We believe that an approach based on advanced AI is the only way to achieve a general solution for full self-driving, bi-pedal robotics (双足机器人) and beyond. Optimus Create a bi-pedal intelligent humanoid robot capable of performing unsafe or boring tasks. Achieving that aim requires building the software with great accuracy. We’re hiring deep learning and mechanical engineers to solve our hardest engineering challenges. FSD Chip Build AI chips to run our Full Self-Driving software, considering every micro-structure improvement while maximizing silicon (硅). Facilitate drivers to program and communicate with the chip, focusing on performance boost. Finally, test the silicon chip and bring it to mass production in our vehicles. Neural Networks Apply cutting-edge research to train deep neural networks on problems ranging from perception to control. Our camera networks analyze raw images to perform semantic segmentation (语义分割) and object detection. Our birds-eye-view cameras take video from all angles to draw the road layout in a top-down view. Code Foundations Correctness of the software is the main standard that we build our code for. Build the reliable software foundations from the lowest levels, tightly integrating with our hardware. Write fast, memory-efficient low-level code to capture high-volume data from our sensors, and to share it with multiple consumer processes. Click here to find more 21. A product brochure. C. A fiction magazine. D. A technology website. B Once, in another life, I was an entrepreneur (创业家). It was the late nineties, when the website was young, and everyone was trying to join in the dot-com boom. In 1999, a company with high-speed Internet hired us to build a cooperative project for its customers. We were worried that we’d taken on work we couldn’t handle but also felt that we were on track to create something innovative. I liked this entrepreneurial experience — its ambition and its energy. Newly confident, we blew through deadlines and finished the project. Unlike other kids, who were what, socializing? I had a business card that said “Creative Director.” I thought I might move to San Francisco and work in a tech company. However, our client’s business was acquired (收购) by a firm. Our salary went unpaid. It was senior year — a fork in the road. We closed our business and moved out of the office. A few days before graduation, when I went to pay my tuition bill, I met a girl to whom I got married later. Under her influence, I became a journalist. I now have a life, a family, and a story. I’m me, not him — whoever he might have turned out to be. The literary scholar Andrew H. Miller writes, “One of the most significant facts about us may finally be that we all begin with the natural equipment to live a thousand kinds of life but end up having lived only one.” We all live in the here and now; we all have actual selves, actual lives. But what are they? Selves and lives have possibilities — that’s what’s unique about them. They are always changing, and so are we, always new. 24. How did the author feel about his early entrepreneurial life? A. Stressed and doubtful. B. Ambitious and hopeful. C. Excited but regretful. D. Confident but cautious. 25. What does the phrase “a fork in the road” in paragraph three mean? A. A small trouble in life. B. An event as expected. C. A significant turning point. D. A place for a short rest. 26. Why did the author become a journalist? A. The financial pressure he faced. B. His long passion for journalism. C. A life-changing chance encounter. D. His fading interest in technology. 27. What does the author intend to convey through Andrew Miller’s quote? A. We should regret the paths we did not take. B. Our identities are fixed from the beginning. C. It is meaningless for us to live a different life. D. Life lies in its many possibilities and changes. C Dreams seem to occur at random, from everyday situations to unpredictable experiences. Now, a new study shows that our personal features as well as real-life events actually shape what we dream about, creating patterns in our subconsciousness (潜意识). The study, published in Communications Psychology, analyzed thousands of dream and waking experience reports collected over four years. The researchers used natural language processing tools to quantify