 For previous generations, choosing a travel destination was a process grounded in research and personal recommendations. Passage 3 I frequently see online videos where a group of girls travel to a destination as friends but leave as enemies. Passage 4 Soon you’ll be done with the stresses of high school. Passage 5 As a sixth-grade teacher, I often find that my spring parent-teacher conferences begin with the same answer to my first question: “So: how does Kevin think things are going this term?” I will ask. A.He never talks to us anymore B.It is usually “Fine!” and “Whatever!” C.Sit down and write a poem about this D.The following week, poems began to roll in E.I plan to make a few adjustments this spring F.All of the family history poems were astonishing G.I puzzled over the ways I could try to bridge this communication gap Passage 6 Are you an “I person” or an “E person”? Passage 7 Even if you don’t think of yourself as artsy or creative, diving into arts and crafts could bring joy and happiness into your life. Passage 8 Have you ever thought that taking short breaks during a walk could actually help you burn more calories? Passage 9 When we look at a forest, it’s easy to see a collection of trees standing tall and separate, each seemingly independent. Passage 10 Most of us have some resistance to conflict. Passage 11 The process of sorting through my childhood stuff started out easy. Passage 12 Nowadays, the term “superfood” has become the nutritional buzzword. Passage 13 The Power of Peers Do birds of a feather really flock together? Passage 15 About five days ago, my back started tightening in the middle region.