the structure of dreams. They found that personal features like how often someone daydreams, their attitudes about dreams, and their sleep quality all influence dream content. Researchers noticed that dreams don’t simply replay scenes from our daily lives. Instead, dreams seem to mix familiar places like workplaces, hospitals, and schools into new scenes that blend memories with imagination. The reported dreams tended to focus more on visual details, feature more characters, and make less logical sense. They were also less self-focused and less driven by conscious thinking. These dream transformations weren’t the same for everyone. Participants who spent more time daydreaming during the day tended to have dreams that jumped rapidly from one scene to another. Those who placed more importance on dreams described them as more vivid and immersive. Sleep quality also played a role. The team used three large language models, LLaMA 3, ChatGPT-4, and ChatGPT-4 Turbo, to rate dream reports on 16 different features, such as mood, strangeness and freedom of movement. “By combining large-scale data with computational methods, we were able to uncover patterns in dream contents that were previously difficult to find,” Elce said. “This opens new possibilities for studying consciousness, memory, and mental health in a better way.” 28. How did the researchers conduct the study? A. Data analysis. B. Sleep observation. C. Personal surveys. D. Life event tracking. 29. Which of the following best describes the nature of the dream? A. Creative. B. Conscious. C. Realistic. D. Repetitive. 30. What is the main advantage of the language models? A. Increasing the number of dream features. B. Enhancing the accuracy of human brains. C. Simplifying more personal dream reports. D. Identifying the structures of various dreams. 31. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? A. To Control Dreams, Control Your Day. B. Better Sleep Creates Better Dreaming. C. AI Now Fully Understands Our dreams. D. Dreams Are the Mind’s Hidden Patterns. D We rarely realize how much medical research depends on animals. However, live animals were used in 2.64 million scientific procedures in the UK in 2024, many of them painful and many of them fatal (致命的). But the government’s new strategy to phase out animal testing suggests that in the near future, emerging technologies can largely replace the use of animals in scientific research. The UK has already taken steps to regulate their use in research. This is welcome, but there are still many widespread practices — such as giving mice tumors to study cancer — which most people would consider acceptable, despite their obvious cruelty. Yet, our human sympathy has a limit. The government will succeed only if it can convince scientists and the public that these trusted experimental methods can be replaced with something as good or better. Organ-on-a-chip systems are already in use, which use lab-grown cells arranged into a mini network that can simulate (模仿) complex body systems. And machine learning systems are skilled at predicting potential toxic effects from medicines. These approaches won’t always provide perfect insight into how a given treatment might work for humans, but of course neither do animal tests. This is an opportunity for both scientific and economic progress. Animal testing isn’t just cruel, it is expensive and time-consuming. But more importantly, there is an urgency to free these animals. Previous governments greatly reduced the number of animals favored by humans such as dogs and horses in experiments. Yet, 95% of lab animals in the UK are mice, birds or fish. Do they not deserve the same consideration? 32. What’s the meaning of the underlined words “phase out” in paragraph 1? A. Expand. B. Continue. C. Examine. D. Stop. 33. What does the research of mice tumors suggest? A. Challenges in fully replacing animal testing. B. Common practices in the past scientific work. C. A desperate need to stop cruel experiments. D. Public awareness of animal suffering issues. 34. What does paragraph three mainly talk about? A. Machine learning outperforms animal testing. B. Alternatives to animal testing are available. C. Chip systems are less reliable than animal tests. D. Organ-on-a-chip systems are widely adopted. 35. What is the author’s attitude toward ending animal testing? A. Doubtful. B. Supportive. C. Unconcerned. D. Confused. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) The Prison of Mask People in the public eye are often heavily judged, and the comments can be cruel. We may not have people commenting on our daily choices in People magazine, but we absolutely have the “invisible audiences” that heavily influence our decisions. ____36____ It imprisons our true selves, forcing us to trade honesty for approval. Researchers have proven that we often think too much of how much people actually notice us. ____37____ Because of this, we constantly edit our lives for an audience that isn’t even watching even though we aren’t famous superstars. But who would you be if no one was watching? Carl Jung, one of the founding fathers of modern psychology, spoke about the “persona”, which is the metaphorical (比喻的) mask we all wear to meet the world. We all have them: the masks of the “successful businessman” or the “nice mom.” ____38____ However, if we wear these masks for too long, the true face underneath begins to disappear. There is a severe cost to living a false life. It is called the “regret argument”. Bonnie Ware, a care nurse, recorded the top regrets of the dying. “I wish I had had the courage to live a life true to myself, not a life others expected of me.” When our lives come to an end, the fear of judgment disappears. ____39____ As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.” ____40____ Take off the mask. The only person who truly needs to approve of your life is you. A. Thus, to live a true life, we have to stop. B. However, the pain of self-regret remains. C. Not a lot of good sounds could be heard on our street except for police sirens (警报声) and ambulances. Next door, a man often yelled, his shouts sometimes quickly followed by a soft thump. “You hear that?” my brother asked me. “What?” I said. “The ice-cream truck.” I listened. And there it was. That tiny little sound twinkling somewhere nearby. When you hear an ice-cream truck on your street, it means that someone has thought of you. I slid the chain off the door and unlocked it. I grabbed my brother and we ran outside to the street. The sound of the ice-cream truck was so loud, so close. My brother and I waved it down. We were crazy in our joy, screaming out what we wanted to eat, and for some reason the truck owner, Terry, made it for us. We licked our fingers and wrists, trying not to let the summer heat take it away from us. We hadn’t noticed the ice-cream truck leaving, its loud music pulling away, growing distant. My brother looked over at me with sudden worry, and said, “I forgot to pay. Did you?” I forgot, too. I understood then why ice-cream trucks maybe didn’t come to our street. When we’d heard the ice-cream truck before, it was always a street over, where there were brick houses with front lawns and bright flowers. I would be thirty-five this summer and I moved to where its music felt the loudest. I reminded myself that the ice-cream truck hadn’t showed up for decades, neither did my brother, who had died years ago. There was no one to ask, “You hear that?” I missed him as well as the truck. Yet one day, the music was again. Faint, twinkling. I dashed out of the door and decided to buy one. How’s the local history project going? Are you making good progress? M: Yes and no. We faced various kinds of problems. None of the group has much experience of cooperating on projects, but we spent some time discussing how to go about it and worked out what seemed a useful approach. But it seems that Jane and I are the only ones actually following the plan. This means that we’ve fallen behind our schedule. W: I see. And that’s tricky. M: Yes, it is. We felt that the targets had been set so we’d all know what to deal with. But looking back, we probably should have really specified individual responsibilities from the beginning. W: Well, this is quite a common problem, actually. If you go to the resource center, I think you’d find the advice service they provide. They’re helpful at this point. M: Thanks. We’ll go there later. 17. What brought Bronkar Lee’s video millions of views? A. Hosting a TV program. B. Acting in a commercial. C. Performing with his son. 18. B 25. C 26. C 27. 根据第二段“I liked this entrepreneurial experience — its ambition and its energy. Newly confident, we blew through deadlines and finished the project. (我很喜欢这段创业经历 ——它满怀抱负,充满活力。我们信心大增,赶过各个截止日期,完成了这个项目。)”可知,作者对早期创业生活感到充满雄心且抱有希望。 【25题详解】 词句猜测题。根据上文“I thought I might move to San Francisco and work in a tech company. However, our client’s business was acquired (收购) by a firm. Our salary went unpaid. (我原本以为自己会搬到旧金山,去一家科技公司工作。然而,我们客户的业务被另一家公司收购,我们的薪水也迟迟没有发放。)”和下文“We closed our business and moved out of the office. A few days before graduation, when I went to pay my tuition bill, I met a girl to whom I got married later. Under her influence, I became a journalist. (我们关掉了公司,搬出了办公室。毕业前几天,我去缴纳学费的时候,遇见了一个女孩,后来我和她结了婚。在她的影响下,我成了一名记者。)”可知,第三段提到客户公司被收购,工资未付,作者面临是否继续创业的关键选择,随后关闭公司、搬出办公室,并遇到未来妻子转而成为记者。由此可知,a fork in the road意为“重要转折点”。 根据第三段“A few days before graduation, when I went to pay my tuition bill, I met a girl to whom I got married later. Under her influence, I became a journalist. (毕业前几天,我去缴纳学费的时候,遇见了一个女孩,后来我和她结了婚。在她的影响下,我成了一名记者。)”可知,作者在毕业前遇到一位女孩并与之结婚,受其影响成为记者,因此是一次改变人生的偶然相遇让作者成为记者。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Selves and lives have possibilities — that’s what’s unique about them. They are always changing, and so are we, always new. (自我与人生蕴藏着种种可能性 —— 这正是它们的独特之处。它们总在不断改变,我们亦是如此,永远焕然一新。)”可知,作者通过引文传达人生充满可能性且不断变化。 C Dreams seem to occur at random, from everyday situations to unpredictable experiences. A 29. A 30. D 31. 根据第二段中“The study, published in Communications Psychology, analyzed thousands of dream and waking experience reports collected over four years. The researchers used natural language processing tools to quantify the structure of dreams.(这项发表在《传播心理学》上的研究分析了四年来收集的数千份梦境和清醒体验报告。研究人员使用自然语言处理工具来量化梦境的结构)”可知,研究人员是通过分析数据来进行这项研究的。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Instead, dreams seem to mix familiar places like workplaces, hospitals, and schools into new scenes that blend memories with imagination. The reported dreams tended to focus more on visual details, feature more characters, and make less logical sense.(相反,梦境似乎将工作场所、医院和学校等熟悉的地方混合成新的场景,将记忆与想象融合在一起。报告的梦境往往更注重视觉细节,具有更多角色,且逻辑性较差)”可知,梦境会将记忆与想象融合,创造出新的场景,因此具有创造性。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“The team used three large language models, LLaMA 3, ChatGPT-4, and ChatGPT-4 Turbo, to rate dream reports on 16 different features, such as mood, strangeness and freedom of movement. “By combining large-scale data with computational methods, we were able to uncover patterns in dream contents that were previously difficult to find,” Elce said.(该团队使用三种大型语言模型,LLaMA 3、ChatGPT-4和ChatGPT-4 Turbo从情绪、陌生感和运动自由度等16个不同特征维度对梦境报告进行评分。“通过将大规模数据与计算方法相结合,我们能够发现以前很难找到的梦内容中的模式,”Elce说)”可知,语言模型的主要优势是识别各种梦境的结构。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“Now, a new study shows that our personal features as well as real-life events actually shape what we dream about, creating patterns in our subconsciousness.(现在,一项新研究表明,我们的个人特征和现实生活事件实际上塑造了我们的梦境,在潜意识中创造了模式)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍梦境并非随机,而是受个人特征影响,并在潜意识中形成隐藏模式,因此D项“梦境是心灵的隐藏模式”最适合作为本文标题。 D We rarely realize how much medical research depends on animals. D. Confused. D 33. A 34. B 35. 根据第一段中的“But the government’s new strategy to phase out animal testing suggests that in the near future, emerging technologies can largely replace the use of animals in scientific research.(但政府逐步phase out动物实验的新战略表明,在不久的将来,新兴技术能够在很大程度上取代科学研究中对动物的使用。)” 根据第二段“This is welcome, but there are still many widespread practices — such as giving mice tumors to study cancer — which most people would consider acceptable, despite their obvious cruelty. Yet, our human sympathy has a limit. The government will succeed only if it can convince scientists and the public that these trusted experimental methods can be replaced with something as good or better.(这固然值得肯定,但依旧存在许多普遍的实验做法 —— 比如给小鼠植入肿瘤来研究癌症 —— 尽管这些做法明显很残忍,大多数人却认为可以接受。然而,人类的同情心是有限度的。政府只有说服科学家和公众,让他们相信这些可靠的实验方法能够被效果相当甚至更优的方案替代,这项政策才会取得成功。)”可知,长期以来,科学家和公众都认为动物实验是值得信赖的,因此不易被取代,除非让公众相信有更好行之有效的替代方法,因此小鼠肿瘤的研究表明了完全取代动物试验的巨大挑战。 【34题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第三段“Organ-on-a-chip systems are already in use, which use lab-grown cells arranged into a mini network that can simulate (模仿) complex body systems. And machine learning systems are skilled at predicting potential toxic effects from medicines. (器官芯片系统已经投入使用,该系统采用实验室培育的细胞构建成微型网络,能够模拟复杂的人体系统。此外,机器学习系统擅长预测药物潜在的毒性作用。)”可知,器官芯片系统和机器学习系统这两种替代方法是切实可行的,因此本段主要表明动物实验的替代方法是可用的。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“This is an opportunity for both scientific and economic progress. Animal testing isn’t just cruel, it is expensive and time-consuming. But more importantly, there is an urgency to free these animals.(这是科学与经济双重进步的机遇。动物实验不仅残忍,而且成本高昂、耗费时间。但更为重要的是,我们迫切需要解救这些实验动物。)”可知,作者对结束动物实验持支持态度。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) The Prison of Mask People in the public eye are often heavily judged, and the comments can be cruel. C. We feel as if eyes are following us everywhere. D. Developing a social mask is necessary for changes. E. It makes us avoid wearing bold colors or speaking our minds. F. They are entirely in our heads, but the prison they create is real. G. Without them, fitting into society would be nearly impossible. F 37. C 38. G 39. B 40. 【36题详解】 上文“People in the public eye are often heavily judged, and the comments can be cruel. We may not have people commenting on our daily choices in People magazine, but we absolutely have the ‘invisible audiences’ that heavily influence our decisions. (公众人物常受到严厉评判。我们可能没有人在《人物》杂志上评论我们的日常选择,但我们绝对拥有‘隐形观众’,它们严重影响我们的决定。)”说明普通人也有隐形观众影响决定。空处需要承接“invisible audiences”并引出下文关于“imprison”的内容。F项“它们完全存在于我们的脑海中,但它们创造的监狱是真实的。”符合语境,该项中的They指代前文的“invisible audiences”,且prison与后文“It imprisons our true selves”相呼应,说明隐形观众虽是想象的,但造成的束缚是真实的。 【37题详解】 上文“Researchers have proven that we often think too much of how much people actually notice us. (研究人员证明,我们常常高估别人对我们的关注程度。)”说明我们过度关注他人的注视。空处需要具体描述这种心理状态。C项“我们觉得好像到处都有眼睛在盯着我们。”,该项是对“think too much of how much people actually notice us”的形象化表达,说明我们总觉得被注视。空后“Because of this, we constantly edit our lives for an audience that isn’t even watching even though we aren’t famous superstars. (正因为如此,我们不断地为观众编辑我们的生活,即使我们不是著名的超级明星,观众也不会看。)”中的this指代C项内容,逻辑紧密。 【38题详解】 上文“We all have them: the masks of the “successful businessman” or the “nice mom.” (我们都有:“成功商人”或“好妈妈”的面具。)”说明社会面具普遍存在。空处需要说明这些面具的作用。G项“没有它们,融入社会几乎是不可能的。”符合语境,该项中的them指代前文的masks,说明面具的必要性。空后“However, if we wear these masks for too long, the true face underneath begins to disappear. (然而,如果我们戴这些面具太久,底下真实的脸就会开始消失。)”用However转折,说明面具虽有必要但戴太久有危害,G项与后文形成转折关系。 【39题详解】 上文“When our lives come to an end, the fear of judgment disappears. (当我们的生命走到尽头时,对评判的恐惧消失了。)”说明临终时外界评判的恐惧消失。空处和前文为转折关系,说明此时另一种遗憾的痛苦会留存下来。B项“然而,自我遗憾的痛苦依然存在。”符合语境,该项用However转折,说明虽然不怕别人评判了,但自我遗憾仍在。 【40题详解】 上文“As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.” DAY1 Taibai Mountain-Dongyuan The mist hadn’t lifted yet. 2】I believe this club will make a real difference and can’t wait to join! It was summer. Paragraph 1: I closed my eyes and followed the sound. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: I paid Terry the price of three ice-creams. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 I closed my eyes and followed the sound. Its twinkling notes led me around the corner, where the old truck stood, with the familiar tune still pouring out. Terry was there too, his eyes lighting up with recognition. The sight of him brought back that summer day, my brother’s excited voice echoing in my ears. I ordered one ice-cream, my childhood rushing back with each word. Terry handed it over, his hands weathered but steady. I stood there for a moment, holding the cone, the summer heat melting the edges and dripping down my fingers, just like before. I paid Terry the price of three ice-creams. “Three? You only took one.” He pushed the money back, frowning. I explained, my voice shivering, “It is for my brother and that summer we forgot to pay you.” My words seemed to drag him back across the years, back to that hot summer. “Long time no see, kid, ”his voice broke the silence, warm and familiar. Walking home, the music faded behind me. I realized the truck was never about ice-cream but about being remembered. With the sweet taste melting on my tongue and my brother’s memory warm in my heart, that tingling sound finally felt like a song of reunion. 词类激活: 行为类: 颤抖:shiver/tremble 意识到:realize/recognize 情绪类: 激动的:excited/thrilled 皱起眉头: frown/knit one’s brows 【点睛】【高分句型1】Its twinkling notes led me around the corner, where the old truck stood, with the familiar tune still pouring out.
